For anyone interested in guessing but not sure where to start, I suggest finding a piece from an author you enjoy (one who's on the official list posted by the event blog) and honing in on something that really stands out about the style. Look for format, personality, tone, things like that.
From there, you can poke around to see if there's a style match within the event. For me, this meant literally opening every work and searching for patterns that matched (though it did help that I'd read a lot of works before I started guessing).
While casually reading one work, I froze because I recognized a headcanon that was way too specific to be coincidence... but I'd also lucked out in having read that person's work the day before, so luck can play a part too, haha. Or maybe I was tricked. Who knows.
If you look, you'll definitely find clues in someone's style, even if you feel silly scrutinizing. It's all fair game. Sometimes I narrow down to 2 or 3 people and then select someone based on the vibes their tagging style gives me, like if they use non-canon tags or only canon tags. I tagged my content exactly the way I would've tagged if not anon even though I think I have very specific tag habits, so take that as you will~
If you're nervous to check text style, you can also check titles. I had several pieces in a batch I was trying to guess. I suspected I'd found the person, but I couldn't find the last piece the event blog claimed they'd wrote (I was one short, but I was SO confident).
I think I went through every work 5 times just for this one guess, trying to find this specific style that showed up in the other works I'd found. Then I saw a connection between the title styles of their event work and non-event work and it all made sense! It was pretty cool, like a treasure hunt. I'm excited to see if I was right.
(This is an extreme example. You don't need to commit that much time; I just was so close, I could taste it, haha.)
I do think starting with tags or titles is a great way to get into it if you're unsure, as you can scroll without opening too many pages.
And of course, it's all for fun! Don't stress if you feel overwhelmed. There's no shame in guessing wrong or in opting not to guess; I just wanted to suggest ideas while I'm in the mood for talking. I thought I wouldn't guess at all because I didn't think I'd know anyone, but I surprisingly had fun and I'd like to do more.
Enjoy the event in your own way. Everyone worked so hard and wrote great pieces. They've been a delight to read and study, and I hope to see everyone's work around the fandom in the future so I can point and say "Hey I know them and I remember this specific thing about their style!"

Uhhhh this might be controversial but I kinda don't like the lizards. It might be because I'm bad at combat but they are pretty annoying most of the time and just get in my way when I want to admire the backgrounds and enjoy just jumpin around

I was more meaning the regions outside them but within their walls, so gluttony and greed's placement work, gluttony could be a very weird form of the rot, a sort of turbo cancer. Would gabriel be an iterator here?
Got it! In that case, I'd imagine the layers/regions would be as follows:
PRELUDE/THE MOUTH OF HELL: Inside the iterators themselves. VI's inside is most reminiscent of the Prelude (with a LOT of environmental hazards with comparatively few enemies… not a lot of creatures WANT to venture through VI even if it's the shortest path forward). Late-game area, unlike Ultrakill’s prelude
LIMBO: A "safe zone" similar to the Outskirts. Has a few paintings related to the Ancients, though only Minos can sort of read them. Most common creatures are snails, noodleflies, and lanternflies, though there’s also a small pack of scavengers who wield explosive spears (they're not outwardly hostile though… they just set shit on fire). The most dangerous creature there is a large black lizard, though it stays underground most of the time.
LUST: A moderately dangerous region where nearly every creature within exhibits some form of bioluminescence. Some of the terrain is made up of fully-intact buildings, presumably the city that used to rest atop VI (prior to the ancients' evacuation). Requires a lot of climbing to get through; certain areas are high enough to see over the wall. Formerly much safer, but has since been overrun by centipedes (similar to the canon parasites + they have the electricity present in Lust). Home of Minos.
GLUTTONY: Large swaths of worm grass that consume near-anything they touch, with the only escape being clambering over the large skeletons they leave behind. Rotten and festering, certainly but not the Rot as neither VI nor VII have experimented with it. Rain Deer used to roam here, but they’ve all seemingly disappeared, leaving only bridges of their antlers behind. Coincidentally also contains a lot of fruit if you can platform over to it properly.
GREED: A barren wasteland left untouched by the harsh storms of Rain World, though equally dangerous electrical storms are hot enough to turn the sands to glass. The only solace against the blazing sun is in the caverns below, where treasures and hordes of yellow lizards alike can be found. Venturing above ground is an option, though—if not properly camouflaged—swooping vultures will find slugcats to be an easy target. Though not particularly useful in their home region, many grappling worms can be found and brought to other regions for easy traversal around their terrain. Home of Sisyphus.
WRATH: The most similar region to its canon counterpart, a watery expanse that can either be tediously platformed over or swam through (provided the slugcat is either amphibious or has enough bubble weed). Swimming presents plenty of hazards: leeches, salamanders, and a particularly fearsome albino leviathan. Climbing over is equally harrowing, as plenty of the platforms have become overrun with blue worm grass and bits of monster kelp looking for an easy meal. There is, however, one more option of traversal: if the slugcat’s reputation with scavengers is positive enough, the Ferryman will bring them across the region for only a small fee (or for free at a large reputation cost), effectively making Wrath skippable.
HERESY: Just put everything in here. You've got miros birds. You've got red lizards. You've got equal parts poles and pole plants. Just a goddamn nightmare to traverse through. If it's red and it's menacing, it's here. Located fairly close to VI, though taking shelter within its can is ill-advised.
VIOLENCE: This layer has barely been teased so I can't say a whole ton about it, but based on the mannequins alone I'd assume it would be majority ambush-hazards. White lizards, dropwigs, the likes. Probably littered with weapons but it's clear their wielders haven't passed through in a long time.
FRAUD and TREACHERY are in the same boat. We have no information on them and I'm not about to make something up. Use your imagination :]
As for Gabriel… that's a whole other post.

