After putting little Louis to bed, Emma was quick to fall asleep herself, leaving Niall awake by himself. He had too many worries going around his head to be able to get any rest, so he stuck to taking comfort in his liquor. However, he was startled when he heard the doorbell ring. Surprised to see his friend Laura at the door, he let her in anyway. He could use the distraction. But nothing could have prepared him for the news that she had come to deliver.

Of course Niall knew the troubles of keeping your private life out of the public eye, when you were in the film business, especially when that life was even slightly outside the norm. It was something he was constantly thinking and worrying about, even now that he was married with child. So, he understood why Laura and Franklin were planning this marriage of convenience, although he wished it did not have to be so.

He had been doing well enough, without having to face his fears about the future and his career, as well as that of his friends. It was already too much to deal with and, now that he had a family to care for, too, it was like his life was just a constant flow of stress. Until now, the alcohol had always been a way to escape it, but perhaps Laura was right. He would not be able to make it through this on his own. Eventually, he would have to speak to Emma about his worries.

[TRANSCRIPT]

Niall: "Laura?"

Laura: "Hello, darling. So, won't you let me in?"

Niall: "Oh, yes, of course."

Laura: "Sorry to keep you at this late hour."

Niall: "Oh, it's fine. I wasn't going to sleep any time soon."

Laura: "I see. Well, I just wanted to come by and let you know before you get the letter."

Niall: "Letter? Sounds serious."

Laura: "Not really. Well, kind of."

Laura: "You know that, in our line of work, rumours only grow. I feel it's going to catch up with me soon. It would be even worse for Franklin."

Laura: "We've decided to get married. To each other."

Niall: "Wait, what? How? He doesn't even like women. You don't like... either."

Laura: "That's exactly my point, genius."

Laura: "People talk, Niall. There's only so much you can do to avoid it from affecting our careers."

Laura: "I mean, we do love each other a lot. And we've thought about living together for a while now. Plus, I get the fabulous dress and the party, so there really is no downside!"

Niall: *groans*

Laura: "You alright?"

Niall: "My head is killing me. Maybe I should get another drink."

Laura: "You look like you've had enough already, no?"

Niall: "Please, I don't know how you can even take any of this sober. And I've got a child now, too!"

Niall: "Emma is taking it so well, and the baby loves her! I don't know why it seems so hopeless for me. I know not much expected from fathers, but I want to bond with my son, too!"

Laura: "Raising a child is a lot of work, but you're not alone in this. For starters, why don't you talk to your wife about this? Sure beats drowning your feelings in booze."

Niall: "I just feel so lost, Laura."

Laura: "I tell you, talk to your wife. But first, go get some sleep."

Niall: "Right."

Laura: "Well, goodnight, darling! I'll see you two at the wedding, then."

Niall: "Night, Laura."

Almost forgot about posting this since I went over it all and talked about it with my friend.

I really wish that Swifty had managed to keep more of the conversations, and while I don't understand particularly extending the trust to the person they did, I cannot blame anybody for not taking screenshots prior to any major incident. It's just not something you really think about in the moment, especially not if its coming form someone you trust.

I do NOT have to imagine what its like to deal with the fall-out of any interaction with Sam, with reactions, responses and accusations from his supporters and friends (in my case, his sister??) and I know it's incredibly stressful. I'm sorry that they had to deal with him for so long, and be known by so many of his vocal supporters.

I have heard of the current claims that Sam is spreading rumors about G, but but i did NOT have the context that someone in a screenshot Swifty also shared was Sam on an alt.

I am a bit frustrated with the knowledge now that Sam is using so many alts, however, I am able to confirm that at least some of those screenshots are real. I can't imagine many people outside of his crew would know Sam's current username. The username Sam is using in which he accuses Grian of removing videos including him, is the username his old primary account had, which he used during his "visit" to the Discord I was in.

Due to my memory disorder, I'm bit foggy on what Swifty is talking about in regards to "making peace" with me and my post and iii. feel a bit weird about that. if anything ever happened with "making peace" it would've been all the way back in 2020, 2021 at the latest. Which, by the way. Sure am feeling Some Way about Sam and his crew members fucking talking about me as recently as FOUR MONTHS AGO. Like, this isn't about me, but let me fucking tell you I was very startled to see mention/reference of myself in such recent messages

Anyway. Fuck Sam. Don't work for him? Like, even if you had NO IDEA what went down in late 2020 with him, a general rule should be to NOT trust people who have had maybe over a hundred different people quit and denounce all ties with them. "all my friends leave me :(" looking ass.

Or the way Sam puts it, which is so much worse and has me questioning his intelligence, "every person i ever talked to (including children and teenagers) are horrible people and pedophiles and i fired them. they never left me i left them" like okay. thats a (PARAPHRASED) statement to make.

The FIA Prize Giving 2018 gala was an insane night for Simi, and I want to share all of it!

First, the elephant in the room:

Kimi was absolutely hammered! He caught everyone's eye because he was tumbling around the place, and generally having a blast yapping his mouth off to anyone who would listen to him. Legends said he would do this when drunk, but never had a live audience been witness to it.

Meanwhile, Seb...

Seb had finished second to Lewis in 2018's title battle, and was also seeing the end of his partnership with Kimi at Ferrari.

Kimi's renewal for Ferrari was always rumored to be something Seb pushed for when negotiating his own contracts, so the news the Scuderia wasn't interested in keeping Kimi past 2018 were a sign that Sebastian's wants weren't of huge importance to them anymore, and they were making way for a promising young talent (Leclerc) to take the lead driver role in Ferrari in the years to come.

Sounds like a bad end of the year for a guy with title aspirations, but guess what?

