I could literally talk for hours about tv shows and books. I could vent about my life, traveling, trying to figure out life and what to do regarding future, negative parents, having children, single parenthood, being broke, dreaming of all the things life has to offer, gorgeous men and women celebrities. I can be a chatterbox if it’s something I’m interested in, otherwise I’m an introvert and I like to stay in my cocoon and read and watch tv so I figure tumblr was my best bet on trying to engage more with people who are like minded 😂

Reflecting on Time

I can't believe I've been on Tumblr since 2010. Last night, I went down a rabbit hole revisiting my earliest posts. My first one was written when I was 19, and now here I am at 34. How time flies.

Back then, I wrote about feeling lost, about starting fresh in the city I’ve now called home for 14 years. I wrote about my fear of aging, of facing an uncertain future. I wanted to freeze time, to always stay 20. Now, at 34, those fears linger. Life has been a mix of clarity and confusion, of moments where I felt like I truly knew myself, and others where I was utterly adrift.

The pandemic created this strange pause—a gap in time. It brought me back to the things I loved in my younger years, like Doctor Who and Harry Potter, though now I cringe a little at my past obsessions. It’s wild how time changes perspectives. People I once admired have fallen from grace, heroes turned into disappointments. Time flies, and yet this feeling of impending doom never quite leaves.

I don’t have kids. My career isn’t stable—I’m still in school, working on a PhD. Nostalgia and melancholy are my constants. I’ve lost friendships, made bad choices, and faced regrets. Looking back, my younger self was so naive, so unaware of the road ahead. And yet, here I am, still making mistakes, still trying to grow.

I wrote back then about wanting love while fiercely guarding my independence. I’ve found love and lost it, over and over again. And found it once more. Love, I’ve learned, is messy and complex. Being human is hard, especially in the world we live in now.

Time keeps moving, and I’m still figuring it all out.

I have been living in this state of existential dread. Maybe I'm starting on a depressive episode, but just, I don't know. Maybe it's just me being fucking American. But I've just been staring at all these people who are moving to other countries, and the quality of life is better. The work/life balance is better. The food is better, their health is better, their health CARE is better. I know moving to another country won't solve all my problems, but I just keep looking at my life like, "This cannot be it." My purpose in life cannot be to make some white man money while I live paycheck to paycheck for the next 40-50 years, and then fucking die. While never having enough money to go do the things I want to do, never having enough free time to enjoy anything, never being rested enough to fully tune into my life, never eating food with enough nutritional content to energize my body. Never getting to relax in my own house without feeling guilty for no contributing, never getting to work without feeling guilty for not being with my kid, and never getting to enjoy my daughter fully because there's always something I could be doing better as a mom, if I only just had the fucking time and energy.

And not just even the big stuff, the small stuff too, like just existing in a place that's nice to look at. Like I'll never ride a train through beautiful landscapes, or even seeing pretty buildings, because I live in fucking AMERICA. Like 20% of the landscape is plain, square, beige buildings, 10% is fast food signs, and the other 70% is fucking asphalt roads and parking lots.

How is this all? How do people look around and go, "Yeah, this is what I want. This is the life I want. I'm okay with this." Like, fuck. I feel like I'm dying inside a little more every day, and I think I'm just no longer disillusioned by it. Like, no matter what story I tell myself, I know in my heart of hearts that I have no control over this. I know that this life I'm living is COMPLETELY owned and operated by the same like, 5 companies that own basically everything in this entire country. There is no changing this for myself. There's no changing this for any of us in this country.

The only answer is to leave. Truly. The only answer I see to this fucking soul crushing life we live in America is to just fucking leave. And I really want to, but they don't even pay us enough to do that.

Just... god damnit, man. I'm so tired.

Hi guys! I’m not sure too many of you care, but here’s my SUPER lengthy review of Romeo + Juliet on Broadway at Circle in the Square!!! Kit Connor (my husband) 4life

This show was so goddamn incredible. I cried at least twice during act 1 and at least once during act 2. I’ve had these tickets since the day they dropped, before ever scheduling any travel plans or hotel, I knew I wanted to see this for my birthday. I’ve been obsessed with Kit Connor since season 1 of Heartstopper. I’ve since bought the cologne he wears (I just got a bigger bottle for Christmas, I love it!) (it’s Jermyn Street by Floris London) and gushed over every behind the scenes pic I could get for Heartstopper seasons 2 and 3. I’ve known Rachel Zegler since my best friend let me into her world of Lucy Gray obsession and I found out how sweet and charismatic and talented Rachel is. Also, I have personal connections to another actor in this show! They don’t know me, but I know them through knowing one of their family members. This wasn’t any form of advantage but it was so cool to keep my eye on them and see how incredibly they really did. The entire cast was phenomenal. I really loved Gabby Beans performance as Mercutio, in particular. The double casting was incredible.

