3. Dress
Kara wore dresses. Lena had seen her wearing sundresses and skirts and even a cocktail dress once, and of course she’d worn a dress at the wedding and look very
(Painfully)
pretty
(Gorgeous)
in it.
So it wasn’t as if Lena had never seen her in a dress before. Still, if you asked Lena to picture Kara in her head, Lena would imagine her best friend in khaki pants that hugged her hips and displayed the impressive girth of her thighs, and of course the buns of steel. She would further visualize Kara wearing a plaid button-down tucked into a broad belt that emphasized the inhumanly flat plane or her muscular belly or the broad set of her block shoulders.
(If she didn’t visualize her wearing nothing at all)
Dresses simply didn’t seem to be her thing. She just felt right when she was a little… masc, one might say. Kara had a way about her, a swagger that worked with the belts and a habit of setting her arms with her hands in her hips that emphasized her physique.
Lena sometimes wondered how a pair of glasses had actually fooled her.
For the last eight weeks or so, Lena had been living in Kara’s apartment, sleeping on the couch in a weird state of limbo after she sold her penthouse. They had decided that Lena would soon be moving, but not where or when. Obviously she’d stay close -her life was here now, after all- but she wanted a change.
In a way, Lena was following in Kara’s footsteps, trying to relate to the world as her whole self. She’d come upon the idea of using a sort of checklist- reinventing herself with the same ruthless efficiency she brought to the lab and the boardroom. That was one part of herself that needed to go.
Lena’s whole life was constructed. She did everything she for a purpose, and that purpose no longer meant anything anymore. There was no longer a Lex or a Lillian to outmaneuver, no longer a board to persuade or dominate. She was running the Foundation, but from her laptop, and had hired Sam to handle the financials. She wasn’t even meeting with benefactors; she had people for that. Her main work focus now was a science education program for elementary school girls.
It was so liberating, not having to be the badass boardroom bitch. She’s stopped straightening her hair, abandoned her contacts in favor of chunky glasses, and, in a colossal shock to everyone, Kara included, stopped dyeing her hair black, a habit she’d picked up and kept because it pleased Lillian and kept up because stopping would be annoying.
She had even worn sweatpants. In public. Everyone in her family had been gifting her goofy clothes to wear; she was currently swaddled in a “Why Hex a Little When you Can Hexalotl” t-shirt that Kara had regifted, originally from Nia.
That was when Kara walked out of her bedroom area of the loft and Lena’s brain spun around and smacked against the front of her skull.
Kara was dressed to the nines in a black a-frame halter top mini dress that bared her shoulders and magnificent back, and she’d matched it with dark eye shadow and plum lipstick that was striking against her sun-kissed skin, and a pair of strappy high heels.
“Hey,” she said, sounding glum.
“Where are you off to?” Lena said, trying not to add the mental dressed like that.
“A date,” Kara sighed.
Lena kept her face even, despite the fact that her mind had just ripped in half. She was desperate to know why Kara sounded so glum, and also flat fucking terrified.
The idea of Kara going on a date horrified her. It made her instantly sick with worry -not just for Kara which was honestly a little silly- but because… because…
Lena was suddenly very aware that she didn’t want Kara to date. At all.
(Because she should be dating me)
Which sucked, because Kara was straight, because there was a god and he hated Lena Kieran Luthor and her accursed blood. That had to be why Lena was cursed to suffer a crush on
(be madly in love with)
the perfect girl who came from the sky.
“You look lovely,” said Lena. “Have fun.”
Kara blushed for a moment, then Looked at Lena a little oddly, a little forlorn.
“I’ll text you.”
Okay.
Kara left, and Lena was alone in Kara’s
(their)
loft with just herself and Zillow open on her laptop.
Lena browsed for a while, but none of the places looked right. They were all as if HGTV had puked onto an old house. The minimalism and open concepts reminded her too much of her Old Life. She wanted quirky. She wanted unique. She wanted a place that reflected who Lena really was.
Jesus H Christ, was this a mid life crisis? She wasn’t that old.
Lena was startled out of her reverie when the door swung open and Kara stormed in, slammed it shut, and kicked off her shoes, storming barefoot across the loft.
“Fucking asshole,” said Kara.
Lena blinked, stunned by the profanity, only to be filled with outrage.
“Kara? What happened?”
“This is the last time I let someone at work set me up on a date. I didn’t even want to go, Alex badgered me into it.”
Lena put her computer aside. Kara grabbed a pair of beers from the fridge and popped the lids with her thumbs as she sat down, which was literally one of the hottest things she did on a regular basis. She offered Lena one and took a pull on her own.
“He was a jerk,” said Kara. “I tried asking him whether a hot dog is a sandwich, and he just said ‘who cares’.”
“Kara, a hot dog is a sandwich. We’ve been through this.”
Kara glared at her. “I’m not doing this again, Lena. Not until you admit that a burrito is a sandwich.”
Lena rolled her eyes.
“The last straw was when he told me I shouldn't work out so much. He said my muscles make me look like a man."
Lena blinked. "Where did your coworkers find this jerk?"
"Accounting. He wouldn't shut up about his finance degree. He insisted on paying for everything, too. Oh, and he told me I eat too much! All I did was order some appetizers!"
Lena drained her beer and grabbed another. She listened patiently as Kara vented about this guy and the other various jerks she'd gone one date with.
"I'm doomed, Lena. Every guy is a dick and insecure around me."
At around this time, she finished beer five. Lena nodded.
“Even if I think it’s working I lose the spark. Like when James finally wanted to go out with me and I was just like ‘nah.’”
“James… was nah for me too,” said Lena.
(Honestly, Kara, you should try dating girls.)
“Wait,” said Kara, “What?”
Oh.
She said that one out loud.
Shit.
“Um,” Lena said, lamely panicking, “I um, that was a joke, I meant… well it… worked out for your sister?”
Kara gaped at her.
Lena swallowed hard. “Would you believe it sounded funny in my head?”
“Have you… ever dated girls?” said Kara.
Lena’s stomach almost shot out of her throat. She put her most recent beer down to keep it from sloshing as her hands shook. She looked at Kara, who looked back, expectant… and hopeful?
“Yes,” Lena admitted. “Jack was the only man. I ever dated except James, but there have been women, too. Not that many. Despite my reputation I was never that social.”
“Who?” Kara asked, immediately.
Lena licked her lips. “Andrea.”
Kara stared. “Andrea? Andrea Rojas? Really?”
“It was a teen thing that ended in our eariy twenties, but it was serious. So do you remember how I told you I knew Roulette from boarding school?”
Kara nodded.
“Well, I knew her, um, biblically.”
Kara snorted. “No way. Who else?”
Lena smiled. At least she wasn’t being weird about it.”
“You’re not saying no to trying it yourself,” said Lena.
Kara looked away.
“I…”
She took a drink of beer.
“There are no queer people on Krypton, Lena. There weren’t, I guess I should say.”
The pain in Kara’s voice made Lena shift closer, set aside her drink and curl a hand softly around her arm.
“You don’t have to tell me this if it hurts.”
Kara shook her head. “I… my culture would not allow anything, uh, gay. Or homosexual. Like we literally don’t even have a word for it, it’s so foreign to us. We were taught that the only acceptable pairing was for the best possible offspring. Most of my people didn’t have sex at all, it was all artificial. My aunt and uncle were some who did, they had Clark naturally.”
“So Kryptonians can’t be gay?”
Lena’s heart sank.
“I didn’t think so, but, there was this girl once and she made me feel something I never felt before… and seeing her made all of my other feelings feel different. After I saw her I suddenly felt like I was just going after guys because I was supposed to. Even when I was with Mon-El I had this feeling that… I mean it felt good and I liked being able to cut loose but it felt like…”
Lena waited, not wanting to push her.
“Frankly, it felt like using him as a sex toy. Nothing else in our relationship really felt that deep. Even when he came back and went to Argo with me, I was more happy about my mother seeing me continue our family line than I was about him actually being with me. The second time he left I almost felt relieved.”
“That’s a lot, Kara. I had no idea.”
“I had no idea you liked girls either,” said Kara.
“I really do,” Lena admitted. “Who was she, this girl that stole your heart? High school crush?”
“No,” said Kara. “I met her as Supergirl. The first time I ever saw her, I saved her.”
“Very romantic.”
Kara sighed. “She was the prettiest. She’s so soft, so inviting, and whenever she looks at me I feel like she’s staring right through me, seeing everything in a good way. She’s smart and kind and brave and she has the prettiest blue-green eyes and one of them is a little more blue and the other is a little more green.”
Lena felt the blood drain from her face as her hand shook. Kara smiled wistfully.
“I was always too scared to say anything. I didn’t think she’d ever want me the way I want her.”
Lena looked up and met Kara’s gaze.
“I want more than to not be alone,” said Kara. “I want to be understood. I want to be with someone but I want to be together with someone I can be alone with. Somebody who gets me, who likes what I like, who takes joy in sharing the things we love. Who looks really cute in my clothes. Especially the hexalotl shirt.”
Lena blinked.
“Oh.”
(Oh)
“I like all that stuff but also blondes with big muscles who fly.”
