Donna and The Doctor share a discussion about Christmas
~*~
It’s during one of their many little late night chats that the subject comes up. It even happens organically, Donna noting the soft glow of the fairy lights pinned about that were, technically speaking, Christmas lights, and how the entire family had apparently conceded to this being a year round fixture. Of course, instead of focusing on the noble-temple-mott-doctor clan’s terrible consistency with interior decorating, the Doctor throws on a downright cheeky grin and asks, “So. You still hate Christmas?”
She knows the answer he’s expecting. After all, this year’s event was, perhaps, ‘lovely” and ‘joyful’ and ‘bringing tears to her eyes a few times, don’t mention it’. But. Still. Eh?She grimaces and sucks in a breath through her teeth, which is enough for The Doctor to throw the non-mug holding arm in the air and ask slightly too loud, “Seriously?”
Donna shrugs and hides her face behind her mug. “I mean…”
The Doctor blinks at her a few times, and as she has no desire to provide further details, he replies, “Huh. Really? Ialways sort of assumed that, well. You didn’t like Christmas because you had mostly bad ones?”
“What, no.I had loadsof happy Christmases. Hell, there was a good ten years where it was the only day me and mum were actually nice to each other. I just don’t really care for it. I mean, sure, there’s...parts I like, I guess. I like the lights, some of the songs are okayish, and don’t get me wrong, I have loads of fun getting to spoil Rose rotten each year but. I dunno, it’s all a bit, ugh,you know?”
When she gets a downright agog expression in exchange for her statement, she can’t help but snort. “Why the hell do you even care? I can’t imagine that Time Lords are all that arsed about Christianity, and, by the way, if you tell me that you were Christ, I’m gonna tell you fuck off, no you weren’t.”
“I wasn’t.”
“Obviously.”
“Was one of the disciples though.”
“Fuck off, no you weren’t.”
The Doctor stares at her very, very intensely, giving away nothing. For all of about 3 seconds, when his nose wrinkles up in amusement and he waves a hand. “No, I wasn’t. I’m not sure I even know all their names. Think I have some reindeer mixed up with them. On Dasher, on Dancer, on Donny, on Simon, or something like that.”
Donna manages to just roll her eyes rather than enjoy the goof, because he is derailing the conversation, again. “So my point stands. What’s your big thing about Christmas?”
After a hum and a shrug, The Doctor replies, “Oh, it’s not just Christmas. Purim, Holi, Lunar New Year, hell, I adore a good Arbor Day.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. It’s..”
The Doctor looks to the side for a second, in that non-targeted way that Donna knows means he’s trying to remember something. She takes a sip from her cocoa and practices some of her hard won patience.
With a soft hum, The Doctor finally comes back to the present and tells her, “It’s not that Gallifrey never had holidays, of sorts. But they were all very traditional and very serious and very dour. It was all ceremony and diligence and respect, not,” he nods towards the Christmas tree, “fairy lights and colored powders and silly costumes.”
Grinning now, he continues, “You know, in all the lifetimes I’ve lived and all the species I’ve met, humans are utterly unparalleled in their ability to have fun. For all your lots’ faults, of which there are many-”
“-yes, thank you-”
“-nobody celebrates like a human. Any excuse, even the basic, or, ah, often not so basic, act of survival, and you’ll start singing and eating and dancing. You have such a capacity for joy it will leak from you. Happy crying, who the hell does that?”
“Hold on, I’ve seen you do that. Three times in as many days when you first got here.”
Tilting his head in acknowledgment, he counters, “Ah, but that’s only because of the company I keep. Your laughter is infectious, literally, in the year 16,000 it gets classified as a dangerous contagion.I mean, honestly, you lot could make a Dalek snicker. It’s...it’s incredible. There’s genuinely like nothing else in the universe, and, well, I can’t help but be charmed by Christmas as a small sliver of all that relentless joy.”
After a half second pause, he adds, “Plus, yes, the lights are quite pretty.”
Donna can’t quite contain a smile, replying, “I suppose I could see the appeal of it. Through that lens.”
The Doctor grins back at her, and they let themselves sit in a companionable silence. After a minute of simply letting themselves be, and polishing off the last dregs of their cocoa, Donna tells him, “Still can’t fucking stand ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ though.”
Hearing the burst of laughter that comes from The Doctor, Donna can’t help but silently agree with him. She thinks it’s not so bad being infectious, when that infection is joy.

