Be honest, who haunts the narrative more: Jegulus or moonchaser?

like.... my first instinct is to say jegulus but also that's just because i like them more 😭😭 also because in my moonchaser fic I'm still constantly thinking about jegulus like they're haunting my own fic while in all my jegulus fics sure moonchaser is there but they're not "haunting the narrative"

jegulus is a different kind of tragedy than moonchaser is they're a soulmate kinda tragedy as is moonchaser is right person wrong time which does feel like those two can't exist on the same timeline but they can and they do because i say so

they both meet every single lifetime the connection is always there and it's not to say jegulus' connection is stronger but they're intrinsically bound in a way moonchaser isn't

or like a better way to explain what I'm thinking is when moonchaser is over it's a strong heartache but they also break away from each other not to say that it's easy but they can break away from each other but when jegulus is over they can't just break away from each other the universe won't allow it and they keep meeting like is moonchaser didn't stay friends I feel like they wouldn't just stumble upon each other but jegulus would the universe just has to make it happen like they'd die if it didn't and afterwards despite no one knowing about jegulus or everyone knowing about it dying they're still around in everything in a way moonchaser isn't

"Soooooo..." your red-haired friend started, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. You, Yangyang, Chixia, and Baizhi were sprawled out on the floor of Baizhi's bedroom. After hours of laughing, chatting, and typical sleepover activities, the four of you were almost ready to sleep. The sun was going to be up in just over an hour, but a certain Patroller was still full of energy. "Any of you.. ya'know, interested in anyone lately?"

As she said this, you felt a suspiciously sharp gaze coming from across the room. You picked your head up from your pillow, just in time to see Baizhi's eyes shift to stare at the ceiling.

"Hey, what was that about?" you asked, half-joking, but half-serious. "Have something you want to share with the group?"

She shivered. "Please, don't ever say that again. You sounded just like my old professor at the Academy just now."

The four of you laughed, but there was just one thought going through your mind. "Does she know...?"

"Oh, come on! I'm sure at least one of you has your eye on somebody... Yangyang?"

"Um... nobody in particular." Despite having "nobody in mind", her face flushed and a light pink began to appear on her cheeks. Nevertheless, Yangyang had always been somewhat secretive when it came to romance, so you decided to just let her be.

"Baizhi? C'mon, we all saw that look you gave Y/N."

Her long, black hair seemed to ripple as she fervently shook her head. "Don't tell me you're serious. I spend most of my time at the Academy, and falling for a co-worker is just asking for trouble. Besides, there aren't any good options there anyways."

You could feel your eye twitch slightly at her last words. "No good options? Are you sure?"

"Seems like our dear Y/N begs to differ. Go on, surely there must be someone you've got your eye on?" Chixia egged you on.

You sighed. "Fine... if you insist. Have you met Xiangli Yao?"

"WHAT???" the others looked at you in shock, almost screaming.

You looked absolutely mortified. "Keep it down! You're going to wake people up!"

"...He's good, right?"

"You mean the Principal Investigator? How do you know him?" Yangyang wondered aloud.

"Ohh, I get it. Wasn't he that guy you kept talking to at the festival?" Chixia reasoned.

"Yeah... we did meet at the festival. We've been talking for the past few days, and he's been so sweet and caring. He's gentle, and smart, and his voice is so soothing, not to mention his looks..."

You went on and on, and the other three exchanged a knowing glance.

"Oh Y/N... you're so in love with him."

Realizing how much you had been talking, you could feel heat rushing to your cheeks.

"Fuck." You put your head in your hands. "I really do love him."

4:25 AM / Xiangli Yao's apartment / Jinzhou, Huanglong

Finally, it was time for Xiangli Yao to go to sleep. Working on a new research paper, he had been working almost entirely through the night, and by the time he realized the time it was too late to take more than a long nap.

He yawned, shuffling over to the other side of his bedroom to turn off the lights. Sliding into bed, he closed his eyes and prepared to rest. All of a sudden, he heard a shriek from the room below him.

"WHAT???"

...Hm. One of those voices sounded familiar, and that was when it hit him. The room above him belonged to Baizhi, a fellow researcher at the Academy. More importantly to him, though, was that she was one of your close friends since your arrival in Jinzhou. Worried, he sat up, debating whether or not to go check up on her.

