hey i cant stop thinking about finance or mathematics teacher nanami x art teacher reader and reader is shamelessly eccentric with their bright coloured clothes, some of which they make themselves, their fancy shoes, elaborate hairstyles/head-wraps, odd earrings, a very messy desk (but they know where and what everything is), talkativeness and emotionality with a loud passion for the arts and it’s importance in society…

…and then theres nanami who is…just so different from you. he’s all astute, logical, two or three piece suits, simple, slicked back hair, quiet, neat, believes he fits in, stresses the importance (and sometimes, superiority) of industries and just the subjects of math and finances and economics and everything in between.

and in a way, he stands out like you do, due to your unique shared passion of your favourite subjects and your dedication to teaching such subjects and helping your students to understand their necessity.

too bad the passion you both have for your favoured subjects is the reason for your initial, mutual dislike for one another ;(

Since his mum passed, he’s pretty much just been on his own. “Do you—” Dream starts, suddenly hesitant. “I did not ask if you preferred to be alone today.” In fact, Hob really, really doesn’t want to be alone today, but admitting that with its true fervor feels… desperate. He can be alone. He can handle it, has handled it. But. He takes Dream’s hand. “I was alone today last year,” he says. “And the year before, when she passed. I planned her funeral by myself, and still there was almost no one to come.” Frankly it’s a miracle he didn’t drop out of school then, now that he thinks about it. Dream looks stricken. “I did not mean—” “There’s nothing I want more than for you to be here.” Please. I don’t want to be alone again. Dream’s anxious expression slowly subsides. “…Oh.” Then he looks tentatively pleased. Hob leans his head against his shoulder again. Dream wraps an arm around him, with some hesitance at first, then, growing bolder, he tugs Hob in so Hob is leaning fully against him, half in his lap with his face pressed against Dream’s throat. It’s… nice. It’s really nice.

If 1 is no longer considered a prime number because it basically leads to infinite prime factorization, why is it still included in writing out factorials? Barring it from prime factorization because it's infinite, you'd think they'd bar it from any other multiplicative problems, right?

hi! i'm severely dyscaluliac, and i absolutely adore all of your work, but i'm struggling so hard to figure out the maths behind the prey calorie to feeding cats thing. i understand that if the calorie amount is over 350, it'll feed more than one cat, but i don't have a bloody clue how to figure out how many specifically. Do i have to divide the calorie amount by the 350? Input would be greatly appreciated, apologies for the dyscaluliac rambling, i've been at this for an hour and i have a headache.

OH HEY, I also have dyscalculia! I'm always coming up with ways to help myself visualize this sort of thing. I've got you bro.

Think of 350 like a container for a single cat. Every day you have to fill 350 calories for that individual. Since 350 is just 50 seven times, you can make a beaker with seven notches.

(It always helps me to break things down into multiples of 5 and estimate around them.)

So, when you "fill" this beaker with 350 calories, your warrior is fed! The spillover from a full beaker can feed another cat.

So, if your food item was 400 (350 + 50) calories, that feeds one cat and fills up a single notch on the next "beaker." Whenever you have a big food item, you can subtract 350 from it until you reach a number below 350. When you divide a number by 350, that's what it's doing.

So if you had 3,500 / 350, your answer is 10. You can feed ten cats. 350 goes into 3,500 ten times.

When it's not a "clean" division and you have all the jumbled numbers at the end, like 3,600 / 350 = 10.285714, just pay attention to the first number after the period. It feeds 10.2 cats. The .2 means the eleventh cat is 20% fed.

Whenever you need to figure out how much food a group will need, take the population of the group, and multiply by 350.

If you have 3 cats in the group, that equation is 3 x 350. I punched that right into a calculator, and got 1,050. You need 1,050 calories to feed three cats.

Though, also remember how this functionally plays out.

If your cats are eating whole prey, it's not like Dudeheart is going to eat everything except the tail to minmax caloric efficiency. He's going to eat the whole thing. These sorts of calculations apply best to a Clan that's making soup or has someone doling out rations.

But, anyway, try making drawings to help visualize it, if it doesn't make sense. I hope this helps-- these are the hints that I use when numbers aren't making sense in my head.

my top controversial Zim headcanon is that Zim actually performs absurdly well at skool because

1. he's a perfectionist with a compulsive reaction to ANY system of scoring

2. I 100% believe test scores are this guy's forte because he had to become an Invader SOMEHOW and he sure as hell wasn't passing based on the practical

3. He has hyper-advanced alien AI to do his homework for him. like come on.

meanwhile Dib is really only scraping by on raw intelligence and the inherent educational advantage of having a mad scientist father. He doesn't have TIME to study, there's an evil alien he has to stalk and besides, you know what's better than a high school diploma? The Nobel Peace Prize for proving the existence of extraterrestrial life.

It's very unclear! But Alfonse's "It's been at least 10 years since Sharena was a child" line is a rough estimate itself. I feel like it could place Sharena anywhere to 18 to 20 when she joined the Order of Heroes (this is just my headcanon though, based on what's typical irl -- there's also a possibility that in Askr, the age you're considered "an adult" is different, but that's also speculation)

But if Sharena was anywhere from 18 to 20 when she joined the Heroes, and granting that a few years have passed to get to Book 4. Maybe 22? 24? At oldest? If every book is a year. Which in that case!

Yeah she could be at this point actually 🤔 Or maybe 26.

And really you can throw any random number at Alfonse like. I kinda hc he's 3 years older than her, if not 4. They do seem close in age, but far enough that Alfonse has always felt more "grown up" to her (possibly by the way he was treated/raised, many possibilities). But going off those numbers, he could be 29 or 30ish current Book, if we're going w Sharena being 26 (makes me wonder if his Brave alt is gonna make him look "more mature"... like his portrait always read as young adult to me, but I wonder if he'll be a little less baby faced.)
