Team pet is a fantastic prompt oh my god, you just know Lev walks into practice one day with a stray cat in his arms and it never leaves. At first Yaku's against it ("Why would you bring that inside, it could have rabies!") but all it takes is it rubbing against his leg and purring for Yaku to be converted into a full-blown cat mom. From then on he's the one bringing toys and treats and baby talking. Kuroo makes fun of him all the time and Yaku denies it but he doesn't stop.

Kuroo's canonically a dog person but he doesn't mind the cat, I think he's the type to talk to it like its a human and have (one-sided) conversations. When the team points this out he's like "Well at least he listens to me, unlike the rest of you". He also likes to ruffle the fur on it's head, reminds him of Kenma.

Kai brings a little bed for the cat and is the one to clear out a corner of the club room for it's stuff. If Yaku is the cat mom Kai is the cat dad. Everyone's always adding stuff to the cat nook, he's a spoiled little guy

Tora tries to teach the cat tricks as if it's a dog. He's really bad at it, he just commands it to do stuff as if yelling louder will make it suddenly understand english. Kenma tries to tell him to quit it but Fukunaga stops him— "I want to see where this goes." It ends with Tora rolling around on the floor like a moron while the cat just sits there watching. Who's training who? It's a mystery.

Inuoka chases the cat around, he's always the one to get it rilled up. He's been scratched the most times (along with Lev) but he hasn't given up hope, THEY WILL BE BEST FRIENDS. The cat can sense that he's the dog of the team

Teshiro's often found mid-staring competition with the cat, not intentionally they just get locked into it. They have a silent respect for each other

Despite being the one to bring it in the first place the cat has a love-hate relationship with Lev. He's not exactly delicate and always ends up scaring it or petting too hard. When school closes for holidays he's the one to take it home

According to promotional art cats love Fukunaga, and this is no expection. He brings laser pointers to play with before practice, his favorite thing to do it point it at Tora while his back is turned and watch the chaos ensue. The laser pointer also works on Inuoka.

Kenma and the cat take naps together, it's often found curled up on his lap or stomach during breaks. Very cute, the team has taken a lot of pictures

Petting the cat is Shibayama's stress relief after practice matches, especially once the 3rd years graduate and he's the main libero. He does this before games to get in the right headspace too, it's become a routine.

The cat is basically team mascot and it's in all their group photos. Their not allowed to bring it on the bus but whenever another school comes for a practice match they're sure to show him off.

She's 23 and named Marianne, she was originally from Kalos, moved to Hoenn, beat the league, and then got sucked up into another dimension which is mine.

who are rowdy and vertigo and why do I love them already

(I want the long answer as to who they are)

well vertigo is a sort of persona i've had for a while that's just kinda existed off to the side, but now they're also sorta their own character with his own story which im planning to one day tell through a sideblog. the story is in VERY early stages, but i can confidently say that rowdy is the antagonist of the story.

as you can likely tell, vertigo is not in any way a regular human. all i can really say to that is that he was born out of one universe's matter. he also has these special powers, the big ones being that he can travel between universes and create and enter (along w his friends) into these sorta dream-worlds where they go on adventures. he's also perpetually tired. and trans! he can technically take the form of any creature he wants - not in a shapeshifter way though, he can't change form willy-nilly all the time - his first design when i first made him was more like a girl but later on i changed him to be a guy, and i decided i'd incorporate that into the canon. he didn't grow up biologically like a regular human but he learned about the world in much the same way. they also have friends across multiple universes, but their story just takes place in one - the one with rowdy in it.

like i said, rowdy's the antagonist in vertigo's story. i dont want to go into too much detail about his backstory and his motivations now, but basically he wants vertigo's powers for himself. if you notice the necklace he wears, that's not his. that is to say, it doesn't belong to him. because it's vertigo's. you may have also noticed that it has only three points. there are five points in total, the remaining two are seen as vertigo's tail fins. the five pieces of the necklace are where vertigo's powers are centralized. take all five, and all of their powers are yours. this probably greatly detriments vertigo's health in some way (i havent figured out all the details yet). but, only one piece can be claimed at a time, and it's a pretty energy-consuming magical process. often painful too. but pretty much vertigo and rowdy's interactions are a cycle: rowdy finds vertigo, he gets close enough to them to take their power, he tries, vertigo fights back and gets away leaving rowdy with a purple scar wherever he was hurt and his right hand turns even more purple from the failed power-stealing process.

