A message to my parents:
you don’t know me
I hide half of my personality from you
the fact that I vape
drink until i can’t remember anything
I hate my body
and sometimes, I hate you
my friends deal with my panic attacks
over loud noises or raised hands
and you will never know the impact you had on me
the trauma you have caused
the sleepless nights
the parenting skills i have learned
just so my siblings could grow up happier then me
i’m glad you changed for them
but I will never forget how i was treated

And I think it’s so funny how it’s a known fact that the Robin costume is inspired by Dick’s past as a trapeze artist but every modern iteration will show the Flying Graysons outfit and it won’t resemble the Robin outfit at all (more often than not, giving Dick much more coverage than the original Robin outfit) and while yes it’s obviously DC changing things up and being silly,,, it does prompt the idea that when Bruce was like “uh no u can’t wear underwear to fight crime” Dick immediately said “:( but im an orphan” and lied because he liked the fit

Everyone who ever loves movie theatre popcorn needs to buy Flavacol. It’s the flavored salt used to give movie theatre popcorn its taste and it makes popcorn taste exponentially better than regular salt
A link to prove that it’s genuinely The Real Deal

CC creators not wanting conversions
Okay so I'm hearing this is going on lately and I just want to say something about it cause it's ridiculous bullshit. When the sims 4 first came out and there was no cc for it, you know what the first thing sims 4 creators did? They converted cc from the sims 3 over to the sims 4 and a lot of it was Newseasims hairs! Did most of you ask Newseasims if you could convert the hairs over to sims 4 or did you just do it anyway? I bet you just did it anyway. The point is converting items from sims 3, 2, or 4 takes nothing from you, it's still available for whatever game it was created for it and it' still within the sims. This is in the EA Policy, we don't have to ask you for permission to convert, reupload, share, change, remodel etc. so sims 4 creators who keep harassing people about conversions or shared cc need to stop. Unless you own the sims, no one has to ask you permission for anything involving this game and that includes converting/sharing content.
If you want to have full rights to your content, then by all means go over to second life where you have full control over who uploads or shares. I'm 31 years damn old, DO NOT message me about cc being converted, cause your ass is going to get ignored or it's just going to make me convert more of your content out of pettiness. Most of you still don't follow the 2 to 3 week rule for release on your content, I know when half of your shit is from second life or downloaded off some 3d site and put behind paywall. So please don't even bother. You guys take this shit way to seriously and it's annoying. it's a bunch of 1s and 0s and you're freaking out cause someone converted some pants over to sims 3..get real. Anyway the one thing I will still continue to do is give credit and never place behind a paywall...that's it. That's all you're getting from me..anyway good talk. So guys keep sharing and converting if that's what you want to do, don't let people bully you over a game.

Welcome to Sparks, Ivy. Kwahu has been looking forward to meeting you properly, and don't worry about Mechi. I'm sure he'll warm up to you in time.
Tumblr media
Ah yes. Babies cry and vomit. Delightful. At least little Ivy has been healed of her grave infant sickness now! Thank you, Healer Mech Serum!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kwahu carried his new ward to her lovingly constructed bedroom and fed her some of our yak's milk. No more lattes for a little while, sorry boys. You understand how it is.
Ivy is going to settle in well here, I think ❤️

one of the things that fascinate me about thawne: yes, he CAN be normal with kids! surprisingly normal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
((not at all times, though. his mental illness still spills through and as usual he, in trying to manipulate or hurt others, spits out at them the exact stuff that would hurt him (or have in his childhood/barry's rejection interpretation) the most in the first place lmao))
Tumblr media
but at the same time. his like second instinct when doing his bullshit is FUCK THEM (as) KIDS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(and, well. whatever this classifies as)
Tumblr media
#whats wrong with him. seriously. he loves picking fights with literal children So Much#AND NONE OF THEM WITH WALLY ON THE MATTER OF BEING THE BIGGEST FLASH FAN. HOW DID THAT NEVER HAPPEN#about the middle page. honestly i DIDNT remember he is a Jerk in that way too until i checked his interactions with bart for this post#this man officially should not be allowed near children as a mentor.#just straight up drops ALL his insecurities on a poor kid in trying to make him feel ashamed. NO breaking the abuse cycle for this bad boy#the only thing he doesnt say is the direct 'you are a disappointment' altho the message is still the same 💀💀💀💀💀💀#AND I BET HES HELLA PROUD OF THAT. I MEAN CONSIDERING THIS FACT IG HE DOES TRY TO BE BETTER THAN HIS PARENTS. SOMEWHAT.#and omg he formulates his point like in problem based learning (leading the child to making the correct conclusion themselves)#im dying. professor to the fucking core.#and the way he feels the need to bring up flash facts in his appeal?? EO YOURE SO HOPELESS. THIS IS 100% HOW BART SAW HIM THROUGH#and god knows what he told thad promising to get him out of the speed force if he fought barry there and whether he was going to fulfill it#and do you even IMAGINE how FUCKED barry's mental condition would be growing up if thawne fulfilled his button threat#and i really REALLY wonder about the tornado twins and their relationship with 'uncle eobard' but that will be a separate post#he doesnt know any other way tho. and he might be actually mad at bart for not supporting his every action as The Flash#like. he tries to play family but the second they question he just goes WHATEVER. I DONT NEED IT. FLASH OF MY VISION RUNS ALONE#his problem is that he just wants attention. he doesnt see family/heroing for what 'its really about' or downsides that may come with them#everything is so idealized in his head. and the moment he faces reality with its complications the concept immediately gets antagonized.#and then he reconsiders and changes the conditions but fails each time never realizing the problem is his mindset and not everything else#black white at its finest yall#and man. RELATABLE.#also WHY is he standing LIKE A STATUE when appearing in front of bart????😭😭😭😭#poor museum rat has no idea what heroes in real life stand like#eobard thawne#professor zoom#reverse flash#the reverse flash#bart allen#the flash#dc

