SUPER OLD RAINBOW! ART THREAD!!! Open only if you are brave enough to face teen me's cringe art...
(mostly joking but fr white Mimi and skinny Boo jumpscare below)
Very first digital piece of Boo and Mimi circa 2011!! I was 14 when I drew this. Usually I'm able to look back fondly at super old art of mine but this one does make me cringe a liiiiittle bit. Mimi girl what are you wearing, why are you white. Boo also had pink eyes in the beginning, which she would continue to have for several years to come (even in the current iteration of RAINBOW! they were pink at first, I later recolored those pages) but it was only later that it was due to the color scheme of the comic and not because they were literally pink. I'm pretty sure they were meant to be contacts, because their hair is and always have been dyed rather than anime-esque natural colorful hair, so that was some crazy dedication from Boo back in the day.
More 2011 art showing off Mimi's goth/scene-ish style and green eyes. They were initially meant to have pastel and neon fashion senses, respectively. The story was already named at this point, only a few days or maybe weeks into its inception, which is impressive considering it has taken us literal years to name other stories (I'm looking at you, Phantom Pains)
this one is from super early 2012! Interesting to think that this was less than 9 months later since it feels completely different to me. The first version of the comic had started at this point, and the pink and green color scheme was just starting to develop. This lineup features some characters that would later be cut. Lucian and Lily were friends of Boo, and Cecilia was Mimi's ex girlfriend. Notably Clarice is not on this lineup, and frankly I'm not sure why.
A picture I drew to commemorate 50 fans on RAINBOW!'s smackjeeves page, mid 2012. Boo's outfit resembled a recolored version of her 2011 outfit, but I have no idea what Mimi is wearing. What. are. you. wearing.
Chibi-ish drawings of Boo and Mimi cosplaying various characters, from early 2013. Homura Mimi is very funny to me, I really don't know why I didn't draw her as Kyoko. I assume I was trying to keep them as paired characters, but I didn't do that with the Sailor Moon or Disney ones, so I who knows why I did it with PMMM. Mimi's hairstyle changes to a shaved cut somewhere around this time, but it is much more dramatic than her current undercut, and her hair is still pretty long. Boo is wearing a closet cosplay of Fluttershy that I myself wore once. These also resemble the chibi-ish drawings on the chapter intermission pages of RAINBOW! Vol 1.
A character study I did in late 2013, which would be shortly after I made a major style shift into the art style that would eventually develop into the one I currently have. At this point, Boo was meant to be fatter than Mimi, but the execution wasn't really there at all. There is also a doodle at the bottom of me and Sunny at the time (I am the one with long hair), expressing thanks for 300 fans on smackjeeves. Considering it had 50 in mid 2012, the readership was pretty slow growing back then.
outfit exploration for Mimi, circa 2014. At this point I started to expand the color scheme a little bit more so that not every character would be paper-white, though she is still very pale even though she is no longer meant to be white anymore. None of these outfits really resemble her current style, and I don't particularly like any of them either. It took me a very long time to settle on a fashion sense for her.
an Adventure Time-eqsue drawing of Mimi and Boo that I actually drew less than two weeks after the previous image despite the difference in things such as the way the hair was drawn. I had to include this one because it blew up overnight, which was a huge deal for highschool me, I remember checking my phone at school a lot because it was just getting hundreds or even thousands of notes over the span of the day. I think it has something like 16,000 notes. Still the post with the highest number of notes I have by far, so I guess I peaked in high school, whomp whomp
More fashion exploration, this time of Mimi and Boo, from early 2015. The color scheme is starting to approach what it currently is, but much more dull since I used to be afraid of bright colors. Mimi's fashion sense is starting to get closer to what it currently is, but the pastel goth influence that was popular in early-mid 2010s tumblr is apparent. In chapter 1, Boo wears an outfit that is extremely similar to the one with the bear shirt, except it's a rabbit instead. The dress that Mimi gives to Boo is also almost identical to the depiction of it here. This drawing implies that Mimi was originally going to be present in the film noir scene where Boo finds her mom, which is interesting...
Another cast lineup! This one is from late 2015-early 2016. Mimi is wearing an outfit pretty similar to what she wears in chapter 1 but with the colors altered. The execution of Boo's body type is starting to improve but she's still kind of pear-shaped. Mimi is also a little more square, and her hair finally looks like the style she has now. Clarice gets to be in the lineup this time and she is SUPER tall. I think she is still taller than Milo. And Mimi is around 5'7"-5'8", so Clarice must be around 6 foot by that logic.
