August Greens is a 32-page collection of photos and watercolor snapshots from this summer. This zine closes my chapter on Mission Hill in Boston. It's hard right now; housing has no right to be as expensive as it possibly can, and unfortunately, many people will be displaced from this once 'affordable' area come September 1st. What I wanted to collect in this zine was nostalgia for this place before our last month begins: Our trips, taking the T, walking to the museum, and just living. (My partner and I have found a new place, even better, but we worked for months at it in addition to a Huge stroke of luck)

This Zine is available as a physical copy (pre-order), which will be shipped out in late August with a post card and sticker, or as just an e-zine, which can be read now!

Les Pathfinders 17 du 508e PIR de la 82e Division aéroportée américaine et les membres d'équipage posent devant leur Douglas C-47 avant le départ pour la France – Opération Boston – Débarquement de Normandie – Base aérienne de la RAF à North Witham – Angleterre – 5 juin 1944

Les éclaireurs (pathfinders) de la 82e Division aéroportée comme ceux de la 101e Airborne étaient équipées de balises radio au sol Eureka qui communiquaient avec un émetteur/récepteur Rebecca embarqué dans les appareils de parachutage. Le système de guidage indiquait au pilote la distance et l'alignement de son appareil le séparant de la zone de parachutage. Les Pathfinders décollent d'Angleterre depuis la base de la RAF North Witham et sont les premiers soldats à toucher le sol français en vue de baliser les zones de largage (DZ) des deux divisions de parachutistes américains : la 82nd et la 101st.

La composition type d'une équipe de Pathinders est la suivante :

1 officier chef d’équipe, de grade Lieutenant

1 officier assistant chef d’équipe

2 opérateurs de la balise EUREKA

2 assistants opérateur de la balise

1 chef de section lampe holophane

7 hommes équipés chacun de deux lampes holophanes

4 à 6 hommes pour protéger la DZ

NOTE: This was supposed to post yesterday, but I posted it in the wrong spot. So here it is...

Drop Nineteens are another band reforming 30 years later. I've loved these reunion albums for a several reasons. First, I love the idea of friends coming back to make music years later - I appreciate that the passion and love for music stays strong. Second, some of these "reformation" albums are strong - the recent Vacant Lot post comes immediately to mind. Also, those Mission of Burma albums for the late aughts/early 2010s were outstanding. And finally, sometimes the reformation brings a band across my radar for the first time.

All three appear to be true on "Hard Light", the new album from Drop Nineteens (Boston, Massachusetts). And while I'm not the biggest fan of shoegaze, I do like it. This reminds me of some Yo La Tengo, and Erik Blood (listen to Touch Screens).

Wharf Cat is releasing this on the heels of another reformed band release from Bush Tetras.

So, I went to Anime Boston today for the second year in a row, and not only did I have a BLAST, but it helped cure my loneliness for the day! Granted, I'm still an introvert by nature, but being around good people with at least some common interests makes me feel better about myself. I will, however, say this: don't be like me and blow your entire week's paycheck on souvenirs. On the other hand, getting the Nendoroid of Todoroki in his stealth suit was WORTH IT.
