First Times (Poly Relationship w/ John & Ghost Headcanons)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spent the morning exploring Hackney, which is rich in breweries. While wandering about, I got to thinking, what if…
John starts working at a brewery when he retires from the army?
OR!
He starts a micro brewery/pub with Simon, who retires around the same time.
🍺 The two men set to work immediately to acquire the proper licenses and a premise. Fortunately for the both of them, they’re quite handy and so know how to create a lovely, albeit very manly, space without too much interference from contractors. After all, why hire others for work you can do yourself?
🍺 Honestly, the business is a dream come true for John. Owning a micro brewery was his Plan B should things not work out with the army. However, it’s because of his former employment, he’s become a better business owner. It’s through the development of his leadership and risk-assessment skills he managed to secure the rank of captain.
🍺 For Simon, the brewery is an unexpected ambition, a new dream to follow. While he lets John do most of the marketing (because Simon can’t be arsed with social media… being social in general), he’s mostly pre-occupied with the creation of new and improvement of the already existing craft beers.
🍺 The business steadily grows as word gets about town. Soon, it’s not only the local Hackney residents who pop by, but also people from other boroughs.
🍺 Including you.
🍺 Come from Inner London, the people of the area find you somewhat of a posh puppy, a bit of a toff. It’s this view of you which makes them wonder what on Earth you’re doing in East London, this artsy and not as affluent part of the city.
🍺 Nevertheless, you’re a sight for sore eyes if you ask Simon, who’s your old neighbour back from the few years you lived in Manchester after moving there with your parents.
🍺 Though gruff and distant in the beginning, Simon gradually warmed up to you. Despite never opening up emotionally, you two did develop a strong amiable bond. Maybe because you were the only one to greet him on the street, to ask about his career after catching a glimpse of the dog tag around his neck, to welcome him back each time he was deployed.
🍺 To show sincere interest in him.
🍺 Your parents weren’t a fan of you socializing with the giant in the skull balaclava, but they never told you off for it since you two always seemed to have a good time. Moreover, they rarely saw you smile unless you were with him. So they let it slide, prioritizing your happiness over their prejudice.
🍺 It was only in the spring before you moved without telling him where to and he was deployed yet again, Simon realized he had feelings for you. Nonetheless, he put them aside or, rather, suppressed them until they numbed. He had nothing to offer, fifteen years your elder and terribly haunted.
🍺 So imagine his surprise and absolute delight when you stand in front of him, prettier than he can remember. “Been a while, hasn’t it?”
🍺 “Y/N,” it’s the only thing he can say, finally out loud after years of uttering it in silence.
🍺 “Who’s this fair lady?” John slides up next to Simon, arms crossed as he takes you in. His sea blue eyes darken when they meet yours. “How can we help, miss?”
🍺 The way he practically purrs the words sends a pleasant shiver down your spine. Yet, you conceal the effect he has on you behind a steady voice. “I saw the notice on the window, about the open position. Has it been filled in the meanwhile or can I still apply?”
🍺 “She’s a good one, John. Hardworking, trustworthy, kind. Fast learner too,” Simon says pensively.
🍺 “Got experience in the field?” John asks.
🍺 “Studied psychology, during which I mostly focused on the effect of marketing on the human psyche. Also run a food blog and Instagram”
🍺 “Thank Simon properly before you leave. I trust his judgment and seeing he knows you best, I’ll take his word for it.” He slaps his business partner on the shoulder. “Drop by tomorrow and we’ll discuss your contract. I’m looking forward to working with you…”
🍺 “Y/N.”
🍺 “Y/N...” John repeats thoughtfully. Then he hums and heads off.
🍺 Thus begins a series of firsts and connections as you settle down in Hackney.
🍺 Over the course of a few weeks, the locals come to see you as one of their own as you show them you simply aren’t some girl with rich parents, a spoiled princess, but a young woman trying to make a life for herself with her own hard-earned money via helping at the counter and striking up conversations.
🍺 John and you grow closer too. He admires and respects your eye for detail and aesthetics, though sometimes he feels a little awkward when you’re trying to direct him for the occasional TikTok. Nevertheless, it’s your creativity that keeps drawing him in, igniting the need to keep getting closer to you. What also helps is you bringing him coffee or reminding him to take breaks (both with a kiss on the cheek later down the line).