The original version of chibi-ish Boo riding a bike in her Kiki outfit, from 2016. I think it was meant to be a banner of some kind, possibly for tapas or tumblr. A newer version of this drawing features as a chapter intermission drawing in the physical book.
The original cover for RAINBOW! from 2017. The color scheme is finally starting to get a little brighter! This is actually a redraw of an older drawing from 2014, I want to draw it again someday. Also, I was going by Rain at the time.
A drawing I did in late 2017 for a class in which we were meant to try digital painting and I went for a very simple approach. I like that Mimi's legs are a little noodle-y. This is also the first drawing where Mimi's eyes are no longer green, but dark pink instead. By the language of RAINBOW!'s color scheme, that means they are brown. Boo's eyes are still pink, however.
Another drawing for a class, this time from 2018. I can't remember the specifics of the assignment, but I used the opportunity to draw the playground and Max, the dog, for the first time. I like the way the trees look in this. That little snip of hair by Mimi's ear also made a reappearance here for some reason.
The original version of the drawing that would become the cover of RAINBOW! Vol 1, from mid 2019! I believe I drew it to be a banner on Tapas, but I used it for tumblr as well.
And lastly, Boo and Mimi outfit sheets from 2019-2020. I messed with them for a while, hence the timeframe. Boo's eyes are finally green, which I changed since I liked the idea of Mimi having green hair and pink eyes, and Boo having pink hair and green eyes, as if they are reflected a bit in each other. Outside of RAINBOW!'s color scheme, Boo's eyes are actually blue though. It took about a decade, but I finally settled on a fashion sense for Mimi.
BONUS ART!!! 💖💖✨✨ I thought these would be better grouped together rather than chronologically with the rest.
RAINBOW!'s banners from its era on smackjeeves! Smackjeeves didn't have square/circular icons but rather these thin long banners which could also be animated. I thought that was so fun, so I always animated them at least a little, even though one doesn't seem to work. It was customary to write girls love/boys love on the banner of mlm/wlw romance stories then, so almost all of them say that. I still see that trend on some comics on webtoon and tapas nowadays. They are from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017. I don't believe the 2017 one was ever used.
And RAINBOW!'s icon throughout the years! I always refused to change it, only update it, because I thought it was really cute. They are from (approximately) 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
And finally, art from 2021 of Mimi with her cousin August, who will be the protagonist of our next comic, Phantom Pains. Weird to think that we'll be on that comic in foreseeable future, since it is also over 10 years old now. Bit of a passing the torch type drawing to end on. 💕 If you made it all the way here, thanks for reading! Hopefully it was fun and didn't hurt your eyes.

i am currently getting into the marauders fandom, and i am overly confused rn. i have never had an interest in reading harry potter but after begging from my best friend i started ATYD, and because i wanted to understand it better i started the actual harry potter series (pirated, fuck jkr) i have a ton of questions and i dont really think theyre things i can look up, so i turned to tumblr.
(please keep in mind i have not read the harry potter series so im like completely lost)
1) what is the source material for the marauders fandom? i thought ATYD was what jump started this whole james, sirius, remus thing but apparently it’s been going on since like 2003 so i’m just confused what is the canon information? the most confusing is wolfstar and how people talk about snape. is snape good? is he bad? am i missing something? was james bullying snape or snape bullying them? and is wolfstar supposed to be the “canon ship” or smth?
2) why is jegulus so popular? don’t get me wrong i love the concept of it from what i know (not very much im afraid) but i thought james and lily were like the end all be all canon marauders couple?
3) why is james desi? im all for it and as a black/jewish/gay girl myself the whole representation of poc and jews in harry potter along with jkr just put me off from the series for years but nothing about james reads as brown for me, so im just wondering how people got to that conclusion
4) why is there this weird hierarchy in this fandom? i keep going online and seeing old fans complaining about how things are so different now but like.. that’s how fandoms work? things are gonna change? it’s okay to like things that are old in fandom i mean i definitely do but it’s like they have such a superiority complex over others it’s kind of putting me off
5) why is everyone forgetting that the marauders were a group of little white boys in the 70s? they’re literally wizard racists (i thought)? i just don’t know how everyone thinks they’re so progressive when so many of them are wizard nepo babies. also
i really don’t want to seem negative or like i’m allergic to fun, i really love the fanfictions and the cosplays i’ve seen, this fandom seems so fun and the fact it’s been going for 20 something years is so cool, but i just have a lot of questions and im hoping the tumblr community can help me. i’m hoping reading the original series will clear some things up for me, and if you guys have any other harry potter/marauders related things to tell me as i get more into the series/fandom let me know!
