I started braiding split reeds and grass from day one at the rental and added to it over the first week until it spanned half the deck (... 20-30 feet?) Eventually picked up a needle from the local yarn store and was able to sew it together using split cattail leaves.

I adore how incredibly light it is and the fact that I didn't "cheat" and use thread (which I certainly had on hand). This is very much what I wanted to do on the trip, and something I've wanted to try for quite some time. Success!

the evil/opposite art style challenge going around looks fun and it's always important to try things differently from what you're used to but i have no idea how i would do it personally because having a consistent style has never been my goal. i feel like i have about 5 different styles at this point. but if anyone has suggestions of stuff that you've noticed i never do in art that i could try, i'd be interested to hear them

Sanguine-Inspired Lantern Decoration

I went out with a buddy for the first time in a while and we impulse-bought far too much stuff. This was the spoils of my side of the venture. Lantern, fake grapes, fake flowers, fake leaves, fake feathers, all ti accumulate to this little thing. Does it have any practical function other than to look pretty? No! But neither does Sanguine so I think I hit the nail on the head :]
