You know the Escapologist and Acrobat story from Matilda The Musical?
Now think about it, where have you heard those descriptions before?
I don't know about you but but I think it's just Kaz and Inej fanfiction

Pairing: Jennifer Honey x fem Reader
Warnings: Reader gets called princess and smart girl, Non-sexual Mommy kink.
Summary: Just Miss honey telling you that she is proud.
Proofread: Yes/no
Wordcount: 0.3k
You and your parents never had a great connection and this caused you to seek comfort in others such as Miss Honey. She had taken you under her wing when you were a child and when you heard the school had extended to teach up to college level of course you returned. It hadn’t taken long for you and Miss Honey to connect again but this time in a more intimate way, which is how you end up in her house lying across her lap. Her arms wrapped tightly around you.
“I saw your chemistry exam results” You dreaded hearing those words. Jenny was someone you wanted to impress. You wanted her to see the best side of you.  Chemistry was one of your hardest classes and you were disappointed in the grade you had gotten. “I'm so proud of you” The smile she gives you is so happy. “But I got a B” Tears of frustration gather in your eyes. “It's not the grade that matters is how much effort you put in. I watched you study for hours, that's why I am proud. I am always going to be proud of you as long as you try” Nobody had ever told you that they were proud of you before Jenny.
“Oh sweetheart” She rubs her thumbs under your eyes to collect the tears that had fallen. “ It’s alright.” She pulls you closer and you snuggle into her tears soaking into her dress. “ It's alright princess mommy is here.” Her voice is alway so soft. She is so good and kind you have no idea what you would do without her. “You are my smart girl and I'm so proud of you no matter what grade you get” She leans down and presses a kiss to the tip of your nose. “Now how about we get started on dinner” you no eagerly your exam already forgotten.

ok i just need to hear abt any hot takes you could have for matilda lol
I don’t think I have much? The main one for me is that I think the 2022 movie of the musical is the best version of this story, which I know is sacrilege.
I’m also just going to say it - this applies to more than just Matilda, but I don’t like Quentin Blake’s art style.
Name a fandom or franchise in an ask, and I’ll give you a random hot take I have for it

random incredibly specific opinion time: matilda the musical the movie was really well done but i don't think that the escapologist and acrobat story can be effectively done in any medium but theater. the way in a stage performance it doesn't exactly take place in a flashback or distinct location like in the movie, but in this nebulous space that could be reality or imagination? the way matilda playing the little girl is easily explained by the fact that she's the narrator and so doesn't make the girl being miss honey unbelievable, but it also so clearly and succinctly communicates the way she's finding catharsis in the story? the whole subplot is so elaborate that it seems like it should feel incongruous to the main story and yet it's so visceral and resonates so much with the experience of seeking solace in a story that reflects how things are and how you wish they'd be, and i think a stage production's ability to make the identities of the characters mutable is such a crucial part of that

Before The Pandemic, I was a lighting technician on 'Matilda the Musical'. It was probably the most fun I had in my almost 20yr West End career... anyway, I finally got round to watching the film adaptation and it's absolutely fantastic.
Emma Thompson is chewing the scenery and then some as Miss Trunchball. How has she not won every award?! And the kids...wow. Just wow.
Watch it. Seriously, it's amazing.
Sneaky pic from a rehearsal - the lasers looked especially sexy.

i got thinking about how, when i was younger, Matilda (1996) was a HUGE source of comfort for me, and how i related so much to Matilda, and also how when i first watched the musical on West End i cried during Quiet because it was relatable. i am now being diagnosed with autism. so i got curious