(i’m also fairly new to being so active in fandom spaces so be nice)

my take on teenage raz and lili!
some design notes under the cut:
They're intended to be about 16 here! I didn't go for anything too drastic in terms of changes -- these are largely just what I'd consider natural evolutions of their canon designs
For Raz, my main focus besides just making him look older was to add a bit more resemblance to the other Aquatos in his design, since his relationship with them wouldn't be strained like it is during canon
Raz is shown with very straight hair in canon, but since most of his family's hair is more wavy or curly I tend to imagine he styles it that way on purpose as part of his Sasha Nein cosplay or whatever. He wouldn't still feel the need to do that at this point, though, so for this design I wanted to make it more curly, similar to Augustus or Frazie, while still similar to his canon style. This turned out to be incredibly difficult and I'm still not entirely happy with where I landed, but it's good enough
I didn't think he would still wear the helmet but I didn't want to discard it entirely, so the goggles were a compromise. I meant to give them some visible scratches and wear and tear since they're presumably the same goggles he's been wearing since he was 10, but I forgot. rip
Obviously the most notable change to Raz's outfit is the scarf -- I wanted something that would tie him visually to the other Aquatos while still fitting with his general look. I imagine they gave it to him as a gift, sort of an acknowledgement that even if he doesn't perform with them as an acrobat, doing his Psychonaut work is his own way of being an Aquato
Raz's outfit here is honestly very similar to his PN2 outfit. This is because in my eyes "long coat and turtleneck" is Peak Character Design and cannot be improved on. (Hence why I may not be the best person to redesign Raz.) He has an actual coat rather than just an oversized blazer this time though, so that's an improvement. With the turtleneck I was was vaguely intending for it to be color-wise something of a middle ground between the Sasha-style green striped turtleneck and the Aquato blue/green and white stripes, but it ended up basically just being the PN1 stripes with the PN2 color. which, you know, that works
I went back and forth on what their heights should be -- I thought it would be kind of funny if Raz ended up short and Lili ended up taller than him, but then I decided to just make them more in line with their families, with Raz being tall and lanky and Lili being average verging on short. Except then I accidentally made Lili tall anyway because I was only vaguely considering her height relative to Raz. I guess Lili's probably taller than her dad now? good for her ig
Most of their facial features are just slight variations of how they look in canon -- slightly smaller eyes and so on. the only real specific change is that Lili has a more defined nose now, similar in shape to her father's
Lili's outfit here is more different from either of her canon outfits than Raz's is, but there's still not much that really requires a ton of explanation. The goal was to make her look vaguely cool and fashionable, although as I am neither of those things I cannot guarantee I was successful
I tried a couple different hairstyles for Lili, and I'm still not entirely set on this one -- Originally what I settled on was to give her two braids, which I did like, but I kept doing sketches of her where I just drew the top part of the hair and was like "ngl this kind of works on its own" and so I ended up going with the short hair. I also briefly tried an asymmetrical haircut but I couldn't get it to look right. I think this one suits her though
Lili's tattoo (on her left wrist) was a later addition to the design, and even in the later stages of drawing this I wasn't sure whether to keep it. I like it conceptually I just haven't figured out a consistent design for it yet, only that it has to be of plants
god these notes got way longer than I meant them to be I am so sorry. Uh basically I'm still figuring out the details of these designs but for now here's Raz and Lili, they're teenagers now, thanks for reading
#still not completely set on these designs but i think i've mostly gotten an idea of what i want from them#i'll probably revisit them in the future. i'm happy with these for now tho#razputin aquato#lili zanotto#psychonauts#psychonauts 2#my art

Dk if I'm explaining this right cause my English isn't perfect but it's also so telling that for an 'Indigenous LGBT woman) who cares sooo much for representation she's never and I do mean NEVER brought up topics like intersectionality or even just how QPOC are differently represented in media but she'll never shut the fuck up if you portray any kind of sapphic woman as anything other than 100% good all the time. Even if she's 'disconnected' from her culture (BS) you'd think she'd at least bring it up but no. POC only exist for her to prove what a good and woke person she is. It's bullshit.
Fake progressive people are like a disease, even more so today. Do you know how irritating it is to have white women like lily pretend, or even speak over you like she knows what the hell she’s talking about?
And you’re right, she only cares about indigenous people when the topic pertains to her. Don’t get me started on when she talked about a TOTALLY real BLACK woman telling lily that she wrote her black character super well, then lily proceeded to pretend to get choked up with tears
This is some cartoon supervillain type shit i have no clue how she takes herself seriously cosplaying the Disney version of Pocahontas. Normally i ignore stupid noise like this but her brainwashed fans actually believe her, and her borderline racist takes, and somebodies gotta say something

I'm procrastinating right now, and I'd love to be distracted :)
What are your most niche/unpopular Regulus headcanons? You and Reg are so similar, I'm inclined to trust your opinions on him most.
