And the electrified pool incident continues (ik electric eels are of fresh water and not the ocean, but I already drew it. So. I have no canonical explanation for that I did it for the joke)

Taking a second look I'm starting to think their outfits are too simple, but first and foremost I wanted to do something fun for the looks of their primary features. I took inspiration from Luca (probably one of my favorite movies ever so I couldn't help but reference it here too lol) for the eye catching merform designs! Considering they're canonically sea monsters anyway, I didn't want to just insert their og designs here, so in this au they're more like in between their og merforms and human forms, also with their color pallettes are more similar to what flotsam and jetsam looked like in the little mermaid movie imo I wanted them to essentially wear the same thing despite the contrasting personalities, and technically most of the time they're walking around the school they're simultaneously working for Azul, looking for students to make deals with happens in this universe too (fortunately for them and unfortunatelyfor others), so an outfit more inclined to formal would be ideal to cause a good impression on their business, or as good as they can make it anyway. Nobody can contain Floyd though, if he has to wear an uniform he is going to stylize it.

Keeping it short this time, I don't wanna keep it on my drafts to add more notes later and postpone this more than I already have 💀 if I remember more facts about the AU twins I'll share them later!

Also, I was thinking of making a tag for asks related to this AU and I think I'll name it #.phantom asks to follow the AU theme lol but now I have to edit previous asks to insert this tag so wish me luck

I think it would be nice to have the option to hide numbers on ao3. Make it where the 'kudos' and 'hits' number is author-viewable only, have an alternate option for when a list is sorted by such so people can read things based off their tags and preferences rather than see big number go brrrr

I speak as someone with popular fics, it doesn't have to be a requirement but like, as an option? This could go for other websites too, tumblr notes and the like.

i've decided to put these tweels body language thoughts in a seperate post! just because i do like them (and would love to hear other people add related thoughts seperately from the art i made!! :DD)

floyd is the type to slink around! he doesn't ever sit still-- he's always bending and swerving and circling you, generally is a lot more twisty and turny with his body movements. maybe because those are the most natural kinds of movements he could make with his original mer form.

he gets up all in your personal space, bends down to your level to speak to you kinda stuff. it feels very condescending and invasive, especially if you've got some unfinished business with azul. but the more you get to know him, the more friendlier those same movements seem to get.

he bends over to speak to you on equal grounds. it subconciously tells you that he's having this conversation with you as if you're equals. after the "this guy sees me as a toy to throw around" phase comes the "this guy is very friend-shaped" phase.

jade on the other hand is very still in comparison. he stands at his usual height even when talking to people far shorter than him. thus, it forces people shorter than him to look up when they're speaking to him. it's off-putting, regardless of if you're under azul's contract or not.

he never bends down to meet you at your level or to talk to you as an equal (not fully, anyway). it's both a way to keep up that gentlemanly appearance while also silently telling you that he's better than you. he's observing you like a specimen. he has the upper hand here.

that's why in the rare moments when he bends down, it's lot more genuine and friendly! when he's tending to mushrooms, digging around the dirt, so on and so forth. his guard is down and he's doing something he genuinely enjoys with no strings attached :>

both eels loooove to use their height as an advantage in different ways!! floyd moves around in a way someone only of his stature can move and gets the most out of his body, jade uses his height to impose an air of superiority!