Kara lunged across the couch and had Lena’s arms in her grip, and suddenly was lying on top of her, in that dress. Lena stared up at her.
“I wonder who we know who fits that description,” said Kara.
“I want you to kiss me.”
Kara smirked and leaned down, bringing her lips to Lena’s, and Lena honest to god moaned into her mouth as the kiss deepened, panting with excitement. As if her intentions weren’t obvious, Lena ground herself against Kara, working her thigh between her legs.
“I thought you were straight,” Kara blurted out.
“As spaghetti,” said Lena.
“What?” Kara blinked.
“I’ll explain later. As great as that dress looks on you, darling, it’d look better on the floor.”

The Vampire Woman - Chapter 23
Tumblr media
Read it on AO3 here!
If Kara had the strength to do so, she would be pacing the length of the apartment right now but her legs just can’t sustain the energy levels required for anxious activities right now so instead she’s sat on a chair in the living room, her head tilted back, and she’s staring at the ceiling.
Lena is watching her from across the room but she’s got her laptop on her lap and she’s using it as a shield to hide herself so it’s not as obvious that she’s spending more time staring at her than she is working. To be fair, she’s gotten a few emails done and by a few, that means three in the last hour. Better than nothing.
Her mind isn’t focused at all. She wants to focus on her work but she’s struggling. She always struggles when she tries to work from home but this is immensely harder. Having Kara here is the perfect distraction to keep her from doing all of the things she needs to do and the position Kara’s sitting in definitely doesn’t help.
The way her neck is stretched back and oh-so-beautiful is a distraction in its greatest form. Part of her wonders if the beauty of this woman’s neck is what drew her towards her and created such a need to have her when she first encountered her but that thought is pushed away pretty quickly because the first time they met, she didn’t look at her neck, she just saw an easy target and went from there.
Classifying Kara as an easy target was her biggest mistake. She charmed her way out of being bitten the first time and then fought her way out with impressive garlic-throwing skills the next. She survived a fight with a bunch of savage vampires outside of L-Corp and then killed Lillian to defend herself inside. She’s a force to be reckoned with and you wouldn’t even know it just by looking at her now, her pouty face all soft lines and her nervous hands twitching in an unfamiliar rhythm against her thighs.
“She’s going to be here soon.” Kara looks down at her watch and tells Lena. “I don’t know how to explain it all to her without lying but I think I might have to.”
“You don’t have to outwardly lie, Kara, you just have to omit certain truths. You can say people broke into your apartment, you can say that someone from that group hurt you and you’re recovering. Hell, you can even say that you killed one in self-defence and it would be fine, but I’m not sure telling your boss you killed someone is a great idea.”
Kara sinks even further back. “I don’t know how to feel about that.”
“About lying to your boss by telling very specific truths?”
“No, about the fact that I killed Lillian. I’ve been trying to be ok with it, if I hadn’t, I would definitely be dead right now, even more dead than I was before you saved me, but I killed someone and I’m not sure how I’m meant to deal with that.”
Lena pushes the lid to her laptop closed. She’s not going to get any work done now. “It’s normal to have guilt over someone dying, Kara. She might have already been dead but as far as vampires go, we do feel pretty alive. I just…I think the world is safer without Lillian in it but I wish the burden of that happening wasn’t put on you.”
“I deserve it.”
“Why would you even say that?” Lena frowns, the laptop now being moved to a side table so she can lean forward, her elbows coming to rest on her knees.
“I felt bad after I hurt her the first time. It was me that made you bring her inside and so it’s my fault she was able to kill people inside the building. I didn’t know Ted Carlson very well but he didn’t deserve to get bitten and die. Vasquez didn’t deserve to die either. She was nice to me and I could tell she was a good person but now she’s dead and I’m left here wondering why I’m still alive when three people are dead because of me.”
“They aren’t dead because of you, Kara. They’re dead because of Lillian. You felt bad for hurting someone, which certainly doesn’t make you a bad person. The bad person in this situation is Lillian and she’s responsible for the deaths of Carlson and Vasquez. You’re not to blame but I know you don’t believe me. I’ll keep reminding you though, maybe one day you will believe that I’m telling the truth.
Kara shrugs. “I hope so too because it hurts.”
Lena looks down at her feet. The pain within Kara is palpable and while it’s taken a while for it all to sink in for Kara, which is understandable given everything else she’s been dealing with on top of it all, and it makes Lena feel like the worst person on the planet.
She’s hurt far more people than Kara has. She’s killed far more people than Kara has and yet she’s here completely composed while Kara is shattering on the inside. Perhaps it’s because it’s been so long or perhaps it’s just because she’s so numb to the concept of death now that it doesn’t hold as much weight to her anymore, but either way, she’s sure she doesn’t feel even half the pain Kara’s feeling right now.
Kara sniffs and looks down at her watch again. “She’s probably on her way up now. She’s not one to be late for things like this. The only time she’s ever late is when she’s going to galas because she likes to make a point that nobody is worth her time.”
“That’s very Cat Grant of her.”
“It really is.”
Three knocks are all they get when Cat finally does arrive. Kara makes to stand up but Lena sees the shake of her arms and the struggle to do so. It’s not as bad as it was and she is slowly getting better but she hasn’t been out in the sun yet today so she’s not as strong as she can be. Lena pushes her back down onto the chair with a steady hand on her shoulder and goes to get the door herself.
If Cat is surprised to see her answering the door instead of Kara, she does a good job of hiding it because there’s not so much as a raised eyebrow or a twitch of her lips.
“Come in,” Lena mutters as Cat starts making her way inside before she’s even had time to start opening the door wider so she can get by without having to turn on her side to squeeze through the gap.
She doesn’t wait for Lena to show her where to go either, she just wanders through the apartment with her eyes searching for the woman she came to see, a woman who isn’t Lena.
“Kara,” Cat says, taking a seat on the couch that is at a ninety-degree angle from the chair Kara is sitting on. She angles her body towards her and places her bag and the laptop bag she’s brought with her on the floor at her feet. “How are you?”
“I’m getting better and I’ll be even better now I can get some work done, I’m going stir crazy not having anything to do.” Kara smiles but Cat can see how unsteady it is and the fake undertones to everything she’s saying.
Cat shakes her head. “You’re lying to me, Kiera.”
“Ms Grant—”
“Tell me how you really are.” Cat cuts her off.
Kara takes a deep breath and her head drops down so she can stare at the floor. She can’t look her in the eyes while she says this. “I’m struggling.”
Cat’s voice responds in a tone much softer than usual. “Thank you for telling me that.”
Kara nods and Lena walks in. “Hey, Kara. Do you want me to stay or shall I go and be busy somewhere else?”
Lena receives a tight-lipped smile. “I’ll be fine, thanks, Lena.”
She grabs her laptop from where she left it on the side table and pats Kara’s shoulder on the way past her as she heads for her bedroom. She’ll go and hang out in there while Cat is here and give them some space.
Neither Kara nor Cat speaks until they hear the clicking of the door behind Lena, at which point Cat asks the obvious question. “So, you are now in a relationship with Lena Luthor?”
Kara flails for a moment. “I—I…No. We’re not together like that. We’re just friends.”
“But you want more. Don’t lie to me, you forget the way I saw you pine for James for a while before you finally clued into his mediocrity.”
Kara’s head rolls to one side in defeat. She’s never had the ability to hide her feelings from Cat, always either way too transparent or too easy for someone with impeccable reporting skills like Cat to read. “It’s complicated.”
“I doubt that,” Cat responds. “I think it’s actually very simple.”
“You do?”
Cat nods once. “Yes. You like her, that much is obvious and by the way I’ve seen her act around you, even for the few moments it was, it’s very clear she has feelings for you too.”
Kara’s eyebrows furrow, replaying her brief interaction with Lena in her mind. “I don’t understand.”
“She’s protective of you. She was protective of you on the phone when she tried to ban me from seeing you and she was protective of you when she came in here to ask you if you wanted her to stay. She likes you, Kara, don’t be blind.”
“Oh.” Kara’s eyes widen.
Cat rolls her eyes at Kara. “I thought we had gotten past the point where I have to hold your hand through life so you don’t miss it.”
Kara ducks her head for a second time. “Thank you, Ms Grant. You’ve given me a lot to think about.”
“Oh no, you’re not thinking about anything. When you think, you back out of whatever it is that scares you. As soon as I leave you’re going to grab that woman and kiss her because the tension in this apartment is so thick it’s suffocating. Got it?”
“I…” Kara hesitates.
“If you don’t kiss her, I will.”
“Ok, I’ll talk to her after.” Kara gives in.
Cat shakes her head. “I said kiss, not talk.”
“I can’t just walk up to her and kiss her.”
“Sure you can. Your lips work because you’re using them to argue with me and you’re wasting your breath. I’m helping you sort out your love life here, or your severe lack of a love life.”
Kara buries her face in her hands. “I’ll handle it, Ms Grant, can we please just move on?”
“I suppose it’s best we do because you look seconds away from having a stroke just at the prospect of having a life like an ordinary human being.” Cat shifts her weight, uncrossing her legs and then recrossing them the other way. “So, tell me about your apartment.”