Niche and unpopular? Some might be more popular, but here we go
Reg is scarred. Like, most definitely very scarred because of his family. Like, his skin is just mangled in some areas. His left side of his face has one large span of scars starting from his neck, going down to his chest and up to his cheek (cosplay agenda)
He loves the summer. He loves to sit under the shade of a nice tree and read or write poetry.
He actually probably wakes up early and stays up late. A lot of people say he’d sleep in, but honestly, prolly not because ~*trauma*~
One pillow. This man cannot allow himself comfort.
He absolutely has a stuffed animal from Sirius.
He cannot handle many foods because of texture (pushing my me agenda, whoops).
He walks into a room and immediately checks for any available exits.
He is actually fairly emotionally vulnerable when he gets to know someone.
The rings on his fingers are silver unless he has to meet up with Remus. Then he’d switch them out with white gold.
He sat on the train with his brother during his first year because he was scared.
He and James started dating the middle of Reg’s 5th year. Before that, he was in a toxic relationship with some pureblood Slytherin that his parents approved of.
Not about Reg, but the Black parents actually liked the Potter’s until Sirius ran.
He did not end up breaking up with James until he neared the end of 7th year, because he knew that he was going to die.
This also works into AUs where Reg lives/voldemort doesn’t happen. James and Reg would take a break, James and Lily would date, marry, have Harry, then realise, “well, this is not working that well, huh?” After a year or so, James would get back with Reg, and boom. Lily and Reg would love to hang out while James hangs out with Harry. (I am not a Jegulily fan personally, but this could also work for that)
His parents actually stop deadnaming him after Sirius runs. That is until Voldemort, where the revert back to his deadname (which, in my head, has been Denebola, with the middle name of Adhara).
He signs his name R.A.B as the final “fuck you” because he knows that his parents would be pissed and Voldemort would wonder exactly what is going on.

We return to a movie that disrespects the archaeological importance of roads, Prometheus.
I am still not over that. I will never be over that.
This time, content warnings for continuing frat boy archaeology, cringeful application of racist terms to lily-white androids, me screeching about site contamination some more, and Apollo’s dodgeball striking this movie with a glancing blow about masking.
So, back in the theater in 2012, I had already lost sympathy for the cast. They were being set up as stock horror movie characters, they were doing their jobs in a way with a certain flair for the incompetent.
And one of them, I suspect, the movie intends to make into a “flawed but you feel for him” kind of guy. Or, I hope they intended to make him “the guy in the slasher movie who you hate and want to see die”. That’s Holloway, one of the two archaeologists. He’s robot racist.
Like, seriously robot racist. The whole crew is, David literally gets referred to as “boy” here, which isn’t so much a dogwhistle as a tornado siren. No wonder David is quietly starting to show his disdain for the human crew.
“They're making you guys pretty close [to human now], huh?”
“Not too close, I hope.”
One of the few themes the movie handles halfway competently is the parallel between the humans stumbling all over themselves as they rush to go meet their makers, while David is already experiencing the disappointment of actually meeting his, and finding out they’re a bunch of clueless assholes. Are we supposed to believe the same of the Engineers? I don’t know. They definitely think of humans as lesser, though. More to come on that later.
Because right now, an expedition is barrelling toward the alien structure–again, driving all over the FCKING ALIEN ROAD–and they’re doing it with only six hours of daylight left, because Holloway literally says “It's Christmas [...] and I want to open my presents.”
I cannot communicate how heinous this character felt. The actor did a perfectly fine job playing him, but if Charlie Holloway was real, his name would be said with the same venom as that of the man pictured below: Heinrich Schliemann, the man who found the real, actual city of Troy, and immediately dynamited a trench through the royal palace, destroying who knows how many artifacts from the period the Iliad was based off of. Yes, I picked out the most assholish-looking photo of him I could find on purpose.
Also, Holloway’s an anti-masker, apparently.
I’m going to step back for just one second and list the one practical, movie budget reason why characters might take their helmets off. The costume designers did an admirable job coming up with something that fits the general requirement of a helmet in major studio releases, prior to The Mandalorian: make the actor’s faces completely visible, because without actors with a strong sense of physical presence and voice acting, you’ll lose connection with the audience.
They did a great job with that. Unfortunately, shiny helmets are a bastard to digitally edit film crew out of.
