these sketches have not left my mind since i saw them because the way the subplot with zara and illario was just dropped is genuinely insane

we know from the wigmaker job that zara was after lucanis because of his work as the demon of vyrantium. it's not mentioned if she already knew illario at this point and it doesn't appear as if illario was out for lucanis' neck already. sure, he was frustrated that lucanis was the favorite but he jokingly introduced himself as "master dellamorte the lesser" and when he asks about caterina it seems like illarios anger was directed at caterina, not lucanis. the illario we see in wigmaker job and the wake does NOT seem like the illario in the game.

and that change is just... dropped? not adressed at all.

we legit never find out why illario switched up on lucanis, how he met zara, what the nature of his relationship is with zara (which knowing that she is an old blood mage who uses the blood of her slaves to get rid of stretchmarks, i think we can guess)

these scenes were so very needed, because illario is a fascinating character and to have him be the shifty, jealous cousin does not seem enough, especially after we saw an entirely different illario in the other material he was in

Erik telling Rogue about him and Charles being in each other’s thoughts and never seeing it as an invasion of privacy only creating the helmet after their break up convincing himself he needed it and never refuting Rogue’s assessment of his possible worry that Charles’ love for him would have deterred his crusade. Then he proceeds to make the moves on her. What an unserious man.

I get that the fandom likes to compare Mary and Tilda bc of how they were both abusive towards Neil and Aaron respectively and how Neil and Aaron still love them but there definitely are some huge differences.

I think that in canon Tilda treated Aaron like he wasn’t particularly wanted whereas both Mary and Neil knew that Neil was Mary’s whole life. I think the main difference is the level of priority in which they treat their sons Tilda acts as though she doesn’t care about Aaron whereas Neil is fully aware his mother prioritized his survival over literally everything else.

I also think of how they influenced their sons. I think of Mary as like a shadow version of Neil someone who Neil has a lot in common with and similar backgrounds but ultimately if Neil ended up like Mary it would be incredibly dark and bad. Aaron is like Tilda’s antithesis. someone who is deeply loyal to family (holding on to Andrew and Nicky, still loving Tilda) and very hardworking and dedicated wants to be better than where he came from. Neil still uses the skills he got from Mary and ending up like Tilda is Aaron’s worst nightmare.

U know what aftg mothers should be compared more often though Cass and Maria.

phil was reading this at the end of the london ditl (13:44). i think he's mentioned other stephen king books before too (if anyone remembers any instances, lmk <3)

this is the book phil bought during festive ditl (6:54, 17:40). afaik he didn't mention it any time after this, but he started reading the book in the video and said it was really good so far

dnp mentioned this was the book both of them most recently read at their frankfurt preshow (18:44)! phil also recommended it when i asked him for book recs at my m&g <3 i finished it a couple weeks back, and it was incredibly good

i love how annie and mary did all that for no reason. being completely serious here i think it’s so funny that they decided to mess with ed and stede and ignore ed’s comfort and laugh at ed when he was having an emotionally intimate moment just for shits and gigs. like arguably even jack was more justified in being a prick bc he was supposed to be driving this wedge between ed and stede so he could get ed out of there before the british showed up, annie and mary just did all that bc they were bored. i fucking love them. i’ve had enough of female characters always being the emotionally mature ones i love that these girls get to be a fucking toxic messy disaster dragging everyone down with them.

something i keep thinking about is who mary is to sam. she didn't raise him; he doesn't know her except through the stories john and dean told him. she exists in pictures and print, not in memories. she's a stranger to him, yet his entire life has revolved around her. he seeks revenge for a woman he's never met or known or loved. she's just a secondhand god to a nonbeliever, omnipresent but never actually there, never actually touched or held or shared. he's outside the church looking in on the mass but never able to partake. it must be alienating, for your family to have known god while you're left only to your own faith.