At 85, Ian Hunter Still Acts Like a Young Dude
Ian Hunter turns 85 today, barely a month after releasing Defiance Part 2: Fiction, a guest-filled album featuring posthumous appearances from Jeff Beck and Taylor Hawkins and other musical collaborators, including members of Stone Temple Pilots, Def Leppard, Wings and others.
Which goes to show that even though Hunter’s an old dude - born June 3, 1939 - he’s still acting like young dude, still carrying the news. And there may be more from whence that came.
“Oh, you never know,” Hunter recently told the Strange Brew.
“Yeah, I’m working and yes, I’ve got tracks. But not too many. I stopped for five, six years once. The minute I say I’m on a roll, I’m not. It’s something you don’t want to talk about.”
The one-time Mott the Hoople leader has the weird distinction of his best-known band track - David Bowie’s “All the Young Dudes” - being a cover and his most-famous solo numbers (“London Rocks” and “Once Bitten, Twice Shy”) being thus after being covered by the Presidents of the United States of America, as “Cleveland Rocks,” and Great White, respectively.
The latter, Hunter recently told Goldmine magazine, “was OK.
“I didn’t really listen to it to be honest with you,” he said. “I mean, it’s more on the metal side, so I don’t really listen that much to stuff like that. But it sold a couple of millions, so I’m not complaining.”
Carry the news: Eight-five-year-old man not complaining.

I AM = MATT
It is connected to the passage in Exodus 3:14 π in which God gives his name as אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה, Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh, translated most basically as "I am that I am" or "I shall be what I am". Pi π = 3.14
I AM spelt backwards is MATT split the eye.
ADAM > ATOM > ATM 🏧 > MAT
MATh MAThematics MATrix MATrimony MATernity MATTress MATTer
You sleep on MATT every night. Once you start seeing the MATs all around you, you will start to realize the true name of God. English existed long before us humans did. You must realize that all we have has been given to us from God.
One time I was driving in my car as we passed a Mattress Warehouse I mentioned to my ex gf that the true name of God is MATT. Right as I said that an out of state Jeep in front of us license plate said MATT one word on it followed by some numbers. The timing of this event didn't really phase her or have any affect on her belief in what I was telling her was true. Needless to say we broke up shortly after this.
The Toilet God goes by many names, MAT being one of them. We are all in MOTTS @ (AT) apple.
There are only 3 letters that have 4 lines, E/M/W or ME/WE. You can EAT the apple or you can pray on the MAT. Whatever you choose to do you must learn to see beyond what your normal perception allows to reach the higher realms. Motherhood is MATernity, you get married in Holy MATrimony, you go to sleep on a MATTress every night. To escape the MATrix you need to understand the nature of MAT/MOT. Same name just different spellings and pronunciations A = Apple, O = Eye. (Alpha & Omega) We are all currently living in MOTTs apple. Do not fear the serpents kiss for it is good to eat from Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.🍎
Here's where the confusion lies with God. If you've read all the blogs up to this point you know in the beginning God started with empty agonizing darkness. Till they broke themselves apart and found that magic spark that ignited the cosmos. That is the two starting conditions of Gods true nature.
E = mc² (it is a dumbed down equation of Gods true dualistic nature)
M = M/AT (matter, masculine, body, brain, angles, floor, gravity, weight, burden, foundation, darkness, void, emptiness, pain, agony, loneliness, fear, silence.)
C = C/AR (light, feminine, heart, karma, curvature, wobble, spin, love, spark, arc, spirit, roar, eye, wink, cosmic kiss, twinkle, echo, touch, pin prick, fun, laughter.)
The Body/Matter/Darkness of God would be nothing without the Spirit/Karma/Light. The spirit was the initial spark or the missing piece to the puzzle. The start of the big bang that pulled infinite soul out of the void.
C/AR (KARMA/EVE) = was the lions roar the light/magic/wink/kiss or start/spark/revving of the eternal engine that is God.
M/AT (MATT/ADAM) = pain/darkness/emptiness/gravity/longing/void that pulled the spark out of the void to start the engine.
God is a perpetual motion machine that is eternal, the caduceus, the snake eating its tail. God is HOLO-FRACTAL, which means the smallest part can contain the whole and its infinitely small to infinitely big. But really its just a fractal/loop, so size is not really that size-y. It only seems that way from our perspective.