Kara relaxes again, not fully but she’s back to the level she was before Cat brought up her feelings for Lena. She’s prepared for the questions about what happened to her, she was not prepared for the questions about her relationship with Lena. “What do you want to know first?”
“Just start at the beginning.”
Kara’s head moves in a nodding motion as she filters through what happened so she can try and pick out the parts she can talk about. “Well, my apartment got broken into and it was done by a group of people from Lena’s past. I think they were targeting her company because she’s got some really impressive stuff coming up, the articles I was going to write were going to talk all about them.
“Somehow, I think they must have found out I was going to write the articles and they targeted me. My apartment got trashed when I wasn’t there and I got attacked by one of them. I don’t know exactly who they are and neither does Lena but she recognises them.”
Cat gasps when Kara reveals that she was attacked by someone. She was expecting it but that’s nothing quite like having someone straight up admit to being assaulted. “You were hurt badly?”
Kara takes a sharp breath in. “Yeah. It was a bad fight.”
Leaning forward, Cat does something that takes Kara by surprise, she covers Kara’s hand with her own. “What happened to the person that attacked you? Were they stopped or caught or did they get away?”
“None of the above,” Kara replies, her voice tight. “I killed her.”
A heavy sigh is the only response she gets. The hand on her own doesn’t get pulled back, it doesn’t tighten, she doesn’t go tense, she just takes the information for what it is.
“It was a one-on-one fight. She tried to kill me and it was close but I won. I’m not so sure as though that’s something I should be happy about though.” Kara’s eyes fill with tears she doesn’t want to cry. She’s not sure she deserves to be able to cry.
Kara’s head shoots up when Cat stands up, pulling her hand back finally. She watches as Cat picks up the bags and is expecting her to leave her, probably out of disgust or something akin to it, but she doesn’t leave, she moves the bags and puts them on the other chair on the other side of the couch and moves over from where she was sitting before on the couch. “Come here.” Cat gestures to the space where she was just sitting.
Kara reacts quickly, so quickly in fact that she trips part way through getting up. In her rush to get to Ms Grant, she forgot that her legs are still shaky and she has to take it slow to her left leg buckles beneath her and she has to catch herself on the arm of the couch.
Cat’s arms dart out to steady her. “Here, let me help you.”
With the help of Cat, Kara manages to sit down carefully beside her without becoming out of breath. “Thanks.”
“Kara, I want you to look at me now,” Cat announces, her voice as commanding as she can make it. Once Kara meets her eyes, she holds her gaze, unblinking. “You are not to blame for that woman’s death. Killing someone in self-defence isn’t murder and she’s the only person to blame. You deserve to be happy and live the rest of your life knowing that you deserve it.”
Kara tears her eyes away from Cat’s. “I don’t know how to do that, Ms Grant.”
She’s pulled into Cat’s embrace in a flurry of movement and the physical comfort is everything she needs for the dam to finally break and the tears to spring free.
“Oh, Kiera. You’re much too innocent for this world. What you do is you keep going. You hold your head up high and you live your life in a way that makes you happy. You can be sad and you can mourn and you can get stuck in the past but what does that achieve other than to destroy one more life? You can add so much good into this world if you live up to your potential and you will have people with you every step of the way, of that I’m certain.”
Tears pour freely down Kara’s face and heaving sobs force their way free from Kara’s throat. She’s just so emotionally drained by this point that she doesn’t even know how to being to process everything that’s happened since she met Lena. She’s been attacked a whole bunch of times; a bunch of really terrible and traumatizing things have happened and the person that has brought all of this to her feet is super hot and she has a crush on her. It’s not ideal.
“God, I’m a mess.” Kara cries, her hands clinging to the back of Cat’s shirt.
“That’s ok. We’re all a little messy at times.” A hand rests on the back of Kara’s head, stroking gently.
They remain in that position until Kara’s tears stop and then she pulls back and uses her sleeves to wipe her face. “I’ll be ok.”
“You will. We’ll all make sure of it.” Cat holds onto Kara’s shoulders, the pressure an attempt to ground her. “You’re not dealing with anything alone. Now, this is very important, Kara. How is everything going with the police? Is there a threat that you could be charged with anything?”
Kara’s eyes widen. She didn’t think about that. “Um, I don’t…I’m not sure. Lena has dealt with everything, I’ve just sort of been recovering.”
Cat looks at her strangely, probably because it’s remarkably obvious there is truth being omitted but her focus is drawn away from it anyway. “Recovering from what exactly? What injuries did you get?” Her eyes travel down Kara’s body and it means she’s got to come up with something quickly.
“I…well…”
“She got a bad head injury,” Lena answers, strolling casually into the room. “Sorry to interrupt. I just forgot to grab something.”
“I see.” Cat watches Lena closely while she moves through the room over to the chair where she was sitting earlier and then eases up when she pulls a notebook from beside it since she didn’t fully trust that she was telling the truth before.
“Her memory was shot for a few days and it’s left her weak. She’s seen a physiotherapist and has some exercises she does a couple of times a day. Other than that, it was mainly cuts and bruises which have pretty much healed at this point. The head injury was the worst one.”
“Hmm.” Cat sees her prey and locks on. “Kara couldn’t tell me anything about a police report, can you shed some light on that for me.”
Lena nods, her shoulders back to make herself appear as open as possible. “Yeah, I’m not surprised Kara can’t tell you much, I’ve tried to keep her out of it, it’s something she doesn’t need to stress about on top of everything else. There won’t be any repercussions against Kara since there was CCTV footage of the altercation, proving that she acted solely in self-defence. There are no worries there. I have my lawyers dealing with the investigation into the group and they are handling everything to do with the…altercation between Kara and the woman that attacked her.”
“And she wasn’t approached by the authorities for a statement?”
“She was approached in the hospital but for the first couple of days she was really out of it and her memory was all over the place. They didn’t try again for a statement after the footage was turned over, her injuries and the tape were enough to prove that it was self-defence.”
Cat leans into the back of her couch with her shoulder since she’s sitting at an angle. “That’s good. Let me know if you need more legal resources, I can have my team get in touch with yours if necessary.”
Lena smiles warmly. “I appreciate that. I think they have it covered but I’ll keep the offer in mind in case that changes.”
“Please do.” Cat moves her attention back to Kara. “So, are you still having memory issues?”
“No,” Kara answers quickly but then sees the hard stare Lena is giving her. “Well, not really.”
Cat’s eyes narrow. “Well, which is it?”
Lena jumps back in. “She’s mostly better, a few hiccups but most of the memory loss is from a couple of days before the attack and then for a couple of days after so other than that, she’s been pretty good. Honestly, I kind of think some of the post-attack memory loss is due to the confusion and meds she was on.”
“Makes sense.” Cat murmurs. “Well, is there anything I can do for you, Kara?”
In response, Kara shakes her head. “I really don’t think so. Just let me work to get my head away from what happened, even just the hour a day you’ve allowed me is going to help me out a lot.”
Reminded of why she’s here, Cat gestures to the laptop bag she put on the chair. “I brought you the laptop and some notes to give you a hand on getting the hang of editing a little more since you’ve only done it passively up until now. Don’t push yourself too hard and if it’s too much, just call me and I can either dial it down or we can postpone working for a while. Your job is safe, Kara, there’s no need to rush anything. That being said, I don’t want to be receiving subpar work, if you aren’t going to be able to do it well, don’t do it at all.”
“I hear you. Thank you, Ms Grant. I will keep that in mind and I’ll keep you in the loop. I promise.” Kara’s hands press together in thanks, looking like she’s about to start praying but she’s just so glad she can get some kind of normalcy back that she doesn’t care how pathetic it makes her look.
There’s a softness to Cat’s eyes that Kara doesn’t see very often and usually, she would dismiss it as Cat just being in a good mood but she can see now that it’s because she genuinely does care for her in the same way she cares for Cat. They have truly become friends over the years and that’s something Kara has questioned many a time because she couldn’t believe it but seeing the way Cat’s colder demeanour returns whenever her attention is drawn to Lena and then disappears when she’s talking to her is quite striking.
“One more thing before I go and let you rest, Kara.”
“Sure, anything.”
“I’m going to send some of the more useless people from around the building to do some work for once and handle your apartment for you. You’re in no state to do so yourself.”
Kara sighs and opens her mouth, her head already shaking to try and turn down Cat’s offer except it’s not really an offer.
“It’s happening. You focus on getting better. I told you, Kara, you have people around you who can support you, you just have to let them. I will get your things moved out of your apartment. Where should I have them sent? Here?”
Lena jumps in. “Here is fine. There’s no point in putting it in storage until you’ve got everything you need to last you a while. Just have them toss any broken furniture though, we can get you new stuff when you get yourself a place when you’re better.”
“Between the pair of you, I’m not going to have a choice in any of this, am I?”
Lena answers for both herself and Cat. “Nope, we’re here to make sure you don’t kill yourself just because you’re too independent to accept help.”
“Fine. I’ll let you help and I will be very grateful for it. I am very grateful for it.” Kara responds, not bothering to suppress her smile.
