Been seeing a lot of takes like this and I appreciate where they're coming from, it's a good idea to be especially wary of excessive criticism aimed at things made by and for women but like. Yes you do see hot takes about Marvel, and the lego movie, and Batman films. To say this with your whole chest you have to spend zero time in leftist circles and pay zero attention to criticism of big blockbuster movies or just. Yknow. Lie to make your point.

More relevantly you see this specific thing happen whenever a big corporation makes flaccid listless gestures towards progressivism for the sake of their bottom line. Because the end result is always too toothless to have meaning for leftists while still being offensive enough to right wingers simply by virtue of having a lot of women or gay people or people of colour in it to have them frothing at the mouth. But to act like the only reason to criticize the movie is sexism is glossing over some very real problems and like, straight up falling for the corporate propaganda. Yes every big blockbuster movie actually does get criticized bc they are political tools that serve the people in power. Not every big blockbuster is also being sold as a feminist masterpiece though, so you probably are gonna hear it more about Barbie. Talon and Manipulation

Alright, the people have spoken so here you are. An analysis on the manipulation found in Talon. Specifically the inner council.

(Note; Ramattra will not be included in this because he is getting his own separate analysis, not only that but he is working with Talon, he is not a member of Talon)

Baptiste

Now you might think I'll start with the obvious choices like Reaper, Sigma and Widow, but no, I want to start with Baptiste. Specifically the manipulation used to bring in regular people into Talon.

In the Liberation mission if you play Baptiste when the Ramattra's speach comes on Baptiste will say "I recognize propaganda when I see it", meaning Talon most likely doesn't personally pick out their soldiers, they use propaganda. Which means that there is likely more people like Baptiste who joined Talon to make the world a better place and are now lying to themselves to keep that vision going.

This is only the beginning of the analysis and we already see that the foundation of Talon is built on manipulation, on the altered vison of what Talon is.

Widowmaker

Ok, let's get into the meat of it.

Widow, the manipulation Widow faced is probably the most commonly talked about, but only in context of her brainwashing and being forced to kill Gerard. No one really talks about what happened after. After she killed Gerard she was left without anyone to turn to and no where to go, she was terrified of how the kill made her feel. So she went to the only place she thought she would be safe, a place where she could chase the high she got from the kill, she ran back to Talon. Widows motivation for joining Talon isn't just to get a adrenalin rush, but it's also out of survival, and I think that's why she's so hostile towards Baptiste.

Baptiste got out, he survived, and now he's being helped by Overwatch. He's living proof that what happened to her, what she's doing, was unnecessary, that there was a possibility that if she stayed with Overwatch she could have gotten help. So she's hostile, she's angry at the world and at herself, but she can't leave now because she's in too deep, she's done too much. Widow's loyalty to Talon is literally programmed into her, though she did seemingly make the choice to fully join Talon, she can't make the choice to leave.

At least not yet.

Sigma

Sigma is probably the most simple, he's broken, he was broken before Talon captured him, and the only people who seem to care are Overwatch associates and Sombra. Sigma is incredibly unstable and Talon uses that to their advantage. Sigma goes through constant experimentation, though we don't know what this experimentation is, considering it's Moira conducting them we can assume it's bad.

Sigma is honestly the most tragic out of most of the Talon members, unlike everyone else we know who was in Talon, he's the only one who genuinely didn't have a choice. He was taken by Talon to which he was then used for his research and powers. We can assume that Sigma hasn't gone on any field missions, or at the very least ones that included the obvious harming of other people.

The only reason Sigma hasn't left Talon left is because he is genuinely being sheltered from the harm that Talon is doing, to the point where when they do do questionable things he either thinks it's normal, or he's oblivious to it.

Reaper

Gabriel Reyes is probably the epidemy of the affect Doomfists manipulation, he's honestly the reason I wanted to make this analysis. At the point when Reyes first interacts with Doomfist its after Ana's death and during the point in time where he and Jack couldn't be in a room without fighting. If you have also seen my Cassidy analysis you would also know that I think he and Cassidy drifted apart by this point as well. When Gabriel first interacted with Doomfist he was without a support network, and as we've established, Talon uses that to take advantage of people.

