Hello!!! Vague SDOL spoilers below, but it's set pre-canon so it's just characters and a few of their abilities.

"This shouldn't hurt, but it's gonna look kinda weird," Guizo warns.

That's fine, Dara's seen this on Xande before. She nods, and offers her hand.

Guizo does not even hesitates as he slips a ring onto her finger - most men would, and part of her appreciates just how normal this seems to him - before blinking for a second. Black and gold lines begin to trail up from their touching rings, curving up their arms, their necks, and into the hair by their ears. On Guizo, she can see it trace a small pattern in the folds of his ear, before entering the canal itself.

And, sure enough, while see can see the trace… Dara doesn't feel a thing.

"/Hi Dara/!" Guizo's voice echos inside her skull, drawing her attention back to his face. "/So like I said, I can't hear everything. You need to think about thinking to me at the same time as thinking what you want me to think./"

"That's nonsense," she says the words with her mouth, laughing just a little.

Still, she thinks of Guizo, and tries to… conceptualise shunting a thought through the air towards him.

"/I'm in your braaain/."

"Just give it a try," Guizo uses his mouth words this time.

… So he didn't notice that.

Damn.

Dara knows it works - she's seen Xande and Guizo use it before - it's just… how do you think about thinking a thought to be thought by someone while also thinking the thought to be thought? It's all a bit of a pain.

"I did…"

"Hm," Guizo squints at her. "I didn't hear, so… maybe try again?"

"/Hello Guizo this is Dara/," she tries, and receives a blank look in return.

"/I guess you did try/?" Guizo thinks intl her brain.

"Yeah…" she frowns. "I just don't get it."

"/Chico struggles with it too/," Guizo thinks to her, as though that will cheer her up. "/But… oh I know. Maybe try something physical? Eye contact or touching me isn't really helpful when we wanna be able to split up, but like… sometimes I press the ritual tattoo if I'm struggling to focus. It makes it easier to concentrate on concentrating but not concentrating too hard./"

Hmm. What can Dara do… this is a place for feeling silly, if she can get the hang of it with something silly, she can work on just doing it with time.

She's not an occultist like Guizo, the tattoos are not real for her, just an indication that the spell is active. She does not have nearly the same connection, she doesn't have the same learnt grasp of magic and tattoos as Guizo, it doesn't hold enough importance to her to focus her mind. It would not work for her, not so new to the occult as she is. Maybe someday, but not now.

In the future, perhaps, but for now…

There was this one show she saw, where the pilots of the spaceships had comms in their ears. And to activate the comms, they had to press them.

Maybe that could work? It's more magic than science, but those are basically the same, right?

Now if she worked on a spaceship, which ear would she put her earpiece in… usually it's shown as right, but she's right handed - surely if she wanted to comm someone in a fight, she'd want to use her left hand, then? Her gun wants both hands, but her gun is not the only weapon they use.

And, she hears better on the right anyway. She wouldn't want to get jumped because she was chatting on her comm.

Left, then.

She can adjust the technique with time - she really needs to be able to do it hands free, so she can call for help while fighting or providing medical aid - but for now.

For now think of it like a tiny sci-fi earpiece in her left ear, and if she presses it she can talk to Guizo.

… feeling incredibly silly, she brings up her hand, and presses two fingers to her ear.

"/Hello? Hello? This is Dara. Guizo, do you copy? Over?/"

Guizo's face breaks into a grin. "/Reading you loud and clear, Miss Dara! This is Guizo, confirming operation 'beat Chico next trivia night' step one complete! Over!"

Dara grins back; this is all a bit silly, but she has seen how useful it can be. Next time the radios break they'll be ready and, until then, she has a crown to regain.

hehe silly doodle day!! here's day seven of milgramtober!!

"What the FU–?!" Fuuta's voice resounds through the panopticon.

"E-eh...?" Muu walks out of her cell and spots Fuuta running from the other side of the panopticon.

"Oh, Muu, do you know what's going on?" Yuno walks over from her cell. "I heard Fuuta yelling, but I kind of assumed he was just yelling at someone again." She shrugs.

