WAIT AND CHENFORD X BUDDIE

i don’t think i’ve ever officially posted about this one, but i definitely want to finish it one day…it lives rent free in my notes app 😂

but basically eddie and tim meet and lucy and buck meet, and they both complain (affectionately) about their partners and together they realize they’re all dumbasses in love

anyway, here’s the basis of what i have 💙

The guy nodded his head, taking Eddie’s response in. “So, you here avoiding the wife?”

Even though it’d been awhile now, it was still difficult to answer sometimes.

“No, she uh, she passed away a few years ago now.” Before the guy could comment, Eddie quickly added, “we weren’t together for a while before that, but…” He trialed off, the other guy seeming to understand with a simple nod of his head.

“So girlfriend then?”

“No, don’t have one of those either. What about you…wife, girlfriend…or husband/boyfriend?”

The man looked Eddie over for a moment, seeming to think about his answer before saying, “nope, don’t have any of those either. But uh, it would be a girlfriend.” He didn’t say it in a way that made Eddie think he was afraid Eddie was flirting with him, just simple and matter of fact; he seemed like a no nonsense kind of guy.

“I’m Tim by the way,” the guy said, extending his hand out to him.

“Eddie.”

Two more beers were placed on the counter in front of them, the bartender looking between the two of them.

“So, if y’all don’t have any spouses or such, what’s got you here drowning in your sorrows?”

Both Eddie and Tim sighed, answering in unison. “My partner.”

They turned to each other with raised brows, the bartender even more curious than before.

“I thought—you two just said you were single.”

“Work partner,” they both clarified, looking each other over once more. The bartender eyed them keenly, though left them to it when their attention was called elsewhere.

Tim turned to face Eddie, eyes raised in interest. “So, you got a pain in the ass partner too?”

Eddie scoffed. “You have no idea.”

Tim took the fresh beer, raising it out, Eddie taking his and knocking them together.

“So, this partner of yours got a name?”

Eddie wanted to say there were several, though he went with the easiest.

“Yea, Buck.”

“Please tell me that’s a nickname?”

Eddie laughed, nodding his head. “Yea, one of many. So, what about you…what’s your partners name?”

Tim seemed to think about it for a moment as Eddie had, though he finally answered with, “Lucy. But like you said, that’s one of several.”

Huh. Looked like him and this random bar guy had more in common than Eddie thought. It was just coincidence though, right? Wrong; he was so very, very wrong.

heheheheh any excuse to talk about @singlethread hehehee and i have been meaning to go through my archive for this

so basically i kept seeing her with 911 related things, and then i got more into the swiftie side of tumblr too and they were also everywhere there, we became mutuals, she sent me their buddie ppt for swiftie ppt night (an immaculate work of art) and then we started chatting in DMs and asks and discovering that we are really fucking similar (one instance of this) and wanted to then send videos of rosa and juni so we exchanged numbers. and then for their birthday i wrote them a fic -- mind you i am oblivious at this point. i then sorta realized that i had a crush in like march or so and hopped on the dating apps again to try to combat it which got me three dates with someone but i was not comfy with them after that. so i deleted the apps again. and i get distracted by some other life stuff including realizinf that i need to fucking quit my job, so i deal with that. (all through out this amelia and i are sending each other asks about kissing each other etc etc) anyway-- July 2nd hits, Amelia is attending the Eras Tour, i'm watching a grainy lives stream as usual, and ms. swift begins to play ivy -- which is a very special song to amelia and i post this, why you ask? because i was crying over the fact that she was getitng to hear it live, and that i was by extension watching that happen through the stream, and that i was singing it with her too. i was down very bad. (still am btw) and then i said this and this

now-- its the end of september, crush night -- the pivotal moment. i reblog this and answer this ask amelia makes polls about dating tumblr mutuals etc etc -- moral of the story: we are dumb!!! (there are so many other posts if you go to my archive btw) anyway @loveaffairmaimyou finally got sick of us and dm'd me asking who my crush was and at this point i kinda figured it was mutual and was very much freaking the fuck out. we finally talked to each other about it. and history was made

and i didnt implode because i visited her for new years and got kissed (lots)

Ace was walking through the media pen when she saw Max for the first time that night. She ran up to him and he saw her out of the corner of his eyes and turned just intime to catch her in the jump hug. “World champion!” She laughed, hugging him tightly. “Hello leeuw.” He laughed. “I’m so proud of you. But we’re coming for you next year.” She said when he dropped her down. He took her arm pulling her away from the mics much like he did Lando.

