Im really curious how people know about Esperanto. Since its a relatively recent language (from the 1880s), its obviously not going to be as widely spoken in the world as other languages (altho apparently it is the most widely spoken constructed language). I assume most people are introduced to it later in some way?

a perfect microcosm of who i am as a person:

after months of hemming and hawing, i bought a new phone. new phone causes a ton of really annoying electromagnetic interference with my desktop pc speakers (that have been in the family since at least 1995) and subwoofer (that i bought for $1 at a thrift store). my immediate first thought for a solution was, rather than "maybe i should finally lay my 30 year old computer equipment to rest" was "i wonder how hard it would be to build a faraday cage to put my speakers in"

Anyways, I cannot fucking understate the psychic damage that is done by transitioning as a trans- masc while being a person of color.

People already didn’t listen to my opinion and boundaries before my voice and body started passing as somewhat male. But as I’ve started to pass, more and more often, my voice and opinions and boundaries are not only ignored; I’m treated as hyper-aggressive/hostile/mean, inagreeable, and stubborn.

Even by my loved ones and friends, they way they treat the words that come out of my mouth or words through text has changed.

When I cannot say “What you said/did hurt me and I need you to own up to that in some actually active way, or at least apologize.”without invoking white tears - when I cannot get upset over boundary crossing and being ignored without invoking anger about my “attitude”… How am I meant to exist safely?

i know there’s definitely a trend in fandom to prioritize male characters bc i’ve seen so many posts about it but it still catches me off-guard every time like what do you mean there’s people who struggle to name 10 women characters they like. i can name 10 women i like just from my current fandom. i can name 10 more without even thinking. i could probably even do another 10 after that if you give me a minute to think. this is the easiest test of my life what do you mean some people are struggling with it. i think that’s just a skill issue

1 + 8 - since I study philosophy at uni & am currently working on my thesis, these felt particularly relatable. I'm not more of a philosopher than a cat is definitely hits. Kind of want to put it in the preface.

7 - as someone who struggles with misophonia, I felt s e e n.

4- I'm sorry guys, I had to. But as someone who frequently asks herself "Are you really calling 30-somethings who have been dead for more than 200 hundred years twinks?", this felt like a vindication of sorts.

Also- I feel kind of conflicted about making this types of Tumblr posts about her since her work is really profound and serious and I have a sneaking suspicion she would have not appreciate them. At the same time, she has been living in my mind rent-free for the past week and this is a way to cope I guess?