Kimi was there, with so much booze in his system that he wasn't at all worried with maintaining his quiet and taciturn act. And you know how they say alcohol lowers your inhibitions and makes your deepest thoughts come out freely?

That night, Kimi had one mission, and it was to keep Seb happy.

When he caught cameras filming Seb, knowing his friend was a private guy, he jumped in and tried to stop them. Look at his face. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's driven only by protective instinct.

When Seb talked, you could tell he wasn't hearing a word (and at times it seemed mutual)

For a bit there, the cameras even caught Kimi deciding to go for a smoke, and Seb trying to impinge a sense of responsibility on him, only to end up being dragged along.

When they were called on stage to receive the 2nd and 3rd place trophies, it was the funniest shit. There were designated spots on the stage where each driver should stand, but they were quite apart from each other.

You can see an official trying to stop Kimi and take him to his marked spot, but Kimi strode straight towards Seb and stuck decisively by his side. In fact he gestures at Seb, as if telling the crowd to give him his accolades!

His arm was around his shoulders, half offering companionship in what would be their last official act together as teammates, and half supporting himself so he wouldn't fall on his ass on stage.

And of course, we even had a classic Seb moment, where Kimi offered one of the men delivering the awards a handshake, and Seb took it instead. Kimi didn't even care, he rolled with it, because if Seb wants to hold his hand, god damn it he will.

Even when they had to part to grab the awards, Kimi made sure to return to his original favored position of keeping one friendly arm around Sebastian's shoulders asap.

You see Seb turn to him and say something...

It's impossible to tell what, but it looked an awful lot like a "thank you" that carried years of friendship and support behind it. Kimi's eyes transformed at whatever Seb said. his eyebrows lifted and his expression softened.

He told him something to his ear in return, and it made Seb smile again, whatever it was.

Eventually it was Lewis' time to get on stage. He was the 2018 champion, the guy Seb didn't manage to beat, and as such had the right to make a victory speech.

As he does so, the camera caught the losers, Seb and Kimi.

In that moment, that could have hurt a little harder than usual, Kimi put his arm around Seb's shoulders one more time, downed another drink, and swung him closer.

This was it.

This was the end of their partnership.

they act like that shitpost is pointing out some truth about how those women are silly. but the replies on that post show the stupidity of that assumption. people really don't get that feminine looking women don't just want to be rough handled by some masculine dude. and people have varied tastes and sexual desires. there is so much misogyny all tangled up in the biphobia. but it's subtle in a way that they don't notice their views on these matters are flawed because even when we point out what's wrong with these gender essentialist stereotypes, they ignore it and treat it as a joke "haha you all act like we wanted to behead bisexuals"

I am so sorry, apparently it’s 2024 and I’m arguing about dragon age again lmao. How did I get here! Why is this happening!! Time is a flat circle!!!

Anyway. People can feel how they want about the past games not mattering in this game. If you’re cool with it, I’m happy for you. But there’s one particular argument in defence of this choice that is really, really bothering me and I have to rant

The thing I keep seeing is “well all this other stuff has nothing to do with the main plot or Rook, so it should be cut” and that’s. Not a good way to tell stories in my opinion. Because here’s the thing: it’s not about the Big Overall Plot. It’s about the characters that live in this world, big and small

I’m going to use the example of Varric and Hawke cause I think it’s the easiest to explain quickly. Varric is a storyteller. That’s the defining trait of his character. He tells stories, and sometimes they’re true and sometimes they’re not and sometimes it’s something in between. In DA2 he tells you about his brother. In inquisition, he talks about hawke and there’s banter about several of the companions. Most of these are just little one liners that don’t “serve the overall plot” but they serve Varric’s character

And that matters

So if we take this character known for telling stories about people that have been in his life, well, he largely can’t do that now. How can he talk about Hawke, someone who can be a very close friend of his, without even their gender being a choice you can select? Or whether Varric should be saying ‘is’ or ‘was’ about them? How can he talk about the companions in DA2 or inquisition when a lot of them don’t have to be recruited or can die? Will he limit himself to only characters that are guaranteed to be a part of it and alive? Or is it that he and Rook will have such a shallow relationship that Varric, of all characters, never talks about his life and past exploits?

Or has Varric as a character changed so much that he doesn’t even want to tell stories anymore? That Hawke living or dying means nothing to him? That the friendships he built with people in 2 games mean nothing to him? That he’s become literally unrecognizable?

This is where the problem is. Sure, Rook maybe doesn’t care about these people they’ve never met. But do they care about Varric? What about if a companion mentions an old friend of theirs, talks about an experience they had that made them who they are - is that only okay if that experience isn’t from a previous game? Or are all the characters so flat that we never learn anything about their connections to others outside of Rook? Is this story SO focused on this player character and this plot that NOTHING else matters, even within the world, and there’s no depth to be found in any of the characters that feature in it?

Writing characters so that they only ever talk about things that “directly serve the plot” is how you get flat, unremarkable, boring, forgettable characters. And that’s not something I would have accused bioware of doing even if some instalments are stronger in this area than others. But it sounds like that’s what they’re doing here, at least with the past characters. Cause sure, maybe Morrigan is so closed off she’ll never mention her son and partner. That’s believable, even if iffy given that they’ve said she’s going to be more involved than we think. But Varric? VARRIC??? Never mentioning ANY of the people he used to spend time with and care about except Solas and maybe some of the inquisition characters that can’t die or not be recruited but also carefully skirting around what happened to them in the game? That’s literally not the same character

And I would expand this to like. A letter mentioning this or a codex mentioning that, or ambient dialogue about so and so - that makes the world feel deep and those random, unimportant NPCs feel richer by connecting them to the larger world. It’s not about “serving the plot”, it’s about making your world and characters deep enough that they feel real, lived in, and like something we can actually care about