🍺 Loves to review the content you create together, especially when you’re in his lap while doing so.
🍺 On your mutual days off, John drags you all over London to visit bakeries and cafés. Never had you thought him a foodie, though it’s a pleasant discovery since there’s always something new to experience on the food scene. Moreover, he loves helping you out with your own blog, not just the one you created for the brewery.
🍺 These days, you’re teaching him photography and are taking baking classes together. Although, you might as well go on your own to the latter because he’s a terrible baker (unlike Simon, who’s self-taught and surprisingly good, like, sale-appropriate why-doesn’t-he-have-at-least-a-micro-bakery good).
🍺 Your bond with Simon mostly rekindles via being his guinea pig. He knows how brutally honest you can be in your feedback, which he thoroughly appreciates. Outside work, the two of you frequent bookshops, have picnics in the major parks in London, and visit the city’s oldest cemeteries. The latter is a bit of a morbid idea of a nice outing, but you appreciate the silence and romantic sense of decay in the air.
🍺 It isn’t long before you take up residence in the apartment the two men share, which leaves the other residents of the building wondering about your relationships to one another. Although, they can guess at the nature of it seeing the “noise” at night. As I said, lots of first including a relationship with two men older than you.
🍺 But aside from the plethora of sensual moments, there are also plenty of tender (and domestic) firsts. For example, Simon accompanies you to your first tattoo appointment. When, the next day, you’re struck by tattoo flu, he takes care of you. Of course John doesn’t force you to come to work nor Simon for that matter, who you clearly need at the moment (despite claiming otherwise). Henceforth, you’re both granted PTO until you’re back on your feet.
🍺 Speaking of the former-captain, John is your very first kiss. You and him went out for pizza (Simon preferring to stay home and read). On the way to Hackney Wick, beneath a bridge heavily decorated with graffiti and sheltering a few barges, he put his hands on your cheeks and crashed his lips into yours. He tasted of tobacco and white wine, laced with the sweetness of tomatoes and basil. That night, he made love to you.
🍺 Another first.
🍺 Simon prepared breakfast the next morning, serving food to ensure John and you wouldn’t succumb to exhaustion later in the day. Nor him, for that matter, because while he doesn’t get jealous and loves sharing you with his best friend, he sometimes wishes you wouldn’t go at it till early in the morning when the next day is an ordinary work day.
🍺 You’re there for them when either of them suffers from night terrors or combat stress. Simon is more prone to the former, whereas John is to the latter.
🍺 You accompany Simon to therapy too after he’s been diagnosed with PTSD. At first he didn’t want to go, refused it even, until he finally relented after another episode of flashbacks and coming to his senses while shaking in your arms.
🍺 Life with John and Simon isn’t always easy nor romantic.
🍺 But bloody hell, do they make it better.

Any good stories from your travels?
Do you mean my most recent travels, or all time?
Cause I've always dreamt about writing a book about my US travels one day, cause some of what I got up to was incomprehensible lol.
But for this most recent trip, I definitely had a blast! Some highlights include:
1. Running across Abbey Road in the pouring rain with no umbrella and no coat (I forgot) and then just spending the rest of the day not rectifying the situation and walking around London completely soaking wet with no worries in the world.
2. Speed running the Louvre. Seriously, we hit almost every room on every floor in 6 hours. 26,000 steps and almost 10 miles of walking and my feet were so swollen I almost couldn't get my shoes off, but hey - it was an accomplishment.
3. Tesco Express in London and FranPrix in Paris saved my life multiple times and I will forever ride for them.
4. We stumbled across the King's Guard practicing for Trooping the Colour and we had no clue what was happening. This nice older gentleman saw our confusion and came over to tell me what was going on and he seemed so genuinely excited that I, a random American tourist, was genuinely interested in this mock parade that he basically gave me a whole history lesson on trooping the colour and the entire UK military right then and there. I love meeting people who get excited to share some things about their hometown. It's really pure.