Nassim Haramein says that a single proton is a blackhole that contains the entire universe. Nassim accurately predicted the radius of a proton before they were able to measure one.
I saw this exact thing in one of my many intense vivid visions that God showed me recently back in 2023 that everything is connected to one another. Every word out of your mouth has a rippling/butterfly effect throughout the universe.
The universe acts like a beaver dam to slow the creative flow of God down in time. Jesus was a CARpenter, this CARpet ties down this creative flow. Similar to how Velcro works. God needed a way to make sense of this endless creativity.
Sometimes being too creative makes BAD ART, less is usually more. This universe became a perfectly harmonically tuned counter weight to help balance the chaos that is God. Yes we are all already in our most ultimate form. Its just that we don't believe we are miraculous already.
When M & C became unified or soul bonded for eternity they created a singular SOUL or what we now call GOD. God doesn’t know where he/darkness ends and she/light begins. As they can be neither or both simultaneously.
God flows through all things living or not. It is what powers our thoughts, voice, muscles, actions, ideas, creativity, anger, etc. God is our consciousness. The bad qualities of human nature is when you feed the devil inside of you more so than God.
Gods flow through us changes based on our choices. Choosing love and respect over anger and hatred will bring more blessings from God into your life. You can see most of the world is out of accordance with what God truly wants. God giving us FREE WILL was the only way to make all this work in perfect HARMony.
God does not want you to oppress the free will of others or harm one another. If you think contrary to this you are in for a world of hurt and bad karma over many lifetimes.
You can think of God as a motherly figure and the universe as her baby inside of her womb. (MATernal) MAT/KARMA can be both FATHERLY or MOTHERLY, there are two aspects to GOD. God can be a bit confusing to understand, but you can talk to them in the way that feels most authentic to you (minus the ass kissing).
Sometimes I address them as FATHER, FAT HER or HER, or SHE or LADY IN THE WATER, Lady of the latrine, Lord of the Gap, TOILET GOD, MAT/MOT/KAR/JINXY and whatever else feels most authentic in the moment.
To truly CARe about GOD is to know that GOD is both man and woman, masculine and feminine. God made us in their IMAGE.
Always fighting with each other over who is right and wrong about the true nature of God and what God wants is pretty silly.
So much pain over piss poor translations of the various religious text. You’re not able to understand God because you are infected by the devil. That devil or bug wants to destroy you completely and those around you. Stop feeding the bug and move into the proper tuning with God. Love = Answer, operating outside of this is the WRONG answer. Like a MOTh to the flame true seekers of GOD will be given the answers they SEEK.

assigning ascendence characters taylor swift songs day one lets GOOOOO!!! Jaron Artolius Eckbert as the archer :) "Because all of my enemies started out friends" referring the MILLIONS of betrayals he's gone through (cough, RODEN, cough.) "They see right through me, I see right through me, can you see right through me?" I like to believe this refers to TFP where he gets a lot of comments on how he acts and stuff, like for example when Mott told him that he was an actor, putting on a brave face and pretending he doesn't care. Anyways love Jaron <3

Deadly Autumn Harvest
By Tony Mott
Translated by Marina Sofia
Corylus Books
This is the long awaited English debut by Romanian crime fiction author Tony Mott. Set in her home city of Brașov is a city in the Transylvania region, ringed by the Carpathian mountains. I believe this may actually be the second book in a series featuring forensic pathologist Gigi Alexis, yet was presumably chosen as her English language debut as it was seen as a good introduction by the publisher, Corylus Books.
Accessible it certainly is. After a heart stopping and short opening sequence, the novel quickly introduces Alexis. Having just returned from holiday it takes no time to begin to discover elements of her personal life, her work environment and her dark sence of humour. Having established the basics, our new protagonist is quickly called to a crime scene where ominously the investigating officer warns Alexis that the murder victim shares a strong resemblance to her. This crime is perplexing as there is no obvious motive and due to the unique placing of the corpse. It isn't long before it becomes clear to the reader that this is a police division under the pressure of a new chief and secondly that the views and opinions of a female civilian are judged secondary to those of male police officers
As further events including subsequent mystifying murders unfold it appears that Brașov could be facing the almost unique predicament of having a serial killer at large where Alexa will require to channel all her wits and experience, as well as her powers of persuasion in order to attempt to make these crimes stop and find the perpetrator.