Ambience:

- Consuming the marketing before seeing the show, I was weary of it possibly being too millenial, too “modern”, too kitsch almost? But in the cringe tryhard way, not the naturally eclectic way. I knew they’d be intertwining pop music and modern clothes into the show, with the tagline being ‘The Youth Are Fucked’. I was so pleasantly surprised to be able to say that these features did nothing but make the show shine, and absolutely added to how incredibly bizarre this piece was. From the neon lights (and overall great light choreo) to teddy bears everywhere (still no clue where the bear motif comes from!) to synth background music and a few real pop songs, it added such an odd layer of the actors really feeling themselves and giving the audience time to breathe and feel.

- I should also mention my wonderful seats. The theater is shaped like a small arena, with the circular stage being slightly raised from the floor seats, and two doorways off stage, each on either end with an exit sign. One is primarily dedicated to Romeo and the other to Juliet, sitting atop the doorways and using them to navigate the rest of the theater (like accessing a cool catwalk that spans every direction of the ceiling!). We were incredibly lucky to be sat RIGHT behind Romeo’s “station”, about 2 rows behind it and about 4 seats in from it. Great view of Kit. All the freaking time.

- One last thing to mention is they had live captioning visible to like the top half of the theater, I’d say the first 5 rows from the top were able to see the screen programmed with the lines. Sometimes the timing was a bit off but generally if you couldn’t make something out audibly, you could look up and see the line.

Act 1:

- This act was playful and violent and FUN. There was dancing and singing and even the fighting and murders felt like a dance. Everything was friendly (and quite gay, too) while still being very Shakespearean. My favorite *aspect* of this act was getting to see a group of men all comfortable in their masculinity and queerness dancing and jumping half naked around the stage. It was really hot. My favorite *scene* of Act 1 was when Kit (Romeo) is running all around audience aisles and the stage declaring Juliet’s beauty and his love for her. He was so fucking dedicated and passionate and genuine in his acting, I cried here. Nothing hotter than a man committed to performance. I should also note Rachel (Juliet)’s incredible singing. She sings solo twice in Act 1 and her live singing sounds SO well done. I adored everything from Benvolios playfulness to the Nurse’s flirty-ness to Romeo’s dedication to all the great stage fighting. And of course…the pull up kiss / balcony scene. Nothing I can say except beautiful and well done and hot as fuck.

Act 2:

- This is when the trendy obscure stuff starts to fade and Shakespeare is at the forefront. Like half of the characters are already dead and everyone’s outfits are darker and the monologues are longer and there’s really not much music. If you’re into tragic chemistry and emotional scripting, this part is wonderful. But for me, I was slightly bored. Romeo’s boyish romance is gone and all that’s left is devotion and tragedy. It’s tough. It’s especially tough if you have people around you frequently coughing or sniffling or whispering (nudge nudge). Sometimes it takes you out of the moment and you really want to flip them off. Etiquette, people!!! Anyways, the acting is great it’s just more….STRAIGHT play. It had one moment where they needed to do a set/blocking change in blackout so they had a character break the fourth wall and do an intentionally bad sing along to “We Are Young” which I found annoying but I suppose it was necessary for distraction, but I wish they chose something a little better.

Anyway, that’s it! Seeing Kit and Rachel and Tommy and Gabby and everyone else be so dedicated to their craft brought me to tears. Oh, and the shirtless buff men being sweaty and kinda gay definitely helped.

Just watched Kaiju no. 8

This anime answers the long-standing questions: Who does clean the damage and bodies after a major kaiju attack?

Damn I really thought the story is about battles through a mere janitor's POV. The view that the heroes aren't just the fighters but also those who do the clean up is interesting (and true). He ends up becoming an action guy though.

Ngl the reasons why I watch this are just two: OneRepublic out of nowhere singing an anime credit and a friend laughing nonstop watching this in a 3-hour train trip.

My brain: Isn't the name Kafka too specific, philosophical and heavy for a comical and heroic main character like this guy? *several eternity later* My brain: Oh.

Alas, a 30-something main protagonist! The wisedom of a 30s middle class worker >>>. Also his personality is so magnetic and a surefire way to make friends.

I really like Kafka and Reno's relationship, they are shining example of great senpai-kohai team. Even tho Reno looks like aloof white haired anime boy at first, turns out he is just polite and an extremely loyal person to boot. Him being a worrywart perfectly compliment Kafka's carefree nature.

To be honest all the character who look like troublesome brats end up being so lovable.

Kafka can't go 1 second without mentioning Mina. Like, ever. Man is down bad. Can't blame him tho. Also classic example of gossips travel through the walls of office buildings.

Hoshina is the realest lmao I too would hire Kafka as a comedian.

I like the kaiju biology. I'm not exactly a big fan of kaiju shows, but I enjoy the varieties of them in this show.

God I hate No.9 so much. Something about it/him? just pisses me off, like an itch that I can't scratch.

Season 2 when ughhhhh

TL;DR in today's perspective, this is like an early 1990s millenial befriending a bunch of 2000s gen Zs who'd do anything to bail him out of jail.