"These walls are definitely thin... likely not a sign of danger, Jinzhou is rather safe, perhaps just shock? But at what?"

He would have just gone right back to sleep, had he not heard your voice.

"Keep it down! You're going to wake people up!"

Oh, your voice. He loved the way you spoke, from sweet, rich tone of your voice to the way you pronounced every syllable. Even then, your panicked voice sounded the way honey tastes.

He was intrigued. As much as he scolded himself for being too nosy, he desperately wanted-- no, needed-- to know what sounded like a secret of yours.

Gently pressing his ear to the floor, he tried to listen for a hint as to what you were discussing in the room below.

"...the Principal Investigator?"

That was the moment he realized that you were talking about him. The researcher pushed his head closer into the floor. He reasoned that if you were talking about him, secretly, then perhaps...

Perhaps he really would have a chance.

All throughout the Moon-chasing Festival, you had been by his side, helping him uncover the meaning of people's wishes, including his own. Maybe it was the time you had spent together, or the fact that you now knew so much about him and his life, but he couldn't help but be attracted to you.

He listened closely, pink spreading across his face and heart racing as he heard you ramble about everything about him. By the end of it, Xiangli Yao was lying on the floor with a huge grin on his face.

"Oh, Y/N... if only you knew. I'm in love with you, too."

Marauders Fandom Vent Post

CW: The following is anti-Regulus, anti-Barty Crouch Jr, anti-Slytherin Skittles, anti-Death Eater whitewashing, and a little general ranting about canon vs non-canon.

I should be finishing my Moonchaser Week fics but I made the mistake of browsing around and wow wow wow there are some truly terrible takes and I kind of really hate it.

"Regulus was abused and--" Really? Was he? Because all the info we get on him in canon is that he was Orion and Walburga's 'golden boy,' probably after Sirius started getting rebellious, definitely not reason enough to be Voldy's No. 1 Cheerleader until he was personally offended by the pursuit of immortality/mistreatment of Reg's house-elf. Just because ten billion fics follow-the-leader'd a handful of Big Fics where Sirius and Regulus were regularly Crucio'd on the daily from early childhood (and were still somehow functional when it landed Neville's parents, two adult and experienced Aurors, in the madhouse) does not make it canon. REGULUS WAS NOT A POOR ABUSED KITTEN AGAHGAHGAH

Oh, and speaking of the Longbottoms: "There's no proof Barty Jr really tortured anyone and he probably didn't even do anything at school so we don't know--"

Yeah, I guess that's fair. I mean, he was a dyed-in-the-wool Deatheater and was sent with two known murder-y/torture-y Deatheaters specifically to "take care" of the Longbottoms, who were as mentioned tortured into madness, but maybe Barty Jr was just sent along to take minutes or serve tea or something! No-one desperate to avoid Hell Prison might try to avoid it by saying they were innocent of the thing they did! We should believe the fascist fanboy who hangs out with other murderous and torturous fascist fanpeople.

"But Barty Jr was under the Imperious by his father! He was abused so--"

Yes, because his father stupidly broke his son out of Hell Prison as his wife's dying wish, tried to hide said son and couldn't control him because Barty Jr was a Voldy fanboy who kept trying to rejoin/restart their little Dark Magic gang! I'm not defending Barty Sr, he made a lot of very poor decisions throughout, but he Imperious'd Barty Jr to keep him from wandering off and doing Death Eater things like, oh, torturing and murdering Muggles and Muggleborns! There's no indication that Barty Jr was Imperius'd or cursed or abused or anything worse than having an emotionally distant workaholic father before he went into Azkaban, and there are lots of kids with emotionally distant parents who don't join hate armies and try to resume said activities after, again, his dying mother sacrificed herself for his freedom. Shockingly, Barty Jr is actually terrible!

I know, I know, it's fandom, do whatever you want, but I just don't understand this bizarre dual-vision myopia. Either canon doesn't matter, you can do what you want and ignore whatever's in the books, in which case why bother citing canon events at all? Or canon does matter, in which case your wildly speculative and sometimes outright incorrect 'facts' should at least be acknowledged as exactly that, rather than stretching the intended meaning of the phrase 'it could happen' so far that it snaps! Why are people so desperate to whitewash these murderous fanatics, they aren't even actually hot, their fans have decided they're hot and therefore should be whitewashed and I don't understanddddddd

Hey y'all, I have stuff going on in my life that is overall combining to me having a hard time writing, including for the Marauders Era in general. While I'm taking a break for myself, here are some analytics for my life here on Tumblr and on AO3 for 2024!