“Just like I told Lando, your time will come. I know you have it in you. You just have to be patient.” He told her. “If I’m anything like my inspiration then it’ll be soon won’t it.” She said truthfully. He hugged her again. “I don’t call you little lion for nothing.” He said. “We’ll celebrate properly in Abu Dhabi. There are a couple things we’ll celebrate.” Ace laughed knowing the two of them would find a way to celebrate anything with a glass in their hand.

acegiovanelli to my best friend and mentor, 4 time world champion Max fucking Verstappen. I saw you for the first time in 2016 when I first got into Formula 4. I was invited to the Spanish GP where you got your first win in F1. Since that very moment I looked up to you. I went through that F4 season saying one day I would ace alongside you. I spent a few years in Renault Cup struggling to get any higher due to who I was, a woman. You vouched for me to get put into F3 as a Red Bull Junior driver, and we all know what happened there. Through that championship, and my F2 championship, you’ve always supported me, you watched all my races, and always told me one day I would be on the grid with you. 

Our relationship went from friends to siblings when I became your reserve driver in 2022, and if the season before proved to be anything, I knew I was just a professional seat warmer. Despite not getting to drive in the same team with you, these past two years driving besides you and battling you has been a dream come true. Yes, you fought against my boyfriend and teammate for this, but you truly deserve this fourth title. I’m honoured to be your little lion, I love you and I’m coming for you next season.

Qatar: Wednesday night

“You look very nice.” Lando said, coming up behind her in the hotel bathroom. She had a simple dress on, finding one last minute here in Qatar. “Thank you amour.” She kissed his cheek. “I’m gonna stream with Max while you're gone if you need me at any moment you call me.” He informed.

“I know, baby. I love you.” She kissed his lips before slipping out of the bathroom to put her heels on. “Cars here baby.” Lando told her looking at his phone. “Mon Dieu, okay.” She said grabbing her purse and looking at herself in the mirror again.

“You look great, go.” Lando kissed her lips with a light slap to her bottom. “I’ll bring you food back.” She said kissing him once again, a little longer than needed, before heading out.

She happened to get there at the same time as Max and his family pulled up as well. “Mon ange!” She chuckled seeing Max and Kelly hand in hand and going over to the woman. “How I’ve missed you.” She hugged her after a french greeting. “I missed you too. We’re so happy you could make it.”

She pulled away from Kelly and did the same thing to Max. “Safe travels?” He asked. “Of course. Hangover?”

“Of course.” He replied, making the two women laugh. “Alright, let’s go inside, I'm starving.” He said shortly after and he held the door open for the girls who joined hands ahead of him. They sat down somewhere very private and got some non-alcoholic drinks as it was a race weekend. 

Ace and Kelly talked through the majority of dinner with Max’s input every so often. It wasn’t until they were waiting on dessert did Ace say something. “Not that I don’t love spending time with you two, but why have you invited just me to dinner?” She asked, looking at the couple.

“We wondered when you were going to ask.” Max chuckled as Kelly grabbed a small box from her purse and handed it to her. “My birthday is next week.” She said hesitantly, not opening the box. “We know that, stupid. Just open the box.”

“Max, don’t call her stupid.” Kelly scolded, making Ace stick her tongue out at him. “Just open the box.” He said excitedly. Ace undid the bow and lifted the top off. She peeked inside and gasped, tears forming in her eyes. 

“I- you’re-” but nothing was coming out as she looked back down at the ultrasound. “That is your god-baby.” Max said softly holding onto Kelly’s belly. At those words Ace chuckled through a sob softly. “I- I’m so happy for you both, what the fuck.” The couple laughed as she slid the remainder of the booth to hug Kelly.

“You’re a maman again.” She whispered to Kelly. “Holy shit you’re a dad.” Ace gasped, pulling away from Kelly quickly. “Yeah I’m still here.” He said standing up as Ace slid out of the booth to hug him tightly. 

She was still crying and Max used his thumbs to pat away her tears. “If you keep crying I’m going to start, and I don’t want to.” He said, his eyes getting glassy. “Désolé. But mon Dieu, I'm so happy right now.” She said and they all chuckled. “You are P’s favourite, you treat her so well. Max and I love and adore you, and we want you to be a significant part in our baby’s life just as you are to us.” Ace hid her face in her hands at Kelly’s words. 

