thinking about the Charlie's birthday stream. not the ending, no, we think about that too much. no I think about everything else:

the happiness, the joy, the warmth of it all for nearly two full hours

the lack of mob spawns that night because it’s Charlie's birthday and he has eggs with him. how intentional it is. how funny it is and how sad it makes me because its so considerate

thinking about Tallulah by Charlie's side the whole time, diligently leading him from item to item as his little "guardian angel". Charlie trying to be a good tio and falling a little short sometimes, accidentally leaving Tallulah behind when she crashes but still trying cause that’s his sobrina. how she has to actually hit him to get his attention and how bad she must feel but it's so fucking funny each time

(how can anyone blame him when he never gets to hang out with the eggs enough to know he should wait for her? Charlie had Juanaflippa for what- 10 days? and was practically shunned by several others and himself from interacting with other eggs after his action, which is understandable, but only for so long. can they not see how he plays with the eggs? hear how soft his voice gets around them? don't the other islanders understand?)

this is maybe the longest he's gotten to hang out with tallulah since he got his backpack. Wilbur is his best friend and this was the egg he left behind. He's still learning and Tallulah still loves him despite it. Two people missing someone dearly, yet they have each other even if it's hard to realize

thinking about "Maybe Tallulah, you were the gift. I think you're the gift, Tallulah."

thinking about Richas, his nephew because Charlie has Mike, an actual brother that is equally excited to see him time and time again. A nephew coming around with the slime head and slime balls, like a mini Charlie, who is decked out in a full ghillie suit. Charlie who plays with the egg, pretending to be a spooky monster and richas playing along and getting scared

thinking about Charlie not knowing how to use the ghillie suit properly so he's still clearly visible to the eggs, yet they act like he isn't for his sake. shepherding him around from place to place because charlie is a little clueless yeah (he's in exile, go easy on him), but they are patient and happy to "tag along" and let him lead

thinking about them all taking a picture with him in the school, charlie wanting one with both of them, something to remember the day by.

thinking about how charlie is clearly loved by the eggs, his huevos, and how he clearly loves them back and is trying to be better for them even if he struggles so much

thinking about Charlie Slimecicle on his birthday, for once happy after everything he's been through, Tallulah and Richarlyson by his side

just him, his sobrina, and his nephew on a little scavenger hunt under the stars while the rest of the server remains quiet and calm. asleep while they remain lively

Back In The Ol' Days [2014] we had the punk/nerd AU... but I have my gripes with the PNAU; it feels outdated to me. In 2014 I ate that shit up, but it's 2024 and the rampant micro-trends have me re-thinkin modern Hijack portrayals...

So here I am to propose a new PNAU: Grunge X Emo.

Hiccup as a cozy grunge kind of guy- basically just classic comfy casual clothes but with earthy tones, ripped up jeans covered in motor oil stains, and loose flannel shirts over worn-out tees.

Jack as a casual emo kind of guy- Skinny jeans with rips (often on the end of the legs cause they annoy them when they're too long), tight band tees, and his classic hoodie he can disappear into the shadowy hood of to sulk.

I think it could be fun to explore the way Hiccup has a ton of hand-me-downs and spends a lot of time patching up old clothes, or adding custom painted patches to his bags. Maybe he knows how to sew just from patching/mending. I like that in the movies we see him doing bith heavy work in the forge, and having gentle hands as an artist. I think he'd be good at a ton of different diy skills and put them to practical use with his wardrobe.

In canon, Hiccup does have a lot of leftist and punk ideology; The Edge is literally equal-ownership equal-imput everyone else just decides he runs the show. And he literally changes the dominant mindset of the society he lives in to better the life of both his people and the ones they've been at war with for decades. Hes pretty punk... but I don't see him going so far aesthetically as to be a full Spiky Punk TM. He's always on the move, working on something, or chilling outside with Toothless, so I think a more casual comfortable style suits him. Though I do think he would like jackets with extra straps and buckles on the pockets and stuff, and maybe a good belt bag + leatherman combo. Totally the type to always have a pocket knife. He'd paint himself patches and slap a few of em on his bags, coats, maybe over that burn hole in his jeans that's been annoying him. He'd favor practicality over aesthetic, but he still has a sense of style. As he gets older he probably leans into the edgier style, wearing more black and red combos, more strappy belts/coats/bags, and even gets a few tattoos. But I do see him as a grungey earthy engineering guy with comfy, often oversized silhouettes.