Cat looks between the pair and then leans in towards Kara, pulling her into another hug. Kara gasps, the movement taking her by surprise for a second but then she slumps into the embrace. She’s released quickly but the message is clear. Cat is here for her if she needs her.
As soon as she releases Kara from her grasp, she stands up and grabs her purse from the chair and slings it over her shoulder. Then she takes the laptop bag and puts it on the couch where she was just sitting. “Take a look, if it’s too much, don’t do it.”
“Ok. Thank you for coming and for everything else.”
“Of course. Take care of yourself and remember that promise you made about what you’d do when I left.”
Kara’s eyes go wide, looking between Cat and Lena, who is looking pretty darn confused. “I never promised anything.”
“Yes, you did, follow through, Danvers, follow through,” Cat says and then looks at Lena one last time. “You keep an eye on her. You hear me?”
“Loud and clear, Ms Grant and I will have my people in touch with your people over those articles.”
“You better. Have a good day, ladies, I will see myself out.” Cat says and makes her way to the door before Lena can argue about etiquette.
Lena and Kara exchange a look of amusement and Lena is the first to break into a laugh. “She’s really something.” She moves the laptop bag to the floor and sits down next to Kara who muses about how much the bag has been moved around in the last few seconds.
“I know. She’s got a soft, gooey centre though, as you just saw. It doesn’t come out very often though.”
Lena smiles. “I saw. Now, I think you’re meant to kiss me.”
Kara’s eyes bulge and her jaw drops. “What? You heard?”
Lena shrugs. “I couldn’t help it, I had to listen so I could help you out if you got stuck on any questions, I was quite shocked to hear her call you out for liking me although I will say that I am very happy to hear it because she was right about me liking you back.” She’s taking her chance now while she has it, she’d be a fool to pass it up and well, Sam was right when she told her she was a fool. She might have to watch everyone she cares about die but losing the people she loves isn’t as bad as never loving anyone at all.
For the most part, Kara is just speechless. She agreed to speak to Lena to get Cat off her back, she was never going to actually follow through with it. With everything on their plates at the minute, it feels a lot like bad timing. Now though, now it’s being offered up to her on a platter, how could she say no?
“I just messed up, didn’t I?” Lena asks, shrinking back into herself at the lack of reaction from Kara.
Kara’s hand shoots out to rest on Lena’s cold wrist. “No.” It comes out high-pitched and weird so she clears her throat and tries again. “No. I’m just…shocked, I guess. I wasn’t expecting you to say that.”
“Oh, ok,” Lena says, her gaze flitting between Kara’s face and Kara’s hand, which is where Kara’s focus is drawn to as she thinks.
“Can I kiss you?” Kara asks, finally looking up into the green eyes that have held control of every breath she’s taken and every beat of her heart since she’s seen them, even before she knew what that meant.
Lena responds by pressing her free hand against Kara’s cheek and drawing her closer, her lips latching onto Kara’s as soon as she’s within reach. Kara leans into it and her hands move up to clutch the back of Lena’s neck, holding her close and not letting her go.
Their hands press onto each other insistently, both trying to get the other as close as possible but alas, the kiss has to break at some point, that point being when Kara runs out of breath. At first, when she tries to pull back, Lena doesn’t let her but when she pushes back on her shoulders, she’s released.
“You might not have to breathe but I do.” She grins, breathing deeply for a few moments before diving back in.
Lena shows her annoyance at having to stop by bringing her teeth out and dragging them along her lip softly, biting down with just enough force that it makes her lip tender but not enough to break the skin. It draws a groan from the back of Kara’s throat and she presses even closer, nipping back at Lena when she gets the chance, sans the sharp teeth.
They do eventually part, both of them looking a mess from the way they resorted to running their fingers through each other’s hair. “That was…wow. I wasn’t expecting that.” Kara pants.
“Me neither. I have no complaints.” Lena answers, a smile crossing her lips.
“I wouldn’t mind a repeat performance.” Kara throws out there.
Lena’s grin widens. “I wouldn’t either but it’s high time you got out in the sun for a while so go and get your ass out there. Take the laptop with you and do some work if you must but neither of us would have a good time if you faint in the middle of…it just wouldn’t be a good time.”
Kara tips her head to the side briefly in acceptance. “I’ll give you that. Let me just grab a drink first then I’ll go outside but first, one more for the road.”
Lena isn’t about to deprive Kara of what she so clearly needs, “besides, I did promise the mighty Cat Grant that I would keep an eye on you. I think keeping my lips on you will be a good substitute.”
“Oh god, you’re so corny.” Kara gasps but goes for another kiss.
Her quip is ignored and Lean focuses on making the most out of this kiss before she has to usher Kara away to go and sit outside for a while, somewhere Lena won’t be able to get to her, something that feels a whole lot like torture right about now.
Another minute goes by with Kara having no self-control and Lena barely clinging to the one rational brain cell she has left that is telling her she needs to part from Kara’s delicious lips so her health doesn’t suffer.
Lena pulls away from Kara, a hand at the base of her neck keeping her from following. As she does part form her though, she tugs on her bottom lip with her teeth, taking it with her for a moment before she lets it pop back into place.
“Ok, go, before you never make it outside.”
“I’m not complaining.”
Lena stands up, her head shaking at Kara, a mirth settling in her eyes. “Normally, I wouldn’t either but you have to get your vitamin D.”
“Oh yeah, I gotta get that D,” Kara snickers to herself.
“Oh, dear lord.” Lena facepalms. “You stay here and control yourself; I’ll go grab you a drink while you do that.”
Kara mock salutes her, a cheeky grin on her face, her mood lifted in light of the recent developments. She was not expecting that to happen just now but she’s certainly not complaining about it. It’s probably going to bring up a couple of problems here and there for them at certain points and there’s a lot they will need to discuss but she’d like to give it a go between them.
One of the things that she’s not looking forward to is the potential awkwardness surrounding them being roommates whilst potentially dating, which could get messy fast it if doesn’t work out. That’s saying that Lena actually wants to be in a relationship. Sure, she said that she has feelings for her but that could just mean that she wants to have a sexual relationship and Kara wants more than that.
“Here you go.” Lena wanders in and hands her the glass she just filled with water for her.
Kara takes it distractedly. “Thank you.”
Lena frowns. “Ok, what’s going on?”
“What did you mean when you said you liked me?” Kara looks up at her, her eyes imploring her to tell the truth.
Lena sits back down beside her and laces their fingers together. “I don’t know how I can be much more obvious than that. I like you; I want to take you out on a date sometime, preferably after dark.”
“Oh…good.”
“Why? What were you expecting?”
Kara presses her lips together tightly, rolling them once before pushing her embarrassment aside. “I thought you were about to ask to be friends with benefits or something and that wouldn’t work for me, I want to be more than that.”
“Me too,” Lena replies, a little horrified that Kara thought that. “I wouldn’t want to just be friends with benefits either. Want to talk about it in more detail later, maybe tonight after dark and you’re back inside?”
“I’d like that but I don’t like the subtle push to get me outside.”
Lena shrugs. “I think it was a good push.”
“Not very subtle though.”
Lena rolls her eyes and starts guiding Kara up by the hand she still has entwined with her own. “I wasn’t trying to be now go, take the laptop and your drink. I’ll be right in here, go try out the balcony.”
“Ok, ok. I’ll see you later.”
“Yes, you will.” Lena carries the drink and bag to the balcony door for her and only when Kara pauses to grab her phone does she have an amazing idea. “Want to talk on the phone through the glass like you’re a prisoner and I’m visiting you?”
“What makes you think I’m the prisoner and not you?”
“The key is on this side of the door.”
“Mean. Let’s do it though.”

Where Plumerias Bloom - 19.
Lena sighs and pushes her laptop away, the spreadsheets she had been forced to double check all blurring into one after hours of staring at the screen. Her thoughts have been straying towards Andrea all morning, the train-track crease between her brows growing deeper as she glances towards her cell phone and notices there are still no new notifications.
She tries her hardest to be patient, well aware that this morning will have been incredibly difficult for Andrea, but Lena’s chewed thumb nail tattles on her true state of mind.
Lena won’t be able to settle until she hears from her.
For all of their teasing and joking around, Lena is painfully aware that Andrea’s situation is serious and that it would have taken a lot of inner strength for someone as stubborn as her to submit to Cat’s punishment.
Especially when Andrea has spent the last decade fighting every single authority figure in her life with a borderline feral vigor.
And, assuming it did indeed go ahead, Lena is glad that Andrea has stumbled upon someone who is able—and willing—to pull her back from the edge before she can do too much damage to herself and her reputation. Lena is actually proud of her best friend for allowing herself to be tucked underneath someone’s wing and she prays that her newfound trust in Cat Grant is warranted.
Groaning, Lena pushes herself away from the desk and heads down to the office canteen. Her brother and Lillian are out of town on some secret business, so at least she can’t get yelled at for taking a break.
Lena steadfastly ignores the creepy guy who follows Lex around like a lost puppy and pours herself a coffee, avoiding all eye contact with him until the weirdo leaves and closes the door behind him. She deflates with a heavy sigh and glances at the clock, her tongue clicking in annoyance as she realizes that she’s still stuck here for another three hours at the very least.