“I love you guys.” Ace said calming down again. “We love you little lion.” Max said, grabbing her hand over the table. “I think you’re next.” Kelly said teasingly, making Max gag. “Moving too fast, liefje." Ace laughed at Max. “Okay papa bear.” She joked and then realised the pun. “Hey!” She pointed, making the couple laugh at her.

“A little Verstappen- Piquet waddling around the paddock. Going to turn them papaya.” Ace smiled mischievously, making Max point a finger at her while Kelly just shook her head,”

“Don’t you dare!”

They practiced for a few more hours, brainstorming ideas for the big video they were planning, Eddie bone tired by the end. As everyone else moved around to their beds or downstairs to the club, Eddie snagged Buck’s arm, taking him outside onto the roof.

“Hey, is everything—are we ok? You’ve been oddly quiet all day.”

“My random facts don’t bore you?”

Eddie eyed Buck keenly. “I would never use the word boring to describe anything about you.”

Buck looked away from him then, Eddie giving him time to gather his thoughts.

“It’s just—if we get caught, it could be the end of this. Of-of everything.”

Eddie knew how much was on the line, knew everything that was at stake. He also knew what he would lose if they didn’t get this money. The outcome was worth the risk; always had been.

“I think it’s worth the risk. Plus, the 118 never gets caught.”

In all the years they’d been doing their unorganized mobs, they’d never been caught; never even come close. They weren’t untouchable, but there wasn’t anything to be afraid of. Well, except for losing that was.

“There are rules, Eds.”

Eddie stepped into Bucks’ space, taking the man’s hands in his, fitting their fingers together. He leaned in close, just brushing their noses together before letting go of Buck, letting him fall just a bit before pulling him back up and dipping him down low.

Buck’s blues were wide and full of trust, Eddie looking right into them.

“Break the rules.”

Okay! So! Do you remember how last year we were speccing and dreaming hard about Eddie’s trip to texas being his moment to come out? But then what happened made much more sense cause we are clowns? Yeah. I think this might be it. Now I don’t think we will get any glimpses of this trip like last time, this time his trip is about running out of time. He wants time with his mom cause he is realizing that maybe they don’t have as much time as he so generously awarded them. And even if they do have that time he wants to spend some of it with his family. But he also needs time himself. To chip away at some of the loneliness.

So all this to say, I think that this loneliness and pain will come up and how buck is a component of it. Which leads to him talking about his feelings with someone in his family, essentially coming out to them. Because he needs to talk to someone about this. And it’s different kind of talking oof he were to do it with Frank. And he can’t talk to much of his LA support because they see and/or know buck. And he wouldn’t want to put any of them in a situation where they know something like that. And of course his family knows who buck is, they can’t talk to Christopher without hearing about their trips to the zoo or how he helped make cookies for the bake sale. And they have met him a couple times. They know somewhat how entangled buck is in their lives in LA but they don’t know.

Anyway, yeah. We won’t see it on screen but I am always watching eddie and with the nuanced work that Kenny mentioned I am especially paying close attention. And I’m willing to bet there might be a slight shift.

There is no room on the bed. You can't even move without waddling like a penguin anymore. Every day and night feels the same, but Armando stayed around.

“Babe? I'm hungry.” You're laying on your back from the couch, pretty much keeping both hands on your large stomach. Apparently, eight months flew by.

“Dinner?” His accent pulled your interest once more, but one of the typical meals wouldn't be enough.

“Ice cream.” You slowly turned your head while Armando moved toward the kitchen. “Bring the pickle jar, too.”

“Sweet or salty?” Armando peeked in the fridge without hesitation. Your cravings showed up at random times.

“Both.” You say regardless. Little AJ grew more and more with each passing moment as your pregnancy moved along.

I don’t know as much about the production of aa5 and 6 but you mentioned a person names Eshiro being responsible for the “no spoilers” rule being replaced. what/who is that? just in general giving u the floor to rant about aa5 and 6 beyond what u were able to say in that post and ur hopes for the future 💙✨ ok bye! :)

So, the story of why aa5 and aa6 are so different to aa4 basically boils down to a change in the team making it (and Eshiro was part of this).

