and they were singin', bye-bye Miss American Pie // american oldie i think kuwabara unironically listens to
(low effort lyric edit im queueing here in May cos im probably gonna forget it exists otherwise)
#qeued post#for June cos hey pride#the idea of kuwa seeing his friends in a holy almost godly light namely yusuke#and having them all leave unexpectedly#cos before that night at Genkai's i feel like it was solidified in kuwa's brain DESPITE the sidekick complex#DESPITE the fact that he's human and the least powerful member they are still decidedly a team#A team he has a place on. But then all suddenly springing this... YUSUKE springing this departure on him. shatters that belief#yusuke says he'll be back and it seems to make things better but even so kuwabara's face still looks so solemn when he leaves#Likely cos he knows yusuke is just saying shit and doesn't even know if it's possible to come back#this wasn't supposed to be a kuwameshi post it's really not but there's always that undertone when i talk about them so#He just admires them all so much yusuke above all others only to be left behind and that's gotta fuckin hurt#The way we don't see the resolution to this feeling. The lack of belonging the abandonment#next time we see him he's just supposed to be over it but we don't really know if it actually happened#So I like to play with the idea of like . Did he really like healthily accept things or#did he just repress it and deal. Cos like eng dub he tells yusuke ''forget all that stuff I said'' immediately taking back#his harsh words bc it's either stay mad stay upset or quickly forgive and move on cos this could be the last time. or even the jdub#where he doesn't even allow the vulnerability to show enough to trail off he just spouts the normal shit bc it's what they DO he immediatel#tries to get back to the normal dynamic and push himself to being fine with it right now bc he doesn't have the luxury of being upset#when it doesn't matter cos yusuke's leaving. the last thing he hears from him shouldnt be reckless shit he was saying when he lashed out#aka i dont think kuwa's feelings get seriously addressed enough and this episode haunts me cos of that very fact#Im not making any sense. Nico as my witness I swear I was more eloquent yapping to him about it#kuwabara kazuma#yu yu hakusho#kuwameshi

this convo hitting so different if ur a lolth drow like minthara
Tumblr media
#ntm shri'iia's initial fear at the start (and what lead her to eventually break her oath (accidentally!!)) was her getting hatecrimed#bc she's a drow. bc she's been told how much the surfacers hate her kind and how they are the Enemy#like if surfacers are scared and wary of lolth drows bc of what they do up there i think they'd be scared and wary of surfacers too bc of#what they've been made to believe in. and the fact that kindness or anything Good generally does not Exist or is very scarce in their#society so getting treated better is something that doesn't come to mind (more so for shri'iia bc she was raised in the Braeryn where#the drow nobles go down there to terrorize the poor people. like i dont think she had that luxury or chance to experience goodwill UNTIL sh#was dropped off in the surface and was given the benefit of the doubt -> which is more than what she expected or what she was given before#but anyway that convo where minty says they begin to see you in the same light probably ‼️‼️ alarmed her#bc i think she's only starting to become comfortable and safe around other people. like this is early act 3 shri'iia too#it does take her a long time to get accustomed to other people and let her guard down. then minty says something like that and i think it'l#set her off. like she's gonna start getting paranoid again. then vampire abduction happens the next night she's like OUP.#takes the astral tadpole out of her own fear and paranoia bc she's had that belief that having power and strength will make her feel safe#(it does not.) it's the same reason why she took the tadpole in act 1 in the first place#since she takes it after breaking her oath and feeling like she's significantly weaker. shri'iia can't feel like she's lacking in anything#ever she needs that security net that she's strong enough or capable enough and she needs others to know that about herself too she's too#insecure. and i think having two instances where her paranoia gets ticked off will push her to take the astral tadpole. like its#really out of impulse. and i think part of her oathbreaker arc is her learning how to tame that paranoia too and just generally learning#how to feel comfortable and safe. but anyway. thats part of the reason why i like minty#to be the one who gets kidnapped hehe. second part is the toxic yuri of it all 🤤🤤🤤#shut up about bg3.