and yknow what makes any confrontation with rowdy so much worse? he's a JERK. he is SO annoying. and he has no idea what personal space is. or when to stop talking. or how to read a room. practically the exact opposite of tired, lax vertigo. also i've decided rowdy has jim carrey mannerisms. and he's very obviously homosexual. basically i want that twink obliterated but also i think he and vertigo should fuck on the floor. which they totally will probably do at one point im just saying. off-camera though, im not about to write smut. i hope that's not too adult of me to say lol

okay so like this is going to be EXTREMELY long but its not hostile at all (and i'm the guy who did those tags, that was my main blog and this is my dangan sideblog) im just saying Why i left those tags and What i think of v3

and im saying all this because i like v3, i really do! i just wish it was better!

im gonna touch on the localization stuff first: they changed some of kokichi's lines that sort of, removed his more "soft" moments (for lack of a better word) and gave him depth?

like, there was this one time in one of the trials where kaito calls him naive, and ouma just insults him back and laughs at him or whatever

but in the original, kaito called him iirc "pure?" and ouma says something along the lines of "no one's ever referred to me like that before..." with the implication being he's more stunned, possibly even touched, that someone referred to him with such an "innocent" term

but thats nothing compared to gonta. the localization and honestly the game itself did gonta so goddamn dirty. in the og, he doesnt have tarzan speak!! he spoke in the third person yeah, but so did a few other characters- it gives a sort of, childish connotation in japanese, but the tarzan speak thing in the eng localization completely undermines his character and makes him look way dumber than he actually is, making him seem like he has little to no agency in the story

did you know that gonta actually KNEW that ouma's plan was to get everyone to have a motive video viewing party? and that he was only mad at ouma for lying and saying that he liked bugs, and he was In On It wrt the motive video viewing party?

yeah you literally cant know this unless you go do gonta's free time event when they're in gonta's lab scheming together. why was this CRUCIAL bit of information for character motivations sequestered like this. why did they do that. why. there is so much goddamn discourse over wether or not ouma manipulated gonta and if this scene was like, a little easier to get to, i wouldnt have to get it beamed into my eyeballs so much that i put a fucking manifesto as my blog title and bio

it looks crazy but ive been driven crazy. ive been here since 2016, since before this blog existed. i predate v3. help me

anyway thats JUST the localization issues and that one scene being hard to access. but i'll get on with the rest of it

and i just want to say: in a vaccum, v3 is quite good! it's not a godawful game, the characters are entertaining, it definitely has a good skeleton

but like, to see exactly why i think this game is not up to par- play v3 and sdr2 in tandem. spend one night on v3, one night on sdr2, the next on v3, or switch every few hours, however it appeals to you. but play them side-by-side

You Will Notice. Some Things.

FOR ONE: the days in sdr2 are just... longer. there's more stuff in them, more story. there's a lot that's missing from v3 and as such it feels empty

no one mourns the dead. shuichi mourns kaede but that's it for the whole game, until chapter 6 where he says that it's been horrible watching his friends die every week

in sdr2, here's how it worked in a story structure sense: the investigation itself was for mourning the victim, the trial was the Fun Part where nobody is mourned, really, and the focus is on finding the blackened, and the post-trial epilogue and is when we mourned the blackened

in v3.... the victims..... aren't mourned.

at all.

the blackends are, at the end of the trials, but only at the end of the trials.

in sdr2, hiyoko makes a memorial for mahiru using her photos. soda and nakomaru tie komaeda up because he manipulated teruteru into killing. byakuya was like, the main character of chapter 1 and had a prominent role before he was killed, meaning we saw a lot of him and ergo got close to him and mourned him. hajime was disturbed seeing his body. fuyuhiko talks about peko and how much he misses her. hajime mourns, he talks about the dead....

all of that is missing in v3

they're dead, and then they're gone.

rantaro as the first dead was a character with a lot of potential (WE WILL GET TO RANTARO.) but he didn't really have a prominent role at all. he was just another face in the crowd, until he wasn't. the only reason you'd mourn his death is if he was your favorite- byakuya in sdr2 was not my favorite (fuyuhiko my beloved and komaeda my beloved) but i still felt something when he died simply because of how prominent he was!

