I have to say, Hippolytus has become one of my favorite myths/Greek heroes, and not just cause we're both AroAces... mostly

Now the basic story is- Man just wants to live his best hunting life with the goddess Artemis without any relationships and then Aphrodite goddess of Love looks at that and goes "HOW DARETH NOT SHIPPETH" and eventually causes his death by his own father... which tumbles into Asclepius death and Apollo turning human... again

Well here's some things I'd like to say that should be talked about more, some headcannos some retelling some filling in blanks

Hippolytus is a PRINCE OF ATHENS. Heck he's Theseus' son. THE Theseus. He probably still had expectations and a job to do as a prince. It wouldn't surprise me if suitors tried to get him married. Like, men from across Greece would LOVE to have their daughter we'd to this guy, the prince of Athens! Think of the power and stability. Think of the stories where Hippolytus just runs into the woods because he hate she responsibilities and doesn't want to get married. And his dad probably forcing him to choose! WHERES THAT.

Let's remember the maternal side of his family. Aka the badass warrior Hippolyta, THE QUEEN OF THE AMAZONS AND DAUGTER OF THE GOD OF WAR AND THE FOUNDER OF THE AMAZONS. I know Amazon's don't like men, but as shown with Hippolyta with Theseus and later Heracles, she still respects strong men. I believe his mom LOVED him, despite being male. Was so proud and adored him, teaching her son the Amazonian ways. Not to say that his grandmother, Otrera was probably still alive. Probably didn't like men like her daughter, but could respect her strong grandson, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE FOUND OUT HE JOINED ARTEMIS HUNT. YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE 2 MAIN GODS OF THE AMAZONS. Aka I want to see how Hippolyta and Otrera felt about him.

Now depending on the myth, Hippolyta can be related to 1 to 3 gods. Aka he has the highest record of a Legacy... I think. His grandfather's are Poseidon(Theseus dad)and Ares(Hippolytas dad) and with a stretch, cause I like this Headcannon, his great grandfather is Eurus (Otrera dad, God of Fall and the East wind). So is no one going to talk about how this man is related to 2 powerful Olympians, one of the Wind gods, a descendent of the Amazonians, fierce women warriors, and the son of Theseus, the slayer of the Minotaur????? OH AND HES LIKE THE ONE OF THE FEW MEN ARTEMIS EVER LIKED. THE ARTEMIS. If Ancient Greece had resumes he'd be winning

Talking bout Artemis... it's hard to believe after the Orion incident...which I don't think is too far apart... that Artemis, who befriended a male, giving him a chance, and then him becoming feral and destroying wild life, her sacred place/animals/domain, or falling in love with her, aka the ONE THING YOU DOMT DO. So for Artemis to just get another guy to join the girls only clun.. yeah there was probably a deeper reason and relationship under that. I feel like she met him when he was young, after him running into the woods night hating the royal life, and he helps some girl, probably one of her Huntresses, gets her attention, and they talk about Hunting and hating love, you know fun stuff. I feel like she kinda raised him, teaching him hunting, the importance of life, respecting women, hating love... aka a mom figure(because I'm pretty sure Hippolyta was running the Amazon's and couldn't bring her son with her) so yeah. I believe they had a mother-son relationship. It makes sense it's adorable it also explains how far Artemis would go to bring him back to life. KNOWING THERE WOULD BE CONSEQUENCES. Bruh she didn't even try to resurrect Orion. Just saying a mother's love is very strong.

On that note... I feel like Asclepius and he actually knew each other. 1. Asclepius is nice guy but not dumb, he wouldn't just be handing this cure to death to anyone. Now Artemis could have threatened him but that's whatever. In retrospec, they're kinda cousins, and I feel like they had a nice relationship before his death. ALSO. CAN YOU THINK OF THE ANGST?!? How much guilt Hippolytus would be feeling after. HES THE REASON ASCLEPIUS DIED. YEAH HE DIDN’T ASK FOR ANY OF THIS BUT HIS COUSIN DIED BECAUSE OF HIM. I want those two to reunite and Asclepius to hug him and tell him everything's okay and it worked out cause now he'll help people forever as a god.