Ao3 Stats:

I published 42 fics this year! Of those, 3 were multi-chapter fics, 37 were Marauders fics (34 were Jegulus), 4 were JonMartin 1 was Salvis Months with the most published fics: October & November (7) Month with the least published fics: May (1) I posted 0 fics in June

I typed 242,914 words on Ao3 this year! Shortest fic: The Betrayal (1,293 words) Longest oneshot: Protect Me (Take Me Away) (13,784 words) Longest multi-chapter: Starry Eyes and Warm Smiles (29,848 words) Month with the most words: October (78,213 words) Month with the least words: May (4,107 words)

Nonbinary James showed up in a fic on July 21! My first Jegulus 2024 Bingo Fic was posted August 22! I got Bingo in the Jegulus 2024 Bingo on October 31! I have 2 prompts left to finish before I get a blackout for the Jegulus 2024 Bingo!

I posted 116 microfics this year, spanning from June 1 to December 24! Of those, 102 were Jegulus 9 were Jartylus 4 were Moonchaser 1 was Lilene Month with the most microfics: December (26) Month with the least microfics: November (6)

This year, I wrote 323,319 words over the span of both platform. I wrote 153 Marauders works, of those 136 Jegulus works. Nonbinary James was with me through 118 works.

I'm so fucking grateful for all of you that have read my works and interacted with me and to those that I've met and been able to talk to along the way.

I intend to write Marauders for years to come, I'm just needing a break while I hyperfixate on another fandom for the time being and sort through the issues that I'm having in my personal life. I have ideas and ideas to come, it's just going to take me a bit to get back into the swing of things.

7) thinking about all of this now I think what you said is right, people don't ship Remus with anyone other than Sirius but I think that's cause Sirius actually doesn't have many ships left then? Cause think about it like this: Sunreader, Bartylus, Marylily, Evan and Emmeline, Panda and Xeno, where does that leave Sirius? Sure Pete is there but...

8) ooooh ok going down this pipeline, for your consideration: Peter and Sirius. Omg it would make the "Sirius put in trial instead of Peter" thing sooooo much more ansgty ohhoo my brain is reeling rn

9) ok focusing back on moonchaser. They would make such a cute couple honestly. James would read all the books Remus reads and leaves lil doodles for him to find later. He would go to all the quidditch practices he can to support his bf. And he would right poetry and stuff about how hot James is.

10) ohhh They would share glasses omggg poor Remus grows up thinking everyone has shit vision then one day he wears James's as a joke and voila the world in HD

Xavier's Directional Orbit: Light - Stage 130 Clear + Vod

I realize this post clear write up is hella long over due, but July was such a busy month for me between balancing irl schedules and processing those Illusio Requests (which were more time sensitive). Nevertheless, for record keeping, Xavier and I cleared his Directional Orbit: Light - Stage 130 on July 22nd!

Some important information to know before challenging Xavier's Stage 130 is that you will need two teams. Team 01's protofield Stellactrum is 5-Emerald and 1-Pearl. Team 02's Protofield Stellactrum is 5-Amber and 1-Ruby.

By having a ’perfect match’ with the Protofield Stellactrum you will receive additional attribute bonuses (for every color you match increase DMG boost 5.0% and DMG reduction 5.0% up to 30.0%), as well as the ability to shatter two protofield shields in a single strike.

For this stage I opted to match the colors for each team. The bonuses of having a perfect match was more optimal rather than me trying to brute force it. I also decided to use Xavier's Lumiere companion for both fights; more about that below.

Looking back at this stage I'm pretty sure my first few run was with Lightseeker Companion in the first half. I actually had difficulty grouping up the 4 wanderers together since none of them seem to want to be near each other in order for me to utilize Luminescence Blade's Active skill for cleave damage. This is why I opted to use Lumiere companion instead of Lightseeker here; I needed his control abilities.

My advice is to focus on the Carmine Talons first and then eliminate the Elysian Lacertus. Kindly overlook my messy game play, but in my clear vod you can see that I can have the Elysian Lacertus come to me instead of jumping all over the place while I focused on the Talons. Having Lumiere's Support Skill, Lunar Vortex, made it easier for me get all the wanderers grouped up together while we did AoE damage. It was such a close fight, but thankfully my Ardent Oath came up in time.

