'...Andrew Scott in “Ripley”
In Steven Zaillian’s riveting Netflix miniseries, shot in sumptuous black-and-white, the Irish actor landed his juiciest role since his mid-career breakout, as the “hot priest” on “Fleabag.” Scott’s Tom Ripley was a clean break from that of Matt Damon; instead of a petulant pretty boy seized by envy and lust, this Ripley was older (Scott is in his late forties) and scarier, a lonesome manipulator with a murderous gleam in his eye. Zaillian, hewing to Patricia Highsmith’s novel, emphasized the sheer labor—often tedious, sometimes comical—involved in covering up a life of homicide and fraud. Scott gave the character a perverse sense of craft, plus the occasional flourish of satisfaction. In a long lineage of Ripleys, he killed it.
Honorable mention: As the mustachioed inspector hot on Ripley’s trail, the Italian actor Maurizio Lombardi was a standout, especially in the show’s final moments, when he realizes how badly he’s been outfoxed...'

Hey, remember back in the summer when Andrew was nominated for a bunch of TV awards for Ripley? Well, one of them was the Astra (presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance) for Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie. The TV Astras were supposed to be presented in August, but were postponed and now apparently got lumped in with the Film Awards, which were December 8.
ANDREW WON, so congratulations!

All of us strangers is movie of the year
The masterpiece that this little piece of cinema is, and the emotional impact still sits with me and will probably not leave me for the rest of my life.
Empire magazine says it’s the best movie of 2024
I couldn’t agree more! On all accounts, from visceral, heartbreaking acting performances by Andrew, Paul, Claire and Jamie to the stunningly beautiful cinematography and of course incredibly moving and beautiful script. It deserves every single word of affirmation and love and appreciation.

It was horribly snubbed by the big accolades, but the immense power and effect this film has on people will never be undermined.

I edited it to add the interview.
This is clearly after Andrew's all sugared up on Haribo.
How does one go about getting a job where Andrew Scott asks you to picture him naked?
Looking forward to those dvd extras.
Here is the whole radio interview that goes with this little clip.

So you may remember seeing these lamps I made, inspired by the movie "All of us Strangers". It got so under my skin that when I returned from my second viewing, I went straight to the pottery, working until the early hours as these came to be...... They are my first piece made from raw emotion that I had to put somewhere outside of myself, or else it would eat me up.
The recognition of myself on the big screen. The abstract of being a queer man so beautifully etched into my being. The griefs unfelt and still to be dealt with.....
They nestle perfectly together but shine even more brightly when apart.....
While making them, I had a fantasy to try and gift them to Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, if they would want them.
A chance meeting with a wonderful woman I know only as Caroline started a chain of events... she honed in on the lamps, and I told the story. One of heartache and love, loss and grief...... I could see that she got it and said "I'm going to help you get them where they need to be"
A group then formed around this intention, and somehow, they have found their way to Andrew, who will take the other half to Paul (once he's done with his tour).
I am so touched that they resonated and were accepted so graciously. They are the thing I am most proud of creating, as my heart led the way, not my head.......