kaede as the protagonist, yeah her death had weight

we didnt get to know ryoma at all, or kirumi. or tenko or angie. et cetera

SPEAKING OF THE CHARACTERS.

so, broadly, there are two categories a character can fall in: active and reactive characters

active characters act on their own, without outside stimuli. reactive characters will just do nothing but go about their daily lives until something spurs them into action

all of sdr2's characters are on some level active.

most of v3's characters are reactive. you do not want this in a mystery game.

in sdr2, everyone was talking about escaping, all the time. in v3 they all give up after the first chapter

in sdr2, everyone tried to stay united no matter what happened because they all understood that this was an extreme circumstance, and that the real enemy was monokuma. fucking- fuyuhiko committed a proxy murder, basically, and he was still welcome in the group! because they understood that he was under extreme emotion and that not only his talent played a part in his reaction, but they were all trapped and cornered and being psychologically tormented and that thats why he did what he did! like, there was tension at first.... and fuyuhiko attempted seppuku.... but he was accepted and at least hajime did try, even if hiyoko was still angry at him

in v3 monokuma just straight up joins in the fifth trial and the characters just Let Him? he's supposed to be their enemy!

in sdr2, every character had a purpose. some of those purposes were pretty weak, yeah, but they were like... there. teruteru as the Funny Pervert got old fast, and that's probably why he died really early on, and they did manage to give him like, actual pathos. akane as the Funny Comic Relief Food One got oldddd but she's kind of the weakest out of the characters that survive. soda also, but at least he did stuff like make the transmitter in chapter 3 or fix the elevator in chapter 4, so he wasn't just the Funny Simp One, he did stuff

like, let me ask this: from a story perspective, i.e. their impact on how the plot moved forward, disregarding trials because everyone speaks in those....

what did himiko do. or tenko. tenko straight up didnt do ANYTHING for the greater plot. what did kirumi do? or ryoma? did we really feel the betrayal of tsumugi being the mastermind? we didn't know her!! what did angie do outside of chapter 3, and even then, the student council thing is over before it starts (because v3 days have less ssssssssstuff in them) korekiyo is just There until he reveals that he's fucking his sister and then dies.

none of these motherfuckers are active characters. no one is trying to escape, everyone is playing along. shuichi isn't even very active and he's our PROTAGONIST! he just kind of.... takes it

and that wouldve been interesting, to see someone who just takes it up the ass slowly blossom into being more confident, not letting monokuma railroad him in trials PERCHANCE. and i know shuichi did do that, he got more confident, but he still doesn't even TRY to escape, he's never suspicious of the flashback lights, always assumes ouma's malice is the real thing and everything else is the lie (when really, it was the other way goddamn round)

and like. he's the ULTIMATE DETECTIVE! HE SHOULD BE DOING THIS SHIT!!

the only truly active characters, that actually act on their own and Do Stuff that impacts the plot outside of dying and killing someone...

are kokichi and rantaro.

and rantaro dies in chapter one.

this is, in clinical terms, not good.

chapters 4 and 5 are REALLY good, because ouma does shit and actually impacts the plot and it makes the other characters also be active for once

but the whole rest of the game is like, ouma is doing everything to try and figure everything out, and everyone else is just kind of going thru the motions and treating him with komaeda level ostricization when, at that point in the game, he'd done nothing to warrant it

and at the end of chapter 4, when gonta says that he doesn't want anyone to be mad at kokichi and wants everyone to get along, the whole cast writes him off as a naive idiot and completely disregards his final wishes, which makes sense narratively, but not even shuichi, the ultimate. detective. stops and thinks that maybe something is a bit wrong here

rantaro is just a whole ball of wasted potential sorry. he was the second most interesting character in the game, puzzling things out on his own and doing his best to survive. he was cool and mysterious and smart and he's the first to die and i dont CARE if monokuma ~lampshaded~ it later and was mad at tsumugi for killing him so early, it just means that they KNEW it was a shit idea and then did it anyway!

like. i really like rantaro's secrets being unveiled posthumously. but he shouldve at least died in chapter two, so we got some more time with him. or at least was extremely prominent in chapter one, like byakuya was. but neither happened and what we ended up with was the one active character trying to escape getting fucking shot putted before he has the chance to do literally anything

and maybe it wouldve worked if everyone wasnt so egregiously reactive? the trick with kaede was cool but the game was so focused on that that they forgot to mourn rantaro or like give the audience enough time with him to care when he died. and maybe the "died first, important later" thing COULD have worked if he wasnt one of two active characters!!!!