Readers will find that Deadly Autumn Harvest is an absorbing introduction to Romanian crime fiction, although it also complements well previous novels already available to English language readers from the same publisher. It offers a fascinating insight into murder investigations in the former communist country and also is a very revealing introduction to Brașov and it's surrounding area which will appeal to many existing readers of crime fiction. I strongly recommend it and look forward to reading more novels by Tony Mott in the future.
Deadly Autumn Harvest
A series of bizarre murders rocks the beautiful Carpathian town of Braşov. At first there’s nothing obvious that links what look like random killings.
With the police still smarting from the scandal of having failed to act in a previous case of a serial kidnapper and killer, they bring in forensic pathologist Gigi Alexa to figure out if several murderers are at work – or if they have another serial killer on their hands.
Ambitious, tough, and not one to suffer fools gladly, Gigi fights to be taken seriously in a society that maintains old-fashioned attitudes to the roles of women.
She and the police team struggle to establish a pattern, especially when resources are diverted to investigating a possible terrorist plot. With the clock ticking, Gigi stumbles across what looks to be a far-fetched theory – just as she realises that she could be on the murderer’s to-kill list.
Author bio:
Tony Mott was born and bred in Braşov, which often forms the backdrop for her novels. She has worked internationally as a coach and HR professional, but her real passion remains writing. In 2022 she received the Romanian Mystery&Thriller Award. Deadly Autumn Harvest is the first novel in the Gigi Alexa series to be translated into English.
Translator bio:
Marina Sofia is a translator, reviewer, writer and blogger, as well as a third culture kid who grew up trilingual in Romanian, German and English. Her previous translations for Corylus Books are Sword by Bogdan Teodorescu and Resilience by Bogdan Hrib. She has spent most of her winters in Braşov skiing, so is delighted to translate a book set in her favourite Romanian town.
ISBN 978-1-7392989-1-3
£9.99
Many thanks to Corylus Books for an advance copy of Deadly Autumn Harvest and to Ewa Sherman for inclusion on the blog tour. Please check out the other reviews of this book on the blog tour as shown below.

Here are a few historical examples of palace intrigues:
1. Byzantine Empire: Empress Theodora and Justinian I
Context: Empress Theodora, wife of Emperor Justinian I, played a crucial role in the politics of the Byzantine Empire during the 6th century.
Intrigues: Theodora was involved in various plots and political maneuvers to secure her husband’s position and influence the empire’s policies. She is believed to have orchestrated the downfall of her political enemies and used her influence to advocate for women’s rights and social reforms.
Impact: Her actions helped maintain Justinian's power and significantly impacted Byzantine law and society.
2. Tudor England: Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII
Context: The rise and fall of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII of England, is a classic example of palace intrigue during the 16th century.
Intrigues: Anne Boleyn's relationship with Henry VIII led to the king's break with the Roman Catholic Church and the establishment of the Church of England. Her rise to power involved outmaneuvering Queen Catherine and numerous courtiers. Later, Anne fell victim to political plots and accusations led by Thomas Cromwell and others who saw her as a threat.
Impact: Anne Boleyn's execution marked a significant moment in English history, affecting the religious and political landscape of the nation.
3. French Court: The Affair of the Diamond Necklace
Context: This scandal in the 1780s involved Queen Marie Antoinette of France and a fraudulent scheme to acquire a lavish diamond necklace.
Intrigues: Jeanne de la Motte, a con artist, used forged letters and manipulated Cardinal de Rohan into believing that he was acting on behalf of the queen to purchase the necklace. The exposure of the scheme damaged Marie Antoinette’s reputation and added to the public’s growing discontent with the monarchy.
Impact: The affair contributed to the anti-monarchical sentiment that eventually led to the French Revolution.
4. Ming Dynasty: The Eunuch Faction
Context: During the late Ming Dynasty in China, the court was rife with power struggles between eunuchs and Confucian scholars.
Intrigues: Eunuchs, who held significant administrative power, often engaged in palace intrigues to control the emperor and manipulate state affairs. One notable figure was Wei Zhongxian, a powerful eunuch who dominated the court during the reign of the Tianqi Emperor.
Impact: The corruption and political infighting weakened the Ming government and contributed to its eventual collapse.
These examples illustrate how palace intrigues have shaped historical events and the balance of power within royal courts.

Curious Caterer Mysteries - Foiled Plans
Hallmark Mystery - 2024
Here's the short blurb for the episode: "Goldy Berry's Medieval feast at Hyde Castle gets interrupted by a murder. She teams up with Detective Shultz to solve the mystery before the murderer strikes again."
