Note
to add to my most recent post about functions, how would you describe se and si because i get so tired of seeing ā€œsports and adrenaline!!ā€ ā€œmemory and nostalgia!!ā€ for them in descriptions šŸ˜šŸ™ and how would si-ne and fi-te interact as the aux and tert functions? i love your responses as always šŸ«¶šŸ«¶
YESS I literally hate sensor/intuitive descriptions with burning passion...especially that one ni description I read online šŸ˜...
I genuinely relate and understand more of functions through examples of them irl, so I sorted them this way if that is more helpful
se
very opportunistic: might see a sale at a store and jump on the offer (even do the math if high in ti). will also be quick to join in on tiktok, fashion, or internet trends and get easily excited and interested in them.
sees loopholes in rules/guidelines, finds ways around it
better at improvising situations: when cooking a recipe they will know what to do when missing an ingredient. will eyeball measurements they have to take. more likely to think of fun quick last minute plans if something goes wrong.
absurdism/stoicism: controlling what you can, embracing whatever happens, push and pull between finding meaning and being indifferent, makes meaning personal
mayyy be appearance focused (not always); jewelry, hair, makeup, FASHION...
si
can see distinctions easily: what someone sees as a forest, the si will see as spruces, pines, maples, etc. might also say, "__ is NOT the same as ___." is aware of grammar more quickly than others (not because they're focused on it, they do it with ease).
focused on mistakes: (might be forgiving if high in fe, but more like "forgive but don't forget.). BUT also remembers mistakes made by self as in hopes to not repeat them in the future. could also make them perfectionistic.
"oh, this reminds me of ___!!": gets excited when they learn a new word, and later see it used in a tiktok ;p
skeptical of things: doesn't trust ads they see immediately, does research on a product before buying, thinks critically about social media (and celebrity culture in general), doesn't trust if something is 'too good to be true'
focused on meaning: unlike se which is more indifferent, the istj is more likely to ask what the point of doing something before they do it. doesn't necessarily like things that are pointless (combined with unenjoyable). **DOESN't mean they don't have hobbies based on enjoyment, tbh most istj's find meaning through their own emotions as well

ATEEZ Mingi MBTI Analysis
- ESFP -
An in-depth analysis of an idol's MBTI type. Based on my opinion and observations, may change later. Not an expert.
Also happy birthday to this lovely man :)
Tumblr media
ESFP (Se - Fi - Te - Ni)
Dom: Se (Extroverted Sensing)
A perceiving function that uses our 5 senses to process the external world.
Snippet from his September Singles interview:
I debuted to show people my dance and vocals. But it is true that I hadnā€™t thought too deeply about how celebrities are expected to be more responsible and lead flawless lifestyles. Iā€™ve always wanted to live as free as a bird, so these expectations felt like a huge burden at one point. But now I think theyā€™re good for me. Having to live up to so many expectations means I have so much room for improvement at all times.
As Se is a present minded function, it seems like Mingi usually makes decisions on a whim - he didn't fully think about the problems of celebrity life as he was only focused on being a performer. He just jumped into it. Se can be prone to being impulsive as it's often a "just do it" mindset.
When writing songs, Mingi takes inspiration from his current surroundings. He talks about it in their little interview with Jonathan, how he gets inspired from what he sees on the streets.
Mingi, who explains his process of cataloguing his many thoughts to later draw from. ā€œI write down a lot of them as memos on my phone, so I always go back to them to see if they match what weā€™re going through (as a group); thatā€™s how I write my lyrics,ā€ he says. ā€œSometimes Iā€™ll think of it as writing a script, to really get into that persona." - i-D vice interview
Aux: Fi (Introverted Feeling)
A judging function that uses one's own values and belief to compare and make choices
Similar to Fi dom San, Mingi has a focus on being genuine as well. He wants a certain image for himself and puts in effort to build that image (fashion, the way he writes music). He only cares about his own perception of himself and wishes for others to have the mindset as well.
Mingi's always been a free spirit, but his longing for authentic self expression clashed with having to conform to idol standards. This likely caused an internal self conflict within Mingi. During his hiatus, he mentioned taking the time to have deep reflection on himself and wanting to be himself more, wanting to be better. High Fi users often want to work on expressing themselves authentically, wanting to be their most honest and best selves.
Tert: Te (Extroverted Thinking)
A judging function that uses established facts and systems to make objective, working decisions.
Mingi has stated he likes to gain new experiences as they can serve as some sort of life lesson. A bit of a mix of Se - Te statement though; Se likes experiences and he is able to put these lessons to use (Te).
Inf: Ni (Introverted Intuition)
A perceiving function that uses one's own personal insights and ideas
He seems to have some decent use of Ni - he has been planning his career and goals since he was a teenager and has successfully reached those goals. Still it is inferior as most of his choices have mainly been spontaneous. However, he's still glad of the way things turned out for him in the end.
I would also like to think Ni helped Mingi with his self reflection during his hiatus. Se doms can use their inferior Ni to search inside themselves to see what they truly want in life.
___
Why he's not an ENTP (Ne - Ti - Fe - Si)
I do not see Ne dominance in Mingi or any Ne usage in him in general. Comparing him to actual Ne users Yeosang (INTP) and Yunho (I'm currently unsure if he's an ENTP or ESFJ. That Ne - Fe is strong in him tho), even to inferior Ne types like Hwa (ISFJ) and Jongho (ISTJ)... I do not see it strong enough in Mingi for him to be typed as an ENTP or any Ne type.

