I understand you're busy making the webcomic rn, but I was wondering if you're planning to finish inheritance as a sims story as well :) Thank you

I wish I could say yes, but the answer is, unfortunately, no.

Rambling about it under the cut.

In addition to making the web comic (which I work on 20-35 hours weekly), I also am working on art pieces to sell as prints online and possibly wholesale, in stores. (And those illustrations won't be entirely Inheritance-related, btw, they are going to be romantic, queer illustrations done in midcentury style! Very excited about the work.) In other words, I've shifted my working hours to writing and creating Inheritance in comic form and also freelance art.

I haven't actually cracked TS4 open in over a year. I feel massive pangs of nostalgia looking back on that first draft of Inheritance, and I can't even begin to describe how grateful and humbled I am to have had that many beta readers for what has become a passion project.

I started making this story as a way to relieve a massive amount of stress I'd been under in 2019. It was just a lil side hobby, I had no grand plans or schemes, and, hilariously, I was winging it a lot of the time. The first three chapters were mostly made up as soon as I booted the game, with little planning.

There came a point of reckoning where I realized what I'd written could no longer be constrained by the medium I chose. TS4 is a fun and unusual way to make stories/comics, but ultimately, I had to make the shift to web comics to make myself happy. I was getting too frustrated by the limitations. I had to free Rivro.

I have every single story post saved on a hard drive, so if for some reason my blog gets deleted or something happens to tumblr, I will make an archive section of my website (samhayes.art) for future re-reads.

I'd give you spoilers for the ending, but you'll just have to wait and see, because the comic is following (mostly) the same plot ;)

Mornings

A mix of old and new art, though this will probably be the last of these for a minute because most of the other parts are strictly Gene lore. Tokwan x Gene adventure when they both lived at Granada on the Moon before the war broke out fully. Gene worked at a drag club at night and as a hairdresser in the day as he was awaiting his military activation. Tokwan worked for MIP but sold drugs/arms under the table at night. There is more I've written here, but I liked this little vignette to show their relationship at that particular moment. Please read from left to right. 17th Century Gaydar

With @canisalbus's characters Vasco and his QPR wife Ludovica. Consider this a Headcanon but I imagined they were likely set up as like, teens- maybe not fully arranged marriage, but marriage was heavily implied with their courtship. So here I imagine them as like 15/16 which is why they're kind of smaller and scruffier, as well as having their outfit colors a little lightened. Also Ludovica in cute ear bows moment. I THINK this is my first more or less official online artist fan art??? I hope I did them justice.

So Kaleb James is the biggest pop star ever! Well, he's more popular with girls than with boys – but whatever. Who cares what they think? Anyway, he wrote a song when he was only 14, and became a mega superstar and now at 18, he's a REALLY BIG DEAL! He's just a really great singer and performer. Blah blah blah blah" 

Toulouse's smirk widens "Can you tell 'Ro is his biggest fan?"]