(most of them are active in chapter 5 ill give them that. but like.... just 5)

and after all this.... the ending. the idea of the ending is kind of good. but the same people that made the ending made the rest of the fucking game and that does not bode well

the ending is.... how do i put this..... imagine a 26 year old that still proudly identifies as an "antishipper." imagine the extremely myopic view this person would have on the relationship between fiction and reality

now imagine this person was in charge of writing a game.

that's what the ending is like.

in the game, the narrative is that "danganronpa" was a video game that got so popular that it turned into an irl reality show, which is the exact kind of myopic "WELL, YOU LIKE THE BAD THING IN FICTION, SO YOU'D CHEER FOR IT IRL, RIGHT? RIGHT??? ITS TOTALLY THE SAME THING!!!" view your bog standard antishipper would have. it's just not very good, imo

in sdr2, they pulled off the "its all fake~!" thing a LOT better, the two endings are strikingly similar and yeah just play them in tandem and you might see what im talking about, because i loved v3 (still do!) but when i played it and sdr2 in tandem i realized ah..... sdr2 is way better in quality....

i like the ambiguous ending in v3, it ties to the "truth and lies" thing nicely, but its like.... again, the same people that wrote that wrote the rest of the game

and there are some hints that it's televised in some way (the characters refer to the blood as "red," monokuma refers to it as "pink," i.e. the pink blood is a tv censor and the characters are seeing the true red) but not really anything else

and it feels less like a "keeping things ambiguous" thing and more like a "they forgot to put details in their game" thing

which i wouldnt think if it were not for the fact that sdr2 is extremely detailed (they remember mealtimes and remember to write in hajime's narration that everyone is eating, which pays off WELL in chapter 4 with the funhouse) and v3 forgot that their characters have to do stuff

also the Things in the v3 chapters just dont have as much weight to them like in sdr2? everyone was talking abt twilight syndrome murder case, the despair disease split everyone up (and soda got to use his talent by making that transmitter) (THATS ANOTHER THING no one in v3 uses their talents for the most part or acknowledges others' talents), the funhouse was a multi-day ordeal, and everyone was involved in chapter 5's Stopping The Rival and the leadup to the now-standard Chapter Five Extremely Cruel And Unusual Rival Death

the magic show in v3's second chapter was kind of being prepped in the background and shuichi had nothing to do with it, and its only purpose was a distraction. the motive videos were kind of there and only useful for the insect meet and greet and then the trial itself. the student council in chapter 3 wasn't around for long and didn't do anything, we only spent a day in chapter 4's virtural world as opposed to the three in sdr2, chapter 5 was good tho chapter 5 can stay. kaito being missing and shuichi being despondent over the secret of the outside world was good and had weight bc we spent a good chunk of chapter 4 hanging out w kaito and seeing him be cute and stuff. we were invested and now he's gone!

and also smaller details like blackends in sdr2 being suspicious before/during the trials, there were actual clues that something was wrong (teruteru lying about the meat skewers, peko being wet, mikan being hot when laying on hajime (i.e. feverish,) we SAW gundham in the room with the alarm clock; there were enough clues to put it together before it was revealed in the trial

i love v3 and i'm so upset about it because i love v3 and i love danganronpa- i sunk a lot of time into this game and the ending seemed spiteful that i even like the game. it was seemingly a critique on fan culture but written by someone with the most condescending, myopic lens on what fan culture actually is

v3's commentary on fan culture was written by the same person who wrote hifumi yamada as the ultimate fanfic writer and it shows

—pollux would keep being a vigilante. mostly out of personal choice, but no doubt ortega would keep trying to get him to be official. but, the ranger system is too restrictive, he would never join the guardians and he would rather die than become a corporate hero (yuck!) I don’t think he could reasonably end sponsored either, considering his flippant disregard for rules and behavior fitting that of a “hero” he’s too….grey area/wild card to ever be shaped/coached into that sort of position. he still works closely with the rangers however.