After the explosion and after Moira "saved" Reyes (I'll get to that in a minute), it stated that Gabe did mercenary work by himself for a year before he officially joined Talon. A year where he had to deal with constant pain, the trauma of the explosion and the lack of a support network. Reyes becoming Reaper was destined to happen the moment he shot Antonio. Like Cassidy himself said, that was the moment Overwatch truly started to fall.

And the longer Reaper is with Talon, the less and less of Gabriel Reyes we see. Reaper is in constant pain because of Moira's experimentation, and we see that she refuses to help. This brings me to my next point, Reyes would have survived the explosion, with or without Moira's help. Presumably Gabe and Jack where the same distance away from the explosion, now we don't really know what happened to Jack but we know he survived. Yes, Reyes went through more experimentation but we see that it didn't have as bad of negative effects until after his "death". The constant pain and the struggling to keep his form is a result of experimentation after the explosion.

Why do this? Because Gabriel Reyes has proven to be an asset. So spin the narrative, make it so it seems that Reyes couldn't survive without Talon. This is something that Reyes himself sees through, but he's too broken to leave. He needs something to fight for and Talon gives him that so he doesn't leave.

The Inner Council

Doomfist and Moira are probably the biggest manipulators in the Inner Council, followed by Sanjay. Both Moira and Doomfist use subjective facts to get into their targets heads, making them question what exactly it is that they're doing, if what they're doing is working. They like to make people reliant on them, to have control over them, and it works most of the time. Most of the time Moira uses it to get under peoples skin, to make them squirm, she is manipulative but that isn't her main tactic. Dommfist on the other hand, most of his voicelines with people is him trying to manipulate them in some way.

Sanjay is an interesting case because to me it seems that he genuinly believes what he's saying and unlike the other two he seems to be swayed by others, able to recognize when someone else has a better methodology. Meanwhile Max seems to only really use manipulation and bargaining as a way to save his own ass.

And I've detailed this before but Reyes in the later years of Blackwatch was also manipulative but it seemed almost unintentional.

Where the manipulation fails

Doomfist and Moira both tend to target those who are loosing/lost their support network. People who are prone to emotion and tend to not think things through because of it. What this doesn't account for is the people who can handle that. Let's talk about Sombra.

Sombra is a member of Talon but unlike every other member she isn't loyal to it. She's only in it for the resources. It honestly seems that she doesn't like or get along with most of Talon. She's been pointed out both in universe and out to be the most likely person to betray Talon, the problem with that is Doomfist seems to underestimate her, not seeing her very likely betrayal as a threat. Reaper being the one to bring up his concerns. Sombra is a person with no support network yet she is unaffected by Talon's manipulation. This is because the way you get to her isn't stripping her of a support network, it's giving her one, and that's something Talon can't do. The two people she's loyal to are Sigma and Baptiste, they are the people she tries to help.

Sombra is a victim of the Crisis like Baptiste is but unlike him it seems that she knew exactly what she was getting into. So when Baptiste finally stopped turning a blind eye and lying to himself, Sombra got back in contact with him and helped him escaped. It also seems that Cassidy trusts her enough to still trust Baptiste after fining out that they're in contact. Not only that but Sombra either already is, or is going to become Jack's informant on Talon information.

Talon's manipulation failed on Sombra so bad that she is now playing them like a fiddle.

so, i have 2 questions, i dont want to pressure u tho ♡ first of all, been struggling with motivation to do my workouts/go to the gym and meditations recently becuase im a high key procrastinater and cant seem to stop, do you have any tips on how to keep motivated? xx

hi angel! you sound so kind - of course i am so happy to answer your asks! ill break it up into two parts to help make it a little clearer and easier to read.

