I know some people really don’t like that the movies tie into the manga and vice versa but I really do because it’s not necessarily Required Viewing but it does add to the experience of the manga and I think it’s a fun and clever way to have done both works simultaneously while maintaining a consistent “canon”
Like my friend watched Broly last night so I watched it with them and I realized only then that Vegeta’s guilt in the Granolah arc is, while perfectly understandable on its own in the context of the manga, a potentially direct result of what Paragus said to him about being responsible for the actions of his father.
#I really. Love how Super was handled with Toriyama and Toyotarou — as a Vegeta fan. It’s very interesting that Mhoirbheinn in present day focuses on his father as the “big evil” of his past because, aside from being the twisted reason he was brought into the world and his general lack of being a…you know, loving and supportive father figure, Bhaltair never actually did much to Mhoirbheinn. Aside from some callous and uncaring remarks, Bhaltair ignored and mostly never interacted with his bastard spare.
Mhoirbheinn’s brother, however… Eogan was his main tormentor growing up and Mhoirbheinn’s first lesson in cruelty. He seemed to take great pleasure in hurting his brother, be it physically or emotionally, and, of course, it was Eogan’s last cruel act of killing Mhoirbheinn’s mother that detonated the bomb and set Mhoirbheinn down on the path he ended up traveling, and changed his personality (for the worse I’ll always say). It was the buildup of years of little and big cruelties from his brother that ultimately turned Mhoirbheinn into such a bloodthirsty man that delights in causing harm to others and exacting vengeance against those who have wronged him and who he cares for. It was ultimately Eogan’s doing that caused the “monster” Mhoirbheinn’s mother claimed she saw to be nurtured and birthed.
Eogan had the larger impact on Mhoirbheinn’s life, but Mhoirbheinn doesn’t seem to realize that.
#{Mhoirbheinn Headcanon#that’s why I like the ‘look what you’ve turned me into’ line from 600 Strike for Mhoirbheinn#and just the overall parallel at someone finally getting revenge and lashing out at the one who was their start of darkness#Mhoirbheinn gets into such a tizzy when thinking about his dad now#but ask him about his brother?#a casual chuckle and some talk about how he’d gladly skin him alive again if the opportunity presented it#but weirdly not the same trauma when talking about the deranged shit the guy did to him#that’s why in verses where Mhoirbheinn’s mom lives or Mhoirbheinn doesn’t grow up in that house with his brother he ends up /infinitely/#better off for it

ngl the more I hear about Wish, the more excited I get about it