Lex and Lillian’s business trip, which is probably something shady as Hell, is the first break Lena has had from feeling their breath down the back of her neck. It’d be more enjoyable, though, if she hadn’t been left with a ton of crappy little jobs to complete in order to keep her out of trouble.
She sighs again and is just about to top up her coffee mug when her phone vibrates in her pocket.
“Andrea,” Lena breathes out, answering within a split second, “are you alright?”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I edited this post from what it said before to a more accurate post; I was kind of off-base about some things.
All the different people I could find in the trailer that looked like they had something to do with the plot-and my musings about them mixed with some of Arglefumph's thoughts from his reveal reaction.
The first guy feels like he's more the person who brings Nancy into the mystery, like he's her superior in the case like Sophia Leporace from VEN. And the long haired blonde {who I think Arglefumph said was named Adela} is the owner of the necklace. The rest though...are they all suspects? 'Cause that's a LOT of suspects :D.
I feel like we befriend Radek, since there's a clip of only Nancy and him sleuthing in the...prisons? dungeons? And he seems to know some things that would endanger him and make the culprit(s) come after him, since he's the one who says that "Monsters in Prague sometimes don't look it", or something to that effect.
The first older guy doesn't have much screen-time, but I think he's the one talking about the history of Prague in the beginning and then he's talking about the Alchemists back in the day being very clever; so, he's an historian?
Oskar, the only clips I've seen of him so far have been of him on the phone or angry, sooooooo...is he suspect #1? 'Cause the clips HER puts out of specific characters does help set the mood of each character, right? Plus, he kinda seems like a Thanos-from-LIE type character in that you don't wanna mess with him. Argle said he's the main museum guy, and the fact that he's somewhat cranky and always on the phone + I'm sure we'll have to snoop in his desk {probably the one we saw in the trailer} at some point; is he the one in the black market?
Lady with the flowers looks like the owner of the coffee shop, and since Adela and her seem to get into a fight; is it a case where one of the people who bring us into the case is the bad guy and are trying to cover their tracks {but what would Adela have to gain?}, or is Coffee-Shop-Lady suspect #2 and is one of the most suspicious suspects?
The second older guy seems like a tourist guide/business owner who deals with tourists a lot, and that's most all of what I gleaned from his very short screen-time.
Elka also seems to be friendlier than quite a few of the other characters in the trailer, she has a laptop with a whole lotta stickers from Nancy's cases, we've learned more about her than really any of the others, and she's the one telling us to be careful online, so my speculations of her are: she's a fan of Nancy's and so she wants to be friends with us/help us? Maybe we team up with her {and/or Radek} {and possibly Ned if he's in the game physically at all?} unofficially to figure out who's stolen the gems? After all, she's the one who's most associated with technology {which also makes her more of a suspect, lol}.
And the last lady-the Lillian Weiss lookalike. I just found out she's the jewelry store owner, and doesn't seem the happiest about Nancy asking questions about the stolen gems, although that could be just her protecting her job? In any case, this lady from the trailer seems kinda cranky and implied that everything with the necklace was fine when everyone else was sure the gems were fake, so is she hiding something about the case? Is she the one in the black market?
Honestly, I don't know anything about these characters other than what's been officially stated, so this is all just theory, but what about you guys? What do you think of each of the characters? Do you agree with me on some things, or do you have way different ideas of these guys?

Thursday 30th March ✩  “Roleplaying” (Flip-Reverse) @harringrove-flip-reverse-it
“Billy?”
No reply.
He could’ve sworn he heard giggling.
Probably just next door.
Steve walks over to the kitchen retrieving his coffee. When he arrived home Billy was fast asleep, a usual habit right after class. Steve’s been busying himself with light cleaning and leftover classwork.
He grumbles at cigarette butts littering the coffee table, it’s a habit his boyfriend’s been trying to kick for a while but sometimes he relapses.
He brushes them into the trash and moves towards the fireplace, righting any lopsided decor. There are photo’s dating all the way back to 10th grade when they first met, picking one up he wipes it fondly.
It’s been six years of love, conflict and forgiveness.
Steve bites his lip, he’s been mulling over the decision of getting down on one knee, even has the ring picked! It’s been broached as abstract over the dinner table but when Steve gets into the details he tends to clam up. It's been real hard navigating the landmine of Billy Hargrove’s feelings.
His boyfriend is a free spirit, a wild bird and he’d never want to make Billy feel as though he’s tie-ing down him down.
There’s movement in the bedroom again, now Billy’s laughter is loud and clear. Steve can hear words being said so he puts his ear against the door trying to decipher.
'Oh no, Billy what are you doing?? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?”
A pause,
'Steve not you too! can you please pick her up at least?"
The blonde normally talks to himself when playing games, it’s a cute quirk he’s always had. Steve especially loves to hear his stream of thoughts when they play horror games together, never ceases to crack him up.
He turns the handle walking in. Billy is faced away playing on that crappy  school provided Chromebook. Strange.. he normally uses the PC in the living room for personal things
"Babe?"
His boyfriend spins in the chair, slamming the laptop shut. The fan working overtime, an awkward ambience.
"oh, hey Steve."
"What are you playing?"
He spins around a few times “Nothing…”
Steve walks up to him, stilling Billy's chair. "Can I see?" He uses those irresistible puppy eyes. "Please?"
"Fine... don’t laugh"
He opens the laptop showcasing a household on a new game he’s been obsessing over, Steve still can’t really understand the allure. It also has a funky name, Simps? Sism?
Billy shyly gives a tour of a family consisting of Steve and him, happily married with three kids. Lillian, Sammy and Cecilia.
Steve raises an eyebrow. “Do I not get a say on our children's names?”
Billy looks away, blushing. "I thought you wouldn't be interested.."
Steve laughs, kissing his cheek, “Is this us in the future?"
His face tints red. "Maybe"
Steve smiles into the affection. He knows what he's got planned for their next date.
I don’t know if sims counts as a role playing game but to it does to me >:) , I’m gonna queue this one since it’s my birthday!! and I’m gonna be out, love coming back home to the plethora of Billy content <3
Hope you guys enjoy this short sweet one!

Sweet Love-Chapter 1
Fandom: Supergirl
Relationships: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor, Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Alexa Luthor-Danvers (OC), Liza Luthor-Danvers (OC), Jess, Lillian Luthor, Alex Danvers, Kelly Olsen, Krypto, Mable Longhorn (OC)
Summary: Lena is stressed about about family and work decisions that need to be made. Kara believes that a family vacation is in order to get away from everything. However, things don't go according to plan.
Chapter: 1/?
Lena continued to stare at the form in front of her. She was supposed to submit it hours ago, but she had doubts about it now. She sighed as she went to turn on the fan. The summer heat was starting to get to her. She stared at the screen again frustrated that she couldn’t make a decision. She took several deep breaths and decided to focus on another subject she had been putting off: work. There were several projects that needed her approval. One was to approve the location of the new children’s hospital they were building. Another was to open a store location for their tech, and the other was to finish the process of making their company completely green by adding solar powered roofs to all their buildings. She looked through all three files and became even more frustrated. She hated not knowing what decision to make. She slammed the top of the laptop down. She placed her head in her hands and screamed.
After a minute, she felt hands on her shoulders and felt a kiss on the top of her head.
“Is everything okay?” asked Kara softly.
Lena looked up and saw Kara above her. Her bright blue eyes were staring at her with concern.
Lena sighed and said, “I didn’t mean to scream. I am just annoyed that I can’t seem to make a decision recently.”
Kara started rubbing Lena’s shoulders which caused her to relax into her. She started to feel the stress of the day start to drift away.
After a couple of minutes, Kara asked, “Did you want to talk about why you are so worked up?”
Lena didn’t want to talk in particular, but she knew if she didn’t, the shoulder rubs would stop, and she didn’t want that to happen.
“Work has been stressful. I have three projects at work that I’m not able to make any decisions on.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes, why would there be anything else?” asked Lena with a nervous laugh.
“Well, I got a call from Principal Grey. She was wondering why we haven’t submitted the skip grade forms for the girls.”
Lena sighed as the stress started to creep back up her spine.
Lena looked up at Kara with sad eyes and a pout, “Don’t be mad, but…”
“You are having second thoughts,” mused Kara.
Lena looked down in embarrassment and said, “How do you know me so well?”
“It would be kind of bad if I didn’t after all this time,” chuckled Kara.
Lena softly hit Kara, smiled, and said, “Don’t make fun. I’m serious.”
“Okay. Okay. I know that having Liza going to the 7th grade and Alexa in the 8th grade can seem daunting…”
“My babies are only ten,” sniffed Lena.
“They are ten, but they are not being challenged in the current grades they are in now.”
“Maybe we can have them do self study instead while…”
“That is not going to work,” sighed Kara.
“Why not?” pouted Lena.
“Do you remember why we even started the process of transferring them to different grades?”
“The other students were jealous of their brilliance,” Lena scoffed.
“Lena…”
“What? It is true.”
“That is not the whole story. The girls were a distraction in class. Liza would take out a book and headphones and listen to music while she read.”
“At least she wasn’t bothering the other children.”
“And then there was Alexa. She had built a mini stove into her desk and recorded herself making meals and desserts.”