"Um... Muu doesn't know what's going on either..." Muu mumbles.

"MOVE! MOVE!!" Fuuta screams as he runs closer to Muu and Yuno, who quickly move to the wall.

"What's going on?" Yuno asks as Fuuta finally stops running and puts his hands on his knees to take a breath.

"Mikoto... released... a fucking spider... into... the cells." Fuuta pants.

"A spider can't be that bad?" Yuno blinks.

"It's still a spider!" Muu wails.

"Oh, I guess that's true..." Yuno sighs. "...is someone else running ove–"

"FUUTA, IT'S COMING!" Mikoto shrieks as he dashes towards the group.

"...oh no." Fuuta whispers before grabbing Yuno and Muu by the arms. "We need to go. Let's go, come on!"

He starts running off, dragging Yuno and Muu along with him.

"Okay, okay! I'm coming!" Yuno runs as Fuuta pulls her along.

"H-Hey, Muu isn't ready for this–" Muu cries out. "...wait, um... where's Haruka?"

Fuuta and Mikoto both immediately stop. Fuuta looks over at Mikoto.

"I thought you grabbed him and he was lagging behind??" Fuuta huffs.

"Well, I thought you brought him here and left him in his cell! " Mikoto throws his hands in the air.

"Hey, doesn't that mean you left him with the spider?" Yuno points out.

"Spiders." Fuuta states. "Mikoto decided to disturb the fucking spider nest in one of the cells."

"Mikoto, you what–?" Yuno looks at Mikoto.

Mikoto frantically waves his hands around. "Okay, look– I didn't realize it was a spider nest until spiders started escaping it."

"You poked a spider's nest???" Yuno stares at Mikoto, complete shock on her face.

"Ah– Okay, well–"

"Mikoto!" Yuno exclaims.

"Okay, okay!" Mikoto sighs.

Yuno huffs before laughing.

"Um... I know we're having a good time here, but Haruka is still with the spiders..." Muu pipes up.

"...oh, SHIT–" Fuuta's eyes become wide. "Fuck, okay– Who is going to get him?"

No one raises their hand.

Muu sighs. "Muu can go, even if Muu is a little scared... For Haruka!"

"Thank you, Muu." Mikoto nods.

"Okay, now, go, go, go!"

"Muu is going, but where??" Muu huffs.

"Oh, right, ah–" Fuuta points in the direction where Haruka is and Muu runs off.

Muu starts speeding up as she notices blue hair. Eventually, she can see all of Haruka. "Haruka!"

"O-oh, Muu!" Haruka turns around.

There are spiders all around him.

Some of them look like they're twitching.

...Muu wants to leave now.

"Um... what have you been doing?" Muu watches Haruka awkwardly stand there.

"...ah... I was... stomping on the spiders. They're smaller than me, s-so I can kill them, right...?" Haruka slowly walks closer to Muu.

"Oh." Muu blinks. "Um... Haruka, Muu thinks there's more spiders than the ones Haruka has been stomping on."

"W-What?" Haruka stops walking right in front of Muu and begins turning around to look.

"I think there's going to be too many to stomp on eventually. So, you need to come with me!" Muu grabs Haruka's hand and starts running.

"A-ah, Muu–" Haruka starts while he tries catching up to Muu.

"No time! The spiders are going to chase Haruka and Muu!" Muu cries out as she tugs on Haruka's hand.

Haruka has a confused look on his face, but he starts running faster to try to catch up with Muu.

"They're here!" Mikoto shouts as Muu and Haruka round the corner.

Fuuta immediately stops pacing. "Why did you guys take so long??"

"Haruka thought he could stomp on the spiders." Muu explains, still confused why he'd decide to do that first.

"What." Fuuta turns to Haruka.

"U-um..." Haruka tugs at the end of his shirt. "They're smaller than me... So, I thought..."

"I mean, that's true." Yuno shrugs. "But, I honestly don't think someone can stomp on all the spiders. I think some would escape."

"Oh." Haruka blinks. "Ah, wait, doesn't that mean—"

The somehow both loud and quiet sound of crawling starts drawing closer.

