ive been so sick past week but seeing the new disney trailer for Wish awoke something petty inside of me. So petty I went bout redesigning the protagonists look cause I’m sorry but her outfit...? Kinda bland. Wanted to try adding lil bit more ‘oomph’ to the design.

Fun fact: we still don't know what was/ happened in Silver's dream!

Neither the prefect's and Grim's solo dreams, that was Mickey's dream 👀

That's the thing...I don't even know if Silver had a dream.

There's a chance he was missed just like Yuu and Grim were, or if he was in one, he was almost immediately made aware he was in one because of his unique magic, which in itself is still really mysterious,

I may be reading too into it, but Silver is definitely still a character with a lot of mystery surrounding him. We know what happened to him and who his biological parents are, but we don't entirely know what's wrong with him yet.

And Yuu even relates to Silver a couple times in book 7, and they at least have one connection- Mickey

The whole reason Yuu and Grim even make it out safe is because Silver has knowledge on how dream traveling works and is able to somehow locate them without even really remembering who Mickey is.

Mickey also describes Silver in book 6 as a mysterious stranger with unique eyes that was literally inside of his dream room. But Silver doesn't seem to remember any of that.

Silver also states that it's only possible for him to dream walk into dreams of people he's close to/has association with, so that would mean either Mickey is somehow close to him but he doesn't remember why, or it's just a strange occurrence like Yuu being able to contact Mickey through their mirror that had them cross paths at some point. Either way, both Yuu and Silver are communicating with someone who is implied to be outside of Twisted Wonderland.

Yuu and Lilia also find some similarities between Yuu and Silver (could be interpreted as Yuu and Lilia relating Yuu's problems with Silver's own, but Yuu also states that they've been having weird dream visions the whole game and it's getting more prevalent, and we still don't actually know why Silver falls asleep uncontrollably, we just have theories. It was never formally answered in book 7.)

The only dreams MC has in-game are sort of visions of the past (being the Disney films) coinciding with the overblots that happen in reality. We don't know much about Silver's dreams other than he can travel into other's dream and also 'dream rooms' like Mickey's.

Also having unique magic that can only work if you're asleep is strange, because it's not possible for it to cross over into the waking world.

Since he spent pretty much all of his life in a sleep spell, there's a chance he could've gotten it in the 400 years he spent asleep, and maybe being able to travel into the dreams of people from other dimensions like Mickey was possible. At that, why is it possible for Yuu too?

I really wish these plot points were touched upon more in 7. The loose ends part bug me but maybe this could mean that we'll get some answers for Yuu and Silver in the next book...Maybe 😭

My roommate and I have come to the conclusion (via the hostage episodes) that House and Thirteen’s dynamic isn’t father/daughter but rather weird uncle/troubled niece.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the only way House can get his feelings out is through projecting them onto other people, most commonly his patients. He can’t open up to anyone about all the shit he goes through everyday, so he resorts to bluntly telling everyone about the shit he thinks others go through. From what I’ve noticed, the more he sees himself in a patient, the more likely he is to tell them and his colleagues exactly how horrible they have it (they’re dying from an incurable disease, they’ll never be able to walk again, etc etc). It’s not like he does this intentionally, though, it just happens. His self-loathing, pain, depression, loneliness, addiction, and insecurity manifest themselves as hatred for others and for the world. Someone or something must be held accountable for his suffering, everything as a logical reason behind it and this is no exception. When he can’t find a force to blame, he becomes angry and resentful, taking it out on the whole world.

The bottom line is that he can’t accept the fact that he needs help, so he insists that everyone he knows has an issue he can figure out and solve. There’s always something more to be found, a new symptom to treat, another test to be done, something he could dig into further, one last pin to push so the lock will click open. Deep down, he hopes that discovering his friends’ issues or solving another patient case will reveal the key to his own problems. When this doesn’t work, he continues to grow more and more resentful, further perpetuating this cycle of hatred.

To be honest I always felt like one of the biggest tragedies that happened to Mickey Mouse is how he tends to be treated less of a character and more of a mascot for Disney.

And to be honest, Disney really is to blame here. I can't really blame people for seeing Mickey as a shallow boring mascot when their only exposure to him is him smiling on a t-shirt or coffee mug or maybe seeing an extremely sanitized version on a pre-school cartoon.

As someone who loves cartoon characters, I like to see them get to be themselves. And while a lot of other cartoons fade into obscurity, Mickey has a unique fate where he is still here but him as a character tends to fade instead. We were lucky to get the Rudish cartoons which helped breath life into him and really show that he can be a fun character even if it is a more exaggerated version of him. But it seems like that era is starting to end and I am not sure what will come afterwards.