5. Belgian waffles sent me to orbit many times.
6. Europeans have the BEST cherry coke, like wtf is happening there and how do I make it happen here? GAH.
7. I happened to be at the Tower of London on the anniversary of the execution of Anne Boleyn. I did not plan that, but of all days to decide to go there...how random is that?
8. Also, speaking of the Tower - the way they put you on Conveyer belts to see the crown jewels is genius. Other museums, take note.
9. I stumbled into this macaron shop in Paris and this couple was in front of me buying (you guessed it) macarons. The guy says to the lady behind the counter, "Guess where we're from!" in an American accent and I facepalmed. Counter lady didn't respond and American guy let the awkward silence breathe for a moment before loudly and proudly declaring, "The USA!"
Counter lady just kind of went, "...oh" and handed him his macarons.
Undeterred, USA guy tried again. "Have you ever heard of Las Vegas?"
"No," responds counter lady.
"Well, we live in Utah, but we tell people Las Veags cause more people have heard of that," USA guy replies.
Counter lady gave this whole exchange exactly what it deserved, which was nothing.
But yea - American tourists in Paris are really something to behold.
10. Speaking of Paris and dumb Americans - I don't know what was wrong with my brain, but I could not stop responding to people speaking French to me with Spanish. Especially difficult was when I wanted to say "yes" to someone and kept saying "sì" instead of "oui." So embarrassing.
11. Went to this brewery in Brussels before we got on the train to Paris and there was an entire high-school field trip in the brewery who then went to the bar afterwards. Belgium is no joke 🤣.
12. First place I ate at in Paris was a place called "Balls!" They served mac and cheese and meatballs. That was my first Parisian meal. The food capital of the world (aside from Italy) and thats where I wound up.
(Also why do they eat so late in Paris? I gotta go to bed, people!)
13. They dress the litrle Mannekin Pis statue up sometimes. First day we got to Brussels, it was dressed like a butterfly. The next day, it was back to normal. I find that endearing(ly weird).
I probably have so many more highlights or just interesting notes, but that was just a few I could think of off the top of my head!

Gaining Insight into the Creative Process of Concept Artist Crom - Cristian Ortiz in an Exclusive Interview.
Since he was a young boy, Cristian Ortiz has been driven towards illustration. His passion for the arts have led him to explore many disciplines within the creative industry-- animation, comics, storyboarding, game design and advertising.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there's one thing that all of these fields had in common; drawing! Once he discovered 'illustration' as his rightful career path though it seemed like everything made sense--so with every decision since then his goal has been to become an illustrator.
Are you self-taught or did you have a formal Art Education ?
I always drew and had personal projects going since I was really young but I wanted to see what was there to learn from places like St. Martins University where every summer I’d spend all my pennies on their short courses on storyboarding, illustration and design.
By the time I was seventeen, I had attended a foundational course in East London that taught me how to take on projects and briefs with confidence. Later on, at Middlesex University, my Illustration & Animation degree not only brought together an incredible group of peers but also permitted traditional illustrators to open up new perspectives for me which otherwise would have gone unrealized.
I eagerly saved every penny to attend St. Martins University's summer courses in storyboarding, illustration and design to gain an understanding of the possibilities within my field.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My past work experience has been exclusively in freelancing, so I am more familiar with it. If you prefer having direct contact with the people you are collaborating with and taking care of the administrative tasks yourself, then this is a great route for you to take.
Being an excellent game artist necessitates the ability to creatively transform a project brief into your own personal vision, while simultaneously infusing it with enthusiasm. An aptitude for bringing life and energy to characters and environments is key in this role, enabling you to craft unique experiences that players will love.
You should be full of enthusiasm when constructing bold new worlds and fascinating characters - it's key to the creative process!
If you are an aspiring game artist with dreams of succeeding in the industry, then honing your artistic skills and practice is essential. Different styles come into play depending on what type of game artistry you are interested in. To become a proficient game artist, it is important to develop a vision for how you want to express yourself visually through practice - creating projects that test your boundaries and challenge your abilities will help identify where further development needs to be focused on.
Trends come and go, yet to effectively communicate your vision visually requires diligence, practice, and personal projects. Do you find that the final illustrations are distinct from the ideas originally in mind?
