WAIT AND CHENFORD X BUDDIE

i don’t think i’ve ever officially posted about this one, but i definitely want to finish it one day…it lives rent free in my notes app 😂

but basically eddie and tim meet and lucy and buck meet, and they both complain (affectionately) about their partners and together they realize they’re all dumbasses in love

anyway, here’s the basis of what i have 💙

The guy nodded his head, taking Eddie’s response in. “So, you here avoiding the wife?”

Even though it’d been awhile now, it was still difficult to answer sometimes.

“No, she uh, she passed away a few years ago now.” Before the guy could comment, Eddie quickly added, “we weren’t together for a while before that, but…” He trialed off, the other guy seeming to understand with a simple nod of his head.

“So girlfriend then?”

“No, don’t have one of those either. What about you…wife, girlfriend…or husband/boyfriend?”

The man looked Eddie over for a moment, seeming to think about his answer before saying, “nope, don’t have any of those either. But uh, it would be a girlfriend.” He didn’t say it in a way that made Eddie think he was afraid Eddie was flirting with him, just simple and matter of fact; he seemed like a no nonsense kind of guy.

“I’m Tim by the way,” the guy said, extending his hand out to him.

“Eddie.”

Two more beers were placed on the counter in front of them, the bartender looking between the two of them.

“So, if y’all don’t have any spouses or such, what’s got you here drowning in your sorrows?”

Both Eddie and Tim sighed, answering in unison. “My partner.”

They turned to each other with raised brows, the bartender even more curious than before.

“I thought—you two just said you were single.”

“Work partner,” they both clarified, looking each other over once more. The bartender eyed them keenly, though left them to it when their attention was called elsewhere.

Tim turned to face Eddie, eyes raised in interest. “So, you got a pain in the ass partner too?”

Eddie scoffed. “You have no idea.”

Tim took the fresh beer, raising it out, Eddie taking his and knocking them together.

“So, this partner of yours got a name?”

Eddie wanted to say there were several, though he went with the easiest.

“Yea, Buck.”

“Please tell me that’s a nickname?”

Eddie laughed, nodding his head. “Yea, one of many. So, what about you…what’s your partners name?”

Tim seemed to think about it for a moment as Eddie had, though he finally answered with, “Lucy. But like you said, that’s one of several.”

Huh. Looked like him and this random bar guy had more in common than Eddie thought. It was just coincidence though, right? Wrong; he was so very, very wrong.

a wip i never finished; ”Freedom Is All You’ve Got”

Maverick felt like he had nothing left. Goose was gone. Gone. His blood stained his hands. No longer would he hear Goose’s laugh, feel the warm and comforting hand on his shoulder, no longer would he have a chance to hug his friend, his brother.

Only thing he had left was the freedom the skies provided whenever he was in the air. He had managed to become even more reckless, flying like he didn’t even try to come back home. Because where even was his home? Goose was gone. His home was gone.

Mav didn’t want to remind Carole and baby duckling Bradley from what they’ve lost. What they’ve all lost. Maverick was the reason Carole lost her loving husband, why Bradley lost his devoted father.

Maverick had always been spontaneous, but especially with Goose, he would actually make plans for the future and wait for them. Now he didn’t, living like every day was going to be his last. Driving his Kawasaki faster when it was raining, begging to be sent on dangerous missions, seeking fights on purpose.

If he had no one left to mourn him, others did. He rather he was the one risking his life because all he had was his freedom. Others had something, someone to live for.

Maverick was simply waiting to burn in. He was living just to die. Such thoughts still made him feel guilty. Maverick lost a friend, someone he considered a brother, but Carole lost a husband and she had to raise their babyboy all by herself while Bradley had to grow up without a father, just like Mav.

He often thinks about Carole, especially out on deployments. He loves her, knows he does but he was still a living reminder of what they lost. Maverick couldn’t bear to see sadness in Carole’s eyes, she was such a bright and bubbly woman but the death of the love of her life and soulmate dramatically changed that. Maybe it was better this way, better for Maverick to stay away since he seems to ruin and destroy everything he ever lays his hands on.

If it doesn’t kill you, it fucking breaks you. It crumbles you down, eats you up from inside, it will absolutely ruin you. It doesn’t make you stronger, it has no mercy nor pity.

God I want him back.

Reimagined Trinity

a WIP that I’ve technically been working on for over a year but never finished and so I’m just posting now bc why not. Design thoughts below:

BATMAN

lighter on the bottom darker on the top like how fish blend in with the sea floor/sky differently depending on whether you’re above or below them

shorts mimic urban landscape

simple bat symbol. Kinda constellation like

big stomping boots bc he deserves it and also needs good grip

SUPERMAN

yellow/orange inside of cape mimic sun :) (this is a design feature that I think should be used wayyy more often)

break up the full blue with soft alien designs. Not armoured plating

ridges on his sleeves so people can hold on easier

sleek boots bc his only job is to fly and look pretty

princely looking collar

El crest is his golden age design but with different colours

WONDER WOMAN

this is just a design I’ve drawn a lot

clay pottery bodice that can glow

protective underlayer

bandages for aesthetic & purpose. Supposed to evoke Greek sandals

barefoot bc obviously

clay-textured skin because the way that Alex Ross draws her breaking apart in Justice is imprinted on my mind

sword hilt is the Wonder Woman symbol!

hair is free enough to have motion and stuff but constrained enough (especially on sword side) that it won’t get as caught in things or get in the way

I feel like a fun idea for hsr would be dan heng and dan feng fighting for control over dan heng’s body. Like say DF just like wakes up in DH’s body one day after DH like takes a massive hit and almost dies and the express crew being oblivious bc DF is a magnificent actor and they just assume DH is on edge after almost dying. The real kicker is that like the High Could Quintet (Jing Yuan, Blade, Jingliu) are the only ones who know/suspect it.

Another point could be that DF and DH fighting styles are different so Trailblazer is confused as to why Dan Heng is suddenly so carefree in the middle of a battle not even bothering to bring out his spear and just using cloud hymm magic like it’s no big deal and putting on these extravagant attacks, meanwhile DF is in control and like internally sighing bc this is such a boring fight compared to when he and the high cloud quintet “insert insane achievement here”

Think of like Dan Heng’s hair growing out and Dan Feng REFUSING to let him cut it or like Dan Feng constantly walking around in Imbibitor Lunae form bc he can’t deal with the fact Dan Heng keeps his hair short. Or seeing Dan Heng’s short hair get like styled differently or his clothing style change bc Dan Feng refuses to let him keep dressing like a shut in.

March being simultaneously excited and confused seeing Dan Heng actually looking like a person who cares about his appearance rather than someone who just rolled out of bed and was unfortunately pretty

Even better better whenever one Dan is in control they can actively hear the other one in their heads and like DH now has to deal with Dan Feng judging every single thing he does. Like “are you sure you want to put such a noxious substance in our body” or “I feel as though my plan was superior but do as you please I suppose.”

Bonus points: Is that Blade’s mara stops flaring when DH is in control and only flares when DF is in control so DF is religiously telling DH to like get closer to Blade and like flirt with him bc when he tries to Blade goes into attack mode and won’t listen.