And with earlier versions of him going into Public Domain soon, I know that we are going to see quite a few takes of him. I know many of those takes are coming from people who see Mickey as a stand in for all of the bad things Disney do and will probably portray him as an evil capitalist or some kind of monster. Which is whatever, I'm not going to be upset about people making their own art on their own feelings (though personally I think the joke got old after everyone tried to copy South Park and Simpsons for the millionth time in a row).

But I also feel like this is a chance to reclaim Mickey as return him as a character. Let him get to be a character with flaws and goals and not just a smiling face on merchandise. It would be nice to get some official Disney projects too. But if Disney won't, we can do it ourselves.

fictional girls who should have been gay

Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, from the 2004 "Micky, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers" animated movie.

The situation: GAY

Princess and lady-in-waiting. Is there anything more intimate and potentially gay than a girl and the girl who she specifically keeps around just to officially hang out with? I don't care I love it.

Their introduction scene is Minnie sighing over her future love (hypothetical and male and not necessarily royal) while blowing flower petals in Daisy's face

Daisy has reservations

but when Minnie is explaining True Love to her (while they hold hands and twirl around the room)

Minnie says she'll know her true love because she'll hear music (sentimental music is now playing) and they'll make her laugh- AND THEN DAISY LAUGHS

she starts saying that sounds silly...

but Minnie looks at her, and flutters her eyes at her...

and Daisy just MELTS. She clasps her hands over her heart and switches to sighing that that sounds lovely...

who drew and directed that and didn't notice how much it looks like Daisy just fell in love with Minnie. hey. I want to know

did they realize they could've had Daisy staring at something else?

Well apparently none of those options occurred to the film makers because these girls are supposed to be STRAIGHT somehow

Moments later, after a montage of Minnie strolling around the gardens dreaming of love (to the tune of a song about young love), an attempt on her life is thwarted by DAISY asking her to come over for a moment, moving Minnie out of the path of a falling safe meant to crush her

(by the way, holy heck it feels honestly scary. it just. DROPS)

The song lyric leading up to Daisy calling out for Minnie is "Your first your only love~! Love so-" (can't hear properly)

Minnie being willing to leave her daydreams of love for Daisy no questions asked is what saves her actual literal life I'm sorry but again why did they think having Daisy being the reason she lives was so important. This is a Micky Mouse cartoon legit just have Minnie stand up on her own and wander out of harm's way or get distracted by a flower or something but NOOOOO it's DAISY who unknowingly gets her out of danger, it's Minnie listening to her that saves her. ARGH IT COULD HAVE MEANT SO MUCH BUT

Minnie has actual whole conversations with Daisy. Actual. Talking. Sharing of thoughts and opinions. Chances to see their personalities and how they play off each other.

Princess Minnie, the slightly head in the clouds princess, and Daisy, grounded and a bit dry

Minnie: He loves me. He loves me… a lot. He loves me. He loves me even moooore. He loves me...

Daisy: Pardon me, Your Highness… (blows some free-floating petals off her face) you‘re, kinda mangling that flower.

like there's this set up for Minnie being rebellious enough to reject tradition and rules, being annoyed at them for cramping her style

Daisy: This, fantasy man- (the exasperation on those two words XD), d'you happen to know if he's royalty?

Minnie: Does it matter?

Daisy, breathlessly: Well, as you know, someone of your, royal stature, needs to be courted by a gentleman of royal blood.

Minnie: What a royal pain.

It's supposed to be about getting with a commoner instead, but... HMM I WONDER WHAT OTHER SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS MINNIE COULD BREAK.

A gentleman of royal blood? Well what if it's not! A gentleman!!

Minnie: Daisy, I can't marry someone I'm not in love with.

Daisy: You want love? Buy a dog.

the delicious set up as Daisy as jaded and practical BUT moments later she can't help herself with Minnie, she can't ruin Minnie's little happy bubble, she can't keep pushing Minnie away from her dream

When Minnie gazes at her all warm and mushy, Daisy has to giggle and admit that the idea of a true love who makes you laugh is just Lovely, actually

she says, while staring back at Minnie

WRITERS I WANT TO TALK WITH YOU I JUST WANT TO CHAT

but anyway, they have a flow, a rapport, they play off each other and clearly care about each other and, meanwhile, M e a n w h i l e

meanwhile, nearly all the time Minnie spends "being in love" with Micky is done in silent daydream episodes where they float on clouds and stuff. They get a montage of vague cute stuff. It's a whole lot of Nothing. Very pretty! But nothing

They see each other and it's supposed to be love at first sight. Whee. I'd find it cute if Minnie didn't already have someone and Micky wasn't mostly focused on being a good Musketeer. What do they give each other? They hardly even TALK! At the end of the movie I still have no idea how they'd get through a simple conversation! As a crush sure it reads fine- but true love? Where? When????