For the second half of the fight, I don't want to say it was a joke but... Lumiere really is the best. His Passive Skill, Moonfall, is so broken when combined with Moonchaser's Active Skill, Moontide. That's why, if you have R2 Lumiere, having 2-Expedited Energy Boost beta protocores on Lumiere is BiS is highly recommended. If you don't have Lumiere ranked up I would still equip 1-Expedited Energy boost with 1-Oath Recovery Boost beta protocore at 11% in order to use Ardent Oath twice.

Unfortunately, I don't have screenshots of my stat attributes or have any recollection of which protocores I used for this fight. I'm also unable to recreate those stats I used for this fight because I've upgraded his memories and protocores since then.

22. Your favourite part of canon that everyone else ignores?

I think that has to be Tonks in HBP and the way her depression throughout it characterises both her and the war. I think it’s got such great angst potential and is so rarely explored. 

Her depression is often entirely brushed off as weakness and, therefore, something that we shouldn’t explore in fandom because she’s “sad over a man”. Which is very disingenuous really. Remus is attempting to get himself killed rather than be in a loving relationship because he hates himself that much. Yeah, she’s sad about it. What kind of heartless bitch wouldn’t be? And then it’s compounded on top of guilt over Sirius (which although not the full story, Hermione did hear them talking about it and it does carry over to DH “I owe Bellatrix”), until Tonks is guilty about possibly causing the death of both Sirius and Remus. 

She does this whilst essentially working herself to the bone if her time with the Order is as it was in OotP - which is likely given someone as skilled as Kingsley and Remus has to pick up the slack their missions have left behind, probably Tonks. She’s seeing the worst aspects of the war in her job and then she goes home to do it again with the Order, and it’s taking its toll on her. 

The fact it changes Tonks who is so used to being able to hide random shit like that behind either morphing or jokes is great. She’s the comic relief who just isn’t in the mood or physically can’t hide, and so she seems even sadder. 

I love angsty Tonks.

Cultural Affairs (Pt. 1/2)

Venti

⋯⁂ Naturally, Windblume is the first festival that comes to his mind when he offers to take you on a cultural exploration (in his mind it's a date.) And that's what he plans on a mere month before it's time. Sometimes he plans things (…but only sometimes!) He'll even admit it, he's very excited about this! He only wishes it'd come faster.

When the first day of the festival arrives, he's already dragging you to each of the games that are hosted. Although, when it comes to a competition of playing ballads, he'll outshine you by a long shot—only to finish with a wink in your direction. What can he say—he can be a little competitive! But, if you struggle a bit too much plucking the strings right, he's more than happy to teach you.

His hands will glide over yours before guiding them along the strings of the wooden lyre, allowing them to dance under his own soft touch. He whispers in your ear, telling you all sorts of sweet compliments and reassurances. When the song comes to an end, he pecks your cheek and congratulates you for doing your best.

On the last day of the festival, he leaves you with a love poem and hums, "You know, I think you very well may be Barbatos' favorite flower of Windblume!"

And then you playfully punch his shoulder. He can't stop himself from laughing.

Zhongli

⋯⁂ In the startings of your romantic relationship, he's already planning to bring you to many cultural outings. And he shares his desire for you to do the same with him whenever you wish. Even his historic heart still has its curiosity about the world and love for learning—even if it's something he learned a long time ago.

The first festival he brings you to is Moonchase, oddly enough. You expected Lantern Rite to be the first, but given, you don't know much about either of these festivals. So, instead of asking an overbearing amount of questions, you let yourself learn from firsthand experience.

And when the first day of Moonchase begins, he proposes to make mooncakes for the occasion. Although, only mini ones. He'd rather not overwhelm you with a new, intricate recipe. Despite his peculiar nature with all things, he lets your beginner mistakes slide. And, of course, he gently advises you how to do better next time.

You two end up spending much of the day cooking various delicacies for all kinds of people. It's initially your idea to be more charitable during this festival. And he couldn't agree more.

He knows Liyue's governance suffers from its own flaws and downsides—any government does. And he thinks this is the perfect way to be able to help out without directly involving himself…or his past identity.