"HOLY SHIT–"

"Okay, so it's time to run now!"

"Yep, yep. I agree with Mikoto. Let's go–"

"Ah, wait for Muu–"

"And me...!"

Yuno, Mikoto, Fuuta, Muu, and Haruka burst into the common room.

Kazui, Kotoko, Mahiru, Shidou, and Amane stare at the door.

"..."

"..."

"What are you doing?" Amane asks, looking a little annoyed by whatever just happened.

"Spiders." Fuuta tiredly says as he walks over to a table and sits down.

"Spiders??" Mahiru repeats, confused. "There are spiders?"

"Yes!" Muu nods as she sits down. "Muu and Haruka had to run from so many of them! It was so scary..."

Haruka nods in agreement.

"You were being chased by spiders?" Shidou questions. "Couldn't you kill them?"

"Haruka already tried that, but they still chased Muu and Haruka!" Muu cries.

"Oh dear..." Shidou mumbles.

"Oh, you all found the spider nest." Kotoko takes a sip of her protein drink.

"YOU KNEW ABOUT IT??" Fuuta's hands slam into the table.

"And, you didn't tell us...??" Mikoto awkwardly rubs his neck.

"I assumed you all would ignore it until Es found it. I guess not." Kotoko sighs.

"Mikoto, please never do that again." Yuno exhales as she sits down on a table.

"I'm sorry, alright? I didn't mean to!" Mikoto sighs.

"Eh, wait... Kayano, you touched the nest?" Shidou places his cup of tea on the table.

"Yes! I'm sorry, alright?" Mikoto places his head on a table when he sits down.

"Oh dear..." Kazui awkwardly laughs. "We told Es about the spider nest and they said they would deal with it. About now, I think."

"Isn't that good...? They're going to deal with all those spiders for us!" Muu asks before realizing.

Es bursts through the common room doors.

"You all said the spiders were still in its nest?!"

"Oh, come on!" Mikoto groans.

"Wait, are they coming here??" Muu looks like she's about to sob. "Muu doesn't even want to go back to her cell if there are spiders swarming it!"

"Okay, that's it!" Es huffs. "Everyone will be sleeping in the interrogation room while I deal with the spider problem."

"O-oh, yay...?" Muu blinks.

"Oh, this is going to be so fun!" Mikoto grins. "Haruka, we should have a pillow fight!"

"E-eh...? 'Pillow fight'...?" Haruka blinks.

"Have you not done one before? Oh, man! Now you really need to do one with me." Mikoto wraps an arm around Haruka's shoulder.

"A-ah, wait, um... okay."

"Sleepover time!" Mahiru squeals.

"Oh, are you–"

"Fuuta, come on~" Yuno grins.

"Fine, fine!" Fuuta huffs.

"Oh, what are we going to do?" Mahiru hums.

"If everyone's silent at night, then I don't mind." Amane states. "I would like to study at night."

"Ah, Amane, would you like me to–"

"No."

"Yuzuriha, will you be joining these activities?" Kazui asks. "This old man... sort of got roped into these." He laughs.

Kotoko sighs. "Fine. Considering we've spent so much time together anyways, it should be fine."

"Oh, thank goodness." Kazui exhales with relief.

Muu watches Es shake their head and turns around.

There's a spider on their hat.

Muu freezes.

"THERE'S A SPIDER ON ES' HAT!!"

I think I have to say Rubens and Johnny, but honestly Johnny and Verissimo has been some of the most *interesting*. Even if I didn't do it much.

20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?

I don't really reread my own work much, as I tend to hate everything about it for months if not years after. That said, outside of needing to cross-check character voice between parts of a series, it's part 1 of the OPD-divergence AU

The worst part about writing this Rockoon and Doubling analyze is that I have no idea where to start because I have a LOT of thoughts since their relationship is so complex and they are both incredibly complex people and I have activated my outside the box thinking with them so hard this time that I’m just wow! No wonder I didn’t roleplay either of them well in the past!!

Not judging from my own perspective anymore and being a lot less biased is so FUN