The pieces I showcased at "Illustrated 2016" in the Truman Brewery were close to what one may classify as Fine Art. But where does Illustration stop and Fine Art begin? Or, is there no distinct boundary between the two? To me, it's about pushing boundaries: striving for excellence and surprise factors. More often than not, I end up with something even better than what my initial vision was!
I believe people perceive my work as valuable because I make physical pieces on canvases and fine paper, instead of mass-produced prints. While labels can be irrelevant to me, the fact that my artwork is one-of-a-kind has caused its value to rise exponentially in recent times. With a professional background steeped in commercial work and pop culture, who knows what direction my art will take me next?
What's it like to be part of the Creative Community in London? It's inspiring! In my experience, this city is a true powerhouse for creative individuals who are looking to collaborate and perfect their respective crafts. From indie comic creators, sign painters, game developers and more – if you have an interest in art or expression then there will always be a gathering that welcomes your enthusiasm. I've been fortunate enough not only witness these communities but also connect with them; never has there been such an energizing force towards creativity as what exists here.
London exudes magnetic creativity, which has attracted an eclectic community of artisans who are eager to collaborate and hone their crafts. This vibrant metropolis is alive with unique individuals wishing to share their inspiring skills and experiences with others.

London day 6- From the train station you can see the stadium looming over the neighborhoods nearby. It reminded Matt a bit of Lambeau field in that way (outside sort of looks like Allianz stadium too). The kids were fired up and there were lots of little boys in full tottenham shirts, shorts, socks. Many of them would come up and give Henry a fist bump when they saw his Harry Kane jersey which eh purposefully wore over his raincoat. Matt led us on a bit of a wild goose chase to find a "kid friendly brewery" he had read was a good place for a pre-game hang, but never made it and eventually turned back. Inside the stadium is very nice/clean/new seeming. The concourses were crowded with people pregame just hanging out and Matt thought they were just watching coronation or avoiding the rain and it turns out you can't bring beer to your seat so everyone hangs out on the concourse if they want to drink a beer. Becca was pleased to find that our seats were well covered from the rain and Matt was pleased to find that despite us all having individual seats scattered throughout a single section we were able to all sit together thanks to kind people around us moving seats. There's not too much pregame hype, players just walk out quickly to the tottenham song and the God Save the King rendition was much less rousing than at a World Cup match (and they only did this anthem at all because it was coronation day we think). Lots of people asking us where we were from and why we picked a spurs game in the stands.

@ava-sr said: EE i do apologize that this is late, but maybe a small request because of my moblit-brainrot. which dates he would like to take you on? maybe like one of those guided painting classes? aGh all i know is that man is the absolute sweetest and i love him with all my heart
Types of dates with Moblit pt.1
{ Moblit x reader | tw:none | fluff | modern }
Tumblr media
{ "Vanitas Still Life" 1662 by Edwaert Collier c. 1640 - after 1707 London or Leiden }
Ideal dates : these are dates he plans up ahead, makes sure they go smoothly and you're both are having fun. He really looks forward to these dates, they're like an event for him. He saves them up for important occasions like your anniversary, valentine's day, birthday.
I. Cuddling for hours at a time
you have to understand that in Moblit's overworked and stressful life, moments of respite are rare and far. He's so deprived of touch and love that it's a miracle how he has managed to function without even a beep. The thought of having someone to warm his bed, cradle his worries and put them to rest by simply combing through his hair, never crossed his mind despite having a hundred thoughts running through it per minute.
Some days he manages to forget your existence even, not out of some selfish desire or to belittle you, but out of disbelief, after all it's too good to be true.
You're too good to be true to him.
Your tender words pull him back each time he blindly steps closer to the edge, a never-ending spiral of self-destructive work tendencies awaiting him at the bottomless abyss. Your warm embrace shutting out the swarm of nagging voices meant to guilt him out of rest, to act as if the key to curing his sleep deprivation was to not acknowledge its existence, that fatigue symptoms could be erased by his own homemade placebo remedies.
As if your mere touch could turn anything to gold, and in his case, it did.
It was what made the difference between an anxiety inducing catastrophic day, and a mere rough stepping stone he could easily manoeuvre around leaving his pace steady and undisturbed.