—extremely tangilental, but Pollux as Marshal of the Rangers is a fun thought and one that would go about as well as a dumpster fire. Pollux could handle the leadership aspects of it well—working as a team and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of others to have them all work together. He’s the sort of leader where he has high expectations because it’s required to work as a team, not because he needs to have his ego stroked. Sadly he’s got none of the correct kind of charisma like ortega, chen or hood have in public relations. and he doesn’t like office work either. although the marshal of the rangers being a five foot little nothing asshole is deeply endearing to me.

—at some point he would get the courage to pony up and talk about being a regene with ortega and get it through their “very thick skull” what exactly that means/what he went through/what it means for the inevitable of him being discovered. There’s a lot of contingencies put in place and maybe Pollux would end up trusting ortega to go poking their nose in things without getting blown up. That’s a big Maybe though. All of that is very need to know and a lot of people don’t need to know.

—Maybe take down the Farm—I dunno weird explosions and fires out in the middle of Nevada that’s really odd huh? oh wow genitech is failing entirely look at that wow all the higher ups and scientists died mysterious and their research was all “lost” wow that’s Weird Huh? Oh a bunch of government officials died too Wrow.

—messy ortega relationship in a completely different way than it is now LOL a very much dance around the feelings with the added complication of a sexual relationship to boot. It’s…very intense with a lot of unspoken stuff going on. Like secret crush but fwb but one of them has definitely said they are in love but the other one hasn’t said it yet but it’s FELT and yeah. basically lovers but in bff sorta way. There’s loads of tabloid/rumor mill stuff going on since neither of them will ever talk about their relationship with each other beside “we’re friends <3” and pollux’s added bit: “if you think otherwise im gonna rearrange your guts <3”

—ends up becoming good friends with Chen, funny enough. They come around as they both get older and Pollux gets less a stick up his ass about how chen treated him lol

—he gets several different suit upgrades over the years, eventually moving up to a very light style of armor (lighter than his current villain suit). A sort of sports model with little jump jets but one that allows him more flexibility in hand to hand. It helps fuel the image that he’s modded and not boosted, a rumor he actually likes. He keeps the color scheme over the years and the design remains practical, but keeps up with his needs and the design trends, much to his chargin at time. It’s all very durable as Pollux is really rough on his gear. His favorite of the gear was when he was making the transition to more armor and he had a bit more of a streetwear/techwear look to the suit and coat. Durable structured jacket with built in hood and hidden pockets + exposed armored forearms + legs. Longer coat in the back—almost like a cape. Armored mast with LED display in the front under glass. More classic modern Nike running shoes sort of vibe—narrow legs. A more top heavy silhouette—big androgynous vibes. (Now I’m getting villain armor designs in my Imagine That). Maybe perhaps it ends up just a bit heavier on the white to almost compliment the Ranger’s color palette. Again much to his chargin.

—maybe, and BIG MAYBE, pollux tracks down where aleksi and quyen are. If they’re still alive, what has happened to them, etc. that’s a complicated chapter of his life and pollux has a lot of regret tainted memories of the two of them.

—he ends up retiring in Los Diablos in a very nice row house. Some architect from San Fran thought the row house style was cool enough to bring to Los Diablos. He actually splits his time between there and the Ranch.

over on the horny sideblog (well. the hornier sideblog) i reblogged a rare edizzy piece (and uh, warning/disclaimer abt that art and fic here) and now i am thinking abt what The Canon Edizzy Dynamic is. to me. BIG warning for mentions of dubcon/noncon

general stuff abt ed and izzy's relationship that i think is pretty strongly supported by canon:

izzy did not meet ed until blackbeard was already well established. more on that take here.

at the beginning of the show izzy is like the only person ed has regular conversations with. izzy takes advantage of this and will stretch the truth sometimes when giving ed reports.

during the kraken era ed's isolation from the crew gets even worse. izzy is practically ed's sole source of any sort of human interaction that isn't violence.

ed and izzy were never physically or emotionally intimate. izzy thinks he understood ed and they had some unspoken deep bond (more on that take here) but in 2.01 he realizes that ed is not nearly as invested in their relationship as he is, and in 2.03 he realizes that what he felt for ed is not even close to what stede feels for ed.