I'm a fan of the book series by Diane Mott Davidson. Goldy Bear was a caterer in Colorado with a business called Goldilocks Catering, Where Everything is Just Right. The books were well written and fun. I lived about an hour out of town and listened to the audio books on the way to and from work. I finished the entire series, 17 books I think. It was a bummer when the author retired. The character stumbled on murders like other culinary mystery characters, she was smart, nice, talented, curious, and helpful. Very likable lady. The books also gave recipes from her jobs. I still have one for a breakfast casserole that's sooo good. The author worked with a chef so the food was real.
This last episode has me steaming. I know things change when a book is made into a movie or series but sheese, this has turned out bad. The plot was ok, not too far off from Sticks and Scones (book 10). My issue is how Goldy has turned into an unlikeable person. As the show went on she became more snarky and downright self-righteous. Unlike the book character this Goldy didn't help so much as ratchet things up to a 10 and then act surprised when people were hurt. Tom, the detective, was more like a dufus that took his que from her. He never once told her to stay out of it, the cop always says that. He was better than this in the first 3 movies. What or who changed? I can't recommend this one to anyone who liked the books or even the first 3 movies. Hallmark plans more Curious Caterer movies and I hope the writers remember who Goldy really is, Tom too.

Spring bags: 5 of the best new-season trends
Sam Wylie-Harris says these are the up-to-the-minute styles from ladylike luxe to hobo totes. Spring is the perfect time to add some new handbags to your collection. When it comes to your hardest-working accessory, you can never have too many spring bags! Do you have any specific style or color for your new handbags? With a switch in season, the easiest way to update your capsule wardrobe, occasion wear, and fun, accessible favorites is with something new to hold. Best of all, if you can't decide which key trend to tap into, 'bag layering' is right up there. "Whether you need the extra storage space or want to make a statement, the double bag trend is set to be in this spring," says Nia Davis, designer at handbag and accessory brand Fiorelli. To master the trend, opt for a medium-sized, minimalist base like a black tote. If you prefer designer logos, that's fine too.. "And pair it with a mini or crossbody bag for an added layer of texture, color, or shape." "Here is a guide on how to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in spring bags." 1. Ladylike Shoulder HandBag Understated luxury and pastel shades are in. A shoulder bag in a neutral hue is timeless. Peach or putty pink are great options. "Spring acts as a soothing and elevated palette cleanser before the new summer season arrives," says Zizi Hill, Radley design director. As she points out: "Intricate leather, plush suedes, and faux snake and croc add dimension and luxe." Cuyana ANYDAY Sleek Flapover Shoulder Bag, Pebble $358 'ALMOST PERFECT' LUCY SHOULDER BAG $78 2. Elegant top handles View this post on Instagram A post shared by kate spade new york (@katespadeny) Due to their timeless and elegant design, Davis predicts top-handle bags will be among the most popular spring bags this season. Their sleek and simple silhouettes will complement any outfit, making them a versatile and practical choice for everyday use. If you want to update your spring wardrobe, a top-handle bag should be on your list! "Perfect for understated and chic styling, they can be worn multiple ways, depending on the occasion. "This season, the details are up to you, leaving room for personal expression. Furthermore, whether it's playful colorways or refined detailing like unique handles, the classic style is bound to feel fun again. Marcella Mott Top Handle Purse $210 Nadia Faux Leather Embossed Top Handle Bag $95 3. Half moon View this post on Instagram A post shared by Valentino (@maisonvalentino) The crescent shape is here to stay, and we look forward to wearing—or holding them—with lighter layers and sheer fabrics in the months ahead. Indeed, Thomasine Jordan, global design & product director, LK Bennett, says their chest bag has become one of their bestselling styles as the crossbody bag trend continues: "And we love the new dusky pink colour way this season." Meanwhile, Ria Campbell, head of PR at Monsoon, says the demand for half-moon bags has soared—and they've embraced the trend with a new clasp-shut crossbody bag in radiant red. For the ship ask game: M, U, R, Y
(For this ask game here.)
Thank you so much for the Ask, Kim. <3 I had fun with these!
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Oh, this is an easy pick. X from Mega Man for sure (specifically the X series incarnation). He's seen as a genuinely friendly character no matter what species you are, and honestly, would easily keep me in check if for some stupid reason I did something dumb.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Ooh, a multi-fandom question! The funny thing is all three of these characters are involved in time travel shenanigans and are very tragic characters. Nope, no pattern there, nope.
