one weird part of my job is sometimes I get little old ladies with sweet hearts poking through the compost box on the bottom of my cart that tell me I shouldn't be throwing away what I am throwing away. Like yeah, I get it. Food waste sucks! I hate throwing anything away. But everything down there is rotting or bruised or withered or just ugly enough that I know it will sit on the shelf until it is rotting, bruised, and withered. I cannot mark it down, and you will not buy it at full price. "But poor people---!" Poor people deserve food that isn't moldy or bruised or withered or ugly! And afaik our company already donates actually edible food to pantries!

i think the reason ppl get so uppity about you calling a scam a scam rn is bc they feel so powerless about the situation in i/p that they'll take ANYTHING to feel like they're contributing. they dont want to be the bystanders who have no real sway that they are, they want to be the heroes of the story, and if they dont at least have the scams to rely on for their image, how will everyone know how good of a person they are and praise them for saving the day???????????????

#mine.#it was about dropshipping crochet scams on tiktok#and like looking at the store front and then all of the identical items on temu. the dropshipping scam thing is a reasonable assumption#but the rest of the youtuber's evidence is so ???#“they have a bunch of different items in different styles” yeah theyre. a crochet business#and i genuinely dont know what the hell a “crochet style” is because most of the items were amigurumi and like. flowers#the steps to make a cutesy plush are the same as the ones to make a realistic plush. someone selling both isnt suspicious#“look at all these items! theres no way they could make all these that quickly!”#once again. they are a crochet business#someone making a bunch of stock and then filming their haul (? cant think of a better word) isnt suspicious#and most of it was like. pretty small stuff too#like not to sound mean but sometimes people are Better At A Craft than you#making a cherry keychain probably wouldnt even take me an hour and i dont claim to be an expert#im sorrrry to be a hater and the people doing this suck buuut#if you dont know much about crochet and dont run crochet booths or interact with crochet communities than maaaybe#you dont have enough knowledge to make a video about this

if an artist says their turnaround time is usually a week and that they should be done with your specific commission by the end of the week, then goes nearly three weeks without saying something, is it OK to ask them for an update on your commission? I'm a bit torn on whether I should wait a whole month
#as someone who takes comms myself if i were me i would have sent an update after being unable to finish it within my turnaround time#just to be like hey heres what ive got so far sorry that this isnt the turnaround time i said it would be in my comms listing#but also im NOT them so 🤷 idk. literally anything could have happened and maybe they cant even use their phone right now#i dont wanna send them an email (even the very politely worded one ive been drafting) bc i dont want to be rude like at all#but also this person didnt get back to me for over a month when i first reached out to commission them so#im starting to see that for the red flag it was#and not like. a sign that they just have so many commissions to do. because it doesnt take long to send an email that says#'sorry im a bit too busy with other comms right now to take yours/work on yours'#i wouldnt have been mad. i would have either waited to comm them or taken my business elsewhere#i also wanna be clear i dont mind long turnarund times ive waited literal months for a comm with no complaints#its just the fact that they promised to finished it (completely unprompted) and then havent... said ANYTHING for WEEKS that seems sus to me#its crossed my mind i may have been scammed since they havent shown me anything more than a sketch#edit: part of the im really regretting comming them is because ive already waited a month to even like finish the TAKING my comm process#since they randomly didnt email me back for weeks right as we were finalizing the details#like i waited a LONG time to even be like 'are you still taking my comm?' bc in my head i was like#'they must have other comms that they havent mentioned (totally valid btw) if i wait the queue will be clear'#and then... yea idk i just dont think that was the case if their turnaround time is actually a week#which is a really short turnaround time anyway imo theyre making it too hard on themself#(funnily enough i have the same turnaround time which is why i know it can be challenging to do it in a week but its also completely doable)#anyway back to the fact i probably got scammed. their 'sketch' though i didnt wamna say it looked VERY much like#they just traced my concept sketch#which 😰

it's just really demoralizing to do literally everything right but then get turned down for a factor that is fixable in literally like two days of training

I've done like four totally different kinds of customer service!#i have varied tech experience and a degree in the field the clinic is in. etc etc etc#literally the only thing i dont have is the job title on my resume#what the hell am i supposed to do about that if i cant get hired#(i did get hired to a chiropractor and i guess im going to take it but like .... chiropractor? really?#i feel like that's not even a good thing for my resume since I'm trying to apply for medical receptionist roles.#like it's gotta look like bad judgement that i dont know chiropractors are a scam ykno)#i am applying to other shit too tbc but that's just my preferred job i think#feeling like I'm doing something at least vaguely useful is a big qol for me

a thing thats really funny about googling universities is you look up ‘good [area of study] university programs’ and it just gives you like. the top rated universities in general.
#like aye im sure uoft and mcgill and ubc are at the top of ur list no matter what program u put in#but just because theyre the most hoity toity of all the schools here doesnt mean each and every of their programs are the best. tbh#like actually i do think trent or dalhousie or ubc have for example good environment programs.#i dont however immediately think of uoft or mcgill for that.#not that i take much advice from googling these sorts of things because post secondary (in north america esp)#is REALLY a scam and all corporate controlled etc#not to mention that most post secondaries… are actually the same#you can get just as good of an education at for example brock uni as at uoft. but one has more prestige#like mostly it doesnt matter. tho re: my previous tags yes there ARE some better schools for certain things#im not taking art at western university when i could go to ocad or nscad!!#anyways i like looking these things up just to see what schools offer stuff im into. idc about ratings

speaking of horrors theres something happening and i dont know what it is but its pissing me off
#wind howls#i think a lot of stress from still not having a job for the summer is getting to me#i just dont know what to do.#my sisters boyfriend said to look on facebook for job offers and when i did 99.9% of them were definitely fake and scams.#i appreciate the tip but i know a bit better.... cmon man....#i guess The Rage has been getting to me a bit as well. i know thats likely the source of last nights partly trauma nightmare i had.#i sent in another application today and im worried bc its passing though an employment agency which. my last tutor said 2 avoid#but girl. im gettinf a bit desperate here. i already had a job around this time last year#and my options are limited because my mobility is limited. cant stand for long and cant drive.#and i dont have many options near my house bc its all fucking. retail jobs that get ableist real fast if you cant stand in place for long#like. from what ive heard standing up in the same spot for 8 hours is already hard for able bodied people. how am i meant 2 survive.#the few times i did that i came home crying from the pain and frankly speaking im desperate but im not THAT Desperate.#long story short. please pray that i find fucking SOMETHING this week lest i explode and start crying
