#men harassing women

If men don’t want to be accused of being a “gym weirdo” they could just let women have women only spaces.
For a long time, women have been hyper-vigilant regarding the unwanted male attention they receive at the gym. With the technological advancements, recording the offenders in action has become a sport of its own on TikTok, as women place their phones covertly on record and then watch the recording to know the person who was staring at them when they were doing squats.
On TikTok, the hashtag “gym weirdos” received over 1.9 million views, as videos showed men trying to flirt or harass women who were trying to complete their exercises unbothered.
One such TikTok detective is Gina Love. She visits the gym around four times a week because the endorphin boost helps counteract the daily stress.
“Watch this creep come over to my personal bubble while doing (Romanian deadlifts),” wrote Love in the caption of a video she posted on TikTok which received more than 50,000 likes.
“The gym was practically empty, and so many corners to be in and he chose this one," she added. In the video uploaded, the man is seen staring at Love from behind as she lifts dumbbells.
“I would say I experience creeps 15% of the times I work out,” Love, who lives in Atlanta, said. “It’s almost like they’re trying to undress you in their heads,” she added.
Talking about inappropriate male gazing, she said, “It makes me feel disgusted, anxious and my survival instinct kicks in. I’ll typically cut my workout short because I can’t get back into feeling comfortable with that person around me.”
Other women also posted similar experiences on her post. Several women agreed that gyms have turned into predator spaces. However, others dismissed the complaints of women as overreactions.
“It’s not your personal space,” wrote one person. “WTF is a personal bubble at a public gym?” another quizzed.
One Year Ago
My gym used to have a women only space before this court ruling, yeah I’m in CT. After the ruling it bears still women only in understanding but not in name. Now the gym is getting rid of it. Apparently other gyms in the state are doing the same.

However, some men have taken illicit photos of female athletes to a whole other level. They use infrared photography, which picks up heat signatures. The cameras pick up signatures transferred through undergarments. That means if the athlete’s uniform is thin enough, voyeurs can snap pics showing the contours of their underwear.
Early reports of this form of assault go back to the start of the decade. A 2020 article in President ONLINE notes that, even then, some prefectures in Japan had moved to ban infrared photography altogether in a bid to keep adult and minor athletes safe. In 2021, former volleyball player Ootomo Ai said she’d fallen victim to infrared photos, as well as people trying to take photos in or near the women’s bathroom.
To give female athletes an additional layer of protection, Japanese sports clothing manufacturer Mizuno this week announced a new “anti-infrared” line of competitive sportswear. According to the manufacturer’s site, the new clothing uses material designed to absorb light in the infrared range. That renders the garment opaque not only under visible light. but under infrared light as well.
“Incorporating the newly developed infrared blocking fabric into sportswear can help reduce the number of athletes that fall victim to illicit infrared photography,” the company said in a statement on their Web site.

why do u talk about men as a lesbian confused fr
You are aware that I still live in the same world as men, right? Just because I don’t have sex with them, that doesn’t mean I’m spared from their bullshit. Men still flirt, harass, and assault me just like any other woman. My lack of attraction to men means absolutely nothing to them.

I highly recommend to all of my trans brothers, sisters, and siblings to add this person to your block list. And despite the dysphoria it may cause to scroll their blog and expose yourself to the vile hatred included, I recommend doing that too so that you can also block the people that they interact with. Their blog is deeply intermixed with a larger TERF circle. A circle that a scrolls our tags and spend time actively harassing trans men and trans women. You will find a lot of blogs to block. Block them before they find you. Do not interact with this blog or any blog associated, they will use your interactions to fuel their hate rhetoric. Use the despicable blog as a tool to block a large swath of TERFs.

Good news! The city of Helsinki (the capital of Finland) has decided women don't have to wear a top on a beach.
It's only one city and it's only on the beach, but I believe this is a good chance to start normalizing women's upper bodies.