thinking about superheroes unfortunately
#random thoughts#let me daydream about batman in peace#love the dynamic between spiderman and deadpool#it's that kind of dynamic i love where two people have power over each other in different ways#like spiderman is a well-loved public figure and deadpool's idol while deadpool is a dangerous mercenary with regeneration powers#physically deadpool probably outmatches spiderman through sheer dogged perseverance#while in the public eye spiderman is more well-liked AND deadpool is feverishly obsessed with him#i'm gonna keep forgetting the hyphen between spider and man btw fuck the world#loving the idea of a spiderman who KNOWS deadpool can do better and believes in him while deadpool gives him a space where HE can be himsel#like spiderman has so many masks he has to put on around other people#i think deadpool should be one of the few people he can truly let himself loose around#yknow before he can get to a point where he can reveal he's peter parker#also i think peter parker in his ideal state suffers from severe identity and self confidence issues#like he thinks spiderman is a seperate persona he puts on which is superior to himself in every way#(okay seperate thought: DID spiderman. the spider bite being so traumatic it led to him creating a split personality to cope.)#(or separate. whatever.)#also age difference. peter should be in his mid-twenties while deadpool should be in his thirties. need more power imbalance#also they're both sa survivors and their personalities could be interpreted as them handling it in vastly different ways#with deadpool being hypersexual and spiderman being flirtatious yet distant and peter parker being borderline celibate#though honestly i could leave spiderman being an sa survivor given it was a whole 'gay people are all predators' psa#also i think spiderman should have been held back in high school. due to struggles relating to being spiderman#so he graduated late and now he's going to community college#peter parker has the luxury of going incognito. wade wilson will always be stared at no matter what he's wearing#deadpool who every superhero hates. spiderman who every superhero organization is trying to recruit desperately#also i think peter should admire wade. physically. built like a brick shithouse that one#also the third act low point CAN'T be about spiderman feeling guilty because deadpool kills people#okay? it's overdone. we've seen it. it's lame#i prefer when their opposing views on murder are treated in a more 'death penalty or no' way rather than assuming deadpool is always wrong#because spiderman's idyllic 'people can change' beliefs can be just as wrong as deadpool's 'assholes deserve to die' beliefs#and spiderman has definitely killed people are you kidding me. both accidentally and on purpose

It's really fascinating to me that Neo-Victorians seem to propagate heavily in spaces that are Victorian era-built. They are more likely to live in places that don't require cars.
Twentian culture heavily exists downstream of Twentian foundational technology, and Twentian society is held together so much by wings and wheels. Now, there is probably some correlation/causation stuff here and I could be doing a false pattern match.
But I really, genuinely believe that so many social shapes and values are downstream of infrastructure. It's fascinating that Victorian values are so often anti-car and yet the Firstians in their ecosystem often require cars to make a living delivering to those Victorians.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/how-the-luxury-beliefs-of-an-educated-elite-erode-society-0mx8fd2nl
"a 2020 survey found that the richest Americans showed the strongest support for defunding the police, while the poorest reported the lowest support. Throughout the remainder of that year and into 2021, murder rates throughout the US soared as a result of defunding policies, officers retiring early or quitting, and police departments struggling to recruit new members after the luxury belief class cultivated an environment of loathing toward law enforcement.
Consider that compared with Americans who earn more than $75,000 a year, the poorest Americans are seven times more likely to be victims of robbery, seven times more likely to be victims of aggravated assault and 20 times more likely to be victims of sexual assault. And yet many affluent people are calling to abolish law enforcement."
Rob Henderson's concept of luxury beliefs is very interesting. Like myself, Rob Henderson is a former foster kid who went to college. He wrote a memoir on his experiences and notably has made certain observations on the college elite's "progressive" mindset. Rob exposes how the elite politically correct push backwards beliefs to demonstrate their social status.
As a woman who aged out of foster care, one of the things I was told by my social worker was that foster kids often become homeless when they age out of the system and that the girls become prostitutes. It was a great fear of mine that I would become homeless and that my fate would be to be a prostitute because there was simply no other forms of support. When I encountered liberal feminists who claimed that "sex work is work" it was shocking. You would think that feminists would try to be allies to girls from foster care and that they would be concerned by the high rates of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation that they encounter. But these "activists" do not care about foster kids. They push a harmful lifestyle because it's a luxury belief. They live privileged lives and can do Only Fans from their bedrooms meanwhile girls that age out of foster care often end up homeless.
The more that I look into social justice warriors, the more I realize that they really have antagonistic attitudes towards less fortunate people - especially girls from foster care.

a while ago i was talking to dasi (@merrygejelh) about merle's religion being expressed through ecology, especially citizen science, as a follower of a nature god and i'm thinking about that again. Xtreme Teen Peterson Field Guide. events like bioblitzes as worship, et cetera... it must be a little lonely and sad to be incredibly attuned to the ecosystem around you and know that it's ever so slightly different from what you're used to, but you just can't put your finger on how!!!

Chapuys, while making Rochford protest his innocence of the charges against him, is evidently anxious to make him recant his Lutheranism, which the other versions of the speech do not represent him as doing. Constantine, who professes to have been present at the execution, gives an account very similar to Wriothesley's; and, as the two writers were poles asunder in their religious opinions, we may do best by accepting their versions. If so, the brilliant young courtier, poet and diplomatist, made an edifying end, but with his religious sympathies unchanged.