Most people know Shu Takumi wrote and directed the original trilogy of Phoenix Wright games and then worked on Apollo Justice (although the director was technically Mitsuru Endo, people tend to think of AJ as the last "Takumi" mainline game). After that, he left the Ace Attorney team to complete and release Ghost Trick in 2010, and then he became involved in the development of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, which released in 2012.

While he was doing all of this, a "secondary" Ace Attorney team had arisen to keep working on the franchise - they had almost all worked on previous AA games and in 2009 and 2011 they were able to release the two Ace Attorney Investigations games.

The two most well-known members of this "team" are the producer Motohide Eshiro and the director Takeshi Yamazaki, and the fact that AAI2 is so beloved shows that they are by no means unable to make really, really good Ace Attorney games. But, with Takumi still busy with his other projects, and a good few years having passed since AA4, this team was asked to create a fifth Ace Attorney game in his absence.

This was, obviously, a challenge, and Capcom were likely in quite a rush to get a new mainline game out soon. Additionally, initial fan reception of AA4 was really not that good - many people hated the decision to disbar Phoenix in particular - and the game itself had many loose ends.

Eshiro, as the producer, decided that for AA5 it was better for the writers to not be held back by previous games, which manifested in what people think of now as the "no spoilers rule". This is why AA5 does not follow up on AA4, and likewise for AA6. Nowadays this decision is widely regarded as a very bad move, but on some level I empathise with it - AA has always been kind of reluctant to spoil past games, and you were always operating with the presumption that the player might be new to the series and wanted to go back to the previous games. Writing a follow-up that addressed AA4, while being acceptable to newcomers and not spoiling almost all of AA4's biggest twists, without the guy who originally came up with the story, would prove really difficult.

So they wrote Dual Destinies as a new story which followed AA4 but didn't really address it, and indulged in fanservice to try and restore the series status quo. It seems like the scenario changed a lot during development and they were pretty crunched for time, too - the final villain's models are apparently called FINALBOSS in the game files and completely broken if you look at them from any other angle.

After working on AA5, Yamazaki was apparently exhausted and didn't really want to make another Ace Attorney. Unfortunately for him, Shu Takumi was still off on his Sherlock & Souseki Victorian-Meiji Adventure, writing the Great Ace Attorney duology, and he wouldn't get done until 2017 when DGS2 came out.

Eshiro managed to persuade Yamazaki to work on AA6 by bringing him to conventions, and having seen the passion and overjoyed reactions from fans after AA5 came out, Yamazaki agreed to direct the sixth game, with Takuro Fuse (AA5 and 6's main artist) acting as co-director to ease the load. Some of AA6's cases were also created by guest writers; the SOJ artbook mentions a struggle for ideas, which explains the outlandish setting of Khura'in.

To the best of my knowledge (and I'm not sure this account is 100% accurate so anyone please feel free to correct me) this is why AA5 and AA6 are the way they are. Nobody is particularly to blame for how things turned out; there were just a couple of bad decisions along the way which has resulted in the games being looked back on by a lot of people with some contempt. Given the circumstances, I'm actually pretty impressed with how enjoyable Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice are, even if they don't reach the heights of the trilogy.

Yamazaki left Capcom in 2019. Eshiro went on to produce Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2, and I'm pretty sure he's still at Capcom.

What all of this means for the next Ace Attorney title is completely speculation, but the short version of the story is that Shu Takumi has finally come back from getting milk Herlock Sholmes Jail writing other games, and seems to be getting hyped up by capcom as the "Director of the Ace Attorney Series". This makes it very likely he will direct and write the next Ace Attorney game. At present we have no idea what this means - he could follow up on AA4's story as well as he's able, he could write another Phoenix game, he might go rogue and write an Athena game, he might do something completely different. But the next AA game will likely be around the quality of AA1-2-3-4 and DGS, not another AA5/6 situation.

As for the producer, this comes from the November 2020 leaks (which was very real - it's where we first got the TGAA localisation confirmed), but the only thing we heard about their projected AA7 was that it would be produced by a guy called Yasayuki Makino. He also produced The Great Ace Attorney collection, and if you read his dev blogs from that release, he credits AA4 for getting him into the series initially, and generally seems to be a huge Ace Attorney fan himself, pushing hard for TGAA to get a worldwide re-release after its unimpressive initial sales (and look how well that's worked out...!)

That's basically the story. I think AA7 will be great, actually, but at this point I will literally take anything, Capcom please my family is starving
