Just the silly thought of chu2 having no concept of money whatsoever and buying ras the most expensive gifts casually. Pareo can't find a good place to take pictures? She'll just buy a whole studio. Masuki's stove ran out of gas? She'll just buy her a new induction stove it can't be that expensive right? Once she finds out rokka lives in what is basically an attic she is one step away from buying rokka and apartment.

yo i played persona 5 for the first time (II)

In this incredibly long chain of posts: Hina taking shape as a character, records of how people gender her, and my reactions to the events of the game, as seen from screenshots of Discord messages I sent.

Sojiro gets off to a good start by not even misgendering the delinquent he took in.

Look, he's trying, at least. That's what matters

In future, Ryuji will consistently forget that Hina is a girl, but he never seems to mean anything by it.

Side note: The mod plans to change the romance options to 4 men and 4 women at some point (as of right now, romances are unchanged, as far as I could tell). Ryuji is going to be one of the male options.

Morgana forgets sometimes as well, but I can't recall a time where he outright calls Hina male, and since, you know, these people are speaking Japanese that's translated for our readability, it's entirely possible that he barely misgenders her at all. Which makes sense, given his whole thing is helping her.

Another change from the mod! Hina can only go into womens' restrooms.

It took about the entire length of the game for me to get to the point where i even tolerate Morgana, though.

Morgana has a different comment on Hina's room.

Takemi: one of the romance options that the mod is planning to keep. The fact that she is a romance option utterly ruins her for me. You will not be seeing much more of her. Hina stopped visiting the clinic after rank 3 of her confidant.

She passes enough to get into the womens' bath with no incident.

I do not have many screenshots from Kamoshida's Palace. I take many more screenshots in later Palaces. Due to that, I miss a lot of Ann's establishing character moments in this recap, so I'll recap her here:

She's one of the romance options the mod plans to keep. She also misgenders Hina more than Morgana but less than Ryuji.

Sae barely misgenders Hina, but that's just thanks to her barely having any chance to refer to her in the third person for most of the game.

This line works much better with the headcanon, and as a fun side bonus it hurts a lot more!

Updated propaganda for 0909

John was born to save Mikoto from his self-destructive tendencies. Everything he does is centered on Mikoto, all he wants is to keep Mikoto safe. He doesn't see himself as a person, he presents himself as inhumane, all so that nobody will believe Mikoto himself is guilty of murder and will instead blame John. It's unclear who actually did the murder, or how many there were- no matter what, John will take the blame. Mikoto seems fine blaming John for the murder, even though he still seems hesitant to accept there was one in the first place and that John exists. Mikoto's disgusted by the idea that he could have murdered someone, and John is an easy scapegoat. Mikoto didn't know John existed, he's only just know entertaining the thought of his existence. And Mikoto is terrified, horrified, disgusted by him. John's dedicated himself entirely to Mikoto, and Mikoto hates him.

There's a lot of symbolism with dogs. John is a dog trying to act like a wolf, all to protect the person he loves. But he's just a dog. He sees himself as disposable, unlovable- but it's okay, as long as Mikoto is okay.

The yearning, the violence, the hatred, the dehumanization, the devotion- its just such a compelling ship. If John is the one who committed the murders, then you have someone killing in order to "save" someone, even if it scares and disgusts the other. If Mikoto is the one who committed the murders, then you have someone taking all the blame for someone's crimes and defending them until the very end, even if that person doesn't even know they exist.

Clarification for those confused on 0909 being classed as a comship after a reblog misunderstanding.

We as a blog are aware system relationships alone do not count as comship. There are many other reasons the ship would count as such provided in this propaganda.

yo i played persona 5 for the first time (I)

(This post is going to be long, and the ones that follow are liable to be even longer)

I started playing Persona 5 Royal on July 4th of this year.

But I did not want to play as this boy.

Why not? I dunno. I didn't want to. I spent far too much time pretending to be a teenage boy in real life, and I felt no particular desire to do it again.

So, what am I to do? Well, seek out a way to play as a girl instead, obviously.

Which is where this comes in:

An in-development mod to let Joker be a girl instead! Exactly the push I needed to convince me to buy Persona 5 Royal.

So, meet Hina Satou, amateur girl and professional assault-charge-haver.

Hina is significantly shorter than regular Joker. Cutscenes are not adjusted to account for this.

Many animations look really messed up. This is just the price of entry to Hina's beautiful story.

It's at this point, just after the beginning of the game, that we notice...

Much of the script is yet to be changed. So Hina is referred to in masculine terms by a lot of the cast for a lot of the game.

You could take this as just a facet of the incomplete mod and pretend that it isn't happening, or you could do what I did:

Hina Satou is trans! And it's 2016.

So if she's trans, then the lines that change are reflective of how the characters see her.

Everyone just thinks she's a guy who cross-dresses, I guess? Look, the headcanon takes some work.

Given how she looks, people probably wouldn't have even known she's trans if her record hadn't been released by Mishima on Kamoshida's orders.

Some script changes are implemented, however.

In contrast to regular Joker, it seems pretty obvious that Hina's hair is not like that out of a deliberate stylistic choice, but because it just literally will not behave.

A change to the entire context of a conversation to take into account Joker being a girl. These are, as of now, few and far between.

This scene is unchanged, despite Hina normally using the womens' side in the bathhouse, so it looks like Hina was peer pressured into joining the Bros Bathing Time

She has to be, like, neck deep in the water to pull off this ruse.

You see how this as-yet-incomplete mod changes the context of so many of the game's lines and events.

It's a well-made mod. The new VA work from Alexa Farron is really good, the models and new outfits look great, and the writing changes, where they exist, are excellent. But its currently in-development state means that my trans headcanon works surprisingly well, and that I got more than a few glimpses through the curtain to the original, unmodded script.

So, now you understand the context. Next time: impressions of the game overall, and my slow descent into madness over this headcanon.