It’s not impossible to place lights and crew so that the audience won’t notice them. Alien certainly pulled it off. Clear plastic elements in helmets also mean other logistical challenges, though: fogging being the main one. This, and cooking your actors in a fishbowl under studio lights.
Both problems can be simultaneously combated by installing A/C fans within the helmets, but because these helmets are entirely clear, you’re limited to hiding them down near the neck, and anybody who’s done similar for a cosplay or suit will know that it’s potentially noisy and not always effective. You can actually see condensate on the helmets in the movie, though whether that’s from the actor’s breath or a deliberate choice, I don’t know.
All this adds up to increased time resetting actors (i.e. cleaning sweat off of them without disrupting their makeup), more exhaustion from said actors, and the worry that the highest-paid, plot-critical actors may decide they don’t want to do a sequel if the shooting experience is too physically unhealthy.
And then there’s also more time spent carefully arranging crew and lights to hide their reflections, or more time making some poor VFX artist erase a transparent, curved reflection from frame and replace it with something else, or make the actors more comfortable by adding the glass in later with CGI, at the potential loss of some realism. The average modern movie studio would choose one of these VFX-driven options and demand it done in a week, which is why VFX artists need to unionize.
So. I understand at least a few logistical reasons why you don’t tend to make actors wear helmets for too many shooting days. But it has to be balanced with the story. It has to feel believable. It has to fit the story. It has to not make your characters look like mud-witted morons.
As soon as they find liquid water and the oh-so-deadly CO2 levels start to drop, Holloway takes his helmet off.
“Don't be an idiot.”
“Don't be a skeptic.”
Flames on the side of my goddamn face.
Now, this is the moment a lot of people lost sympathy for the human characters, even back in 2012. It was a dumbass idea even then, in the pre-’rona years. Sadly, Millburn the biologist isn’t written smart enough to punch Holloway in the nuts over even thinking of doing this, because we have two problems with what Holloway’s doing here: Biology, and biology.
First, biology.
Obviously, they don’t know if anything’s in the air. He could find out that humans are deathly allergic to alien dust mites. He could have just caught himself a case of space covid, which he and the lemmings that follow him can then transmit to the entire crew if he’s not kept in quarantine. They can sterilize the sealed suits, but they can’t sterilize the inside of his lungs. Yet.
Second, biology.
Specifically, Earth biology. Do you know how carefully modern space agencies sterilize anything that’s headed for Mars, or anywhere else that might have a biosphere of its own? A lot! They sterilize everything a lot! Because microbes are hardy little bastards. We’ve never found extraterrestrial life, only precursor molecules that show the capacity for life to develop in other places. How are you going to verify you’ve found alien life, or even those precursors, if you can’t prove that your samples are uncontaminated? What happens if microbes from Earth manage to survive the trip and establish a foothold somewhere? What if they destroy native life?
This movie’s characters treat this with only a fraction of the gravitas that the cinematography does, which is part of why this remains so jarring throughout. The practical sets, the art direction, and the camerawork are all excellent. The editing continues to do its best, though it almost feels like things were cut very tight through this to speed things along and to give more time, unfortunately, to what the characters are doing.
their crimes against my sanity are not done yet

As a side note, rounding up some discussion from a previous entry: The most excellent artist @noordzee pointed out that the clashing artistic style of the moon and stars slapped onto the carving of Kʼinich Janaab Pakal I. In the previous post, I focused on the link between that carving and its use in ancient aliens conspiracy theories. But let's dig a bit into actual Maya iconography around celestial bodies instead.
Now, I am not an expert on Classical Maya stuff. Not in the slightest. And there is a lot of information on their art that is linguistically inaccessible to me, as a non-Spanish speaker. But out of the Maya art and writing that survived the book-burning conquistadors, we have some iconography for the moon and stars, and they don’t look like what’s in the movie.
I wasn’t able to find any specific pieces of art that contained stars, but I did find the glyph for star, ek’.
I was only able to find depictions of a crescent moon in the context of the moon goddess, where she tends to be sitting on the crescent like a chair, or one part of it is shown behind her, almost like a tail (though I can’t be certain whether that’s due to chipped paint).
The moon by itself was somewhat harder to find. I couldn’t find any Maya depictions of it with my limited poking around of the spanish internet, but I did find a (much later) Mixtec depiction of the moon, complete with a lunar rabbit! Much like East Asian cultures, the darker markings on the moon are culturally interpreted as a rabbit shape.
Thanks again to nordzee for pointing out the dissonant art style, because the real mesoamerican art on this subject is phenomenal.
Next time, the movie will hurt me more, so if anybody else has fun facts to share or details to point out. PLEASE. Ease my pain.

