I don’t understand how America can stand in our faces & want us to be soo happy about sending people to space but haven’t been able to cure cancer yet!
That’s how much America is full of sociopaths & psychopaths that they think “going to space” is soo exciting like we can live up there *rolling my eyes super hard* & curing cancer should be on the back burner while children & adults are dying every day! Why would I care about going to space I can’t live on the moon! Wasting so much money and I don’t believe anybody can go to outer space 🤷🏾‍♀️I don’t care what white people tell you! Everyone who talks about it are proving LIARS!
Cure cancer ooh wait fix homelessness not spending trillions of dollars trying to convince the U.S.A. & other countries that USA is head honcho in the space race!

Seeing how so many of Vox Machina went on to become rich and famous world leaders, while The Mighty Nein embodied "If you do the job right, no one will know you did anything,"
I'm kind of hoping that in the end, Bells Hells will be notorious. The kinds of people who have youtube conspiracy videos about them, and make historians Deep Sigh. Everyone's heard of them, but what they are and if they ever really existed is up for debate

anyone else been involuntarily assigned "person who knows oddly specific information about random topics" by your friends and family? my best friend will be like "wait, why do people think the moon landing was fake?" as if that’s a normal question that id obviously know the answer to off the top of my head. i mean i do know the answer but its the principle

Fly Me to the Moon (2024) review
Tumblr media
America - f*** yeah!!
Plot: Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, Fly Me To The Moon is a sharp, stylish romantic comedy set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA's historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA's public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis's (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, the countdown truly begins.
Is it just me or this does not feel like a real movie? Like yes, I watched it. Yes, it’s been properly shot and has real actors in it. But there seems to be something overly synthetic about the whole thing, almost as if it was written and made by AI. A generic romantic comedy with all the generic tropes of the genre, only with the added backdrop of the fake moon landing narrative, though even that has been adapted on film many a time. Look, Fly Me to the Moon is a passable movie that has some enjoyment level and also seems as if it were made on a decent enough budget, but the lead two characters share zero to no chemistry, and the movie’s narrative lacks any significant substance to actually say anything nor deliver on any if all themes (aside from showcasing the respect for the sacrifice of the Apollo 1 tragedy). The only reoccurring theme is that of the Americans values and patriotism overload, which I guess it’s good for a country to toot its own horn, but it doesn’t result in good entertainment.
I usually really enjoy Channing Tatum, however here he feels awfully miscast, as I did not buy him as a guy that would be around in the 1960s. It also seemed like he was riffing a lot and mimicking Rock Hudson, only that Hudson knew how to deliver the charms for a romcom, whilst Tatum delivers a bland and grumpy performance here with a one-note expression throughout. Scarlett Johannson is fine, she does the best with what she has and to be fair to her she manages to showcase her range of different accents which is praise-worthy, as well as having a colourful outfit change every 5 seconds. Woody Harrelson I wish was in this more, as he plays a politician/member of the White House and he plays crooked officials well. Ray Romano AKA Manny the Mammoth from Ice Age is also along for the ride, and I’m always happy to see some Romano.
My issue is that I am getting a little tired from the level of mediocrity that is coming out of big movie studios recently. This movie is an example of a typical forgettable slog, that is neither funny, nor romantic, nor thoughtful, nor honestly anything. This made me feel nothing. Fly me to the flop, I tell ya.
Overall score: 3/10

MIT releases deepfake video of 'Nixon' announcing NASA Apollo 11 disaster
Tumblr media
The Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20, 1969, was a landmark moment in space history. But what if the astronauts died during their mission to the moon, and President Richard Nixon had to deliver tragic news on TV to the American viewing public?
In this disturbingly real deepfake video, President Nixon breaks the news that NASA failed and astronauts died on the moon. Deepfakes are video forgeries that make people appear to be doing or saying things they aren't. Deepfake software has made manipulated videos accessible and increasingly harder to detect as fake.

I just saw a TikTok video asking the comment section what conspiracy theories they believe in.
The responses included:
The butterfly effect
Reincarnation
Aliens (no specifications of whether the “conspiracy” was that they are being hidden from us by the government, the concept, or the probability of their existence)
Red string theory
Quantum Immortality/Suicide
Alternate realities/reality shifting
That companies make their products easier to break to we have to buy them more
Ghosts
Y’all…
These aren’t conspiracy theories.