Does that mean Mercie and Supreme Leader could be distant cousins potentially? Guess it might be an idea in that 10000 year lore.
You have no idea how many cans of worm this AU opens anon -
AU where Dimi marries Mercie, and the resulting Blaiddyd heir has... a crest of Seiros :(
No one understands why, maybe it's a Hresvelg curse for destroying Adrestia?
With time, the Crest of Seiros is known as the Crest of Hresvelg (to Rhea's chagrin) and is now seen, in the Kingdom's folk legends, as a curse that befell humanity when it became too greedy.
AU where it's Papa Martritz's line that is a branch line from the Hresvelg House -
Ionius not managing to roll for crested heirs with his different wives jumped on the occasion to destroy House Martritz (even if it has a heir! in the over, but it exists still!) and put an end to eventual pretenders to the Imperial throne, if his "lady friends" can't give him an adequate crested heir :(
And even if the baby survives, it has a chance of not getting a crest of Seiros, and by virtue of not being a noble born baby, people might believe it's just a random bastard and not a legitimate threat to his dynasty
(Imagine if Baron Bartels got his seiros crested bby with Mercie though - hopefully, Emile made sure that plan would never see fruition!)
Ultimate combination AU : Mercie and Emile can tolerate Zanado fruits
Just like Constance!
Somehow, before being turned in a pincushion, lizard!Lycaon befriended Lamine's 9th daughter, who returned North when he "suddenly died" and Hildegard I (who descends from Willy's human children, the ones he got when he had his crest but from human women!) took his succession.
The resulting kid had no pointy ears but was "human passing" enough (only 1/4th Nabatean!), then said kid got kids - sometimes with a crest of Seiros, sometimes with the crest of Lamine - and their kids got kids - and they ended up in Adrestia, becoming Mercie's mom family.
Mercie will notice something strange because her parents recipe (that was influenced by her mom's cooking) always featured putting slices of fruit in the shape of a star on his various cupcakes - but then, those disgusting fruits Flayn, Seteth and even Lady Rhea nibble on occasion, when sliced, look like stars ? Granted, she never tried to eat any since everyone knows they're inedible! She tried to put a slice on a cupcake and ate it, to Annette and Dedue's surprise, she didn't threw up like everyone else, nor collapsed, even if Annette scolded her "Mercie, what are you even doing?! Those things can't be eaten!"
Overhearing Mercie's recipe history, Seteth frowns like never before - Lycaon used to hold hands with a scion of Lamine who joined their side (he told Seiros the Warrior to watch out because he was too young to hold hands, she ignored him, again!).
This will make Billy start to question themselves, if Rhea considered Mother like her daughter, and Mercedes is the child of the child of the child of the child (etc) of Rhea's son, is Mercedes their sort of nephew?

