You know personally, I really don’t like how Pearl and Maya’s older designs basically changed nothing outside of just looking older

It just feels like there were so many missed opportunities here

I know Phoenix and Edgeworth also don’t really look that different either, but I don’t know, it feels like more of a tragedy here. Like these two could have gotten something new, especially with the 10 year time gap, but they’re kept nearly the same despite all that because people liked them in the original trilogy and the 3D games wanted them to be the same for nostalgia while not actually adding anything to them. I imagine a lot of it came from the backlash of Apollo Justice’s changes, but still

I also kind of dislike that neither of them got that much taller. I mean Maya I can kind of get, she was I think 19 by trilogy’s end and by that point she’d be mostly fully grown, but why has Pearl not even grown half a foot taller since she was 8 years old?? I know some people can just stop growing at a young age, and that short people exist, but come on

#im gonna pretend mattie didnt die and visits them sometimes back in toronto #it's such a cute dynamic they have #the two evil (affectionate) sisters who just loving teasing laura #also one of my favourite things abt this show is the choreographing they do for the static camera #i bet it's so annoying to have to think about but i love watching them all move so coordinatedly through the frame #somehow still making it look natural #also i know laura is the storyteller one and i dont really know enough abt romanticism to make any definitive claims abt carmilla #but having scrolled her blog a bit to figure out her tastes in music and art #i wonder if theres a part of carmilla that kind of enjoys being starcrossed. or doomed in a sense #or maybe she that she wouldnt have CHOSEN this story necessarily but that she has resigned herself to it #on account of her vampire nature #and sees a certain beauty in it #that all her romances are doomed #idk. im still figuring her out #also im reinterpreting that exchange mattie and carmilla have in this scene #carmilla calls mattie a utilitarian which is probably right #mattie then callls her a nihilist and carmilla corrects that to existentialist #and mattie says absurdist at best #but those arent designations like back and forth as i had read it before #it's just carmillas philosophy theyre arguing about. i THINK. or maybe it's both of them #putting a pin in that until ive read more books #also kind of obsessed with how laura and danny and maybe the other humans are so quick to ascribe a morality to the vampires #based just on the 'shes a vampire!!' while obviously by necessity the vampires have spent wayyyyyyyyyy more time thinking abt their ethics #or maybe not by necessity for all of them but to mattie and carmilla it definitely seems like a necessity. or inevitability #they mustve spent countless hours over the centuries talking abt this if they can joke abt it in this way now #and in different states too like i can imagine distraught Im A Monster type conversations but also just sort of academic debates and also #carmilla reading some new book that has come out and mattie being like what newfangled thing are you into now #i guess utilitarianism was also newfangled at some point. theyre both older. but you know #carmilla is a poet. dont know if she writes poetry but she looks at things in a poet's way i think #also dont think shes entirely a romantic but i do think some of her tastes lean more toward the romantic

why do christians get mad about jews having 'loopholes'. did i miss something. do you guys strictly follow the 613 commandments to the letter. if you don't even believe you need to fulfill these obligations in the first place, then why do you think jews are wrong for fulfilling them in silly or nontraditional ways? always followed by some shit about us not going to heaven because of it like damnnn i wonder if maybe there's another reason jews believe that following our own laws is a good idea. maybe because we want to be good people on earth instead of only being a good person for the sake of earning a primo spot in the afterlife.

#obviously I don't believe other religions have to follow our laws they were written For Us and a lot of them #are more about running a functional society than being a good person as an individual #but that critique is getting upset at us for failing to do something you yourself do not do #so if you don't think our rules are important in the first place fuck off and don't tell us we're following them wrong #ntm the ' loopholes ' are like. an intended part of the system. because it's living law.#you are SUPPOSED to continuously reinterpret and find new ways to follow judaism as the world changes #that's kinda why we've been around for so long #sorry I've just heard this like A Lot recently and it's even more annoying than just like Well you're going to hell bc you don't love jesus #Because at least the latter is you're wrong for following a different religion not you're following your religion wrong #but also i don't believe you should follow it ' right ' either #like if everyone from reform to ultra orthodox has silly loopholes around our laws #could you consider that maybe that's just... how we do it? that it's on purpose? and not us failing to follow our own religion correctly?