some more headcanon-y (but still supported by canon) stuff about their pre-canon dynamic:

ed chose izzy to be first mate firstly bc he knew izzy did not have what it takes to be a captain. izzy's not charismatic enough to lead ppl and nobody's gonna follow izzy in a mutiny against THEE blackbeard. izzy also does not know enough about sailing to be able to make decisions about navigation and whatnot.

the other big reason ed made izzy his first mate is bc ed is very familiar w guys like izzy and he knows how to deal with them. mean older white guy with very specific ideas about what it means to be a man?? ed was rasied by a guy like that. ed's first captain was a guy like that. ed can handle izzy just fine. and if izzy is a bit of a dick and is constantly being an ass to him, well, ed's used to that too. he can take it.

ed being isolated from his own crew is not something izzy masterminded on his own to keep ed under his control so much as it's something ed gradually started doing out of very reasonable distrust of other pirates and not wanting to be seen as vulnerable. if the crew sees him laughing and hanging out they're gonna realize that the legendary blackbeard is just a normal ass guy and anyone can easily build a name for themselves as The Guy Who Killed Blackbeard. also ed isolates due to depression.

like i said before tho, izzy definitely takes advantage of the situation. ed relies on him for info and izzy does not always present info truthfully.

when ed does talk to other ppl in his crew it is not a casual friendly conversation, it's ed talking to an employee. the only time ed gets to actually have a conversation w someone who doesnt work for him is when he runs into jack or any other pirate friends he might have from before he became blackbeard. this doesnt happen often.

so ed is kinda starved for just like. a friend. and izzy is the only person he talks to. but izzy always maintains this air of like, "i am a loyal first mate doing my duty to my captain" whenever they're talking even if ed's just trying to have a drink and relax with him. it gets exhausting for ed.

the only time izzy isn't talking to ed like that is when izzy is bitching about something. this is just pure headcanon time but i think sometimes ed would intentionally wind izzy up just to get him to drop the "yes sir blackbeard" shtick for a minute.

what im saying is that for years ed's main options for socializing were people falling over themselves to obey him, his first mate talking to him like a robot, or his first mate calling him an insane and unpleasant twat who would be dead a million times over if it weren't for him.

now here's what i think is going on with izzy, disclaimer that this is pretty firmly just headcanons bc canon does not rlly confirm a hwole lot abt this guy lol:

izzy is strictly attracted to men.

izzy has a very rigid mental framework regarding what he thinks being a man means. i personally don't care enough about izzy to come up with a rich backstory to explain this, to me it's just "ex british navy, became a pirate in his 30s," so his standards of masculinity are very much informed by ahistorical ofmd british society. that doesnt rlly matter at all tho, the only thing that's important is that izzy has some very weird ideas about what it means to be a man.

those ideas are basically just glorifying power and thinking the best expression of power is through violence. also rejection of things that are feminine, soft, or emotional. rejection of vulnerability, and also rejection of open expressions of sexuality.

like, yknow how some ppl's idea of masculinity includes having a lot of sex with women? well bc izzy's gay that doesnt work for him. he is ashamed of his desire for men so his idea of idealized masculinity does not include openly expressing attraction. the calico jack style of openly bragging abt his sexual exploits does not apply to izzy.

izzy's repressed attraction to men and his belief of power and violence as the true measure of manhood have combined in his brain. the thinks men expressing brutal violence is hot. he's attracted to power.

like mostly i think izzy gets horny for being overpowered by a stronger man. it's like, he's not supposed to want to have sex with men, but if a stronger and more powerful man forces himself on izzy then it's not izzy's fault.

essentially: izzy wants ed to violently top him.

also tho i DO think that izzy can top. i think he'd top if some tougher guy was like, telling him to do it (altho that would also shatter his concept of how sex works bc izzy's very top=dom and sub=bottom). i do think izzy also would be turned on by being the more "powerful" one during sex, especially if he thinks he's overpowering a man who should be overpowering him.

subconsciously desires approval from izzy bc izzy reminds him of his dad. this is not something i think ed ever realizes about himself in canon but there's a LOT to play with there in fics.