Jack I could see being super impulsive and latching onto pop culture; something emos were notorious for. I, personally, was clamoring for a branded tee shirt the moment I deemed a band good enough to youtube->mp3 to my ipod. I could see Jack doing that kind of thing, and latching onto this misunderstood invisible-yet-visibly-different identity. He probably favors dark blue, brown, and black. Deffinitely the type to get on the colored jeans trend when it hit. Maybe he even doodles little swirling patterns on his clothes when he's bored- an adhd habit I know all too well.

Without being, yanno, dead, Jack's Different Look would probably come just from him wanting to express himself. He feels isolated and finds it hard to make lasting friends because when people *do* notice him, they tend to see him more as a silly little jester than a person worth getting to know. He copes with humor and trying to get attention every now and again but ends up with a closer knit group of oddballs. He's good with kids, of course, and tends to take on a cool-big-brother to anyone in need of one. All of this playing into this casual and easy-going but edgy, kinda emo look. He probably listens to sad emo music while sitting on a roof, staring at the moon, contemplating his purpose in life. He pretty much does that in his movie so it isn't much of a stretch lol.

Anyways, feel free ro give your 2 cents and build onto or off of this as you please, I'm just brainstorming I guess. Thinkin aloud... visually. I tend to like psychoanalyzing characters and it's interesting to me to think of Hic & Jack's canon portrayals and what they would mean in a modern-human AU.

In Murderbot diaries in "Fugitive telemetry" book there's these several lines about people in the socialist country?(planet) having "a weird thing about things like food, water, medication, ect. people need to survive being available to everyone" and there's just fridges full of free food everywhere in public spaces.

And it makes it even more obvious that in corporation Rim(capitaist country? federation?), these things are artificially scarce and they are used as a way to control people. It is not mentioned directly, but strongly implied. Because the cost of producing food for interstellar humanity would be tiny in comparison to spaceships, space station, terraforming fancy tech or like. Even fuel costs.

And yet it is not uncommon in the book for people to sell their labour for 40+ years with payoff in the end and usually poor conditions(slavery basically, and Murderbot mentions "it was probably the best option they had", so the alternative was probably dying of hunger), or even signing themselves away perpetually(Again, LITERALLY slavery).

Obviously, nobody should be barred from basic needs when they are actually so easy to provide that they can be available to everyone. I think the political meaning is that, capitalism needs to go if not now, but at least eventually, when hunger will have no reason to remain a problem, since relying on artificially making these things scarce to maintain a position of power is unacceptable.

I wonder if inflatable pool floats, in their waxing moments as they are blown up by their new owners for the first time, would wonder or hope that they will have a certain life. I wonder how they'd feel about a life spent at a pool with a family who has kids that are a little too rough, only living that one glorious day in the sun before being punctured, thrown away, and forgotten. Would they feel satisfied, having served their purpose? Would they feel hurt? Wasted? Treated cruelly?

If a pool toy finds themselves in the hands of a kinder person, maybe an adult who would use them on vacations and summer spa days, would that be better? Would there be a fullness felt in those months or years of existence before the inevitable seam split dooms them to the landfill, being situationally cared for until then but still receiving care nonetheless?

And if they are purchased and inflated by a pooltoy collector or enthusiast, someone who has an emotional connection to them? What then? Is that the love they'd all seek? That level of care and respect? They weren't designed with it in mind, but isn't it natural for all of us to desire to be more that what we were "made" for?

Is it not a disgrace then that so many pool floats end up discarded, their purpose as things served but their potential as vessels for connection stifled? Is that not tragedy?

If there were a God that pooltoys pray to as they are filled with life for the very first time, what life would they want that God to have them live? What kind of touch would they pray for?

i kind of love when characters accidentally take part in courting rituals or other unfamiliar habits/traditions. something innocuous to them but is like a ring or declaration of devotion or love to the other

in other words: Étoiles keeps giving Charlie bones

he gets them all the time from dungeons and casual mob slaying around the island, and while he keeps a handful for bone meal, he really doesn’t need to rest so he usually trashes them. then he runs into Charlie one day, desperately trying to fend off some shots from a few skeletons, dragging himself behind a tree with a broken leg. étoiles kills the skeletons quickly and when he gets back to charlie, he's bemoaning about his leg and how that was his last good femur.