This was so accurate what?!?! I have a mutable moon and am an INFP
šŸŒ• Lunar Placements and Shadow Work ā€¢ MBTI ā€¢ Enneagram ā€¢ Big 5 ā˜…
Tumblr media
šŸŒ• moon in a cardinal sign - may have a group of friends or spiritual circle with whom they do shadow work with. also tend to need to drink the most water. often hard on themselves, approach their shadow quickly and can overestimate the amount of energy needed to integrate it. reapons to cooling or calming crystals in shades of green, blue, and white. often have unconscious emergences of emotions during shadow work that may take the form of vivid dreams. | tend to be assertive types in the MBTI and E (extrovert) types. Favours enneatypes 3, 8, and 6. ENFP type likely to be able to take on multiple parts of their shadow at once.
ā€¢ N types may tend to be inbalanced and rely heavily on their stronger fuctions
ā€¢ often great at doing shadow work for other people but not for themselves
šŸŒ• moon in a fixed sign - the most likely lunar placements to try and avlid shadow work but also the most likely to follow through with it, keep promises to themselves, and fully break through emotional and spiritual blockages. Will often keep a journal, possibly even a dream journal. | tend to be judging types in the MBTI. Can be T (turbulent) types. enneatypes 1, 9, 2, and 6. INFJ types find the tendency to avoid shadow work is balanced by their strong intuition which can lead them to anticipate the emotions and blackages they may discover.
ā€¢ N types may be very balanced and use the whole of their function stack
ā€¢ NFJ types and especially INFJ may be perfectionists
šŸŒ• moon in a mutable sign - can find it hard to commit to shadow work, but often some of the least likely placements to have spiritual and emotional blockages. very fine tuned to their emotions. most likely to spot blockages before they appear and often quick to notice small details about themselves and others. a strong point and something they encounter often is things from their past coming back and the need to look at these in a fresh light | tend to be perceiving types and intuitives. Very often ENFP or INFP. enneatypes 4, and 7.
ā€¢ quite likely to be an enneagram 6 (counterphobic 6)
ā€¢ NXP types tend to be even flightier than usual. may have a gemini sun sign regardless of lunar placement

