Paying a Price.

So let's go do that.

So you know those DPxDC AUs where Tim makes a deal with either Clockwork or Danny to carry Ellie? Or Tim is a reborn Danny whose carrying Ellie instead (love these btw) in order to get Bruce out of the time stream.

Well what about instead of just Ellie, it's both her and Danny.

Danny and Ellie who were badly hurt by the GIW that they both had to revert into their cores. They are saved by their friends/family and are taken to Frostbite. There they are monitored and looked after only until they can finally the reform but they run into a problem. The two can't return to their home dimension due to the GIW activity and they cant stay to long in the Infinite Realms cause they are still halfas. Then one day CW appears to speak with Frostbite over something important about the two.

Meanwhile in the DCverse.

Tim might have figured a way to save Bruce from the timestream. A being known as Clockwork might be able to help him if he manages to summon the powerful 'Ancient'.

However he knows summoning and requesting it's help he will have to pay a price.

If it means getting Bruce back he'll do it...

GOD so i hear my brother freaking out in the living room like "MANDO WHAT HAPPENED??? ARE YOU OKAY???" and i run out and there is what looks like a GIANT red gash down the dog's forehead and snout

bro goes what do we do and i direct him to hold onto mando and clean the gash off with a wet towel while i look for some neosporin but the thing is. this dog is scared of Everything. he is 55 lbs of Run From Scary Plastic Bag Noise instinct and nothing else, and so i thought hed be freaking out more, or that we'd have at least heard SOME commotion when he gouged himself. but no he's just sitting there chilling out while bro wipes gunk off his face

so i just kinda. squint. "are we sure it's blood"

bro goes "i dunno?" and so i just like. turn on some lights, and we confirm whatever it is sure does Look like it's just sitting on top of the fur. so i lean in for a sniff.

Theres not a big gap between when Zoro heads to bed for the night and when Sanji gets up to start work on the crews breakfast.

So one night on his way to bed Zoro gave the cook a shove to help him wake up.

Just being helpful, he would say if questioned.

And he was helpful on most nights after that.

Maybe sometimes he shoved the cook right off the hamock on his way to his own

Huh, must have forgotten how light and delicate he is, Zoro would grin, watching the blondes blood pressure raise

Sanji cant even shout at him the way he wants to - at least not after the first time, when his yelling woke up the ladies on the ship. (He of course apologized profusely to them, then spent the full day antagonizing Zoro to the best of his considerable abilities)

Now on the days when Sanji wakes up with the floor rising to meet him, all he can do is quietly and furiously make vague gestures promising Zoro bodily harm once the sun is up.

It always leaves Zoro going to sleep with a grin on his face as Sanji stomps out of the boys bunk muttering curses under his breath.

And then maybe one night Zoro is exhausted - cant even summon the energy to make it the three extra steps to his own hammock - so instead he flops down directly onto the cook.

(They argue and wrestle for a few minutes, exhaustion forgotten for the time it takes for Sanji to kick Zoro in the head, give up the fight and extract himself from the bed.

He calls Zoro several choice names before heading out to start the day while Zoro goes to sleep satisfied he got the chance to bug the blonde one last time before going to sleep.)

And maybe he keeps doing it.

Not every night, but sometimes he finds he would rather lay down in an already warm bed, particularly if they are traveling through colder sections of the grandline.

Sometimes he still manages to flip the other man out of the hammock just by jumping into it himself. Knows the blonde will make the day interesting in retaliation. Looks forward to it.

And then maybe at one point, he lays down gently, softly tells the cook its time to get up, and maybe Sanji takes his time opening his eyes, stretching out his legs, enjoying the transition to wakefulness.

Maybe it becomes a thing they do sometimes. Silently enjoying each others company as Sanji wakes up and Zoro drifts to sleep. Enjoying the closeness in a bed not built for two.

Maybe the others have woken up and caught sight of the pair curled up together in the early morning. But they would simply roll over and go back to sleep, leaving the two to their morning ritual.

And if Zoro still shoves Sanji off the hammock sometimes, well, the others are used to waking up to that too

1: odysseus gives me weighted blanket neurodivergent. doesnt NEED one but he IS one yk. but otherwise like come on

2: i dont think they would share clothes doesnt seem in character for either tbh. i do like the idea though that if ody had another cloak or something he left at home penelope might wear it while shes weaving so theyre a bit skewed for that

3: i think they use pet names a roughly equal PERCENTAGE of the time, but ody says penelopes name a lot more when talking to her and therefore happens to end up using them more

4: penelope seems very introverted to me. odysseus is an extrovert in uhhh the sort of way people misunderstand it. like extroverts get ENERGY from talking to people. its not that they prefer being around people its that they need to be yknow. anyways i think ody is slightly more introvert leaning than the people want you to know. is what im saying

5: dont have much to say about penelopes placement. but this is a bit of a silly headcanon i think hes not the best at expressing things genuinely? hes a liar by nature so trying to be honest is sort of like pulling teeth <- thats more of an odyssey!odysseus headcanon but i still apply it to epic!ody sometimes. so hes not the best at being sincere with words but hes VERY physically affectionate and he loves giving gifts hes sort of like a cat who--gives you dead mice yk yk. i dont fully subscribe to this headcanon but i do when i think its cute

6: odysseus did OBJECTIVELY confess first but penelope wouldve done so really soon if he didnt

9: i think penelope could cook if you gave her instructions but this hasnt been demonstrated yet though sooo. as for ody i think he can make something edible if he has to. mostly out of necessity. he doesnt really care about making something GOOD yknow but he can make a solid 4.5/10 meal if required. like if you have the extra time to make it good you should be using that time for other things or whatever. is his take. i do like the idea of him maybe getting more into it post canon though,,, idk thoughts im not totally sold but it could be cute