Reminding that it's okay to fail, to give something your best only for it to crumble to dust. It's a process of trial and error, it takes time and patience.
You don't get to choose how well things end up working out, it's not up to you nor is it your place.
And that's why for him, his ideal place in the world is in your arms, to simply let the rise and fall of your chest lull him into comfortable numbness. His features softening as the oxytocin levels rise, courtesy of your warm embrace, soft skin providing just the right pressure against his own.
Laying on your shared bed together, the soft breeze coming from the open windows moves the thin curtains. Moblit is Holding you close as one of his arms sneak around you, fingertips tracing shapes up and down your back. Face buried in your shoulder as yours rests on top of his head, stray hairs almost tickling your nose when you brush against them.
The passing of time does little to his cotton filled mind, occasionally attempting to pull you even more closer as if it's possible. Legs tangled with yours under the heavy blanket despite him hogging most of it.
Every now and then, when a certain amount of time passes, he'd look at you with half-closed eyes, a lidded look of satisfaction before murmuring in his sleepy voice.
"Do you want to get up?" And despite his sincere words and warm tone, his body makes no move to detach itself from your side.
Does he know the soothing effect of the circles he keeps drawing up your back? Or how much him talking with his lips still pressed against your neck makes you melt just a bit.
Whatever it is, Moblit seems confident in his ability to keep you snuggled against him, tucked underneath the warm blanket and fluffy pillows almost muffling your answer.
II. Visiting a music bar
Preferably something with soft yellowish lights, small enough spaces not meant for dancing but to create an intimate atmosphere akin to a music venue.
A jazz club, maybe a brewery.
Dimmed sunlight seeping through the thin curtained window, shadow traces of people smoking outside while making small talk, cushioned bar stools placed around the long bar with a mirrored wall behind it as several aged bottles and fancy glasses with signatures decorate the wooden shelves.
The quiet chatter of people blurring behind the mellow music the band is playing on the nearby stage, smooth movement with relaxed postures as if they've done this a hundred times before, and they probably have.
You're sitting in one of the booths near the window, a private spot where you're far enough for people not to notice yet close enough to still hear the music flowing.
The beat is slow, hypnotising even that the minutes blur together.
Moblit giving you a smile as he comes back with your drinks, sitting opposite of you before handing you the cold glass, ice cubes clinking against each other as you raise the frosted rim to your lips, sugary sweet filling your senses, the cooling sensation of the drink slides down your throat.
There's a hint of citrus in it.
You've learned to trust Moblit's choice in drinks after being together for so long, he just knows what's going to taste good and which kind of drink you seem to need without having to say a word.
He seems comfortable here, even referring to the bartender by his name like they've been friends for a while, and maybe they have judging by the out-of-script welcoming he gave Moblit.
One conversation starts another and both of you find it so easy to talk to each other without boundaries or second thoughts, the smiles and occasional chuckles almost never leaving your features while nursing on your drinks.
He tells you stories from his work and about his co-workers. You find yourself entranced by his seemingly abusered line of work and the amount of chuckle worthy instances a single work day can offer.
That one time Hange knocked the liquid incense oils that someone Levi brought to freshen the place, well to their luck the oils fell directly on an open flame from the nearby scented candle which resulted in the fire spreading through the liquid alcohol between the broken glass.
And despite the feeling of dread, from seeing his files catch on fire this story brings him, the sound of your chocked laughter as you almost spilled your drink over your clothes, made it all worth it for him.
III. Antique shop
There was something to be said about Moblit's yearning for especially old looking things, trinkets, crumpled maps, tea stained letters and silvered mirrors.
You can't miss the gleam in his eyes as he opens the antique store door open for you the chime of the door bells following after. The smell of burning incense lingering in the air alongside the slow ticking of an old wooden clock.
The look on his face is of pure fascination, his eyes following the trail of the objects lined on the tables, from the old oil paintings with hand carved frames to the crystals reflecting sunlight next to the colourful stones. Observing as he carefully walks behind you through the narrow spaces between the tables and shelves.