gym/meditation motivation: the first step is carving out time in your day for these and starting small. it’s pointless thinking okay ill do half an hour of meditation and two hours of working out a day if you dont have the time/energy to do that! instead make the time to begin your day with five minutes of meditation and try and do half an hour of working out, you can always build up the amount of time but you will feel better and more motivated if you are able to meet your goals and then expand them as opposed to feeling bad and shrinking them if you struggle to meet them. secondly i would say find workouts that appeal to you and are fun! dance, pilates and weightlifting are some of my favourite solo workouts but group workouts are so fun and you can experiment and find workouts that appeal to you. also if you like guided meditations try and find ones that interest/deeply calm you to make them more fun to follow. thirdly romanticise your workouts! create cute playlists, gym outfits, buy a cute yoga mat, do your hair and buy a pretty waterbottle. this will help you feel more encouraged and comfortable to workout and also feel way more of a fun event as you dress up etc. finally! reward yourself. after an hour of working out give yourself an hour of screen time, buy a cute drink, if you hit your monthly workout goal amount buy some jewellery or get a present for yourself. rewarding yourself and taking the time to look after your body and mind will help you feel more motivated.

2. this is a bit of a tricker question but hopefully i am able to help even a little bit. firstly you could try practicing reading presentations/work aloud. start by reading it to yourself until you feel confident pronouncing all the words and the speed you feel confident speaking at. then read to a trusted member of family or a friend and ask for feedback or improvements that you can adapt and hopefully feel better and more confident in your speech afterwards. secondly joining some kind of club/activity that requires you to speak could be very useful, for example a drama or debate club, even if you arent super active as a member or choose to do a more casual kind of group, being in a setting where public speaking is encouraged could help you feel more confident! thirdly watching/listening to speeches and body language of people doing public speaking or giving speeches can be really useful and help you focus on what you might need to improve on. finally while it seems difficult try and remember that almost every person in the room is also nervous about public speaking and reading aloud, they may just not show it. you arent the only person who struggles with this, so many people get anxious about public speaking and you should be able to feel better and more confident about it with time!

The Obey Me! Anime but as a Mockumentary

This is part 3 of stealing stuff from other franchises (LOL), but this time I'm writing about the anime because I was bored and had another thought that needs to be set free onto the world.

I want to preface this by saying I LOVE the anime, its funny and cute; its very 'slice of life'-ie and the boys are all so silly in this version. but I want something different, and hopefully longer episodes.

So, what is a 'Mockumentary'? essentially its a mix of the words 'Mock' and 'Documentary'. Google defines it as 'a type of film or television show depicting fictional events, but presented as a documentary which in itself is a subset of a faux-documentary style of film-making.' Think of shows such as 'Modern Family' and 'The Office'.

i'm going to try and follow some of the plots in the actual anime but trying to get it to fit 22 minutes which is how long episodes usually are of this type.

i try to keep it condensed or we'd be here all day <3

he tells the camera in the 'interview' how much he LOVES the movie he wants to show them today,

he continues talking and talking

Levi tries to find his brothers around the house but can't

he decides to find ANYONE who will listen

He finds Simeon who was badly hiding behind the couch, Simeon rats Luke and Solomon out.

Levi even takes Diavolo and Barbatos

keeping the dateables in his room, not letting them leave

he over-explains everything to them

He stops them from leaving multiple times, Luke even tries to fake an illness to get out

Even Levi's snake hides from him

Plot B:

All the brothers try to tiptoe around the house, trying to avoid Levi who is constantly listening to find people who would listen find others

The brothers express in the interviews how they love Levi... but they cannot stand another one of his movies

Ep 3: For whom the belly rumbles

Main Plot points: (I got inspired by the episode of 'Modern Family', 'Connection Lost')

A plot- Beel is lost in some sort of island. the whole ep takes place on the DDD interface.