#in the top 3 stampede moments I regularly think about #stampede rlly reinterpreted trigun to make it all about love. vash's love for rem. knives' love for him. vash's love for humanity.#in the manga knives does not crash the ships because of vash. he does it because he thinks humanity is a blight #ik that stampede is technically a prequel and what happens in july is leading up to vash reexamining n solidifying his pacifism #but the kicker is that knives' is RIGHT! vash repeatedly gets rejected by other people #someone tries shooting him and when his angel arm protects him the townspeople start throwing ROCKS at him #in the manga his goofiness is a facade! to make himself small to make himself seem harmless to make it so that he can avoid fighting #and in stampede which arguably takes place before vash adopts that sillier persona knives SEES and KNOWS what's going to happen #he thinks vash is debasing himself he thinks vash needs to be protected he thinks HE knows better for vash than vash #and so he proceeds to remake vash. not for him. but for VASH himself.#so vash can achieve happiness but it's knives' standard of happiness #so who's the selfish one and who's the selfless one #do they actually love each other? can they love each other without understanding each other?#or maybe they just think they understand each other #which is why despite everything they try and try and try to get the other to understand #for that small sliver of a possibility #UGHHHGRGKRHGK #trigun.talk

I'm on like Level 5 of my replay of the Lego DC Supervillians game. I can't really say too much about it, but I want to emphasize how many of DC's villains are better than their heroes. Most of these characters are at least somewhat sympathetic (from Solomon Grundy to Harley Quinn, Livewire to Captain Cold, Reverse-Flash to Poison Ivy, etc). And the only character in the main playable cast list who I haven't found super, super sympathetic is Malcolm Merlyn. But im general, DC has a problem where their villians are so compelling that I actively dislike a lot of their heroes and root for the villians. That does make this game fun though, I must say.

Supergirl/Superman Concept:

For context, during the earlier days of nuclear research and testing, there were fears that setting off an atomic bomb would kickstart a chain reaction that would ignite the atmosphere and kill everything on Earth. (Now, we know that's impossible, and the scientists with the Manhatten Project knew that wasn't gonna happen either)

Back to Superman, what if that is how Krypton is destroyed? The terrible effect of some weapon or scientific experiment gone horribly awry, irradiating the planet as a mix of the above scenario and the Teracide from Killzone.

(The detonation could also eject a large hunk of the planet's crust into orbit, possibly following a certain Rocket as it makes it way to Earth)

Krypton the planet is relatively intact (though there might be a hole in the crust a la Adventure Time), but an irritated lifeless hunk.

This also allows for an interesting interpretation of Argo City.

Instead of being jettisoned from the planet, Zor-El constructs a force field that allows it to survive the cataclysm (maybe based off of Brainiac's tech?).

And thus, life continues in Argo City.

At least until the shields and environmental generators begin to go, and the radiation of Krypton begins to leak through.

And Zor-L breaks out his brother's rocket schematics..

#f&b fans are v dramatic about some of the changes or omissions being made in the show and i say this #as someone who was regularly livid about choices GOT made #the difference is that asoiaf is a very character focused and character driven narrative being told to us first hand from those characters #f&b is an umpteenthhand account of events that occurred MANY YEARS prior written by many varried biased and unreliable sources #it also takes a historic view of those events and all parties involved. of course some of those characters aren't going to be in the show #because it's *a show* and has a much more focused narrative about the main players in the dance i.e. the families of the blacks and greens #like i'm sorry you aren't getting to see this character you liked but may i remind you #that everything we know about many of them consists of a few paragraphs if that #i have a much easier time rolling with alterations here because while there IS source material it is very thin and leaves so much more room #for reimagining and reinterpretation. sometimes the changes are better and tell a better story.#and if you don't like those changes that is fine and well within your right but maybe just don't watch the show then?#and while i absolutely believe we need to be critical of certain narrative choices made by creators #could we maybe not tack on personal accusations about a creator's moral character based solely around these choices?#so often it seems like ''i don't like this'' or ''i think this creative choice has some questionable implications i think we should unpack''#becomes ''i think this creator is scum and that they actively hate certain groups of people''#like this show has been very imperfect but it's kind of laughable to me how bent out of shape people are getting #when compared to the really egregious gross shit that was pulled in GOT #how quickly we forget etc

I think it’s going to be really funny if the Spock we know from TOS is going to be a result of his failed relationship with Chapel. He experimented with human emotions with her and it destroyed(?) him.

SPOCK: The joys of love made her human, and the agonies of love destroyed her.

Because of unsuccessful but powerful love, he decided to embrace his Vulcaness 1000% to the point where he started to feel that he shouldn’t even have friends. Being friends with someone was shameful.

He buried his ability to love. He buried his ability to feel.

KIRK: Will you try for one moment to feel? At least act like you've got a heart. We’re talking about Gary.

SPOCK: If I seem insensitive to what you're going through, Captain, understand it's the way I am.

and it’d be funny if The Naked Time and his interaction with Chapel was what kind of brought him back to accepting some feelings again, which led to him giving in to a hunch in the Galileo Seven, and his ordeal with Pike was almost the finishing line

KIRK: This regrettable tendency you've been showing lately towards flagrant emotionalism...

after that episode you have Spock struggling more and more between logic and emotions.