ENTJ Te - Se loop
Explanation on an MBTI loop. Not an expert. May change later.
___
Loops in MBTI occurs when a type begins to cycle between their dominant and tertiary function, completely ignoring the auxiliary and inferior. This is mainly caused from stress and can be continous until finally broken.
___
ENTJ function stack: Te - Ni - Se - Fi
ENTJs in a Te - Se loop can have tunnel vision. An ENTJ is supposed to use their auxiliary Ni to refine their plans and ideas (Te). However, it gets ignored in a loop and ENTJ jumps straight to action without looking over their plans. They have the need to work without a clear goal in mind since they become desperate for success and achievements. Can make risky impulsive decisions when stuck in a loop. Recklessness.Ā
Ā This can be shown in sudden aggressiveness, e.g getting mad if they think someone is being incompetent, micromanaging as an attempt to feel in control. They may start to embody the heartless stereotype of Te doms as they ignore theirs and others' values in order to get things done. They may not care if it's problematic - they just need to finish a task and achieve something, even if it's short lived. As Se is focused on physical/present matters, ENTJ may try too hard to look cool (caring too much about others view on them, may start buying unnecessary yet "fancy" items in order to look impressive, etc).Ā
Ā To get out of a loop, ENTJs should try to reconnect with their internal functions. To get in touch with Ni, ENTJ should try to be more introspective. Take the time to understand and organize their inner world.Ā

what Ni is NOT
a lot of people in the community get Ni wrong. and i totally get that because Ni is often talked about in a super vague, weirdly prophetic light. which it is NOT.
Ni does NOT mean you canā€™t make connections between ideas
Ni does NOT mean you only see one truth
Ni is NOT a predictive function
all Ni is, is intuition as it makes sense to you personally. Ne, looks at the outside data and expands on that, Ni looks at the outside data and puts it in their internal framework. thatā€™s the only difference. that Ni is personal and Ne is less personal when dealing with the abstract.
the combination of Se and Ni can come across as Ne because the user takes the tangible details and then subconsciously adds them to their mental framework. the way i personally decide between Ne and Ni is often based on this, idea. that Ni tends to be a more subconscious process, often with the user struggling to explain where the conclusion came from. Ne tends to be an obvious process. i have never once had to question where an Ne user got their idea from, because they often talk through their process unknowingly.
but just because you canā€™t fully understand it does NOT make Ni a sort of prophetic function. never was and never will be. itā€™s just the process of boiling physical things into concepts and adding said concepts to a mental framework that only makes sense to that specific person.

JUNGIAN COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS ARE REALLY NEUROTRANSMITTERS
Dopamine (Ne) is all about exploration, novelty, and active engagement with the world. Itā€™s testing, experimenting, seeing what works, and staying open to multiple perspectives in real time. Itā€™s "what if" thinking, bouncing between ideas, trying them out, and learning through trial and error. This is why the dopamine pathway is short and reactive, driving people to act quickly and be highly responsive to stimuli.
Acetylcholine (Ni) is much more about conception, depth, and refinement. Itā€™s about filtering through possibilities, refining, and finding the most efficient path. This is more about a long-term vision, where you discount distractions and focus on whatā€™s likely to work based on deep internal understanding. Like Ni, acetylcholine works with refined material, builds on past knowledge, and strives for clarity over time. Quality control over quantity. The pathway is longer, as it requires more time for reflection and synthesis.
Norepinephrine (Se) = Sensory Engagement / External Stimulation: Norepinephrine is often about stimulation, arousal, and action in the present moment, which matches Se's focus on immediate sensory input and the world outside. Se engages directly with external stimuli, maximizing the sensory experienceā€”seeing, hearing, touching, and reacting to what's right in front of them, seeking novel or impactful experiences. Norepinephrine similarly drives people to engage with their surroundings, often seeking intensity and excitement. Both want to be in the moment and responsive to the environment.
GABA = Si (Introverted Sensing): GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, meaning it calms down neural activity and contributes to a sense of stability, relaxation, and grounding. This is highly similar to Si, which is about internal sensory recall, stability, and creating a grounded mental state based on past experiences. Just like Si helps us process and stabilize memories and experiences, GABA contributes to calmness and internal balance.
--------
Ooops. Clickbait. Only the perceiving functions can be directly associated with neurotransmitters but here is why:
Perceiving functions (Ne, Ni, Se, Si) are more fundamental in terms of information gathering and conceptualizing because they deal with raw data, sensory input, and ongoing experience. These are processes that happen almost automatically and are more closely tied to the REACTIONS of the brain to immediate stimuli, which is where neurotransmitters like dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA, and serotonin come into play.
Judging functions, on the other hand, are higher-order, more abstract, and deal with organizing, categorizing, and deciding how to act on the information the perceiving functions gather. These processes tend to be more cognitive, involving more logical, computational thinking (yes, fi too!), which requires less direct chemical input and is mediated by higher-level brain areas like the prefrontal cortex. They are more internalized, less reactive to real-time input, and more about evaluating and controlling the data.
-----------
But hey! If you really twist my arm, I could associate Fi with serotonin and Fe with oxytocin.
When it comes to Te and Ti, all I can think of is the lack of serotonin and oxytocin. You lack love, you are less moody, you think more robotic, sticking to the facts as opposed to idealistic or personal or communal values.