Amd number two (hopefully it sends properly)
Please imagine your typical beach during summer. There's sand, water, lots of people and screaming and splashing, kids running around or building sandcastles. There's also, dunno, Mark.
Midway through a day Mark gets a neighbour next to the little patch of sand he has occupied since early morning. The neighbour is a bit... odd - it's not every day that people show up on a beach in a suit and a racoon cosplay. Or is that supposed to be a panda? They chat for a while when Mark takes a break from swimming. The neighbour has a foreign sounding name (something like Coppa or Coppia) and an accent. He also gets an explanation for the suit - turns out the neighbour's partner all but kicked him out of the stuffy office to enjoy a sunny day. Mark fully gets it - it's a perfect day to laze around and do whatever you want. Hell, this conversation is the most eventful thing to happen to him!
That is until people start screaming.
Well, not that they weren't screaming before, but it goes from playful after a dunk in the water or occasional annoyed "Stop splashing me!" to terror. And it doesn't take Mark long to understand why. He gets merely a glimpse of a gargantuan, dark shape swimming along the bottom before he, too, does his best to break the world record in a freestyle swim to the shore.
There, all hell breaks loose - people trying to get as far away from the water as possible, grabbing their towels and children, standing and filming the water or calling world-renowned paleontologists to ask how plausible it is for a plesiosaur to have survived till now. It's really more of a mosasaurus, but Mark's cousin Lily isn't here to correct them and Mark himself is a bit preoccupied trying to spot his neighbour. When he finally does, his heart stops for a moment.
Said neighbour is still floating in the water, dead to the world, with the beast circling right underneath him. (Well, circling is perhaps a bit much - an ungraceful crawl would be more appropriate, as the shallow water doesn't allow the beast to really swim.)
Mark is halfway through composing an explanation for the neighbour's partner that sounds only slightly deranged when he realises that somehow it might be unnecessary. The mosasaurus makes no move to attack or devour the floating man. Instead, it simply stands on the seabed, seemingly content that its head has become a sort of private island for the sleeper. Mark has no idea how long they have been at an impasse - he and a few other people, who have yet to run away, with eyes, phones and cameras trained on the beast, the mosasaurus itself occasionally eyeing the audience with a white orb and its passenger asleep and blissfully unaware of the bizarre circumstances - but the shadows grow longer and a slight chill appears in the air before the neighbour wakes up.
Instead of panicking, like a normal person would in such a situation, he simply pats the beast on the head and unhurriedly swims to the shore, where everyone takes a collective deep breath to start a barrage of questions, exclamations and who knows what else. However, before anyone has a chance a well-dressed man (really, what is it with people wearing suits at the beach today??) speaking a foreign language whisks the neighbour away, having already packed his bags.
The video titled "Nessie's cousin" goes viral and as soon as Copia steps through the Abbey's door he has a gaggle of kids following him and asking to pretty please let them meet the monster.
The little seaside town gets used to the monster after the 3rd visit

Anon this is hilarious and sweet 😂 it’s almost giving Good Omens’ vibes!
In my mind, this isn’t what you probably intended, but for me reading this: Hell’s beasts aren’t as bad as they seem!
Or, Lucifer just wanted to mess with humans a little bit. Keep them on their toes, you know?
OR Headcanon that all the cryptid’s of earth are just Hell beasts that have gotten loose and are evading capture 👀

Impromptu mini cosplay of my OC Loriendari, and a little bit of her history.
There is something that Loriendari grew to like after visiting a planet of humans in a dimension where Madara lived. That is flowers. In particular, the Spider lily and Hydrangea. She considers the Spider Lily to be a flower that is gracefully intertwined with the essence of Madara. And she associates Hydrangeas with herself. She first saw them while traveling through this planet and visiting temples. During moments of meditation, she has developed a special variety of white and yellow Hydrangeas that grow directly underwater, slightly shimmering with the reflections of light. In nighttime, these flowers are especially captivating in their appearance. Madara always noticed her ability to create such wonderful miracles of nature, comparing it to the power of his friend Hashirama and calling it a pure manifestation of life. Loriendari often spent time in meditations not just for the sake of calming her aeldari spirit. She put in a great effort to establish a connection with the subtle energies of the planet in this dimension. And eventually, she managed to connect that energy with her abilities to manipulate psychic energy in order to create such "creations of life". For her, chakra is still a relatively uncharted phenomenon, as her own body does not possess chakra itself and is therefore quite alien in nature, having entered this dimension through the warp. Additionally, it is quite surprising to her that, no creature on this planet is able to manipulate psychic energy in any way, and their souls are not subjected to the influence of the warp themselves, while her soul in this dimension continues to be affected by it, just like before, and can still use psychic energy.