Hi, I saw your ideal Elias drawing and wanted to let you know that portraying politically and/or socially power people & people in high positions has roots deep in antisemitism. It's derived from the claim that all or most political figures are actually jewish and that Jews thus 'run the media'.
Some further reading: The Atlantic article on why conspiracy theorists always land on the Jews: https://www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/archive/2022/10/why-conspiracy-theorists-always-land-on-the-jews/671730/
The Guardian article on QAnon and their roots in antisemitic theories: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/25/qanon-conspiracy-theory-explained-trump-what-is
Wikipedia article on the international Jewish conspiracy, which also has a short 'see also' section linking to two more Wikipedia articles on antisemitic conspiracy theories: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Jewish_conspiracy
I'm sure you didn't purposefully portray Elias as an antisemitic stereotype/conspiracy, antisemitism often hides in plain sight, so I wanted to take initiative.
Have a good [insert relevant temporal word here] :) /gen
anon im going to be so straightforward and real with you
my thoughts on this:
it is a... silly little joke. a pun yknow? EELias? we all have a sensible chuckle
i drew him as an eel because i like eels. i love them so much. i would hug and kiss them.
pr sure the most relevant angle for that antisemitic stereotype is lizard people? and he is not a lizard. he is an eel
my elias isn't jewish? so...?
also elias runs a dumb little institute that relies on donors... he has like 5 dollars... i wouldn't exactly describe him as Politically Powerful
i GUESS you could argue that, well he is literally the guy secretly manipulating all events for his evil plans, but like... that isn't why i drew him, specifically, as an eel? review points 1 and 2
...i think when it comes to why folks might feel the urge to send asks like this... i get it can come from a genuinely well-intentioned place, to an extent. but i've talked before about how asks like these come off and how they make me, personally, feel. it's not your job or obligation to write out an essay explaining to me why [your interpretation of my art] means ive drawn something you feel is bad, and thus need to warn me of
like im sorry but ultimately my feeling is that it's just not that deep and kind of a reach, and this ask is frustrating to me because to me it feels like you're taking the worst-faith reading of something innocuous as an excuse to be pedantic in my direction

Which one do you think is better: got s1 or hotd s1?
haven't finished hotd s1 yet because believe it or not the time since ep8 aired until now was a level of busy that I haven't managed to find two hours where I could sit down and liveblog it with enough braincells working but like in retrospective... I mean as an *adaptation* including the wtf stuff/the stuff that was improvable/makes no sense I have a feeling hotd is better because the stuff that was 100% wrong in got was... worse than the wrong stuff in hotd and the ooc stuff was retroactively worse in got than hotd but like the point is that while got s1 was the best got season overall without doubt seeing what happened after made evident faults that could have been overlooked if they hadn't fucked up later, so atm my answer to this is not objective because I should see how does hotd fare going on XD because like I think the hotd changes to characters actually make sense while the ones on got did not and dnd just had to straight up adapt instead of reading between the lines and they fucked that up too so technically I should say hotd but if next season they just smoke smth very bad and fuck stuff up all over.. XDDDD WE JUST DON'T KNOW

Dungeon Meshi - Kobolds and Werewolfs
Translations given by a helpful anon .
Observations and TL note under the cut.
TL note by anon: * basal dog breeds: not sure how scientifically sound this is (only did a cursory search to confirm I was using the right term, because normal dictionaries only translate genshu as "purebred" and it didn't make any sense in this context ^^") but they're a number of specific breeds that are not exactly ancient but they did differentiate earlier than most other dog breeds - shiba are among these obviously.
---
A few more observations of my own:
On another version of the kobolds from daydream hour 2 (slightly different from "The complete Daydream Hour") Ryoko Kui Mentions "Jackals, African Wild Dogs or wolves" which I think its interesting.
Tumblr media
I don't know much about DnD so I thought it was strange most Kobolds showed up as lizard people when I searched them on google and I learned that Kobolds are popularized as dogs in japan due to D&D first edition describing them as having dog faces. This was the post that first made me aware of that.

