hello! i am the original cosplayer and photographer of this image. i made the tv head by hand and as it spread around the internet, mainly pinterest, credit was stripped and the meaning changed.

this was taken over 6 years ago. since then, i have medically transitioned from male to female, and subsequently lost the life and friends i once knew, and moved clear across the country to try and carve out some resemblance of a life worth living.

i hope that if you see this, you know that i genuinely loved sharing the things i made, and i hope i can do it again. the persistent trauma of a life being uprooted has had me doing the creative equivalent of twiddling my thumbs for upwards of 3 years (this year will be 4 years on estrogen injections!)

recently, things are looking up! i had an orchiectomy, which has made me feel as if my soul is aligned with my body once again. i am becoming the most true version of myself, a person of light, and a being of creativity. i hope i’ll start doing silly original character cosplay again. i would really really like that. thank you for reading!

The Hat Man Cometh....

Whew! A while ago I resolved to do a main OC costume bingo (ive already done it in doll form 🤨) and after Pupet and Sulu, it was finally Rem's turn.

About this costume, the primary fabrics are velvet, satin, and dupioni from fabric wholesale direct. The eyes are either repainted googly eyes or glass cabochons. also dont hate me but i did edit my eyes bc you couldnt pay me to mess around with full sclera contacts.

About the OC, Rem belongs to a story about a dreaming kingdom and nightmare realm, where the dream kingdom is trying to lull people into permanent sleep. Rem works to counteract that force as the last nightmare acolyte, serving the nightmare lord Raken. he is in a very real sense: The Hat Man. Giving people nightmares is a messy job, and Rem is even messier mentally, but I enjoy writing him because of it. He also only dresses like this 15% of the time in cerimonial nightmare garb, he usually rocks a literal T-shirt and jeans.

Here's another OC cosplay hot off the presses! I wanted to stick to Sulu's actual character design and cartoony art style I usually draw him in for this project. I'm really happy with the cartoon look since its quite uncommon that i make things look pop cartoony in costume form.

Sulu as a character is a transient space wanderer who floats through an oceanic space world helping sea space denizens. His character is dedicated, wistful, and a complete workaholic to a fault. In general for the design style I took inspiration from gurren lagann, space dandy, and steven universe.