Racist Experiences in the Marauders Fandom
These anonymous submissions come from a survey I published several weeks ago where I asked for fans in the Marauders fandom to share their experiences with me. I was overwhelmed with the results, and this is, in their own words, some of the submissions I was sent.
There has been lost of push back against fans using POC fan casts for various characters
weird reactions to desi james or east asian sirius!!
I have seen people get upset when characters are fancast as non-white actors (like dev Patel for James)
Clash of opinions about fanon Hermione being black
I have seen lots of racism towards people's newer fancasts, as all the OGs (ben barnes, andrew garfield, aaron taylor-johnson, etc.) are white and some people are trying to change that!
I saw a fanart one time, where james had a darker skin (he was latino) and someone commented that it doesn't suit him
I draw Sirius black as Asian and I’ve gotten quite a few racist comments about this and I’ve seen a lot of racism about desi James. Also when BIPOC people cosplay characters that people think are “white”
People tend to cast characters as white, and sometimes I see people getting mad someone is fancasting a non-canonically black character as black or as a person of colour (I've seen some good black Remus, non-white Lily, non-white Peter fancasts, and yet, there is still peope being sooo mad about it like??). Sadly, I think a lot of people can tell about the fact that fancasts are often discussed and hated for no reason when they're not white or whatever, when it's basically just a fancast, that goes against the "canon" a bigot (JKR) made up.
the first that’s coming to mind is people fighting against the interpretation/portrayal of characters as poc (most often james bs i think he’s most popularly hced as desi but also others) either that or just straight up gatekeeping
Only the general feeling that the white characters are more interesting and loved than any of the characters of color. Racebending seems token, like nobody wants to be exclusionary but also don't have the comfort or confidence to make that diversity ring true in terms of cultural resonance. By cultural resonance I don't only mean make them ethnic but to portray and discuss or casually mention the postcolonial personhood or third culture kid experience as applies.
A comment on my fic about making it a “racial jungle”, saying that it wasn’t accurate for the time period even though representation of races otherwise had no significance in the fic
theres is a lot people that will fight tooth and nail for exclusively white maruaders (in terms of fancasts) and they slander other people in the fandom for using more diverse fancasts such as desi james or black evan
I've seen it in passing, especially towards POC writers/people who HC characters who were not diverse in canon.
People not wanting desi Potters in art or otherwise
One Harry Potter fan got mad at me for drawing James (and Harry) dark skinned
GOD THE FRIKIN FANCASTS. They really don't matter that much and everyone makes it such a big deal. To me at least- representation only really matters if its real. If there's fat Peter, darkskin Dorcas, desi James, or Japanese Sirius/Regulus in a fanfic, that is the representation of that. It doesn't need to be reflected in a fancast used in an edit. Personal opinion but annoying as fuck I just wish everyone would enjoy the fact that someone spent time pouring over numerous tiny clips from many different TV shows and movies just for fun, and other people getting mad that they didn't use a person that literally doesn't exist angers me to no end.
mostly just a complete ignorance of POC identities. sometimes poc characters are ignored in favour of white characters. but also, even when POC are centered, i often see like a lot of fetishization and stereotyping and it's just... not good...
there’s a lot of jewish people in the fandom that have pointed out antisemitism within the fandom a few times. i am not jewish, and i cannot speak on the issue, but that’s something i’ve heard a lot. i’ve also seen the whitewashing of fancasts for characters like mary and dorcas who are widely accepted to be women of color, so that feels weird to me, but i think? that’s everything i’ve noticed or heard.
i've seen racism thrown to black creators, poc fancasts, and at myself for being arab and head-cannoning the black brother as arab.
There was a black dude cosplaying remus and their were people saying remus wasnt a N-word but it was a white person saying it
I have seen some fans respond in a racist way to Black fans who have called out the racism in the way in which Black characters are written and portrayed in the fandom.

ROY G BIV tag
Thank you for the tag, @druidx. This looks like a fun new one.
Passing the (entirely optional) tag to @rickie-the-storyteller, @on-noon, @yourlocalboredprocastinator, @ghost-town-story. @broodparasitism, @itusebastian, @void-botanist, and an open tag for anyone else.
Rules: Search your your writing for the colours of the rainbow and post the excerpt
Red: Empty Names - 14 - Down Low
When Ashan finds her some ten minutes later with a satiated smile on her face and watching the spider pull in their stygian catch from the lake, the cut on Eris’s forehead has already healed. None of the blood painting her new armor red is hers.