do it. gimme the Izzy straight-coded meta 👀
I feel like I need to preface this by saying that Actually, Izzy Is Straightcoded would be the inflammatory clickbait title I'd give this if it were written to draw traffic & ad revenue to my shitty website. So don't take that term too seriously.
There has been a lot of ink spilled about Izzy thinking he's in a story where one can only be subtextually queer. Some even by yours truly, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. What would be the purpose of queercoding Izzy?
In general, villains* aren't queercoded to show that men being attracted to other men is bad. It's often the outcome; but it's not why the trope exists. It exists because cishet people tend to be (and are encouraged to be) profoundly uncomfortable with gender nonconformity, and so, making a character gnc becomes a quick and easy way to make him appear twisted and untrustworthy. If he** can't even obey the fundamental rules of his own gender (rules that are inherent and unchangeable!) what other rules does he disobey?
Or: If a man is insufficiently masculine, he can't be trusted to have morals. The villain isn't gnc because that's an evil trait to have; rather, the gender nonconformity is a symptom of his evilness. Being evil is what enables him to embrace his feminine side, and embracing his feminine side is what others him and marks him as a villain.
This only really works when he's contrasted with a hero (or heroine) who is Doing Gender Correctly. The villain is foul to highlight how good the hero is. The Hero will be honest and straightforward, brave, physically powerful; the Queercoded Villain treacherous, cowardly, and physically weak. The hero is a Proper Man, a Good Person. The villain an Improper Man, and therefore, a Bad Person.
Of course ofmd fundamentally rejects this. The shorthand wouldn't work, because ofmd simply doesn't think effeminacy is creepy. It's uninterested in moralizing self-expression; it just lets people be how they are. There's a wide range of expressions of masculinity on this show, and none of it is inherently bad. People are allowed to be hypermasculine, flamboyant, and anything inbetween, can express their gender in whatever manner they want, and it's all fine - as long as they are authentic about it. Be however you are, but be yourself, and this is what Izzy fails at. The repression marks him as a villain. The strict adherence to what he thinks a Real Man Pirate ought to be like. He's very preoccupied with enforcing a traditional (and toxic) masculinity on himself and others. It's no coincidence the characters he antagonizes the most - Stede and Lucius - are also the most effeminate ones. And I know, I know anglophones have a much more casual relationship to twat and cunt, those don't nearly feel as uncomfortable for y'all as they do for me, so I don't want to assign too much significance here, but he is the only character who constantly uses this kind of language, and also the one who uses the most gender&sexuality based slurs (as far as I remember).
All of this while being clearly, obviously queer himself! I do not feel like I need to explain this; his flustered reaction when Lucius asks him if he's ever been sketched speaks for itself. The fact that he meets Stede and immediately slices his shirt off of him, speaks for itself. And so on.
Izzy isn't straightcoded in the sense that the story wants us to believe he's exclusively attracted to women. Much like a queercoded villain doesn't need to be shown to be attracted to men (and can even be shown to be attracted exclusively to women!) to still be queercoded. He's straightcoded in the sense that he's a stand-in for restrictive and toxic gender roles that society enforces on people. He buys into the idea that there's a way of Doing Gender Wrong, and this is presented as a tragic character flaw. Something he has to overcome to be able to do the thing that actually marks a hero in this show: express himself authentically.
Part of why I found his death so moving is because it enables him to set right the toxicity he spread. His rehabilitation arc was about himself; about finally allowing himself to be, accepting love, accepting community. His death was about taking responsibility. About fully recognizing the hurt he caused. Looking death in the face enables him to finally abandon the last shreds of that toxicity, to apologize and be granted forgiveness. In the end, he was not beyond saving, and the harm he has done will be healed.
*Izzy is introduced as an antagonist to both Stede and the central romance of this romcom. I'm not gonna debate this; if you disagree, fine, but you clearly have such a fundamentally wrong different view of the show that it's pointless for us to try and convince each other.
**of course Queercoded Female Villains exist s well, but they are a whole different can of worms and less relevant to this discussion