Being a woman does not make you immune to being misogynistic, nor does it make you any less prone to being misogynistic.
You are not less misogynistic by virtue of being a woman. You are not any less capable of perpetrating it.
To believe that being a woman in and of itself makes you less likely to be misogynistic is just essentialism. It implies that other genders are more misogynistic solely only the basis of their gender, rather than being misogynistic based on the choices they actively make.
To not be misogynistic, you must actively choose to fight against it, everyday. You must actively make choices that challenges systemic and social misogyny. You must question your own biases and how they influence your behavior.
You cannot be passively anti-misogyny. Your gender does not give you a free pass.
And importantly, women can absolutely perpetuate misogyny against other women, AND people who are not women. So you must be checking yourself for misogynistic bias in ALL interactions.
*** Before anyone comes at me, YES this applies to men and all genders as well. No, I'm not blaming women for systemic misogyny. I'm simply pointing out that everyone plays a role in it. Women are capable of perpetuating bigotry, especially if there are other intersections at play. Women are not perfect victims, they are human beings who have autonomy, and that autonomy includes the capability to uphold harmful institutions. ***
*** Also yes, experiencing misogyny on a daily basis will cause you to have a different relationship to it. Some folks respond to that by fighting against misogyny, but others respond to that trauma by continuing the cycle of abuse. This is just a fact. ***

unwarranted Cis Opinion but I'm getting really uncomfortable w people responding to bathroom bills by posting pictures of trans men like DO YOU WANT THEM IN WOMEN'S BATHROOMS
bc like. no they're men. they should be in men's bathrooms unless that feels unsafe. but. it really feels like it's not helpful to lean into the idea that seeing someone presenting masc or being read as a man in a women's bathroom means You're In Danger.
like I know several butch women and NB ppl who are really scared around being on T or getting top surgery bc they're not men and they don't want to be in the men's bathroom, and in that circumstance stuff like growing facial hair or reading more androgynously can be really fucking scary when people are being primed by propaganda to be on edge and hyperreactive to anyone who doesn't look like their idea of a Cis Woman.
and I'm not laying that at the feet of the people saying "hey uhhhh trans men are men and don't belong in women's bathrooms" bc it is not their fault. it's the fault of a concerted effort to make it difficult and dangerous to be trans or substantively gender nonconforming in public.
but at the same time idk I guess it just worries me cause sometimes it feels like "you fools! you are worried about this group of trans people bc you think they're the Lurking Danger of Men In Bathrooms? WRONG! the Men Making You Feel Afraid In Bathrooms are actually THESE trans people!" when in fact neither of those groups using the fucking bathroom is a problem. just piss and mind your business. people need to go where they need to go.
anyway this country is a hot fucking trash fire that somehow accelerates its descent into open fascism more every day so it's all super good and normal. so don't take this too seriously tbh cause it's somewhere near #2535654476457899009765 on the list of priorities for Queer Discourse right now when the fucking human rights commission is actively rescinding protections from trans people. Please ignore my gibberish.
#red said#i get that the point is to follow their logic to its logical conclusion like SEE THE EFFECT IS THE OPPOSITE OF YOUR STATED INTENTIONS#but a) the lawmakers already know this tbf#and also b) ultimately you still do end up making a lot of tweets that look very very very like the original scaremongering abt trans ppl#and transphobes and ppl who are unfamiliar with trans stuff alike have repeatedly and consistently demonstrated either an unwillingness#or an inability. to understand the difference btw a trans man and a trans woman.#and meanwhile idk it does feel like most posts like this are tacitly reinforcing the idea that you SHOULD be scared of masc-presenting ppl#it's putting so much emphasis on clockability. and the truth is not everyone using the bathroom does or should have to pass perfectly.#if a trans woman who looks like one of these trans men needs to piss. a woman with stubble and short hair and muscly shoulders.#SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO PISS IN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM. even if she doesn't look like a cis woman.#if a trans dude looks like a girl he still doesn't belong in the ladies unless he personally feels the need to go there for his safety#if someone is not actively bothering you harassing you or treating you with aggression it's not really any of your business is it#maybe that's a trans man. maybe that's a trans woman. maybe that's a woman or dyke on T. maybe that's a cis woman who just looks masculine.#who gives a shit? a key factor in ladies bathrooms is that they have fucking cubicles. unless someone is making it your business it's not.#and if they are then the problem isn't that they're the Wrong Sex/Gender it's that they're behaving badly/disrespectfully/threateningly#which is also a problem when cis women do it!!!!!
