So like, i was thinking right.

we know that guardian urak will like own several human pets for the purpose of training them and sending them off to alien stage with the hopes of them winning. however we also know that the only person who has gotten close to winning is Till.

Meaning that technically, these other kids couldve been considered Till’s siblings in a way.

This next part is fully headcanon BUT WHAT IF LIKE HE WAS ACTUALLY CLOSE TO THEM OR AT LEAST SPENT TIME WITH THEM!!! What if Till had met and spoken with these kids, before watching them die in alien stage, knowing he himself would eventually be put in the same situation.

What if this is just another factor for why Till hates aliens?? like hes long since hated aliens before urak but this could just be even more fuel for his hatred?? siblings he once had were cruelly taken away from him and killed. Since Till wouldve had to be younger he mightve even looked up to these other siblings, JUST TO SEE THEM DIE DO YOU GUYS SEE MY VISION

i know someone would’ve probably mentioned it by now, but its very likely that urak still has other pet humans he trains similarly in case Till loses or if he wants to win again. SO NOT ONLY WOULD TILL HAVE HAD TO SEE HIS OLDER SIBLINGS WHO HE ADMIRED DIE IN ALIEN STAGE BUT WOULD HAVE TO BE BURDENED WITH THE FACT THAT NOW ITS HIS YOUNGER SIBLINGS WHO MIGHT SEE HIM DIE.

and even if he won, that doesn’t guarantee their lives if urak decided to put them in alien stage after winning with Till, which he probably will anyways. MEANING THERES A CHANCE HE ALSO MIGHT SEE HIS YOUNGER SIBLINGS DIE AHHHH

Grudge Match headcanon:

Messmer owns many, many snakes, but his favorites are two albino reticulated pythons. Their names are Uriel and Tamiel. Both are pushing nine feet long, and both are certified therapy animals. They wear little vests with their certification patches. They help Messmer keep calm by draping around him like a weighted blanket, and they are quite well attuned to his moods. In stressful social situations, Messmer will find a place to sit down and then slowly disappear under his cocoon of snakes.

I'm thinking about Ernest again.

Imagine you grow up surrounded by a loving family (we'll ignore the kind of fucked up things going on there as well). Then your mother dies and your older brother leaves for university and sure that’s sad but eventually live goes on. But a few years later your younger brother gets murdered, seemingly by the housekeeper who is also your cousin's best friend; someone you thought you could trust. She gets executed for it, maybe you think she deserved it, maybe you wonder if she really could have done it, especially since your brother and cousin are convinced she didn’t.

A while after that your brother's dearest friend, who you likely know very well –he visited so often during your childhood that your house is probably like a second home to him– gets murdered somewhere in Ireland. Your brother is accused of the murder and ultimately aquitted, but when he returns he is like an empty shell of his former self. Maybe you wonder what exactly happened back in Ireland, but even of you do, you will never know.

Your brother and cousin get married as your parents had always wished they did but on the wedding night your cousin gets murdered as well.

Shortly after your father dies broken-hearted.

Now you and your brother are the only ones left. You should stay together, work through all the grief and support eachother after everything that happened, right? Afterall you only have eachother.

But your brother leaves. Packs his bags one day without telling you why. Maybe you ask him to stay, maybe he leaves at night when you're sleeping and you wake up to him being gone.

He never returns. The house is empty, you're the only one left there. Halls that used to be filled with laughter are now echoing the sounds of your footsteps as you wander around them feeling lost and alone.

Maybe you find out what happened to your brother. Maybe one day you receive a letter from Russia or England, signed by someone called Robert Walton, telling you your brother died up in the arctic on his ship.

You wonder what brought him there, what was there that led him to desert you, was there any reason he left or did he just run to leave everything behind, to even leave his only living brother?

Maybe you find out, maybe the letter tells you the entire story, your own brother's narration of a horrifying tale, you wonder if you can even believe it. Maybe he has truly gone mad, but it fits with the events perfectly. You don’t know what to think.

But maybe you never find out, maybe you never even get that letter. Maybe you'll spend the rest of your live wondering what happened. What went wrong, so that you are now alone on this earth, robbed of all those you loved? Maybe you'll never know, maybe you'll never find your peace.

I love reading Iceland historical fanfiction and whenever something inaccurate happens I just say in my head "nuh uh that didnt happen" and move on

sometimes it is frustrating, multiple times I have seen the whole "Iceland wanted protection" and "it wasnt an occupation" going around, which is extremely frustrating. Or just straight up "Iceland asked for britain/america to protect him"

I get that some people want to tweak things for it to fit their story (something I do as well) but obscuring the nature of the occupation is not the way to go, it was an invasion and it was not well liked at all.

Some things are harder to find information about, like how support for NATO wasn't the majority until later parts of the cold war, even though Iceland was one of its founding members. Or in general how the icelandic government was positive to the US, but many people weren't. something I only know because I ask my own family members about the topic frequently and like talking about them, because there are multiple ways of viewing the history

I guess I am just tired of reading the same thing and same interpretation over and over again, because people only really know iceland as a close ally to the US and aren't all aware over lesser known history especially in regards to politics and friendliness to the US as a whole. I just want my leftist iceland, give me bitter rebellious leftist iceland!! because thats way more accurate to how icelandic history is!! they had one of the strongest leftist movements in comparison to other countries!!