Orange: The Archivist's Journal, Day 78
As long as I’m writing, I suppose I ought to take a moment to describe the landing area. It was another jutting cliff with an arch on the end, like Siren Overlook and the one we encountered to the west. Twice could be a coincidence, but three times and I’m convinced the whole formation is artificial, not just the arch, columns, and pool. It wasn’t nearly so overgrown as the western dock – if anything the columns were in better shape than at Siren Overlook – but whereas Siren Overlook was mostly covered in short grass with the occasional tiny white flower or stubborn shrub this was a veritable field of bright orange flowers broken only by the water lily filled pool running down the center.
Yellow: The Archivist's Journal, Day 60
Doffing my boots and carrying them in one hand, I waded in a short ways as I walked the perimeter of the spring. It’s curious how unafraid the fish and turtles swimming the shallows were of me. Most I could practically get within arm’s length before they darted away, and if I stood still for a few minutes, small schools of finger-length yellow fish would congregate in my shadow.
Green: The Archivist's Journal, Day 9
Hurrying to catch up with my young companion I pushed my way through the crooked door only to nearly trip over her. The morning light had transformed the interior space from a surreal void to an awe-inspiring expanse. Light filled the central nave. As green leaf-filtered streams on the high side windows. As vertical golden rays replacing the prior night’s columns of rain from holes in the roof. As an iridescent wave coming in from the bare remains of a curved stained glass window backlighting the statue of the Reader. All this reflected off the broad leaf and moss-filled puddles that stretched across much of the floor, still not evaporated days later. The side aisles were a tangle of roots from the trees above, quite possibly doing as much to hold the structure up as the pillars separating aisle from nave.
Indigo: Witch's Testament: The Fighter
Weapons are raised and aimed. The crowd begins to back away. Someone above cracks a joke about how they should have just skipped to waving guns around if it was going to be this easy to solve the problem.
The crowd only backs off so far though, most that made it through the outer gate are still on the inside of it. Those still stuck beyond push one another over the wall so some might get a better view. A lone figure left behind by the receding sea of people remains standing in the middle of the reef of broken and smoking drones, tens of meters from the protesters behind him and the forces before him. His dark clothes are long and billowing. His pointed hat is wide brimmed to hide his face. His serpentine familiar, assembled from scavenged and stolen parts, coils up one arm, over his shoulders, and down the other.
Someone in the line of hired guns makes an incredulous remark under his breath about cosplaying wizards.
The man corrects him to say that he’s a witch and his voice echoes through every loudspeaker, portable device, and auditory implant in the building.
The witch strides forward, his eyes glowing indigo from the shadows beneath his hat and matched by those of his slowly uncoiling familiar.
Someone gives an order to fire and an electrified dart wizzes past the unperturbed witch. Six more darts miss. Rubber bullets are loaded and combat implants lock in firing trajectories.
To the eyes of the security personnel, every shot should be a hit but impossibly passes through their target and out the other side. To the eyes of the protestors the witch is walking through a hail of bullets that are all miraculously going astray. To the eyes of the witch, every implant-assisted firing solution coming from the soldiers before him is being outlined in indigo and nudged to exactly where he wants it.
The witch has already crossed the security line and is on the steps of the building behind them by the time someone catches on and spins around to aim and fire manually. His familiar rears up and hisses. The shot goes wide as the entire security contingent seizes up, spasms, and falls to the ground.
The moment the witch crosses the threshold, every light in the building goes out, every door unlocks save for those to the roof and underground garage, and every camera becomes a witch’s eye.
Violet: A Dream About Purple
We are all too busy watching the game to notice anything wrong until a third team tries to take the field. Their uniforms are purple and their hair appears to be dyed to match. All of them wear the same vacant smile that crawled its way out of the uncanny valley and speak with offputting singsong voices.
It is only then that we all look up and see the storm rolling in, stretching across the horizon with clouds of that same unnaturally vibrant violet. Eerie music rides the wind ahead of the storm, heralding its imminent arrival.

For @incomingalbatross: your choice of Ozma or Glinda (book edition, of course!)
I have a perfect Ozma dress, but I used it for another cosplay last year. Didn't want to be redundant, so here's Glinda!
Glinda on her first appearance wears white (the "witch color" in Oz), so everything about this ensemble is white: the dress, the scarf, the belt, the shoes. It's also said that she "wears no jewels, for her beauty would shame them," but while interrogating Mombi at the end of The Marvelous Land of Oz, she wears a single pearl on a chain that turns black in the presence of lies, so I added an approximation of that to give the ensemble interest.
Fun fact: This is actually the back of the dress! The front is embroidered with pink lilies.