Pulling your attention whenever he finds a particular curious thing to show you as if it's an offering, it can range from music boxes with a really familiar melody that you can't quite remember or a beautifully shaped rose quartz stone that feels cool against your palm.
Whatever he brings, it often manages to intrigue you in some way. Moblit could always notice things other people would skip over otherwise, scanning the tables was like a small treasure hunt.
He'd always pick one or two leather journals, almost filled to the brim with ink scribbled pages and tea stained spots, personal diaries dating back to the 90's and if he's lucky they might edge towards the 80'. He likes to read them, live in someone else's shoes even for a split second, puzzle pieces falling in place as he figures out what kind of person the author was.
Of course sharing his discoveries with you while having lunch later, not out of pride nor to show off, but out of genuine respect to other people's lives and their dedication for leaving behind a piece of their soul.
IX. Roadtrip
It's something he plans months ahead in advance, he genuinely wants to make the best out of the few weeks off both of you got to spend together. Making sure to plan a set of destinations, preparing snacks and food, packing your essentials and renting a big enough van.
A small getaway even, to completely leave everything behind and set out on a carefully planned adventure with the one he loves most, you.
Enjoying the fresh weather, the high sun and fast wind as both of you roll down the windows, fields of green and yellow meet you alongside the road the further away you move from the city.
Although be careful; the Moblit behind the wheel is a much much more different than the one you know, he's using all what remains of his self-restraint not to speed down the highway and swirl, the thought crosses his mind every hour or so and he's visibly agitated when you're forced to drive behind a particularly slow driver.
You might even have to remind him of the speed limit occasionally just so you don't end up with a pile of speeding tickets at the end of the trip.
It's like all his usually cautious and calculating demner evaporates into mist the second he touches the steering wheel, Temptations of just flooring it while high on adrenaline still linger in the back of his mind.
Beside that, the trip is a relatively calm one as you get to bask in all the new and different places you'll get to visit. Try new food and walk through different city streets, just the experience of something out of the usual is enough to satisfy Mobilt. Not to mention the fact he gets to experience it with you and just wander around without a purpose or care as long as you're together.
He'll definitely keep in mind what sort of things you seem to like, what intrigues you and the kind of reactions you show. He even started an album filled with mostly your pictures and the things you've seen.
It's most relaxing and filled with low stakes, nothing too fancy but nothing too boring either. Walking the thin line perfectly.
X. Visiting a museum
But not just any museum you see, one centred around natural history. Displaying everything from ancient fossils to full on skeleton displays of a 122 foot titanosaur, depictions of distant relatives of homosapiens and modern evolution trees of the current animals.
Moblit guiding you through the shiny tile floor and between the exhibits while holding your hand, eyes gleaming with passion as he goes on and on about each thing you glance at. Making all the trivial facts seem more fascinating than they have any right to be.
The squeaking sound of footsteps echoing on the too clean floors as four children pass you by, racing each other towards the iron suits of armour on display. They almost fall over the red ropes from leaning too close in, their caregiver seemingly busy talking with a security guard over the 'smoking not allowed' sign.
You spare them a final glance before following Moblit through the corridor leading to the world history & old inventions section. Soon enough he steals your attention again as he begins talking about the first airplane prototype that you can't help but be enamoured by.
Despite there being a sign framed on the wall that sums up the jest of Moblit's lecture, he manages to make it not only less boring but add his own twist and uncommon known facts to it that it feels less of a history trip and of an interesting conversation.
He has so much knowledge that he's so eager not to only share but hear your own opinion and take on it, valuing your view no matter what amount of knowledge you have over the subject.
XI. Painting together
It's an idea that you offhandedly suggested after your museum visit, after all spending an hour in the Impressionism era gallery did leave an impression on you. And so the suggestion of checking out an art store for some acrylics and a couple brushes left your lips on the way home without a second thought.
Well little did you know that the small suggestion managed to latch into Moblit's brain for weeks after, making him spend his free time searching and gaining information on painting and how to start, he even managed to find some really good classes having a limited time course sale
That's how both of you end up in a guided painting class, seated next to each other with aprons on and a pallet to mix paint tubes in. You'll find out how much of a fast learner Moblit is, so much that most of the class he spends guiding your hand through the steps and offering his help whenever possible, although he still remembers not to be overbearing and still gives you space.