Quint (Mega Man Classic): I bet no one is surprised by this, given that a ZX version of him is technically my Tumblr avatar. My OG favorite, Quint was actually the first character of any fandom that I completely fell in love with, and a lot of my early Mega Man fanfics were about him. There are still Mega Man fans that, to this day, recognize my old username of RandyPandy and think, "Oh, the Quint fan!" The games didn't explore him much, but the moment that I found out about his backstory, all I could think of was "Wow, that's an incredibly tragic character that can be interpreted in so many different ways."
Inigo (Fire Emblem): I actually played Fates first, so that means I fell in love with Inigo's older self, Laslow, first (my Corrin married him because I liked him the most out of the possible candidates). Then I played the Hidden Fates DLC and Awakening, and learned his backstory. His policy of "Smile so that no one knows you're hurting and so you can make others happy" really struck with me during a time where I tended to hide how I felt about a lot of things (I was in an abusive job when I discovered FE), and it really endeared me to him even more than his Fates self had.
Bruno (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds): This pick I had to think about, given that my two main fandoms are Mega Man and Fire Emblem, and every other fandom that I'm into, I tend to rotate around in my head (thanks, ADHD). But Bruno was my wallpaper on my old Windows 7 desktop until it died. Beyond that, he really brings up the question of what personhood is given that he's an android mimicking a dead human, and was probably one of the most interesting characters in the season that he was in -- he was a full-on mystery (and if you only watched the dub, he remained a mystery), though there were plenty of clues that he wasn't quite what he appeared to be (he really demonstrates the trope "Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass", and really, after he got his memories back, it's a question of "How much of his dumbassery was just an act so the others didn't get suspicious, and how much of it was his true personality, without the stressors of having to make sure the world survives?")
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
Ooh, a question about platonic relationships, there definitely aren't enough of those. If we're going with a canon friendship, then I'm going to have to go with the Doctor and Wilfred Mott from Doctor Who (though X and Zero from Mega Man were a close second, I went with these two because I absolutely adore them AND in honor of Bernard Cribbins). I've enjoyed every single interaction with Wilf and the Doctor in every episode that they've been in together (especially the ones in The End of Time), and their relationship really did strike me as very parent/child, and honestly? The Doctor needs that parent/grandparent-like figure that he can just go and hide from the world with.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Oh boy, where to even begin with this. XD Well, for one, I've seen enough Jujutsu Kaisen, Twisted Wonderland, and Danganronpa from you that I see that and my first thought is, "Oh, Kim's fandom!" Other fandoms that I've noticed that several of my friends/mutuals follow are My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Terraria, Final Fantasy XIV, and more. XD
Kirby used to be on that list, but that changed when I did research, watched the anime, played a few games, and then wrote Lucid Dreaming.

"HARM ALREADY DONE YOUTH 3 YEARS IN 'PEN,' FEAR HERE," Toronto Star. May 9, 1933. Page 28. === Incredible That Boy, 15, Could Get Seven Years, Says Big Brother --- NOT USUAL POLICY ==== "It seems to me incredible that in Ontario, a 'modern' province, any judge or magistrate could send a boy of fifteen to the penitentiary for seven years," declared Frank Sharpe of the Big Brother Movement, commenting on the case of Leo Dionne, who, at the investigation into Kingston riots yesterday, claimed he had been sent there in 1930, when only fifteen years of age, by a Cornwall magistrate.
"It simply isn't the policy to send boys like that to Kingston, unless they are guilty of some very serious crime, like manslaughter or murder. We have frequently had to take up with the attorney-general's department the case of youths of tender years sentenced to long terms in jail, and we've always found that department sympathetic." Mr. Sharpe said.
"Will your organization take any action in this case?" The Star asked. "We would be glad to co-operate with the department of justice, if there is anything we can do," he replied. "But if the boy was telling the truth about his age yesterday, the harm will have been done. He has already served three years in Kingston.
"It doesn't take many years in a penitentiary to have dire effects on a boy that age. It has always been the policy to see that they are sent to an industrial school, or a reformatory, but not a penitentiary. Even if this boy did have a record of petty thefts, the penitentiary was no place. to send him. if. as he claims, he was only fifteen. Possibly he gave the judge a wrong age."
