Yet as luck would have it, when you were seventeen a match presented itself to those that were interested in securing a stronger political alliance with another. Daemon Velaryon was looking to find a suitable wife for his heir, Aethan. Your grandmother didn't hesitate to reach out and offer you as a viable option and it seemed that Lord Velaryon agreed due to the fact that your houses both had close ties to House Targaryen and before you knew it, you were betrothed with the wedding arriving far quicker than you were prepared for. Before long, you found yourself married to a man that you hardly knew, in a castle that was not your home. It was a difficult adjustment to say the least, especially considering the fact that Aethan seemed far more focused on the fleet than on getting to know you at all. Yet you were determined to find a place for yourself at Driftmark and while your husband focused on his duties, you did your best to form a rapport with the castle staff and slowly began taking over some of the responsibilities of the Lady of Driftmark that had fallen to the wayside after the passing of Aethan's mother, simply to ease some of the load that fell upon the shoulders of your father-by-law and because it gave you something to do other than simply exist in the place.

Though many moons passed before the Dragon King made it to Highgarden, it felt like no time at all and yet all the time in the world to Percy. He was still in shock, still healing, itching to pick up a sword again to find an outlet for his frustration, his grief. The image of Edmund swallowed by flames kept him up at night, but no more did he want to pick it up again than when the Tyrells were given the seat. Stewards to the Gardeners before the Field of Fire, they had no claim to the post other than keeping it warm while their masters were away. It was like conquering a keep and giving it to the first stableboy you saw - it was insulting. His Lord Father and Lady Mother were horrified and offended, but they were perhaps more politically aligned, discussing whether they should attempt to play both sides and curry favor - the Field made them cautious to speak too brazenly about their distaste - but Perceon refused to hear it, to even consider one of them bowing before the Tyrells, or even to speak of marrying with them in the future. Beyond blind loyalty to their Kings, Edmund was his friend. And this would not stand.

At home, her mother was already conspiring to advance their station amongst Targareyn supporters. She wanted more for her daughter, who she was showing more attention as she came of a marriageable age. The Celtigar boy was closer in age to her sisters, and she did not wish to waste good heir-producing years. She wanted more, but settled, in her mind, for the Qoheryses. Valyrian stock, an old and proud family, but one with no titles to their name. They were loyal stewards to the Targareyns and having Caerina by their side, producing their heirs, it would still provide them with a close, loyal link.
She married the eldest Qoherys in a wartime wedding, mere weeks after the burning of Harrenhal. Her new husband was among those fighting still, and so after a very brief time together in her new family’s lot at Dragonstone, she was left alone once again. He was kind to her, she was growing fond of him, but his absence left lingering questions.

She returned to the great Reacher lord family tree again after the Field of Fire, when she was told that the Gardeners had been wiped from existence, and she thought again of when her Septa first showed her the great interwoven tree. Not all of them, she thought, we have Gardener blood. But so did the Manderlys. And the Peakes, twice over. And the Lannisters of the Westerlands, and the Tyrells, nine separate times. Practically all of the Reach had Gardener blood, and she could not understand how the Tyrells won the seat. Had the Hightowers not also stayed out of the fighting? The Crone had shared her wisdom with them, kept her father and brothers from the fray, but if the Tyrells had come to power, surely it was the will of the Gods.
Margaery had always had her eyes on them, anyway. Theo had been the son of a mere steward to the Gardeners when she had first set her eyes on him, though still the heir to his family regardless. As a younger daughter, she had prayed her parents might find that a suitable match for her when her sisters were already married, but when he became heir to Highgarden? Margaery began to pray her sisters were married elsewhere.

The rest of her time growing up had been uneventful for the most part and had gone unchanged except for the times she focused on duty and of course horseback riding. That was until word of the war broke out that seemed to have changed around them. Their father had stayed out of the war which was a relief as she was scared of what the war would do to her family. The war was one of the many things she had worried about even if her family had not joined in on such things. She saw the impact of what it was doing on others and she was wondering what it would do for them. Soon enough the war had come to an end and she felt a bit uncertain of what lay in store for the future. She heard rumors of what had taken place at Harenhall and she was glad that her family did stay out of it. She would have been worried if they had gone and fought not sure what would of happen. She hopes things will go back to normal, but there is never a way to know for sure what would happen. When Aegon had come to oldtown to watch in silence as the new king was welcomed, with the newfound king she did wonder what it would mean for her family.

As she aged, she knew that her father was searching for someone to marry her off to, so when she turned fifteen and was told that she would be married off to Alton of House Celtigar she wasn't surprised. She wasn't exactly thrilled when she had learned what he was known for. Once they had married she had grown jealous though she had done her best to not show it, especially in public, when she would see him flirting amongst the court. There were many times she had caught sight of it which had caused her to hate him for a time. Hate was a strong word to say towards her husband but it was the honest truth, she disliked him flirting with others when he had barely looked at her in any manner. By the time they had been married for two years the pressure to have a child, a son in particular had put pressure on the two, but she had seen how it had affected her husband and though she had mixed feelings for him at this point she had felt bad for him. Soon enough they had welcomed their son into the world she was so delighted. It had been the first time she had seen a small change in him since she had met him two years prior. That was when she had questioned him about knowing very well that there was something going on and she wanted to get to the bottom of it. After they had talked she had learned quite a lot and most she had known about him in the two years. It was from that day that they had come to an understanding on both ends and she had come to accept his childish and flirtatious ways even if she still got jealous over the idea every so often. She was at that point in time she had accepted him for who he was and he had done the same for her. This was the first time she had truly started to love him and not hate him, even though there were many times in which she had wanted to hate him when he had reached the point that made her upset. The two raised their son and she was glad to see him grow up and see Alton as a part of his development growing up which made her so happy to see.
