Back on my bs about the Epic characters and what tarot major arcana card they would be :D This one is about the fandom's sunshine boy; Polites!

Polites to me would be the death card!

Now the death card is my favorite cause it's an outlier by itself, a lot of people when they see the death card think it's a bad omen but it's a really good omen!

Actually if you get the death card in a reading it's a major game changer cause it shows you what needs to be fixed depending on the situation or if there are any good changes in a situation that you're not aware of.

Now because we don't have much about Polites cause my boy only has one song, a cut song, and very few camos in the musical, a lot of this is really just based on headcanons, but I just think it's neat to have Polites as 'hey, everything will be fine I'll show you how and why' and 'hey, I see something is wrong in this situation-' Especially because his whole character from the fandom understanding is optimistic and caring.

Actually I was yapping with @dylbobaggins168 in a discord server we're both in and they word my thoughts beautifully; "they’ve (Odysseus and crew) literally been at war for 10 years, haven’t come across any other big dangers yet, and polites is basically trying to go “hey! i know we’re used to fighting all the time but that’s not how the world usually is! not every encounter with others is a battle! i can see you’ve carefully built this wall around yourself over the last 10 years of war but let me help you bring it down! it doesn’t need to be completely gone but if you lower it a little then you might be able to see the good that still remains in this world despite all the bad stuff that we know exists because we’ve experienced some of it!”

And with the death card, in the upright position it's the end of cycles, change, beginnings, and metamorphosis, while reversed is fear of change, holding on, stagnation, decay.

So yes, this is my take on why I think Polites' card would be the death card. On God, I was debating against him being the sun or death, but I do think death fits him more. Might edit this at a later date, but the YAP session is over lol

Sometimes I think about that one meme I saw about Poseidon keeping it a secret that he got beat by Odysseus in the musical from the other gods and it makes me laugh all over again. Like you just KNOW the other gods would clown his ass for like a good week before letting it go, cause that shit is hilarious

Whenever I’m sad I think about that scene in the odyssey where odysseus sees achilles, patroclus and antilochus frolicking in the asphodel fields together and then I am reminded that love and joy is real

I was talking to a mutual on a epic the musical agere discord channel, and they was talking about if there was a EPIC themed tarot deck, who will be what in the deck.

I took the liberty to try to list every character and who I think will be in terms of the major arcana deck.

Ok so the Fool card would be Odysseus; you can *argue* polites can fit it but Odysseus imo is better, because in the upright position it means innocence, new beginnings and free spirit, while reverse (negative) is recklessness, taken advantage of, and inconsideration.

Odysseus pretty much fits all of that (kinda??), with him believing if he stuck with Polites' open arms he'd get his way while Athena and Poseidon tried to teach him he needs ruthlessness as well to succeed; naivety and innocence aren't the same but they are synonyms so I'll take that- New beginnings is literally just him learning how to be a monster and balancing ruthlessness and open arms, also his journey from Troy to Ithaca, free spirit is just me bsing with Odysseus just being Odysseus- my brain died a little for a reason for that.

Negatively, he was pretty reckless in not killing Polyphemus, not checking if someone lives in Polyphemus's cave before going in with his crew and staying up for 9 days (I know why he stayed up but doesn't negate bro could've died from sleep deprivation at literally ANY point in that week). Also battling Circe alone and trusting Hermes with the moly. He does get taken advantage of sometimes being a plaything with the gods; you can say he got taken advantage of by his crew, who waited until he was asleep to open the windbag. As well as, he was inconsiderate in not taking Eury worries seriously and just brushing them aside/shutting them down when he is literally his second and act as the voice for his crew.

So yeah that's who I think would fit the fool card and this isn't to say my thoughts are correct, I'm just having fun with this since I love tarot!