étoiles just watches him, gears turning in his head before he jogs back to the slain skeletons and digs for what he hopes are femurs, but cut him some slack, his bones stay in his body like they are supposed to. he goes back to charlie and just holds the array of bones out with a simple "Here."

Charlie just stares, mouth open and closing like a fish. Étoiles would feel nervous that maybe he did something wrong but this dude can't even walk right now and it's kind of sad, in a "Oh this guy is poor" kind of way. so he'd be doing étoiles a favor by taking the bones, even if he's not happy about it. He's not gonna just leave charlie here, stuck

Charlie eventually takes the bones. well, he takes the femur as he absentmindly identifies the other ones and étoiles, who know jack shit about bones, stays for a bit while Charlie swaps the bones out. they parted ways after étoiles checked the others gear which-problem for later.

it was a brief interaction but it hadn't left étoiles, even a week later when he's at another dungeon. Instead of tossing the remaining bones this time, he holds onto them. Meets up with charlie under the guiese of checking his armor but also wants to see if he needs to refresh any of his bones because he just got some more and charlie does that thing where he just stares,

and god étoiles just keeps doing it, keeps collecting and cleaning and sorting through bones becuase it helps his bro out right? His very funny bro that makes him laugh so hard he's going to throw up and is actually really smart. Who teaches étoiles to make a better bone meal, thinking it's for plants when it's actually for étoiles and oh why does he feel so hot all of a sudden

i thought i was being publicly miscredited for making an art piece during an assembly today, so i started screaming "I DIDNT DRAW THAT I DIDNT DRAW THAT" meanwhile the lady in charge is still pointing in my general direction and making eye contact which just reaffirmed that she was talking about me.

turns out she wasn't. she was pointing to a girl in the first row, as opposed to me who was standing all the way in the back. apparently some other people in the room also believed she was pointing at me. but there was a simple thing she could've done to clear things up from the start.

One headcanon/idea I love and will hold unto is that the Idols in every Splatoon game have a different kind of relationship:

Squid Sisters - Sisterly, obviously. They annoy one another but they love eachother, and treat one another like ideal siblings (annoying but very supportive and loving)

Off the Hook - Lesbians. They are gay your honour, totally in love. I don’t really need to convince anyone, do I?

Deep Cut - Chaotic Childhood friends. They canonically have been friends since middle school, becoming a music group and friend group, as well as being roommates. They clash a lot and annoy eachother, but it’s all playful and they would beat up anyone who hurts their friend. They’re like team rocket, with big gay solidarity vibes lol

((Like I get Shiver/Frye and Deep Cut poly shippers, I see you, but I must disagree. I like them wayyy more as a platonic group, laughing and having fun as they play turf battles or watch a movie at home. ))

Idk I feel like it makes every group feel even more unique, with future Idols maybe going with at-odds relationships or co-workers to friends vibes. The possibilities are endless!!

Hear me out. I've been watching the episodes of the 80s cartoon show Rainbow Brite. In episodes 1 and 2, you can safely assume she's a magical human child in outer space, right? Then comes episode 3! In episode 3, she interacts with a human boy from Earth, and he looks completely different from RB and the color kids. He's taller, thinner, more normally proportionate, smaller head. So, if THAT'S what humans look like in RB's universe, she and the Color Kids clearly aren't human! So what are they? I think they're Space Dwarves! They're built shorter and wider than human children. They have magic powers. They live on another planet that connects to Earth through the use of rainbows. They mine crystals with the sprites. They're SPACE DWARVES!

For writing purposes (and mine own curiosity) what do you think Truth (FMA/B) is?

I think Truth is simultaneously a contradiction and not. It explains that It is All and One, the Universe, God, You, Me, Itself, and Everything. My mind takes that a bit further.

In my mind, Truth is All and Nothing, Black and White, Good and Evil, Space and Time, Everywhere and Nowhere, Me and You and Itself while also not being Anything but also being Everything.

Truth is a not-being that is All Powerful and yet completely Powerless. It represents humans' wants and fears.

Truth is All. Truth is Nothing.

Truth is the law all humans abide by, but It is also the law all humans ignore.