ed would only top izzy if he was in a deeply unhealthy headspace leading up to it. topping izzy the way izzy wants to be topped would reinforce ed's belief that he's a monster and would essentially be a form of emotional self-harm for ed.

so like the way i see it. canon dynamic edizzy smut is either izzy topping from the bottom and trying to incite ed to do horny violence towards him and ed hating every second of it, or it's izzy taking advantage of ed and ed seeking izzy's approval. either way tho ed is having a Very Bad Time

naoya. like 10000% naoya is your toxic match-up. as soon as i read that you hate your partner acting superior it hit me bc that's exactly what he does. you might want to try and fix him, but he doesn't want any part of that. as soon as you meet him, he's undermining you, and you take that as a personal challenge + do what you can to spite him/ prove him wrong. and it kind of works.... except he doesn't really care, he'll just pick something else to critique you about and it'll fuel you once more. the cycle repeats. he just finds it much too easy to get under your skin. eventually, i think the pettiness/ rivalry will fizzle out so you're both on decent speaking terms, but the fact that you get attached too easily isn't great bc he keeps people at a distance. he's not gonna be staying up and telling you his secrets + insecurities, he keeps that all to himself. you probably try to make him speak about it, but he's v stubborn + unwilling, and i think it'd either get too much for you + you'll get insecure/ think he doesn't want anything real with you bc he wont delve into his emotions properly, or you'll like pity him/ try to fix him + that'll make him angry bc he doesn't want/ think he needs your help. go for someone like nanami instead <3

But there were new lines now that we were in danger of crossing. Any actions that we took to go after Bucky wouldn’t be sanctioned by General Ross, by the UN; everyone would be watching us way more closely now.

Steve was tracking down what he could on recon when it came to Bucky; Sharon had promised to feed back what she could without suspicion and while keeping her head above water with the investigation. The image of Bucky was everywhere - a collar pulled up around his neck, a black cap fitted over his head, but he looked directly at the camera.

“I don’t like this,” I said quietly, glancing up at the building. Sam was stationed on the roof, and I was keeping to the alleyway of the building, waiting on a rented motorcycle that Steve and I had driven over on. Steve looked at the cowl in his hands. We didn’t have the time to contemplate, but I couldn’t shake the feeling in my gut. “Stay out here, keep to the comms, fall back unless I tell you,” he repeated. I pursed my lips and give him a tight nod, averting my eyes to the street. Steve cupped my chin, forcing me to look at him. “It’s safest this way,” He reminded me gently. “I know,” I mumbled, “Just... Go, and be careful.” Steve pressed a kiss to my forehead before he fitted his cowl on, buckling it and heading inside. I watched the door shut behind him before I looked up to the roof at where Sam was peering down at us. I gave him a wave, signalling that Steve had gone inside. “... I’ve got German special forces approaching from the South,” Sam warned. I grimaced, leg shaking impatiently. “Come on, Steve,” I mumbled, waiting for him to open the comm, to give the all clear to come up, something. I didn’t get that. What I got instead was the sound of gunfire, yelling. I kept my eyes on the sky, waiting for a signal from Sam or a call from Steve. What I did see was Bucky jump from one roof to another, then another  person jump after him. I brought my hand up to my ear. “Sam, what the hell is that?” “It looks like a cat man!” Sam yelled back. “A fuckin’ what?” I asked, unable to help a delirious laugh. “They’re heading for the sidewalk,” Sam warned in place of another answer, “Southwest corner!” I started my bike up, pulling my helmet on and pulling the visor down as I sped in the direction Sam mentioned. I could see them - there was Bucky, Steve, and another figure running at an unreal speed. “They’re heading for the underpass,” I groaned, picking up speed. I wasn’t sure what was worse at this point - Bucky jumping carelessly into oncoming traffic, the unidentified CatMan chasing him, or the fact that we still had German Special Forces on our tail. Even in my time in the 40s, even the recon mission in Roessel hadn’t presented me with so many opportunities to die on the spot. German Special Forces had largely paid me no mind, and I used that to my advantage, focusing my energy on defensive driving, diverting other vehicles from the chase, offering Steve and Sam space and cover where I could. I managed to follow Steve’s order, hanging back until Sam flicked the CatMan toward a detonation and fell back onto my bike to keep the both of us from getting caught under the fall of rubble that Bucky had set off. I would’ve taken a harder fall if it hadn’t been for Sam’s wings. I pushed off of the ground, hurrying out of the artificial light with Sam and spotting Steve and Bucky where they’d finally come to a stop with War Machine. “Stand down,” Rhodey warned from behind the visor. Sam and I brought our hands up, crowding closer to the others as German Special Forces closed us in. Bucky and Steve turned their heads to see who else he could possibly be addressing; I saw recognition wash over Bucky’s face in a quick, painful wave before he turned back to the matter at hand.

