Back against a tree as his lighter flicked to life, Kaz took a moment to simply breathe now that the din of the party was behind him. Watching the smoke curl up into the tree's branches before disappearing beyond the leaves, it took a moment for him to register the steps coming towards him. Very familar steps that he'd become accustomed to over time.

A grin was on his face even before he'd turned to face the breeder, his cigarette being snuffed out beneath his shoe (note to self: pick that up so Ibuki doesn't get pissy at him again) as he drew in close to Gundham, oh so near, but still not touching quite yet. "Heya babe, Sonia drag you here again?" He wasn't trying to tease, the mechanic simply friendly by nature, but it was hard to ignore just how his body languge changed when Gundham was in his company with idle hands coming up to fiddle with the man's scarf.

#deep in the denouement of my nine millionth listen of the monstrous regiment audiobook and it's still the only book ever #maybe its cause im hearing a new voice/version but the duchess/wazzer scene was SCARY i got fr chills. ty jen from the it crowd #and pollllyyyyyyy polllyyyyy my friend polly. i forgot she decked strappi at the end #monstrous regiment #discworld #the vimes voice is growing on me though hes such a bastard in this book. more so than normal #hes like......my fave vimes moment (or one of) is the feet of clay fakeout where he pretends the plot to break his sobriety works #and hes pretending to be passed out and then gets up and breaks rusts nose and downs a packet of what looks like arsenic and goes #MMMMMM DELICIOUS. YAY. that's my fave moment and hes giving elevated That energy in this book

don't mind me just dethorning the bramble in my stick insects' cage because a CERTAIN beautiful old lady

managed to snag her wing on one and got stuck there until I saw and detangled her and I am not eager to repeat the experience!!

ALSO I finally managed to get a picture of the whole family as it is now :DDD

1 adult Indian stick insect, 1 adult Pink Winged stick insect and three Pink Winged stick insect nymphs at various stages of development

(I also have an Indian stick insect nymph but she lives in a separate enclosure at the moment and is so tiny getting her out would be way to stressful for both her and me)

#ik what you're thinking 'theyre just lines' EXACTLY #keeping baby stick insects is way too stressful man I'm constantly terrified one's escaped and I haven't noticed #thank god they seem to be growing quickly the biggest one's only a month old #and is way more chill than she was #mine #I love my adult pink wing so much she's literally ancient she's outlived her sister by like 3 months #her wings aren't meant to look like that but it's also not all from the accident #she's always had trouble foldng them properly and it's got more pronounced as she's got older #that's why it happened the thin papery part of her wing that concertinas out for flying isn't tucked away safe against her body #not that she flies those days are long gone although she was never particularly enthusiastic about it #hence why she's probably lived so long #live fast die young and all that #I love her sm #a miracle I actually managed to get them all in one photo #last time I attempted it I finally managed to get the babies settled down in one place in a little group #then put old lady down #and she literally ploughed straight through the middle of them #littlest one went flying #another just climbed up her leg and clung to it #ma'am they are your children or your nieces #they literally do not perceive each other as sentient beings I swear it's hilarious #sorry for the background it's the only surface they'd settle on #there's a tag for it isn't there #trypophobia #trypophobia tw #fr though it was so horrid finding her all tangled up #and she did not take kindly to me trying to help her #but she ok now 😊

i’ve realized i have a favorite communication dynamic in my ships

characters talk about their feelings and communicate effectively from day one- 👎👎👎👎 boring bad nothing of substance here. also 99% chance they would not fucking say that

characters never talk about anything and when the miscommunication comes to a head it gets moved on from without proper resolution- 👎👎👎👎 also bad where’s my growth. where’s my closure. continuity please

characters try to talk it out and are bad at it- ok we’re getting somewhere. this is a start

character A does Not want to have the feelings conversation but also knows that if the conversation is not had it will probably end up killing one of them eventually. character B would actually rather risk death than have the conversation but A has given them no choice- PEAK. NO NOTES. GROWTH SUCKS TO DO AND IS UNCOMFORTABLE BUT WE DO IT ANYWAYS. FUCK YEAH

#marzi speaks #i need that shit to feel like pulling TEETH #i need ‘look i get that we’d both rather rot than discuss this but we actually need to if we want to have anything good here’#i need it to be messy and uncomfortable and scary. i need it to feel like picking gravel from a wound. like the sting of antiseptic #when people with poor communication miscommunicate i need them to do damage to each other #like barbed wire #and i need the initial communication to feel like removing those barbs from the skin #it sucks. and you may have to cause more damage before it can heal. but this is necessary for the healing #it’s so GOOD. i LOVE IT.#because in real life that’s usually how it goes!!! we fuck up and then we have to talk about how we fucked up #and NOBODY likes that but it’s an important part of it!!!! and i love when characters have to explore it #i love how it forces them to grow as people #i enjoy when one character is reluctant and one character is completely avoidant bc i am conflict avoidant myself lmao #and i work VERY hard not to be. bc even though it sucks i can still recognize that I Can’t Just Ignore It #and everyone loves going ‘they’re just like me fr’
