i NEEED NEEDD a tutorial on how you draw & design mechs bc the way you draw them is literally perfection in every way. this is from an anon who wants to make mech ocs but is unsure where to start theyre so complicated to design

dusting off my tutorial brain

my style of mech is very influenced by transformers (mix of different continuities and tf artists that I like) so I look at a lot of characters for inspiration

There's a lot of stuff you could add to it too like vents, pipes, antennas, fins, wires, joints, etc..

AND your superpower is that you just... start? You just do it? I live in such a permanent state of ADHD-induced perfectionist terror that the vast majority of my potential projects remain just that, potential, because I'm too scared of messing up to start them. I don't know how you do it, you go "think I'm gonna make a Redwall for real mice," and then you just DO it.

Oh the trick is just bombing a lot. If you fail enough you both get better at making stuff and get over the fear of failing. And you learn how to fix stuff when it does fail!

And it helps if what you're making is very silly. Like, this whole project is going to be shat on by rodents. The bar for success is low. It's easy to go, it doesn't matter if this is good. A mouse is going to poop on it either way.

#sometimes when something fails you go okay well i guess that's one of my thousand bad paintings that i have to get out of the way #before i can make Great Art #glad to have that over with #time well spent.