B plot- Lucifer, Satan and Asmo are at Diavolo's castle

C plot- Levi, Mammon and Belphie are in the HOL

Story:

Plot A:

Beel scrolls through apps on his phone, somehow having internet access

he then opens his contacts and dials Lucifer on facetime

Asmo pops into facetime on Lucifer's laptop

Beel dials Belphie who is asleep, then he dials Levi who is always on his phone.

they all try to find out what and where Beel is

they offer suggestions but Beel keeps getting distracted

All it ends up, is that Beel accidentally sent himself into a game world after eating a game disc

Plot B:

Lucifer has to give a speach on behalf of Diavolo

when Beel calls on Lucifer's laptop, Lucifer was going over his speach as Asmo does his makeup and Satan was checking who attended.

they try to help Beel out of where he is before Lucifer gives his speach

Plot C:

Levi was chasing Mammon around the house when Beel calls

Belphie was asleep

Ep 4: Princess Asmodeous is in another Castle

Main Plot points:

A plot- Asmodeous gets sent into Levi's game as the princess, he loves it a little too much

B plot- Lucifer giving Mammon a driving lesson

Story:

Plot A:

Asmo and the other brothers are sent into a game

at first, Asmo is annoyed but then he realises he is the princess and forces everyone to do his bidding

he wants to be saved in a certain way, dressed in a certain way, etc

Asmo likes it

Asmo becomes like an evil dictator

the brothers revolt against the prince and they win the game

Plot B:

Mammon got a parking ticket and it turned out his license expired a few months ago

Lucifer gives Mammon a driving lesson

Ep 5: Mammon and the Dog

Main Plot points:

A plot- Mammon was turned into a dog, and Mammon runs away

B plot- Levi and Asmo had a previous fight but also Satan and Belphie had a previous fight

Story:

A plot:

Starts with Mammon having a dumb look on his face, his lips not moving but he is talking with the camera zooming into Mammon's face, Mammon then says "Hey over 'ere!", the camera zooms out and shows Mammon sitting next to a dog. Mammon is the dog.

Dog Mammon explains how he got cursed and then it plays out like the anime for the first 5 minutes

The brothers go out to eat dinner where they tease Mammon like usual

Mammon mishears something Lucifer said

Mammon leaves when no one was looking

The brothers in groups look for Mammon (Group 1: Levi and Asmo, Group 2: Satan, Belphie and Beel), they go to Casinos, clubs, bars to try look

Lucifer finds Mammon in MC's bedroom, they talk

Everyone resolves their conflicts by the end

B plot:

Asmo and Levi are fighting because Levi didn't include Asmo on a stream

Satan and Belphie are fighting because of an understanding when talking about the Anti-Lucifer defense league

Ep 6: Detective Satan

Main Plot points:

A plot- Detective Satan with the younger brothers

B plot- Mammon, Lucifer and Levi are taking Mammon to his driving test

Story:

Plot A:

Satan solves his brothers mysteries, expanding on 'Detective Satan' 1 and 2.

Plot B:

Lucifer and Levi take Mammon to the driving center

When Mammon is having his exam with Little D no. 2 as the examiner, Mammon is chased by a guy who he owns a debt to

Mammon tries to out drive the debt collecters

Levi and Lucifer chase after them in a third car

Mammon somehow passes his test

Ep 7: Camp Lucifer

Main Plot points:

A plot- Lucifer takes his brothers to a camp

B plot- Mammon and Asmo want to go to a party instead

C plot- Levi, Satan and Belphie just want to go back home

Story:

Plot A:

Lucifer is overzealous about camp, he's doing everything

All the brothers gather around the campfire, and each brother wants to get away.

When Lucifer goes away to deal with an argument Beel caused because he ate the next door camp's food

When he comes back all his brothers except for Beel have gone

Beel is eating all the food at the campfire, Lucifer pets him on the head

after a while of Lucifer and Beel alone, where Lucifer is just watching Beel eat, Lucifer goes away to wash his hands

the rest of the brothers feel bad, and return

Lucifer returns and sees ALL his brothers back around the campfire again roasting marshmallows

Lucifer joins them

Plot B:

Asmo and Mammon have big plans to escape for the night because they heard that a devildom celeb was at a club

they sneak out when lucifer is distracted

but eventually they return after a while

Plot C:

Levi, Belphie and Satan hide in the tents wanting to just rest and get away from all the insects and flies

Ep 8: A trip for 7

Main Plot points:

A plot- Belphie is sad because his brothers are treating him different

B plot- Road trip with all the brothers in a caravan

Story:

Plot A:

Part one and two of 'A trip for 7'

Belphie is just watching as his brothers interact

but most of the trip takes place in a caravan as they going to their destination

Plot B:

The brothers have a pillow fight and play cards without belphie because things are still awkward with him

Ep 9: Beach Babes

Main Plot points:

A plot- Mammon trying to get pics of Lucifer shirtless

B plot- Asmo takes Beel as his wingman to pick up some 'babes'

Story:

Plot A:

Mammon wraps up each of his brothers to help him in his endeavours

he asks Levi to dress like an octopus to catch Lucifer off guard

he asks Satan to place a curse of Lucifer that raises his body heat until he is so warm he wants to take his shirt off

he asks Belphie to create an elaborate trap but Belphie just throws crabs at Lucifer while not even moving from his place under the umbrella

Plot B:

Asmo takes Beel with the promise of food to find some 'babes'

Asmo tries flirting with some people but Beel is somehow doing better than him

Asmo finds someone from behind

the 'babe' is actually Solomon

Ep 10: A bunny boy's New Years'

Main Plot points:

A plot- Brothers as Bunny boys

B plot- the dateables come to the Bunny boy restaurant for New Years

Story:

Plot A:

the brothers have to be bunny boys to make up for Mammon's debt

they attend to the dateables

Plot B:

Season finale where the dateables recap the whole season

do you have any headcanons about how jon or damian would fall in love? or how they would react to a love confession (be it their crush OR not their crush)? would either of them be obvious to someone having a crush on them? i feel like, maybe, damian would have a hard time admitting his feelings but the idea of him being oblivious to someone's interest in him is funny to me.

i feel like the moment jon lets his gaurd down and spends time with damian where dami actually lets himself be like a normal kid and gives him a good smile, showing jon how fulfilling it can be to show damian happiness, that could be the moment he falls in love

damian on the other hand i feel like the overwhelming fear of losing someone is a good motivator, i wish their reasons weren’t so drastically different but itd take a lot for damian to willing admit his feelings. the realization that the one person he holds close might slip out from between his fingers and leave him is a good enough motivator

damian mentions this type of feeling like his feelings dont belong to him and hes not allowed to sit down with his own bleeding heart, he gives that type of speach to flatline right before he kisses her and it makes me think that dami would accept his own feelings if jon showed him that what he felt was pure and solely for them

i really like the idea that damian’s eyes pull jon in so intimately that over time from seeing damian like that he slowly falls in love

to how they would react to a love confession i actually feel like jon would be surprised and conflicted on abandoning his friendship with damian but for someone confessing that he didnt know, he wouldnt really mind just trying things out with that person

with damian i actually feel like he’d reject jon at first due to his own insecurities or selfishness and if it was someone he didn’t know he’d peobably be a bit heartless and cutting

jon’s crush being obvious? to everyone but damian. i like to imagine that scene he has with that girl where she reaches out for his hand and his super strength activates from anxiety, his hand clenches and he crushes the thing he’s sitting on but replace the girl with damian. its very cute

damian would be in a constant fight with himself trying to calm his heartbeat and the flurry of insistent thoughts he has about jon and assume they are sickness or hes confusion. i feel like at times he would get jealous of jon chooses to spend his time with someone else but he wouldnt understand that the emotion that hes feeling is jealousy or love. i feel like missions are a love language for him like was alluded to in the DCAU so he’d be pretty jealous if jon chose to go on adventures with someone else

in the worst case, jon would probably just assume that damian just straight up doesn’t feel the same at all and admitting his feelings is meaningless.

damian’s worst case would be swallowing his urges under the ideation that he’s being childish and weak.

i like the idea that they would be conflicted about them both being boys at first but know that theyre feelings are to strong to be sullied by something like that

i also feel like theyd wanna keep their relationship a secret or feelings a secret because theyre batman and supermans son, i feel like the pressure of being perfect for them would be knawing at their minds so they’d try and keep it under wraps as much as possible

thank you for that ask!!! theyre really cute and it would be really interesting to see them navigate a relationship with each other other
