I love how Epic is a story about how sometimes, you change in ways you can't undo. Sometimes it's a choice, and sometimes it's something that happens to you; often, it's both. And in some ways, you may be made worse. You may make mistakes. You may become someone you don't recognize, and you may not like who you now see in the mirror. You might lose your old self in the process of surviving.

But when you do, the people who love you will still be there. Not because of who you used to be, or how you might heal or become better, or out of ignorance of who you now are. Just because they love you, and you do not need to be perfect to be loved. You just need to be there.

And they'll be waiting for you.

hi it's koma!

this'll be my first post ever so i wanted to start with something im super passionate abt, that being music! more specifically, playing, listening to and analyzing music, both theory wise and how it makes me feel! so here's day one of this stuff where ill be talking about mainly vocals! (i do all kinds of music, literally any genre so feel free to send me songs to listen to!)

SHISHAMO is a band ive been listening to alot at the office and there's something incredibly soothing about the lead singers vocals that helps me get through the day. This last song in the shishamo 7 album really nails that in for me. Yume de Aete mo (夢で逢えても | Even If You Meet in a Dream) is a great showcase of miyazaki asako-san's vocal abilities. In the verses, she's in incredible control of her voice, being in total control of pitch despite the ever shifting dynamics. She's able to shift the timbre of her voice as well, singing with a more cutesy, staccato type of singing, to a much more fleshed out legato. Being able to switch it up allows for a greater range of calmer and more expressive sections that contrast with each other to make the song that much more interesting.

oho but then comes the chorus...

The chorus in this song always give me chills, sometimes makes me tear up if im in the right mood... There's something about the way her voice quivers while she sings that makes it resonate with me. It feels to me like the quiver in your voice when you try and speak about something emotional. Fighting back against tears, heartache, anxieties, everything keeping you back from spilling out your heart and voice. I know myself to quiver in my voice while i sing as well out of nerves, but miyazaki makes it intentional and that's able to convey more than nervousness. AND THEN SHE'S STILL ABLE TO SING THIS STUFF WITH DYNAMIC RANGE! she quiets down for the last chorus before repeating again with so much passion and power it makes my chest feel tight with emotion.

thats all i have to say, but there's definitely so much more to this song beyond vocals. the guitar riff is so relaxed and chill and im in the process of learning it for myself! i can't even speak to the meaning of the lyrics but such is the universality of music where emotions can well up regardless of lyrical understanding! but im sure lyrics make it all the more better and i wish i could understand it fully myself.

The amount of passion put into everything starcanwreckedpulp related is so inspiring to me, seeing these fairly small companies put so much time and energy into their projects to make them as amazing as they are for their audience who are passionate about what they make and love practically everything they release. I don't think any of them could make something lacking in passion and heart, it's truly admirable.

The joys of music

Music is a wonderful means of self-expression. Being able to connect with its melodies, lyrics, and bands is something that should never be taken for granted. It's just an added bonus to be able to share this with someone.

Mihawk, Caesar, Corazon

Mihawk: dark wave, post-punk, and cold wave. Examples: Twin Tribes and HAPAX

He'd find this type of music soothing. It'd probably help him relax after a long day of being surrounded by many chaotic characters and situations―letting himself get lost in the sound.

You'd find him sitting in front of the fireplace, eyes closed to fully immerse himself in the music.

After a few moments of listening with him, you'd comment on how charming it is.

Opening one of his eyes to look at you, he shifted his sight on the dancing embers.

Slowly getting up, he stood next to you, extending his hand.

Taking it with an inquisitive look, he lifted you up and held you close.

Swaying to the beats, his hand placed lightly on the small of your back and the other careesing your hand: you'd look dreamily into each other's eyes.

Placing your head on his chest, he'd hold you closely. Your souls intertwining with the melodies being played.

Caesar: cabaret metal and avant-grade metal. Examples: Tardigarde Inferno and Stolen Babies please ignore how on the nose this one is 😂

This type of music is often referred to as circus metal, and a lot of the music videos (especially from Tardigarde Inferno) are trippy, which remind me of Caesar. To me he's a walking acid trip.

Conducting experiments and research can take hours upon hours, so it was nice to have something on to boost his spirits.

The circus-like background with the added dark themes was the perfect inspiration for him to think of ways of testing out his newest brain-child on one of his many lackies.

Being enticed by the tunes dancing down the hall, you followed them to find Caesar happily leading someone into a chamber and pulling an ominous lever.

Regretting having found him in the middle of the trial and error portion, you slowly backed away from the entrance.

Unfortunately, your awkward hesitation caught his eye.

Greeting you warmly, he tried to coax you into coming over to him.

When seeing your eyes dart nervously to the chamber, he was quick to add, "Don't worry about this silly contraption! I'd never do such things to you." The softness never left his voice.

Corazon: Indie pop, progressive pop, alternative rock. Examples: The Real Tuesday Weld (linked to a specific song I think he'd love) and tallyhall

I think he'd appreciate the storytelling with these bands/genres. They hold a lot of emotion and are paired with light melodies. He'd probably also like when these are mixed with more upbeat moments.

Laying down on the grass, Rosinante cloud watched while he eased his worried thoughts.

The entrancing stories flowing through his earbuds teleported him to another reality―one where everyone would be safe from his brother's rising threat.

Enjoying the gentle breeze passing over him, his peaceful moment was abruptly put to a hault.

You startled him―seemingly popping up beside him out of thin air.

Releasing his 'silence' he asked if you needed something.

Kneeling down beside him, you told him you wanted to know what he was listening to.

Lending you one of his earbuds, his anxiety sudsided when he saw your face soften to the music.

Throwing his 'silence' up again, he enjoyed having you lay down next to him. The wind was picking up, causing the leaves above you to rustle and letting more sunlight peak through their gaps.

The Animatic Battle intro theme is probably the best object show intro purely based on context . It’s a mashup of 3 songs, the first being one called dizzy which was used in the original animatic battle intro, when Animatic was just a normal guy and nothing was really wrong (it now also serves as Animatic’s leitmotif!). It then SLAMS into the intensity of D.A.A.N.C.C.E., slapping all the plentiful characters past the screen and pausing on time when the song beats pause. This song’s (chord progression? bass?) is so intense and drops to being discordant, (possibly symbolizing animatic’s . General perception and what she’d evolved into) before rising a little (possibly symbolizing animatic’s still playful antics). Then it goes back to dizzy when showing animatic again, as well as his original contestants . The third song is barely present, but the fact that it’s in the back, even in it at all, makes it so much better. It’s baby hotline. The original intro theme of Object Fool (the first season). It just appears twice, two different audio bits that transition dizzy to D.A.A.N.C.C.E. and D.A.A.N.C.C.E. to dizzy. There’s something so beautiful about that . There’s something so amazing about this intro

Goddd I adore Telemachus!! I love youthful optimism!!! I love him dreaming about fighting monsters and starting to be able to go out and achieve those dreams!!!! I love him believing in himself even though he’s not quite sure who he is!!! I love him looking at the world that hasn’t been the kindest to him with wide and wondering eyes and loving it anyways!! I love him being so fascinated by all the world that he looks at a goddess and immediately says that’s my bestie now without hesitation!!!