MBTI Perceiving Cognitive Functions Explained Fast & Dirty
Note: Sister post to judging functions explanations for @loupdelta
Perceiving Functions
Purpose: How you take in information from the world that informs the decisions you make via the judging functions.
Extraverted Sensing (Se): Taking in information that is happening in real-time around you using your 5 physical senses. It sounds simple and that's because it kind of is! These people live in the here and now, and they tend to use Se to make very practical and relevant decisions that directly impact the situation in front of them. They don't typically get caught up in impractible abstract ideas or outlandish notions and they deal only with observations that everybody can share.
Introverted Sensing (Si): Relying on information built up over time from the individual's personal experience/past. These people are also practical and don't tend to get caught up in irrelevant theories that can't be applied to the situation at hand. Think "the devil is in the details" for these people. They focus on even minute details so that they can make the most informed and pragmatic decisions as possible.
Extraverted Intuition (Ne): Relying on the exploration of all possible effects or outcomes of a particular situation that anyone could imagine. These people are big picture focused and don't get bogged down by details that have little impact. These people like to consider every potential future before making a decision so that they have the most complete description of what the situation currently is and what it will be like next after this person takes action.
Introverted Intuition (Ni): Taking in all aspects of a situation that the individual personally decides is important for decision-making, usually summarizing all of the information in a way that puts it into short and simple terms. These people are also big picture focused and enjoy using their short summaries to focus on what the most-likely future outcome will be. Highly theoretical, these people can prefer to use metaphors to describe the current situation and explain how the ending will come about.
For your reference, below are all 16 types with the order in which their cognitive functions are placed (essentially, in order of strength). I've organized them by their strongest perceiving functions.
Note: All types have both sensing and perceiving functions because everyone has the ability to focus on practical details and think about abstract big pictures.
High Se users (xSxP)
ESTP: Se-Ti-Fe-Ni ESFP: Se-Fi-Te-Ni ISTP: Ti-Se-Ni-Fe ISFP: Fi-Se-Ni-Te
High Si users (xSxJ)
ISTJ: Si-Te-Fi-Ne ISFJ: Si-Fe-Ti-Ne ESTJ: Te-Si-Ne-Fi ESFJ: Fe-Si-Ne-Ti
High Ne users (xNxP)
ENTP: Ne-Ti-Fe-Si ENFP: Ne-Fi-Te-Si INTP: Ti-Ne-Si-Fe INFP: Fi-Ne-Si-Te

Sorta me when I'm really cross.
ā€œBeing rude is often low Teā€ Why does low Te express itself as rudeness?
Itā€™s blunt and factual when caught off guard and/or tends to see others as incompetent or ā€œstupidā€ when stressed or over-relying on their logic (seeing how things are disorganized, inefficient, or substandard). Low Te can ā€œrelay the factsā€ without considering how it will be taken by its audience (lack of strong Fe) unless it has time to self-insert and ask, ā€œhow would *I* react to being told this in this manner? does this seem too frank to me?ā€
