Does anyone know accounts that make fanart of other characters like Pandora, Merrick, Bianca, Jesse, Maharet, Mekare, Petronia, Zenobia, Sybelle, Benji, Flavius, Avicus etc? Including other dynamics like Armand and his children, Maharet and her sister and/or niece, Pandora and Flavius, Armand and Riccardo etc. Preferably if they do some race-swapping and make things not as white as the books. Thank you! 💗

Can anybody who's read Merrick by Anne Rice tell me what they thought about it? It's one of the Vampire Chronicles books.

Okay question: It's kinda hard to move freely without spoilers in vampire chronicles book spaces when one has read some books but not all yet. I've read up to and including The Vampire Armand (+started Pandora but paused) and I read a few pages of Merrick and really want to continue with the VC- then I heard it's best to read the Mayfair chronicles first. I read about 100 pages of The Witching Hour and sorry but for me it's boring af. Is it worth it, for better enjoyment of the later VC books, to sit through reading the Mayfair chronicles? Honest opinion?

It’s neat to me that you described Maharet’s skin as olive/darker in tone during the Paris arrival scene a couple stories ago. It makes much more sense for that to be the case given where she originated than to be pale/white like Jesse (who is many generations removed, obvs). Red hair is documented in almost every population on earth so it’s not even dissonant for her to still be a redhead. It makes me trust you with whatever decisions you’ll make around a couple of other characters <3
I mean, let’s face it, Anne Rice had the deeply unfortunate habit of always making sure that many/most of her characters of color were described as having the lightest shade of skin possible. I’m not about that, nope. Coming from the ancient Levant, chances just aren’t high that Maharet (and someone else) would be the way they’re described in the book when it comes to their skin. I mean, Merrick was also whitewashed, which is why I’ve course corrected on her, too. I’m hope, hope, hoping the show will make sound casting decisions around Maharet, Akasha, and any other of the ancient vampires from the Levant, Egypt, and the broader Middle East. Guess we’ll see.

I finished reading Merrick and Merrick Mayfair has done nothing wrong in her entire life I'll stand by that and if she shows up somewhere in the Talamasca show or IWTV I'll be happy forever.

“To write something, you have to risk making a fool of yourself.” Anne Rice.
Book version fanfic. Set in the time of Prince Lestat. Mentions of the show and movie are made.
A woman named Quinn travels to New Orleans to fulfill her dreams of seeing the sights where the famous Lestat walked in the stories. And even paying a visit to a loved ones grave as thanks for turning her life around.
However things turn strange. She meets a man who speaks of the Mayfair's, wakes up one day to find everyone is behaving oddly, acting as though the books are not a work of fiction and are reality. She finds her hotel reservations are gone. She cannot go home as her plane ticket doesn't seem to be real as they tell here theres no one registered under that name or code. She gets strange looks for her chosen last name. The town seemed more retro then she remembered it.
She is nearly driven to madness when she meets the woman of the hour herself, Rowan Mayfair, who has got some loaded questions for poor Quinn. Who is she? And why does she share a name with Tarquin Blackwood, and carry the last name, Mayfair?

David about Louis.
There was this post a while ago, in regards to Louis and showing vulnerability, and you really have to give it to the show, they nailed it.
Also, and just as a note… how this must have hurt Louis. Damn.

A spin-off about Maharet and her descendants or Merrick's family would've been so awesome. Specially the latter, since Merrick is black and practices vodoo and when do you get to see that on screen? I hope we can still get something like this, since AMC seems eager to expand this universe. Even if there isn't much on the books, with the right creative mind, I'm sure they can use the source as a foundation to come up with great original content and elevate the story. I even have a writer in mind that I could see developing the show, that has created another series I love and had a bunch of women and/or people of color in front of and behind the cameras in her previous work... Somebody please start this campaign.

It’s only now that i’m well into my Merrick reread that I realized that there’s a book character that almost made it into the Interview With The Vampire show, even appeared in the script, but it was ultimately cut out; that would be Oncle Vervain.
Tumblr media
The script describes him as a young Voodo Priest, and it’s not far from he is in the books. This is how Merrick first describes him:
Tumblr media
In the books, Oncle Vervain is a member of the Mayfair family. He is Irene Flaurent Mayfair‘s brother; Irene Mayfair is better known by the name of Great Nananne. She was Merrick Mayfair’s godmother and also her great-great-grandmother.

So I'm in the middle of reading Merrick and it's so interesting. I really like it but also don't. Lol especially the way anne describes Merrick skin tone cafe color or whatever. In my head I'm like okay shes mixed obviously. The way she describes black people kinda throws me off but it's okay I like Merrick. Now I'm scared though because I feel like something bad is gonna happen to her. I still like David.

Before telling me who I forgot, be sure to check my other female VC character polls and see if she's on one of those instead!