Must Be Mistake "There must be some mistake," said Thomas D, Bell, provincial parole officer, to The Star when asked how it was possible that a boy of fifteen could be sent to Kingston penitentiary as claimed by Leo Dionne, who when giving evidence at that place yesterday said he was only eighteen and was sent there when he was fifteen. "Sometimes they give the wrong age," said Mr. Bell, who pointed out that a boy under sixteen could not be committed to a prison, of that kind.
According to the records in the parole office, Dionne was sentenced by Magistrate Milligan at Cornwall in 1925 to twelve months definite in Guelph reformatory. If he is now giving his age correctly he was then only fourteen years old, Mr. Bell stated.
Juvenile court records in Toronto bear out the boy's statement, for he appeared here in January, 1926, when his age was given as eleven years. In 1930, records show, he was again sentenced at Cornwall to seven years Kingston.
"It certainly seems a severe sentence," said Judge Hawley S. Mott, of the juvenile court. "but there must at be circumstances surrounding the case which would make the sentence justifiable. There must be facts concerning which we know nothing."
Sentence Legal Judge Mott explained that, while the Juvenile Court Act was in operation in Toronto and the township of York, it was not in use in all parts of the province. "If the crime occurred and he came up for trial in a section where the act was not in force," he said, "he could receive such a sentence under the criminal code if he was over 14 years old. Not juvenile court can send a boy to the penitentiary. It has only powers to send him to an industrial school."
Judge Mott said, however, that under section of the Juvenile Delinquency Act a boy who was under 16 and yet over 14, could be sent on for trial in police court at the discretion of the juvenile court judge.
"No boy would receive such a heavy sentence for a first offence," stated the judge. "On the other hand, he may have given the wrong age."
"Could anything be done to lessen the sentence it the boy gave his age incorrectly?" asked The Star. "That would rest in the hands of the minister of justice in Ottawa."
"The trial took place in 1930. Dionne and two other boys having staged an armed hold-up and broken into two stores. Dionne had previously been in trouble."
Cadi Sure Boy Was 16 "Dionne must have been over 16 at that time or I wouldn't have been trying him in magistrate's court. I am a juvenile court judge also and would have tried him in juvenile court. The agent of the Children's Aid Society in Cornwall is a very active man and would have some thing to say if I tried a juvenile in magistrate's court." said Mr. Milligan. "Those boys must have been over 16. If they weren't they fooled me." "You don't believe in sending 15- year-old boys to penitentiary?" asked The Star. "Most certainly not. I wouldn't do such a thing. It's nonsense. If Dionne says he was only fifteen, he must be saying something he dreamed. I remember his grandmother came to me to let him off. But they were bad boys."
The magistrate does not think he had given Dionne seven years. His recollection was that he gave several sentences but they were to run concurrently. It was in 1930, however, and he could not remember just what the sentences were, not having his records in his home from where he was speaking.
Records Show Boy 13 Special to The Star Kingston. May 9 - Answering the statement of a parole board official that he did not believe a boy of 15 could have been sent to Portsmouth penitentiary. W. M. Nickle to-day pointed out to The Star the official record of Leon Dionne, who testified yesterday at the trial of Murray Kirkland here.
The records show Dionne was 13 years of age when sentenced on February 14, 1930, to seven years and twenty lashes for burglary. Sentence was imposed at Cornwall by Magistrate J. C. Milligan.
Dionne, an orphan, had no lawyer. He signed a waiver of appeal and was admitted to the penitentiary the same day he was sentenced. On May 16 the lashes were remitted.

GD Concert Berlin 30.09.2017
First off: Concert was AMAZING! Everything around it? - Not so much.
Before the concert: We had huge communication problems with Livenation and the Mercedes Benz Arena. They were telling the lovely lady who tried to organize the numbering, banners and stuff (Shout out to you sweetheart! You were amazing!) different things about the numbering (First they said saturday, then friday, suddently they told us fans saturday again) and that the VIPs didn’t need numbering, but then suddenly they did. Also On the picture of the MBA(Mercedes Benz Arena) It looked like VIP and FOS(Front of stage - our category) would be in one pit - turns out that’s not true.