I don't know why so many people are so persistent with this idea that Fodlan's worst mom (using your terminology) dislikes Rhea, just because she criticizes her decisions? For crying out loud, she criticizes Billy for their decisions especially when they get stuck in Zaharas, but was willing to fuse with Billy so that they could save the day. They really be trying hard to make it all about Rhea bad.
No worries lol
Sothis is an... odd character, to say the least.
Given how volatile FE16 is, especially since uwu and nightgowns, you cannot shed too much light on the Nabateans, and Sothis cannot be a likeable gremlin but also the same gremlin Supreme Leader vows to terminate, else Supreme Leader won't sell nightgown Cipher Cards (or not as much).
As a result, we end up with Sothis not reacting to the Nabatean plot and story (in FE16, we have the amnesia excuse, and when it falls, we have the "yeeted away by the plot" excuse) because Fodlan doesn't really want to tackle the "and those people were genocided and turned into shinies and saying Crust BaD is akin to saying "blood from this race of sentient beings BaD" else no turf war, no "maybe they're all fighting for their ideals" without spending 0.3 seconds wondering if one of those "ideals" isn't nauseabond, etc, etc.
We know Nopes!Sothis really doesn't like Agarthans, and from her battle quotes, thanks to voiceline anon, we know she plans on toasting their asses and even if she's rekt'd, she goes full Terminator "I'll be back" on them when the "time will come".
Story!Nopes!Sothis sort of weeps about her children turned into relics, and extra battle lines!Nopes!Sothis seems rejoiced to see her kids grown up (even if the lolcalisation lolcalised the crap out of her lines with Flayn.
Which makes... Story!Nopes!Sothis's lack of involvment in Supreme Bullshit or even Golden Shower all the more glaring - KT added and wrote lines where Sothis gives a crap about her kin, but in the canon, because player pandering is the way to sell subpar games, she can never oppose the player - on that grounds, no, if she opposes them, it's on the pseudo rivalry sold in the trailers between Billy'n'Barney.
We have a Sothis with her memories, who is able to be pissed bcs her children were killed, who remembers her bitter enemies, who shares her host's grief...
And yet, who doesn't move the little finger to protect or at least avenge her family members.
And I typed Rhea because it's always the best way to fish trolls, but it's the very same thing with Flayn and Seteth - Sothis knows who they are (or thinks she does for Flayn!) and yet will happily chill in Billy's brain as they hack them to pieces using her spine.
Really, the only thing I genuinely wonder about her is why KT bothered to add her battle lines/quotes depicting as, well, someone who at least cares for her family, if it's to ghost them in the main game for no plausible reason ?
Were they planning to sell a DLC with the assets we've found in the datamine (golden rhea sprite!) ? One that could and would shed more light on Sothis, her relation with her "creations" and with the Agarthans and Humans?
IDK, but imo Nopes is an example of a trainwreck, you can't sell a product that is so unlikable that your home fanbase disses it everywhere mere hours after its release, and hope to patch everything with a DLC.
Imo, Nopes getting no DLC and no further traction isn't only because Engage was on the way, but it might be because IS saw this, and went "okay stop we're taking back our franchise, fig off" to KT. It might have sold a lot for a musou, and reached the 1mil sales, that reception from the home market was something unplanned.
Tl; Dr : while the games play coy about what Sothis really thought about her children because Hresvelg Tea and whatnot, the Fodlan OST artwork is telling enough to reveal that, for some reason, as we're told but not shown especially not in the games, Sothis seemed to have cared a lot about her children (and also played the harp?).

Because I expect people to clown on this post, I'll just tell you, anon: no, you do not shed your skin during your period. You continue to lose dead skin cells like everyone else does constantly, but you don't shed like a lizard. The only noteworthy thing you shed during your period is your uterine lining, which is a layer of internal tissue built up inside the uterus in preparation for a potential embryo. Again, it's nothing like a reptile shed. The idea of shedding your skin during your period was made up as a joke to mess with people who weren't taught adequate information about human bodies.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.