Finally. No, he wouldn't forgive his farther. Probably already hates him after, leaving his mom, being a horrible king, not understanding his wished for not wanting to get married, not believing HIS OWN SON OVER HIS NEW WIFE, OH AND KILLING HIM. I want the Hippolyta, Hippolytus, Ariadne, and Zagreus "WE HATE THESEUS" club. Please. It be hilarious. On the topic of Hades game- YES I WANNA SEE HIPPOLYTUS MAYBE HANGING OUT WITH HIS DEAD MOM PELASEEEEW.

okay maybe an unpopular opinion but i think shiori shouldn't actually like hiei that much

i dont know how to put this one into words properly but something about the way relvin is imogen's actual blood father, but due to liliana (& relvin)'s physical and/or emotional absence, ludinus has taken the actual role of shaping imogen like a father would, as the shadow looming over her. the way imogen is liliana's spitting image but has traded her cowgirls clothes from gelvaan for archmage robes so like ludinus's. she even uses his old staff at times. both bear the burden of leadership from their party even as they insist they're on equal grounds. both seem to believe they need someone to be their tether, as that someone is drowning in their own powers. both, frankly, understand what needs to be sacrificed more than liliana.

liliana wants to come home to her simple life, an untouched relvin & imogen. but imogen is far from the sum of her & relvin's parts. as she marches to war, she has become the sum of her & ludinus's parts. due to her own mother she is not the farmer side of liliana, but her warlord one. and i dont think liliana's mind could bear to take that in.

My toxic trait is that i dont think steve is really in love with nancy, hes in love with nancy the "angel". I mean its a constant point in st that love is about sticking it through with that person even when times get hard and not projecting this unrealistic image onto them that they cant live up to. And like... what steve tells nancy about his "dream"... thats not what nancy wants and thats not who she is. I think steve is still hung up on the quiet demure passive nancy he was with in s1 when she was pretending to be not the person she really is. And its interesting considering how "angel" is a motif used to signify the unrealistic standards women are held up to, by men in particular but enforced by other women eg mothers, and how nancy is all up in that rosemary symbolism in s1. Anyways this isnt a steve hate post this is an aro steve post.

This is so true and real. orz my life purpose is to become mermaid for mer!Riddle and give him a big, happy family. <3 omg and he'd be immensely pleased to build such a sweet family with you. He wants to be a better parent than his mother was, so he's going to dedicate all of his efforts to being the best father his children deserve. :D

BUT ALSO OMG!!!!! Imagine a Little Mermaid plot in which Riddle is in the role of Ariel and he falls in love with a human who he desperately wants to be with, but there's no way he could ever dream of becoming human when his mother expects so much from him under the sea. So he thinks perhaps there's a way he can bring you to him and the two of you can be together. Of course this means you'll have to forsake your humanity and life on land, but maybe he can charm you enough to convince you to abandon those things and elope with him.

If he's really so sold on this idea, perhaps he should just go discuss matters with a certain scummy tako and his two eel friends. They'll definitely know of many ways to help poor, unfortunate, lovestruck Riddle. :)

omg rm9 was kinda fun To Me. i enjoyed mulder and scully going on a sushi date, scully being SOOOOO embarrassingly down bad for a man she’s known over 20 years, and of course the restaurant attacking them because mulder is a bad tipper. it’s also just nice to see them living life, you know??

i had a blast with rm9 tbh, a classic s11 well! have no idea what happened there! but i enjoyed myself! episode. just talked about it a bit but yes!! just seeing them living life!! literally the majority of s11 isn't even them going on cases they're just like. existing. and falling into Situations. in rm9 all they wanted to do was go to this sushi place. scully is of course always embarrassing as hell but what i loved loved loved loved about her in rm9 (and consequently throughout s11) is that last moment at the diner when they're both on their phones, and she puts hers away and just kinda leans over to his shoulder and takes his hand, and he puts his phone down.