“It showed ingenuity.”
“It caused the class to want to participate in what the girls were doing instead of following the teacher’s instruction. The girls are so far ahead that the teachers don’t have any other assignments that they could give them.”
“There has to be another compromise instead of pushing them up from the fourth grade,” pouted Lena.
“They both tested at the 10th grade level on all of their subjects. What we have right now is the compromise. They at least will be with people that they know. Billy will be in the same grade as Alexa and Zatanna will be in the same grade as Liza.”
Lena sighed in defeat.
“I just want what’s best for the girls,’ Lena muttered.
Kara embraces her, kisses her on the check, and says, “We both do. Which is why I submitted the forms 15 minutes ago.”
“What!”
“This is something that we had agreed to do over a month ago.”
“But, there are so many more factors to consider.”

My thought on season five.
It took way too long. Partly because of laptop trouble. Mostly because of Lena’s stupid bastardous existence. But I’ve finally finished season five of supergirl. And as always. I have Opinions. Some of which many will most likely hate. So please. Read the fucking tags before you click the readmore. It’ll save you a helluva lot of time. Got that? Good. Now let’s begin.
I still miss Mon El. It’s A Super Life was nowhere near enough. Kara needs her soulmate dammit. I know it ends with Kara becoming The Sponge Who Could Fly. But she, and we, deserved Mon El back full time.
I miss Winn and I miss James. I know why they’re actors left. And I don’t blame them for leaving. I blame the hellers of the fandom. But still. I miss them
I’m loving dansen. No notes. Yet.
I really like Andrea. She’s much more sympathetic than Lena is.
I’m loving William. I know he dies. And I’m bracing myself for it. But right now he’s the Graham Humbert to Kara’s Emma Swan. If you you know what I mean.
It’s. A novelty to see Buono play a modern role after seeing her in Mad Men and Stranger Things. I don’t like Gamenae. I’m just saying it’s a novelty.
I found Lex screaming in Lena’s face at the end of The Missing Link to be incredibly cathartic. It was high time that she got yelled at.
I still maintain that Lillian is the superior Luthor. Far more impressive, and better acted, than her bastard stepdaughter could ever hope to be.
Once again. Everyone brings their A Game. Except for Lena’s actress.
I am STILL pissed off about the wonky as fuck morality system in this show. And I FULLY believe that I am always going to be pissed off about it.
There’s probably more. But this is all I can think of right now. So. Tell me what you think?

Note
how do the bc boys know that they’re in love with their girls? Like it there a certain moment for them
Will: watching Bailey grow as a mom for Max as she tries to be the best mom possible. Whilst she’s obviously meant to prioritise her son she does it without thinking and with such ease.
Ryan: after the winter musical Ryan took Ava to get ice cream and she was just rambling on in the passenger seat about how nervous she was and when she caught Ryan grinning as he stared at her she went all quiet as her cheeks turned red. As he craved watching her like that he realised he loved her.
Cutter: before every game Lillian sends Cutter messages of encouragement and after away games he gets either a five minute voice note with a sore throat because she’s been screaming at her laptop because the ref is stupid or she’s happy because he won. One time she missed the messages because she was sick and the way he wanted to fly back when Ava told him made Cutter realise that he loved her.

Little Voices in My Head | Who Made Me A Princess
[Part 1]
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Before I begin, I want to say two things: Hi, it's been a while. I hope you all are alright. And this story doesn't take place in the canon setting of WMMAP. It takes place in the world of Emperor's Treasured Son, an amazing fanfic written by Celena Noelle. Please read that before proceeding. My story will be diverging from it from chapter 15 onwards.
Also unrelated but the fancy dividers will look weird on mobile, so, if it happens to bother you, please read on pc/laptop.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Even after so many years, Claude was somehow still distant towards Athanasia. At times, it even felt like he was being cold to her. Athanaris tried to talk to him about it, but Claude refused to address the matter.
However, Athan could almost understand. Claude, being as protective as he is, didn't like how his son took hits for both Diana and Athanasia.
Nevertheless, he tried to bring it up whenever he could, once mentioning that Athy was as much his child as he was. At this, Claude only stared at him blankly. "Father, please don't tell me you don't consider her your daughter!" "Athan, I think it's time for your lessons." "Father!" "There now, you don't want to be late."
Powerless in this situation, Athanaris left the room, huffing.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Athanasia, on the other hand, was trying to brave it through and prayed that she'll be alright. Knowing how "The Lovely Princess" ended, she was scared that the plot was just recovering itself after 7 years worth of filler. (counting from when she was 5)
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
The last straw fell on a completely unremarkable afternoon. The emperor and his children were in his study when he noticed that someone was waiting outside the room. Claude opened the door with magic and said with venom, "I will not have anyone eavesdropping in on my precious break time. Leave. Don't show your face unless I summon you." Athan was absently listening while reading a book and Athy was looking at the door while all this transpired. But as soon as she turned her head back, she saw the emperor looking at her as well.
Only then did it occur to her that those words might apply to her as well.
"Oh my goodness," she started, causing her brother to raise his head, "I completely forgot about my books by the window. I need to get them," Athan offered to help but she politely declined and sped out of the room.
Athan realised that for the first time, in all the years he's known her, Athy's emotions were natural and honest. And she was honestly frightened. He glanced toward his father to get a clue but all he saw was a nonchalant face looking at the door.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Athanasia ran to her chambers and dropped onto her bed, clutching her pillows and heaving slightly. Surely this means nothing, right? Maybe Papa's in a bad mood today. He just needs to have some peace of mind. After all, he hates nosy people-
She then recalled the startling lack of maids on her way to the Emerald Palace. Am I already being neglec- no, no, no, slapping herself a bit, she decided to ask Lily who was in the next room to hers.
"I heard that Alpheus House requested an audience with His Majesty. They brought a young lady with them this one which is why some of the maids were- Your Highness, are you alright?" The girl had turned pale even before Lillian could finish.
Gripping the back of a chair, she implored in a faint voice, "Lily, can you tell me her name?" Unsure still, Lily replied hesitantly, "I believe they introduced her as Jeanette Marga- Athanasia!"
The princess had collapsed in the chair.
Athanasia could only think of one sentence and it was forming in her mind at a painfully slow pace. ‌ Yep, the plot is recovering itself ‌
"Athy, can you hear me?" "Yeah Lily, I'm okay," Athy said as she got up, "I'll be in my room, so please don't worry," "Are you-" "I'm fine, I'm fine," the girl said a little firmly.
She was not.
She stood shaking against her mirror, pressing her hands on her chest in an attempt to calm down.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Some time had passed and seeing that no one called for her, Athanasia changed into a plain tartan dress and slipped into a whipcord jacket.
She teleported herself to the market. Despite the blazing sun, Athy still felt a bit cold and figured some shaved ice will bring her back to reality. The honeyed shaved ice was just forming in front of her eyes when a pair of hands pulled her away into an alley.
Her eyes were quick to adjust and the kidnapper seemed to be a mix of the emperor and the Royal Magician. A strong left parting divided his black hair and framed his pale face.
The similarities between him and Claude were uncanny. It was as if their sculpture had run out of ideas and drew inspiration from both his works.
Surely the man was beautiful if he bore any resemblance to her father but right then he looked psychotic.
His black irises were constricted beyond the natural limit and he was gasping to himself, "What are you doing? I have nothing to do with this girl, only my brother," His voice began to burn with fear, "Why are you doing this? This doesn't serve your purpose,"
As scared as she was, Athy tried to understand the situation, "Sir, who are yo-"
A cloud of red dust blinded her and she felt it crawl all across her body, through her bones and right to her fingertips. She couldn't feel her legs anymore ad her throat began to burn.
Her shaking body slumped against barrels of who-knows-what. It'd be easier to sleep than to go through all this, she thought. Then, perhaps, fortunately, sleep was coming her way.
*SPLOSH*
"Hey, can you hear me?" Dropping the beer barrel, the man shook Athy's shoulders until they were this much away from coming off. "Answer me!" She snapped out of it and pushed the man to make him stop. She took in his changed appearance. Structurally, he didn't change at all but now it looked like someone painted with the royal palate. His hair was now a glittering blonde, his cheeks were tinted and his eyes were bejewelled.
"What's your name?" he pointedly asked. "Wha-" "Do you remember your name?" "Ath-Athanasia" "Thank god," he looked personally relieved until he realised the implication of that sort of a name.
He stared at her for a solid minute before sighing dramatically, "Of course, you had to be a princess," Athy was incredibly confused. He continued, "You know, if you were a normal girl I would've told you to lock yourself at home and stay out of trouble. But your home is the Royal Palace and that's where the trouble lies, especially that man-"
"I'm sorry but who are you?"
"You shouldn't interrupt your elders, and of all people, not me," the man puffed out, leaving Athanasia in disbelief. Being raised by Claude, she didn't know the different ways a man can act. "I, for one, actually know what just happened and two, I'm your uncle, so you should respect me all the more-"
"Pardon?"
"Hmm?" the man paused his monologue to the wandering princess who has spaced out.
"You are who?" was all she could muster.