Both of you are in your own bubble from the class, being with him makes you feel easy and more reassured. He's like your very own comfort corner that you seek in every party, except that he can walk around with you and always looks out for you.
And whatever you end up putting on that canvas, Moblit will cherish more than any renaissance painting, will even insist on hanging it somewhere in the apartment.

Top five ideal picnic locations
1. London Fields after acquiring our picnic goods from Broadway Market and perhaps some beers from London Fields Brewery. We can sit by the wildflower meadow and then perhaps go to the lido for a dip and then pub on the park for the evening.
2. Battersea Park, maybe along by the river near the peace pagoda, or the Russel Page garden, we can spread out our blankets and lay with our books and our grapes, and then after perhaps we can rent sail boats or those sitting down cycle thingies or just go walking round the different themed gardens, Battersea Park is a massive wonderland of horticulture.
3. The top of Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh. Sure you have to climb quite a ways with your picnic paraphernalia but the view is wonderful and there may be people up there singing folk songs or rehearsing plays.
4. On the bank of a smallish river that is fast-flowing and clean. I don't know its name or where it is but the grass is mossy-soft and the water is clear and cool on our feet while we dangle our legs in and eat our peaches with sloppy abandon.
5. On a sandy beach on a day that is sunny but not too hot, with a gentle breeze and not too many other people around. Yes we will get sand in our sandwiches, it is to be expected, but each gritty bite will taste like sunshine and sea air and heaven.
Bonus - 6. Anywhere with you, precious Leah 💗 Thank you for asking, pick a spot and we'll go!

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | For more than a year I’ve been looking out to see what would be going in the arches under Wood Lane station, and the first one to open their doors is @prairiefirebbq. Traditional authentic bbq food is always heavily sought after in London, and I don’t think you get more authentic than its owner, Mike, who comes from Kansas City. I’m a big fan, and I’m so happy I got a second chance to try his food. The first time was last year at the relaunch of London Fields brewery at the relaunch party, but it was sliders so it’s hard to get the full picture. But believe me, I made up for it this time trying a wide range of dishes. Firstly, there’s hot dogs on the menu, and this is always a fast track to my heart. The dog is made from beef and is SO nice. There’s a chilli dog available but I always go classic with a hot dog. The burger was good too, 40 day dry aged blend of rib cap, Chuck, and brisket from @hgwalter, who are one of the most widely used butchers for burger patties in London. The meat sampler gives you brisket, pulled pork, and sausage in one tin, and that brisket is to DIE FOR. I wish I had got a brisket bun 😩. I was a big fan of the chicken sandwich too. The chicken itself was nicely smoked, and wasn’t your usual overly deep fried fillet. I can’t really think of any other bbq places in west London, so this should be the obvious choice, and I’d aim to go here anyway if you want bbq food. Plus the other half of the restaurant is their own taproom! So even weekend drinks with a bit of food would go down nicely. . . . , . . #woodlane #bbqfood #prairiefire #bbq #barbeque #bbqlondon #brisket #pulledpork #burger #burgers #cheeseburger #londonfood #londonfoodie (at Prairie Fire BBQ) https://www.instagram.com/p/B759MrBHkBo/?igshid=4d5zae4gan2e

Hackney City Farm
In the 1800s, when much of Hackney was still a largely rural area, the land now occupied by Haggerston Park was home to farmers and market gardeners, who sold their produce to the City of London. As the capital flourished and spread, Hackney was absorbed into its sprawl, and the fields were soon replaced by housing and industry. A notable business to spring up was West’s Brewery, which lasted until the 1930s. A few years later its site was taken over by a haulage company, but by the early 1980s, this lorry park was derelict.
Tumblr media
It was the locals who returned the decaying site to its historical use, when, in 1984, they established the Hackney City Farm to be a community and educational resource. They converted many of the buildings into animal housing, and created a cottage garden and grazing areas, giving youngsters and local people the opportunity to experience farming.