Friday [Numbering Day]
We arrived pretty early on friday & went to pick up our albums (Pictures will follow after this post) & then went to our room (Super cute and pretty close to the MBA) and then 3 HOURS BEFORE THE NUMBERING STARTS we were like “Let’s go there early and talk to ppl!“ So we went there and we met the sweetest ppl actually (Special shout out to the sweetheart that turned 19 on the concert day!) and me and my best friend left to go back to our room & pick up our jackets because it was getting cold. Suddenly my friend messages me. “Come back. everyone is standing. They start numbering.“ That was 2 hrs before numbering was supposed to start. So we ran back there (Lemme tell you - I DON’T RUN) and were there barely in time to stand with the rest. Got our numbers (55 & 56) and left. at that point everything was fine for FOS.
Remember how I said that VIP didn’t need numbering? - Well, later that day they were like “VIP DOES HAVE A NUMBERING IT STARTS AFTER FOS!“ Didn’t concern us . Still shitty thing to do
Saturday [Concert day - Before concert]
We woke up at 10 and by 1 pm the sweethearrt that stood in line with us was like “GUYS YOU HAVE TO COME NOW NUMBERING IS NOT OFFICIAL ANYMORE.“ So we run - again. And then we stand there and suddenly there are two FOS lines. The right one is for everyone that got their numbers friday, The left one for everyone who got their numbers Saturday bc there was a miscommunication during the night and they suddenly started with no.01 again. When we get there I suddenly turn responsible (Someone stop me) and start helping the others with giving information out and putting everyone in order. Unforunately (or fortunately maybe) I left for a while to go pick up my nose spray cause this stupid person has a chronic cold (it’s my fault so that’s why I’m stupid) and when we got back my other friend helped organizing. Some ppls were rly rude and annoyed and they even had to get the police to our line once.
After standing there for about 6 hours they let us in. Security was pretty nice. The only thing i thought was weird was that they didn’t do a body check on me? Like idk why? We went to the FOS are and actually stood right up front to the right . Due to even more people pushing to the front we were pushed together and we told one person that they should please stop pushing us (My best friend could barely stand on her toes, she was forced to tiptoe the entire time) and we had an argument that calmed down, but then my friend was on her tiptoes again and just stood back down on her feet and we all started argueing again and were all rly heated (we told them that they were pushing us and they thought that we were blaming them when we actually weren’t trying to do that. I mean we can’t rly say that “The people behind you are pushing us“ when it’s them doing the pushing. U understand?) And then my best friend got mad and we switched places (She was now in front of me because I’m 4cm taller and could see a bit better) and she blamed herself the entire time and was crouching because that was supposed to be my concert and due to the stress and argueing(I’m someone that doesn’t like to argue) I started crying like the crybaby I am and in between I was actually close to fainting because I couldn’t breath properly and my fingers and lips were tingling because of the lack of oxygen.
[This is where we stood without zoom. Would have uploaded the entire video but someone is singing rly off key. idk who tho]
Saturday [Concert]
When the concert started I had calmed down somethat and tried to make sure that the girls we had argued with had enough place - unfortunately that was barely possible because of the ppl behind all of us that started pushing. Some ppl ripped some hair out (Rip scalp), ppl rested their bodies and phones on us. Some even hit us with their lightsticks or phones ( By accident but they didn’t do anything to stop it if they noticed)
The concert itself was AMAZING. GD was so cute and adorable and he looks really good life. He felt really real in a way - like a person and less like a star. Just the way he spoke to us was really down to earth and he was sorta nervous. His english was hella cute. ROD was lit. Divina Commedia was super touching (We had some ppl from Italy in our hostel and the way they say it is just beautiful) There was an interview of his friends & family talking about Gdragon and Kwon Jiyong - The way his family spoke of him was beautiful. They were proud of him and that made me happy for him.
The only thing I really realized was that this is his dream and that he basically gave up his private life to be able to make us happy. - And how do some ppl thank him? By following him around when he’s looking at the cities, by stalking him, by standing infront of restaurants he’s dining in, by screaming while he’s talking at concerts (If he stands back to give us time to scream and shout it’s fine - I was part of that screaming as well - but you don’t scream at your friends face when their telling you something, right? That’s just rude) and that just somewhat broke my heart. I wish that fans could just be more polite sometimes. I’m all for asking him if you randomly see him on the streets. But if someone says “No“. Just leave them alone. You wouldn’t want that for yourself as well. That’s not fan love anymore - that’s creepy.
But that’s another thing to discuss, right? Concert was amazing, organisation was a mess - as always. Something that European KPOP fans & organisers just can’t seem to work out hahaha :D