I would’ve moved closer, but there was Sam’s hand on my shoulder, carefully anchoring me in place to stop me from doing something stupid, like breaking into a run when there were god knows how many guns pointed at us. Part of me didn’t care. Bucky was here, he was in one piece, he saw me and he knew exactly who I was. But I also wasn’t the only one in the line of fire, and one stupid word or step out of line could spell even worse consequences for all of us. I cast Sam a pleading look despite this, and he gave me a small shake of his head. I kept carefully quiet as I watched soldiers shove Bucky to the ground and cuff him. Across from them, CatMan retracted his claws, reached up, and pulled off his helmet. My eyes widened at the sight of Prince T‘Challa. It took everything in me not to fight the cuffs being put on me, not to argue as I was strong-armed toward a vehicle with Sam and Steve and Prince T’Challa. “Shouldn’t he be getting a limo?” Sam muttered as we were nudged into a van. I shot him a look, fighting the smile that pulled at my lips. We were fucked, and we knew it. The Accords had been signed, we were way out of jurisdiction; we had gone essentially gone rogue. The ride was fairly quiet. Until, “So, you like cats?”

Storyline

Hwang Hyunjin, better known as Sam to his college classmates, was on track to graduate with high marks and honors. When a friend leaves a party with the girlfriend of a fraternity president, the latter mistakenly assumes Hyunjin is the guy and storms over to Hyunjin’s dorm room. In the scuffle, the fourth year student is shoved too hard and hits his head, dying from the impact. The school was quick to sell the land that the dorm was built on for new housing developments, eager to put the tragedy behind them. But Hyunjin discovered that he couldn’t move on from this site and sought to communicate with someone, anyone, who would listen to him.

Former Classmate: You shared a class or two with the young man (high school or university) and heard about his passing. Maybe you remembered him, maybe you talked to him when he was alive, but the news was shocking as you never dreamed someone you saw in class would die so young. While trying to focus on the new year, you can’t ignore the stories about the unfortunate death and discover that your former classmate might not be gone after all...

New tenant in the housing development: The university struck a deal with an outside development company to buy the land for whatever purposes they wanted. Turns out the company saw promise in revamping the building, turning it into a modern complex of townhouses/condominiums for tenants to own. With fresh coats of paint, slightly adjusted layouts, and competitive pricing to match rival buildings in the area, the company was blissfully unaware of their long-term tenant who came with the sale of the building. You were buying your first place and were in for a rude awakening when you learned you weren’t alone in the new townhouse/condominium.

Paranormal sensitive person: Student dies in dorm building! Newspapers, social media, and the local news channel covered the tragic accident for weeks. Eventually the focus on the trial of the accused took over the feeds, but if you search a little deeper on the Internet, one might find whispers and rumors about the student still hanging around the condemned building. You’ve always been drawn to the paranormal for some reason and were curious to find out if the rumors were true or smoke and mirrors.

why did you choose your url?

well i grew up on the internet in the early 2010s so i was obsessed with starkid which lead to musical theater in general which lead to dear evan hansen which lead to will roland which lead to be more chill which lead to joe iconis and that hasn’t lead anywhere else because i’m so far up this man’s ass he could tell me to jump and i’d give him 5 million dollars for a bloodsong of love revival. anyway. funny enough it was because i was so up will roland’s ass that i gave joe iconis’ music outside of bmc a chance (back when he tweeted out a thread of joe iconis songs the night before the tonys). and he was right. he has taste even if all i see from him nowadays is globe twitter. anyway. never heard nothing (along with the bar song, try again, and last on land) is the quintessential joe iconis song in my humble opinion. but also my opinion is backed up by joe so. i’ll just let him say it.