MOMENTS after meeting and "falling for" Micky, Minnie is yelling at him and his friends, furious because they accidently attacked Daisy thinking she was a threat

wow good job showing us Minnie's priorities here. Good job showing us she cares about Daisy

good job not using that to let her and Micky like, talk, or anything

Daisy, meanwhile, spends the whole movie with 0% interest in Donald at all, nothing but burns and scorn, only getting with him in the last moments literally just because why not

As in that's honestly the reason the movie gives. Not that she likes him. Just. Why not.

The point of Micky's story is him wanting to be a Musketeer. The emotional climax is always between him and his two friends. THE ROMANCE IS SO WEIRD IT DOES NOTHING AND COMES FROM NOTHING AND GOES NOWHERE.

Minnie has no character growth no obstacles nothing to do. she was ready to throw tradition aside for the man of her dreams the moment we saw her-

IMAGINE the crunchiness if she had either a moment of "wait actually, i think he's cute but this isn't love" OR "hey wait all this time I've been dreaming of a guy maybe it's not a guy though? Tee hee let's destroy some more social norms!"

(don't for the love of all things bring up lines of succession this is alternate universe france in the 1600-1700's there is a Lot To Gloss Over Okay)

And Daisy is RIGHT THERE.

Not interested in guys! Sighing over Minnie! Staying with her throughout the whole movie because apparently you can't kidnap the princess without her lady in waiting!

RAAAGH. I know, I know Disney and gay don't mix, especially in 2004- but why why why why did they think Minnie had to be with Micky in this one? Why did they make the emptiest crush ever instead of just letting Minnie and Daisy chill up on the throne dais together? IM IN PAIN EVERY TIME I REWATCH THIS.

tldr: Daisy was in love with princess Minnie, and if Minnie had known she's the exact sort of rebel princess to just marry her lady-in-waiting like a boss

as a gridoc and xtho enjoyer I have a suggestion:

Both couples have been together for a pretty long time. Neither are very open about it though, just by preference. At first it was kind of unintentional but at some point someone started keeping track of how many times Xisuma and Etho had accidentally dropped a hint that they’re together and then grian and doc got added and it’s spiraled since then.

so imagine some hypothetical hermit just chilling in the shopping district. and they end up starting a conversation with Xisuma and Etho. And say ethos like ‘yeah and when I was cooking Xisuma dinner last night’ and from like 6 feet away iskall, who had previously been sitting on a bench unnoticed, whips out a chalkboard from an unknown location. And then several seconds of panic gesturing go on (well, etho and Xisuma are , iskall seems pretty calm to be honest) before Iskall gives a sad expression and the chalkboard disappears (where is he putting an entire chalkboard??)

grian and doc have been crushing it since s10 started. Xisuma and Etho were decimating them for the entirety of the buttercups thing in s9 tho

(additional thing: another couple ends up on the blackboard without their knowledge as a sorta putting a random guy in the Olympics to show how good the Olympic athletes are thing)

Now I want to write a fic from the perspective of Iskall who's somehow the only perceptive enough person on the server to realize that Xtho is a thing since like s7 but it was confirmed in s8 (hard not to notice when your roommate is gone most nights and coming back like he doesn't smell like someone else's cologne and is wearing a jacket that is very clearly not his)

I'd imagine that gridoc has been flirting for years since Grian joined but only got together more recently and who are they not to brag about the other being a great partner

I'm having a hard time thinking of what couple on the server would be normal enough about the other to be used as the control group, but maybe a Mumbo pairing or False/Gem?

It ends with either another hermit finding the whiteboard and asking Iskall what the fuck or Etho finding it and deciding that he needs to step up his game

I think one of the fundamental problems with how people perceive the public domain is that its not characters they now own but "other companies big and small can now use these characters' there's like a separation between them and the idea of companies as content creators. To them its the job of companies to create content for them to consume. Therefore when they see stuff that disappoints them like a mickey mouse slasher film, they feel as though "they" should make better content. Consumerism has warped people's perception of themselves as potential creators.
