ACL HITS 50: Black Pumas (Feb. 20), Junas (March 4), Gary Clark Jr. (March 26) and Brittany Howard (April 29) are the first four performers slated to tape episodes for “Austin City Limits’” 50th season on public television.

Broadcast times and additional tapings will be announced for what is being called “a yearlong celebration saluting five decades of iconic (Sound Bites hates that word) performances.”

POSTHUMOUS NEIL PEART BOOK COMING: “Silver Surfers,” a posthumous coffee table book from Neil Peart documenting his love of sports cars, will be published in May with some of the proceeds benefitting the Neil Peart Memorial at Lakeside Park and the American Brain Tumor Association.

Peart died in 2020.

HELLO YELLOW BRICK ROAD: Elton John will document his final tour with the Sept. 24 publication of new book titled “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life on Tour.”

CHICAGO GOES ON RANT: Members of Chicago will contribute music to the forthcoming - no release date - film “Man Goes on Rant.”

Beating out the Hero Worship. The weapon? Being a child therapist / relationship Councelor to your colleagues (who may or may not be going through midlife crisis)

So I love the prompts where the Wisdom of Solomon makes Captain Marvel a defacto Therapist and Relationship Councelor (family, romantic or otherwise) to his very adult coworkers. It’s especially funny when they think Billy is an adult. Billy is very much a child. A child who is giving these sad adults free therapy. Honestly if being a child hero wasn’t enough, the amount of work he has to put into his colleagues well-being should in itself be child labour.

Black Canary, who has been the Therapist, is the only one who can relate to the struggle. Sometimes they even share notes. Well, Billy is, Dinah is here for the gossip. Bring in Barbara, and they got themselves a girls night.

Saying "Good morning" and "Have a nice day" is polite and shows the receiver that you value, respect, and care about their well-being. The same with "How was your day?" and "Sleep tight. Happy dreams." Those phrases, so seemingly simplistic and rote, carry emotional and social weight. The phrases unobtrusively show that you are genuinely interested in the other person and their livelihood. I don't know about you, but I think we could all use more polite and genuine around here ...

the company i work for decided that its switching from the german formal "You"(Sie) to the informal "you" (Du) in all of our websites so now we have to scour the entire database to change it and i quite frankly hate that, not just bc the unecessary extra work but especially bc its such a weird and unecessary change

i bet its bc everything here is getting englishfied (both literally and culturally it feels like, when my new boss talks its half in english bc every second german word is just replaced by an english one despite there being perfectly fine words for it in german too, its so annoying) and bc they want to sound more personal in hopes of getting more clients bc 'company is your fwiend uwu!!', i know this here is the amercian tm site so you wouldnt understand really but i do not want to be greeted with 'du' by companies, no, thats too personal, you dont know me and im not giving you my data, stay away!!

i guess thats how i would describe it .. the formal you is like a polite distance, like someone you dont know staying outside your personal space, but when its the informal 'you' it feels invasive unless i told you you can call me that, and that goes double for companies

I clicked on that wikipedia link you posted for H. fleischmanni and was surprised to see that the section talking about the frog’s natural predators was titled “enemies” instead of “predators.” The word “enemies,” at least to me, seems strange in this context because it seems to anthropomorphize the frogs, which as far as I’m aware is something zoologists try to avoid doing with animals. Is there a scientific reason for “enemies” to be used here, as opposed to “predators”?

Regrettably, a huge number of problems of this kind have been built into Wikipedia by the Wikipedia Education Foundation-supported courses. And even after MK was becoming slowly more and more convinced that Wukong was the "bad guy", he still lost his shit after Azure wouldn't give Monkey King back to him. Like, he did not care. Can’t stop thinking about Disco’s character designs in general but also specifically about how caricature esque the two main characters are designed and how on purpose that is.

Harry looks like every middle aged alcoholic man I’ve ever met. My uncle is almost his spitting image. He looks like someone you’d meet on the street or at the pub or the grocery store and you wouldn’t think twice about. He’s so painfully human and so painfully average that he sees himself reflected in almost every single person he meets in game. And to top it all off he’s a complete blank slate. He really *could* be any of them.

Kim looks so stereotypically Asian that, despite only being half Seolite on both sides, he cannot escape the racism that comes with his heritage. No matter how hard he separates himself from that part of him he’ll never be able to avoid that it’s the first thing people see when they look at him. It’s to the point that he’s *proud* of how distanced he is from that history because of how much pain it’s brought him.

I think Q!Slime deserves to snap, or–at the very least–be bitter.

It is insane how the other members of the other members have been treating him, ever since he lost his daughter. Mocking him, ridiculing him, bringing him back over and over again to that moment. Gods forbid, however, he does the same for a second, asking the–perfectly rational, by the way–question of whether or not the eggs are actually okay. Everyone knows JuanaFlippa is different from the other eggs, being brought back a few times now. And even Slime doesn’t know this but the other residents of the island suspect that Juana is code and trying to infect him. They know she’s different as well, so the question isn't insane.

Wilbur openly poked him, calling him a Misclicker but as soon as he brings up that valid point of Tallulah maybe not being okay, he snaps. (Also this hypocrite was yelling at Phil for not doing anything? Oh my gods.) Bad brought up Flippa’s death and Charlie’s mistakes and failures every chance he got and gave him an egg named after his dead daughter during his fucking breakdown. I’m aware that he’s a demon and maybe that contributes to the fact that he has harshly different standards of what’s okay, but that is an insane action to jump to. When your egg is alive, it’s a lot easier to mock those with dead children, isn’t it?

No one is even remotely attempting to help him with the Code Virus.

They are laughing, and they are pointing it out, but no one is doing anything. Each and every one of them knows that Charlie will be stubborn if they tell him it’s Flippa. Denial is his favorite stage of grief and he’s hardly left it since he first got on this island. But that doesn’t change the fact that people know something is wrong and no one has tried to help other than a brief, “Are you okay?” Or an “Are you feeling alright?”

Clearly not!!

I’m not saying he was a perfect saint, and I’m not saying he’s never done anything wrong. For a while, he was a terrible parent. But he was trying to change, and even succeeding in a few aspects. He loved his girl and was trying to change for her, even before she died for the first time. 

Each time he had something taken from him, he got worse. 

Every time his daughter died, Mariana left, Tilín’s death, everything makes him worse. 

No one tried to help him then, and no one is trying to help him now. 

He is far from perfect, but he hardly deserves the endless amounts of suffering he’s been subjected to, not many people do.

A person is deteriorating, decaying, being eaten alive from the inside out in front of each of the island’s residents. People are watching decomposition happen in real time, mentally and physically. In the mental aspect, they’ve been watching it happen for months.

I hope Charlie goes full corrupt and eats all their asses.

Y'know what? Not even that!

I hope he goes full corrupt and they have to lock him up or contain him somehow because he becomes a danger to others or a contamination issue. 

Maybe he drags himself around the island, voice hollow and teeming with glitch after tic after error.

Perhaps the Federation could step in and drag him away kicking and screaming desperately for his daughter, wailing and sobbing for anyone to listen and save him, forgive him.

He could lose all concept of his humanity, entirely a shell of his former self, and every person he speaks to can hardly find his soul behind his eyes until he sees Flippa. Not even José cheers him up anymore. The only light in his eyes is the unnatural green gleam against his now dull blue eyes when his gaze meets Flippa’s.

And I hope that–no matter what–every member of Quesadilla Island has to come to terms with the fact that they did nothing to help a suffering, mentally tortured friend, and now there’s a chance that they’ll never get him back.