He airily replied, "Anastacius De Alger Obelia, older brother of Claude De Alger Obelia, and uncle of you," checking off fingers as he gave each title. Seeing how she didn't give any reaction, he bent down and promptly began poking her head, "Does that ring a bell? Helloo?"
Little did he know that she was going through a variation of this. (the screaming bit). "But you were killed by Papa years ago!" she screeched out. "Ah, yes that," he said, itching his jaw, "that didn't happen due to a few complications of mine."
Seriously? This guy is talking about his miraculous survival as if it's something unfortunate, thought Athanasia, If it were me, I think I would be a little more grateful for it.
"Anyway, I think it's time for you to go back, it's getting late," Anastacius said, standing up and smoothing his shirt. He held out a chivalrous hand for the princess to hold, which she gladly accepted.
Before she let herself get too used to holding his hand, Athanasia swept it away and occupied it in adjusting her jacket which reeked of beer.
"I guess I'll be leaving then," she said, tilting her head up to look at him one last time.
His eyebrows were knitted upwards and he wore a small smile, afraid to keep it in full display lest it is misinterpreted. For some reason, the concern engraved in his eyes was almost suffocating to Athy.
"Good luck," was all he said. With a slight nod of his head, he gave her the leeway to desert him.
Athanasia couldn't think of a response better than "Thank you?" and swiftly teleported back to the palace, stunning the supposedly-dead royal in the process.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨˚̣̣̣͙✧- ⚜ -✧˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
She directly teleported to her bathroom, rinsing her beer-soaked clothes to avoid fueling the imaginations of her ladies in waiting.
After a hasty bath, she emerged considerably more flushed than how she entered. The sun is already down, Athanasia thought, I was too careless. I don't think I was caught missing, though. Even if I am caught, I don't want to be caught by my family members, especially by-
"Athanasia"
The addressee stopped dead in her tracks as she snapped her head to the right, to the horrifying sight of a glaring emperor in one of the many randomly placed balconies of the Emerald Palace. She was so shaken that, perhaps out of a survival instinct, she grabbed the folds of her shirt and did a shaky courtesy.
Claude made a sound somewhere between a scoff and a sigh before closing the distance between them considerably.
"Where were you this entire time?"
At this moment, Athanasia knew she had screwed up. After all, it had been too whimsical to think that no one would come looking for her, even if it was just the Royal Magician wanting to bug her.
"I-I was," the gears of her brain working at lightning speed, "in the Western Rose Garden!"
The raised eyebrows which she didn't notice abruptly dropped before Claude began smoothing them out, "The one which hasn't been maintained at all?" he asked her incredulously "It seemed very adventurous!" Athanasia chirped up, regaining her fail-proof cute persona.
"You don't seem to have any scratches from your adventure," he asked, scrutinising her appearance.
Aagh, why are you so perceptive??
"I made sure to be ex-tra careful!" she shot back, praying to God that she seemed convincing.
Also, for some reason, Athy couldn't bring herself to call him Papa like she always does. Today doesn't feel like a good day, she thought.
Claude was still kneading his eyebrows as he regarded her answer, "Don't run off like this again. Make sure to inform someone," he walked past her wordlessly
Athy was rather touched by Claude's words, that's kind, coming from him. Feeling warm and fuzzy inside, Athanasia skipped to her room, making a mental note to greet him first thing the next morning. "Papa would like that," she said to herself.
A voice spoke behind her ear, "I wouldn't be so sure if I were you, Athanasia,"
Athy spun around to see an empty corridor.
‌‌ ‌Huh? Who was that?

It began with a sneeze.
Lena’s entire body tensed, pain wracking her sinuses, and she tried to tamp it down and swallow it. There was a room full of investors, and she paused mid-presentation. She held up a protesting hand, signaling that she needed no help, and waved off her assistants. Finally the feeling subsided and she soldiered on, accidentally repeating part of the presentation. It didn’t matter, it was just a formality.
After, she was sitting alone in her office and she did sneeze this time, hard, into a silk handkerchief. A dull ache had settled into her bones and she felt droopy, tired. Still, she had work to do. Not the work she wanted to do. Not running the company, not strategizing. Not inventing or innovating. It was menial. It was assigned. She worked for her brother.
It was his pretty revenge, because Lena shot him two times in the chest. Then a bunch of very strange shit happened and Lena suddenly found herself in an entirely different world where Lex had never died, even though they both remembered it. A hellish nightmare world where Lillian was a philanthropist and Kara and all her friends worked more or less for Lex, keeping aliens in check.
Lena couldn’t go to her best friend for help, because her best friend had betrayed her. Lena almost wished she’d been erased when the multiverse collapsed, replaced by a copy of herself who’d never felt this agony.
There was a truth she would never admit, even to herself.
She’d feel better if Kara was here.
The days dragged on and so did her cold. Except, it wasn’t a cold. On the third day she woke to a high fever, feeling a little wobbly when she forced herself out of bed. Her sinuses burned and she had to breathe through her mouth. When she took her temperature, it was elevated, close to being dangerous. Every muscle and joint on her body ached and the sight of food made her retch involuntarily.
Lena had the goddamn flu.
She did something she’d never done: by a curt email, she informed her staff that she was ill and would not be in the office today. Instead, she rummaged through her closet, her breath catching on a familiar sweatshirt.
It was a Midvale High School Mathletes sweater. It was Kara’s, but Lena knew with a certainty that Kara had not been in Lena’s penthouse since It Happened. There was no way for this to get here but…
She stifled a sob. This world had its own Lena, one whose life she’d appropriated or merged with or God knows what, and that Lena Kara’s clothes in her home. Lena kept stumbling across them and it hurt more every time.
Had they been happy, before? Kara must have spent the night. They must have been close. Lena had been close with her Kara; they hung out and Kara had slept over a few times but they weren’t really on your-clothes-in-my-closet terms. Had that been what happened here? Did they share the bed? Were they…
Did they…
Lena put it on, felt it shelter her body. She put in two pairs of leggings and hoped her laptop would warm her. She curled with it on the couch, and got exactly nothing done. After three hours she closed the computer and flipped channels until she found the old friend of the seriously ill and the chronically unemployed: reruns.
Curling on one end of the couch, she laid her head to rest on the arm and her eyes slid closed.
It seemed that as soon as she did, she opened them again. Her head was throbbing. She tried to push herself up, but it was too great an effort and she flopped down again. Her throat was dry and sticky, and unable to breathe through her nose, air came in reedy wheezes. Swallowing only made it worse, and she felt a rising panic.
Something beyond sleep, thick and heavy, was dragging her down, even as she struggled.
A chill night breeze rolled over her, and she shivered explosively.
"Easy now. I've got you."
Powerful arms lifted her limp body and carried her. Gently, Lena was laid on her bed and a blanket thrown over her.
She opened her eyes. Kara sat her up, cradling her in one arm as she held a glass in another, so Lena could drink. She let the cool water wet her throat and did her best to breathe again. Gently, Kara lowered her back down to rest and folded a cool, damp cloth on her forehead. Lena sighed in relief.
“Get out. Don’t want you here.”
“I’m sorry,” Kara whispered. “I can’t leave you alone like this. I’ll be right back.”
She was indeed right back, Supergirl walking into Lena’s budoir carrying a drug store bag full of medicine. She sat Lena up again and administered the foul tasting stuff over Lena’s protests, then shut off the lights.
Lena tried to roll on her side. It didn’t go well.
Kara knelt and slipped out of her boots. Then, she undid one side, then the other, and unclasped her cape from her shoulders. She then swept it over Lena and tucked it around her gently.
“Kara,” Lena muttered.
“Hush. It’s a blanket. It’ll keep you warm.”
Lena wasn’t sure what happened next, if she dreamed it or if it was real, but she felt the bed shift as Kara climbed aboard and laid down beside her.
Eventually, she woke up again. Kara was tucked against her back, one arm thrown protectively over Lena’s side, resting on her blanket cocoon. Kara snored lightly, lying on the bed so that her chin rested on the crown of Lena’s head.
Kara noticed she’d stirred and silently stood, offering Lena her next dose of syrupy, nasty medicine. She accepted it just as silently and laid back down to sleep.
The cycle continued. Day came. Kara didn’t leave her. She drew the curtains and laid on the bed beside Lena, never speaking, never making any demands.
Finally Lena was well enough to roll over and face her.
“Why are you here?”
“I heard Gillian’s Island coming from your living room and thought you must be in danger.”
Lena snorted in spite of herself.
Kara softened. Her big blue eyes, eyes that could launch a thousand ships, carried such a weight of sorrow that Lena felt a surge of pain and regret in her heart, wondering why in the hell they were feuding. No. She couldn’t do that. She couldn’t just…
“I’m sorry.”
Lena tucked herself into the blankets. She wanted to roll over, to turn away, to stop this before she did something she would regret later.
“I keep finding your things in my place,” Kara murmured. “It makes me wonder if it was different here. If we were different. What if I’d made other choices. If I’d been honest with you. Bolder.”
“You weren’t,” said Lena. “You aren’t. That’s the way it is. That door was closed.”
“When I landed on your balcony, it was open.”
