You know, as excited as I am for Boltgun and Space Marine 2 (and that's VERY VERY excited, for reference), I'd really love to see some WH40K games with heroes from the other sides.
Cos I mean, in the lore of 40K, there's no good guys, right? The Imperium are genocidal fascists (and all of the sub-factions have their own myriad villainies), the Eldar are willing to let a thousand human worlds burn if it suits their schemes, the T'au have this extremely rigid racial hierarchy going on and are also maybe brainwashing their whole population, and pretty much everyone else are just out-and-out monsters trying to kill the universe.
But then, take a game like Space Marine, and you've got Captain Titus, this absolute paragon who's an absolute nightmare in battle, but also is great to his men, kind to mere mortal guardsmen, and who knows when to maybe bend the codex a little. It's a much more heroic, much more reasonable side of the Imperium than we usually see.
So why not try that perspective with some other sides? Not every Chaos story needs to be about endless puppy-kicking evil - why not play as a plague marine who truly, sincerely believes in Nurgle's mission to kill the universe and let something new rise from the ashes, and who is also really good with the plague toads or whatever? How about a junior Eldar Harlequin, waging a one-person campaign against the corrupt and cruel military governor of an Imperial hive world? Or the leader of a T'au scouting party, who ends up defending a bunch of humans from the Necron tomb they foolishly activated, and then from the Imperium as well when they come to kill off the 'collaborators'?
living in the olympic village has to be WILD. you wake up from your cardboard bed, overwhelmed with the idea that you're at the Fucking Olympics at 22. you walk around and notice the girl thats sponsered by parmachan cheese. you get breakfast and think of the guy who loves those chocolate muffins. you wish he left one for you. you go to your morning workout hoping to see simone biles. you go to see your team, and they're pitching tik tok ideas. it gets 5 million views. snoop dog is in the background.
Crocodile finds a strange stray cat an 11-year old Nico Robin
(AU where they met 13 years earlier. Robin's been on the run from the World Government for 3 years. Crocodile's 27 and has not set up base in Alabasta yet)
It seems like I have become possessed. By some sort of demon.