i was so floored to see her do that, to ask for his attention like that. so much of the original series is scully...almost quietly suffocating, sometimes? being on the edge of his myopia and focus? wanting him to see her so bad, and then lashing out (READ: fucking serial killers) to either rebel, or get him to notice? but it's been a long time and he has been many more things to her since and now she just grabs his hand and makes him turn to her. in forehead sweat when she whines that he needs to feed her or she's leaving!! and then she does leave!!! in plus one when they aren't even "back together" yet, and she sneaks into his motel room and asks him to hold her.

scully in the revival has left him. she has struck out on her own, had her own career, lived on her own, been a doctor. and she's back and they're back because there's work to be done, and because, as james wong says: "She’s in love with him that way. She had a different career as a doctor, but she came back, because this is so important to him—she’s coming back to be there for him."

she's back, and they're back, because they're always choosing each other, and they've proven it, and they've done the work. she complains about his stakeouts. she cracks jokes about being sure he's on his meds!! she knows that their son is "guiding" them both, somehow. she doesn't question it.

she's embarrassingly down bad even after 25 years because she's never anything but adored him, but there's so much more availability now. she can openly check him out and invite him back into her room and giggle at him and sleep on his jacket in bars. she used to cry, every single time that he was present with her. she used to be so overwhelmed that she couldn't speak, when he was focused on her. this is the inverse reaction of the stability and peace that mulder has found, there's a steady foundation for scully to grow on.

George, Maria, and their beloved daughter, Rosie

Sooooo this sort of serves as the proper introduction to Rosie! We know that George and Maria are Ninten's great grandparents, and obviously we see both (kinda) of his parents in the game, but there's nothing on the generation in between. So Grandma Rosie is the character I created to fill in that gap!

She was the child of George of Maria, born maybe two years or so after they got together, and together they were the perfect family. George would read her stories and ask her to help him with his own writing and poetry, Maria would teach her jokes and games and sing her to sleep, every day was filled with joy.

Rosie was only about 9 when her parents were abducted, and her life was never the same after that. A family friend, George's personal doctor (he'll be showing up again in other posts), moved in to take care of her, but every day she wished to see her parents again.

Well, two years passed and it seemed for certain that her parents were dead, when she was awoken in the middle of the night by the barking of dogs as a man lurched up to the front door.

He was battered, exhausted, his clothes were torn and he was an absolute mess, but it was George. It was a miracle, but his embrace was short and stiff, he couldn't look her in the eye, he barely spoke. And her mother was nowhere to be seen. He refused to answer when she, or anyone else, asked where he'd been, or where his wife had gone.

He moved back in, and his friend out again, but he would barely act like she was even there. She found herself going to the doctor's house, while George locked himself in the basement, frantically scribbling and muttering to himself. Sometimes she would talk to him and he'd seem like he suddenly remembered everything, and he'd look at her with incredible sadness and apologize, but he would always return back to his work.

So the years went on, and nothing ever changed. Rosie grew up, the father from her childhood being as good as dead and an aloof stranger taking his place in her basement, and she stopped trying to bring him back out. The rumours about George, as you can imagine, were terrible, and she was never fully sure if she could really brush them off. She became stronger and more independent as she grew older, and vowed she'd never be the same as her father.

She got married (no idea to who, i do not care), had a daughter, Carol, that she made sure would never be abandoned, eventually Carol grew up herself and found a husband, Jack (who she did not approve of), who she of course had three kids with. George meanwhile was still alive, incredibly aged and seeming to have finally given up on his strange obsessions. Not that he opened up any more. He'd stopped speaking entirely, even though he'd finally left the basement, and soon after Ninten was born, he disappeared again, apparently for good. Rosie decided it was time for her to go too, and left the house to Carol, Jack, and their children, though she made sure to visit as often as she could to make up for Jack's constant absence.

Once the Invasion is averted and the world is saved, Ninten pays her a visit and makes sure to tell her what had happened to her parents all those years ago, and everything that's happened to him, too. It can't really take away her pain, but knowing the full story will at least put some of it to rest.