Tumblr media
Today, the farm is home to pigs, donkeys, goats, sheep, bees, chickens, ducks, and geese (plus an awful lot of feral pigeons sheltering in and around the farmyard). Visitors are free to enter and wander, though the poultry and waterfowl may occasionally impede one’s way! The farm is a charity and an independent alternative school, and runs educational projects, exhibitions, courses in crafts and farm trails. For those more interested in provisions, there is a café, a farm shop (selling eggs and honey), and a “zero-waste” shop.

POTO Barbie?! Now that sounds like a truly magical gift! Mom's are the best, aren't they? Mine would have done the same thing and then told me to reset her password for her. I always think it's so fun to see the action figures who travel the globe (like flat Stanley). Are there any places you'd love to travel to? Any places you already have? (I saw your Ramin post and must respond separately!)
Oh Santa I have a whole list of places I want to travel to someday! Paris has been at the top of that list since I was in high school and took French. London and England in general is #2. I really, really want to go to The Bronte Parsonage; it would be like my pilgrimage because I LOVE the Bronte sisters. #3 Florence, Italy and this is going to sound silly but I want to do the Hannibal Lecter Expereince. Somebody put together a whole list of places to go and see in which events happen in the Hannibal novel/movie, while Dr. Lecter is on the lamb there under the assumed identity Dr. Fell. I, of course, have detailed lists of things I want to do at each place. Paris I have to plan around a specific Bank Holiday because there is this one museum I really want to go to but because it’s a medical museum it’s only open for university students, doctors, professors. However on this one Bank Holiday it’s open to the public.
I tend to do the opposite of typical tourist things when I travel.
This list of course doesn’t include the places I want to visit here in the good old US of A I haven’t hit yet. However a 3rd trip to NYC is probably going to happen before I hit one of the other top two cities I want to visit I haven’t yet (New Orleans and Boston).
Places I have already been: I mentioned in passing in one of my other answers I lived in Germany for 3 years as a kid. We were there 90-93 while my dad was in the Air Force. It sounds cheesy but I can only describe it as magical. Those were the best years of my childhood and mean the world to me. I was ages 6-9 then but I was hyper aware this wasn’t something everyone got to experience and I can play those years in my mind like a movies. The places we visited as a family, the school field trips we went on to castles and Christmas markets. Even just the little things like where we lived had (still has) on the breweries of one of the biggest beers in Germany and it always smelt terrible when they were brewing. I sometimes entertain the idea of visiting Germany again. But I know I can’t. It’s tied to so many wonderful and magical memories of my childhood going back would only ruin it. They actually closed the base in the mid 00s and there was recent video of a drone fly over of the housing area and I broke down and cried watching it. Germany is better locked in my heart as a time era of my life instead of a place.

Fuller's Asahi buyout: a sad day for brewing in London
After some time to digest the news, here's my take on the Fuller's Asahi buyout and why I think it matters.
You will probably have seen by now the news that Fuller’s has sold the entirety of its brewing business to the Japanese beer giant Asahi for £250m.
My immediate reaction to this was surprise — this was a sale it seemed no one had seen coming — which swiftly curdled into sadness and wary trepidation.
Some commenters are more bullish. Martyn Cornell for instance sees the deal as a…

On an archipelago off the coast of Norway, the GREYJOY family runs the Kraken Syndicate, aka the largest smuggling ring in Northern Europe. For three generations they’ve run their business with a tight fist, with interruptions to their “peace” being few and far between. But an Interpol raid a decade ago left their grasp on power tenuous at best. With Balon’s two eldest sons in prison and the youngest taken by child protective services, the remaining members of the family have only become more tight knit. Loyalty and dedication to the family comes above all else.          But other families have taken the opportunity to encroach on their territory, none more so than the London based LANNISTERS and the BOLTONS from Moscow. But competing families aren’t their only worries. Still under police surveillance by Interpol agents STARK and TULLY, the family has to be on constant watch. One wrong step will see the rest of their empire crumbling around them. Then there’s the matter of TARGARYEN Industries which has been eying the islands for years, waiting for the opportunity to expand their buisness ventures. To do that, they’ll need to clear the crime off the archipelago. As if that weren’t enough, the kidnapping of Margaery TYRELL, daughter of the French Prime Minister, has been traced back to the Islands…