okay, I've been putting this off for far too long. every time I see someone speculating I start to type and then decide it's too much and back out. but let's do it. let's talk about kaveh and faranak
so, here's the thing right
kaveh was a compelling character from the get go. as soon as we met him in the library in Sumeru, I was down. I was keen. I was ready to know more about this dude
and then we got to know him - we got his backstory! and I went - hmm. and oof. because kid with dead dad raised by a grieving mother is certainly something more down to earth than a lot of the other fantastical backgrounds in genshin
and then we got his character story. and we got that one fucking line.
"She sacrificed a lot raising me as a single mother"
and I had to put the controller down and go for a walk
because here's the thing about characters with a dead parent and especially dead dad backstories. a dead parent is a plot device. it's a reason for adventure, or mystery, or intrigue. or being ridiculously unsupervised. it's 'you've inherited your father's birthright' grandiose moments. it's not REAL
and the more we've gotten to know about kaveh, the more I've become convinced that someone in the writing team lost a parent young - probably a father. because kaveh and his relationship with faranak seem too real to be a fluke
I've seen kaveh and faranak's relationship described in a number of ways - abandonment, estrangement, guilt-filled avoidance - but imo none of those really match what we are seeing. because here are the facts: - faranak lost her husband young, in a tragic accident - faranak still had a young child to take care of, who needed her - faranak never had time to process the grief of her husband's passing (we know this from kaveh's backstory where he describes the way that she changed after his father's death. the way that she would cry for years after when reminded of him) - faranak never abandoned her self-imposed duties as a mother ("No matter what happens, I'll do my best to raise my son on my own.")
faranak, despite facing an overwhelming emotional situation found herself thrust in single motherhood, and she committed to it. she gave kaveh the best parts of herself that she could. she was burnt out and emotionally fraught, but it was everything she had, and she brought that dedication to kaveh every day. the best mother that she could be
and kaveh grew up with that love. with faranak's steady, dedicated presence. a good mother. but what else did he pick up inadvertently? - if you care about something, you dedicate yourself to it. you keep pushing, no matter how much it costs you - there's no such thing as quitting - emotions are something that you can squash down, something you can put them to the side and maybe dedicate some small time to feel when everything else in the world is done - caring is something you do for others, it's not something other people do for you
and then young kaveh meets young al haitham and they start their doomed thesis, and we know how that story ends
but before that, we know that faranak moved to fontaine. and we know that she did this with kaveh's blessing.
faranak, dedicated emotionally burnt out mother with no chance to recover, finally had a chance to go somewhere new, do something different; finally see something for herself outside of the duties she'd carried all of these years. and she brought that joy back to kaveh. to her son, who could see the change in her after all this time.
and faranak said - I enjoyed fontaine - I was even offered a job while I was there - maybe I'll go one day - when you're all grown up, and you don't need me any more
and kaveh felt - guilt, at his father's death, all those years ago, like maybe this was all his fault really anyway - self-loathing, at having held his mother back, every year since, that she dedicated to raising him, at the expense of her own life -determination, to be the best son he could be, by giving faranak whatever she needed from him, regardless of how it impacted him - love, for his mother
and kaveh said - I'm old enough already mother, you should go now
and so faranak went to fontaine, and finally had a chance to process what had happened to her. she finally allowed herself to pursue her own happiness, to move on and continue living her life. after years of putting kaveh first, she no longer needed to carry the weight of their relationship. as an adult, kaveh can tell her what support he needs from her now - her tired heart can rest, knowing that her son knows she loves him, and that if he needs her he only needs to write
and kaveh has continued to love his mother in the best way he knows how. by not needing her. by letting her go, and letting her live her own life. by showing her whenever they meet, whenever they write, that he's doing fine - better than fine even, great! he's a successful architect with everything he needs in life.
he was worth her sacrifice, for all those years, and now she doesn't need to worry about him any more.
so kaveh and faranak - don't talk often - barely see each other - and when they do communicate the focus is squarely on positive topics, about how their lives are now
and could kaveh ask her about his father? about her work? about her journal? theoretically, yes. realistically - with the amount of grief that blanketed their home while he was growing up, to the point that he knows more of his parents' lives through external sources - no. there is simply too much. to try and open that pandora's box is too much to bear.
so kaveh and faranak don't talk about it. they don't talk much at all, really, but that doesn't mean that she's abandoned him, or that she doesn't love him
imperfect love is love all the same

taking a DEEP BREATH yeah but have you considered that taylor broke the cycle in the exact way than his friends did, through love, and his character development might have been more subtle yeah but it was still extremely there and taylors ending was SUCH a good addition to the message at the core of season 2 because it says "hey your parents fucked up and YOU DONT HAVE TO FORGIVE THEM"
taylors character development was realizing that his dad FUCKED UP massively. and maybe he had justified reasons for it, even. just like the other dads, he had reasons for why he did what he did. but that doesnt erase the fact that it was fucked up, and that nicky hurt taylor, and that the damage is irreversible. and taylor doesnt have to forgive that, he doesnt have to put up with it.
i think its so good and important that linc and norm for example forgave their dads and love them at the end of all of s2. they chose their fucked up dads and they broke the cycle of fucking up, but its equally as important that taylor did that too by choosing to NOT forgive his dad. and at the end of the day he broke it by choosing love, by seeing who his dad really is and choosing to love his mom who was always there for him instead of the deadbeat with good intentions
"this is as good as it gets." and for taylor, that wasnt good enough