“A mistake I won’t repeat. Careless. Thank you for helping me, but I didn’t need it. I don’t need you.”
Kara closed her eyes and sighed.
“I hate doing this.”
“Doing what?”
“You’re lying.”
Lena jerked back, as much as her aching body would allow, anyway.
“How do you know?”
It didn’t hit Lena that she hadn’t offered a denial, at least not until later.
“Easy,” Kara smiled. “I cheat. Skin conductivity and moisture levels. Heat bloom on your skin. Pulse. Pupil dilation. Breathing patterns.”
“I have the flu. That’s why.”
Kara frowned.
“You’re wearing my sweater.”
“It’s not yours. It’s hers. The lives we stole.”
Kara shook her head. “That’s not what he did. Your brother created this world to live out his fantasies and make me suffer. That’s why your things are at my place and mine at yours. It’s showing us the life we should have had,” a tear shone on Kara’s cheek, “had I not been a fuckup and a coward. If I’d trusted you.”
Lena choked back a small sob, and started to cough violently.
Without a word, Kara gathered her up and rested Lena’s head on her shoulder, walling her up in those beefy, protective arms of hers. Lena allowed it, curling her fingers against the twitching muscles of Kara’s back.
Lena wanted to pull away…
No. That was a lie, a miserable fucking lie. She didn’t want to pull back. She didn’t want to fight. She thought she had to, that she needed to.
“Don’t cry,” Kara said, tenderly brushing a tear from Lena’s cheek. “I know you’re furious with me. I know things are bad. I know your brother has power over us. It’ll get better. I won’t let him hurt you. I won’t let anyone hurt you. I promise.”
“You already hurt me.”
“I know,” Kara whimpered, her voice wobbling. “I’m sorry, Lena. I’ve never been more sorry about anything in my entire life. I wake up every day praying I can find some way to take it back."
"You can't."
Kara tensed.
"Maybe you don't have to," said Lena.
Kara's breath caught. She lowered Lena to the bed, and this time wrapped them in the blankets together. She was so warm.
"I've got you."
Blessedly, Lena slept.
Each time she woke, she felt better. Eventually, she was well enough for Kara to leave the bed. A few minutes later, Kara came back, and she brought breakfast. Her appetite back, Lena dug in, enjoying the tea Kara brought.
Kara took the tray and plates when she was done.
"You look a lot better."
Lena nodded. "Ah, yes, thank you."
Silence. There was a heavy pause, and then Kara sat down beside her on the bed.
"I wish I'd been brave before."
Lena looked at her, really looked at her, this enchanting vision looking at Lena like she hung all the stars in the sky, her eyes so full of longing that Lena felt she might fall into them forever.
"What would you do if you were brave?"
"This."
Warm fingers curled around Lena's chin. Kara leaned in, and Lena felt it happen even before their lips touched. When they did, it was electric. Lena felt the world spinning. Kara caught her and lowered her to the bed.
"I don't care about multiverses and cosmic entities and your evil brother. No matter what they throw at me, I will always find my way back to you. If you want me."
Lena pulled her down into another kiss, and that was her answer.

‘Third from the right,’ Lily’s voice whispered through the earpiece. Eggsy forced himself to wait a moment before glancing over his shoulder and towards the counter. His attention skimmed over the vast array of patisseries there before sliding to the table she’d pointed out. It looked like a young family, but he had to admit, the mother seemed far more engaged with the kids.
‘Could be bad parentin’,’ he reasoned, covering his words by covering his mouth as if yawning.
Lily’s soft scoff brought an ever so slight smile to his lips. ‘Yeah, he’s also been scanning the café, and I hacked his phone.’
Eggsy scoffed before he could stop himself, but quickly smothered it by taking a sip of his coffee. He dared a quick glance at her; Lily sat in one corner, headphones firmly over her ears, laptop and notes on the table. To all the world she looked like a harried University student.
‘Nobody said I couldn’t,’ she reminded him simply. ‘Also, people really need to stop jumping on every free Wi-Fi that they can.’
‘Noted,’ Eggsy whispered, barely moving his lips.
‘Yeah, Dais’ll love that pres –’
‘Lillian!’ he hissed, pressing the back of his hand over his lips.
‘You’re easier to read than your phone, Unwin,’ she teased.
Eggsy rolled his eyes, grateful that it seemed she hadn’t really hacked into his phone. It did remind him, though, that he needed to be more careful with it all around her in future.

Trigger Warning: There is violence in this chapter
Martha turned over to wrap her arms around her bed partner but frowned when she felt that no one was there. She slowly opened her eyes to realize that not only was Lillian no longer next to her, but given how cool her side of the bed was, she hadn’t been there for a while. Martha stretched out and yawned while grabbing her robe next to the bed. She quickly put it on and exited the room. She wandered around a little bit. She wasn’t used to the multiple halls Lillian’s mansion had. However, she wasn’t surprised since she had only been there a couple of days. After walking around for ten minutes, she stumbled across a door that had light shining underneath it. She peered inside and realized that she made it to the kitchen. She was surprised to see Lillian with her back to her sitting at the kitchen table staring at the whiteboard. She had a notebook and a laptop out in front of her. As Martha got closer to the whiteboard, she realized that it had a whole bunch of photos, news clippings, documents, and yarn of different colors connecting everything together. Martha placed her hands on Lillian’s shoulders and kissed her forehead.
She looked up at the board warily and asked, “Should I be concerned that this looks like a murder board?
Lillian reached up to caress Martha’s hand and kissed it.
“No dear. This is what we are going to use to take down Lex.”
Martha stared at the board quizzically. Lillian looked back and forth between the board and Martha, slumped her shoulders, and sighed.
“I know this looks crazy,” muttered Lillian.
Martha chuckled and said, “I know that there is a method to you madness.” She leaned down and kissed Lillian on the cheek and pulled up a chair next to her. She caressed Lillian’s hand and said, “Maybe, you can start off by giving me the cliff note version of what I am looking at.”
Lillian rubbed the back of her head sheepishly and said, “I figured the best way to bring Lex down was by following the money trail to see if it showed something incriminating or at least of some interest. When Leviathan pulled their backing several weeks ago, security was nearly nonexistent since the majority of security was from Leviathan. It gave me a several-hour window to gather documents about Lex and his dealings from Luthor Corp servers while he scrambled to purchase a new security team. This board contains the most interesting things I found.”
Martha nodded thoughtfully and said, “I take it you started this within the last several hours since this board wasn’t here when I went to bed last night.”
Lillian nodded and said, “I couldn’t sleep so I decided to get a head start on this. I was only just going to categorize everything, but as you can see…” said Lillian as she waved her hand at the whiteboard. “…this kind of spiraled out of control.”
“Well, it can’t be that bad if you have lines connecting things together.”
Lillian chuckled while shaking her head.
Martha frowned and said, “So that bad, huh.”
Lillian sighed and said, “Unfortunately, I didn’t raise a complete idiot. Most of his financial came clean except for the stuff on this board. These were the things that I couldn’t trace where the funding came from, but showed that Lex had ownership of the item. The lines just point to an offshore account that either made the purchase or a shell company that somehow transferred ownership of item to Luthor Corp.”
 “Nothing else stands out.”
Lillian banged her head against the table and said, “I have been staring at this thing for several hours. The purchases are unusual, but there isn’t anything to show that something illegal happened. “
Martha scooted over to Lillian and kissed her head which caused Lillian to look up at her with a soft smile.
Martha embraced Lillian and said, “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Given the way your son’s brain works, I would imagine it would take us a little bit to crack this.”
Lillian rubbed her head and said, “I know. I just want his bullshit to be over.”
Martha caressed Lillian’s check and said, “I know. I know. But, maybe we should try to do another approach.”
Lillian looked up at her curiously and asked, “And what is that?”
Martha smiled and said, “Well, there is the phrase two heads are better than one.”
Lillian chuckled and asked, “Are you sure you want to be up this early wanting to do this? I didn’t want it to be something you lose sleep over.”
Martha kissed Lillian on the cheek which caused her to blush. She took both Lillian’s hands, caressed them, and said, “I told you we were in this together with trying to take down Lex. No matter what.”
Lillian smiled and said, “I don’t know what I did to deserve you.”
Martha chuckled and said, “I could say the same thing especially since I made us wait so long.”
Lillian caressed Martha’s face and said, “I would have waited a thousand years to be with you.”
Martha blushed while getting up and said, “You know how to make a girl swoon.”
Lillian smirked and said, “Only ones that I am interested in.”
Martha chuckled as she went to put on a pot of coffee. Once she was finished, she brought back a tray with two cups of coffee and a plate of cookies. Lillian looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
Martha looked back at her surprised and said, “What? I need sustenance if we are looking through these files this early. Unless you don’t want the coffee….”
Martha started pulling back the cup of coffee before Lillian stopped her.
Lillian smirked and said, “Don’t you dare.”
Martha cackled and said, “I thought so.”

I can’t upload videos to tumblr cause they’re too big. I can’t upload videos to youtube cause they’re copyright claimed. MegaUploads fall was the greatest disaster to media storage and sharing since the fall of the Library of Alexandria and I am NOT saying that ironically or in exaggeration.
