I really dislike how harshly people judge the konoha 11/12 in Naruto classic. It seems that people genuinely forget that these characters are twelve at best.

For example, can we really judge neji for how hard he went on hinata in the chunin exams? All his life he had to get used to the fact that he's basically a slave for the main branch of the hyuga. Of course he wouldn't know better than to despise hinata; he's fucking twelve! He barely has any life experience, all he got taught was basic skills and how to be an efficent killer, and that counts not only for the konoha 11, but most characters.

Another example. Sakura. Judging by my psot history, its no secret that im not her biggest fan. But even as such, i can recognize how stupid it is to bash sakura for leaving ino when they were 8-11. But at the end of the day, when you read their backstory, i would consider it obvious that it's just normal childhood bickering. How can you call Sakura "shallow" for this? She was probably too young to even understand how friendships work at that age. Obviously all these young children don't have any empathy and can't walk in the shoes of others! They were never taught how to be kind, so we shouldn't judge them as if they were taught.

Ignoring this is also a huge mistake in my opinion, because it's one if the things that make naruto classic so interesting and even surreal at times. One second, you'll see two twelve year old friends bickering over a boy, and the next second somebody dies. It's this paradoxical type of setting that makes naruto so interesting. And when people treat these children as adults, it shows that they fell for the underlying tone of the story of child-soldiers being a normal thing (in naruto), and how that's bad.

Sentient Mystery Shack, who is really biased towards Stan, so when Ford tells Stan he has to give it back after the summer it’s on sight.

Ford keeps tripping over nothing, nothing is where it's supposed to be and somehow he keeps running into closets when he tries to go outside.

But the worst part, the WORST part is that Ford's lightbulb just won't. Work. No matter what he does it keeps flickering and exploding.

Ford is spiraling. 

There is no reason why it shoudln’t work. All his trial runs work perfectly. He’s already checked the Shacks wiring three times and relearned this dimensions science from the ground up. 

Nothing works.

The Rift? Bill? The impending apocalypse? Eating? Sleep? Who cares about that. 

WHY. WONT. THE. LIGHTBULB. WORK???

It doesn’t help that Stan keeps laughing at him.

“Then you do it!” Ford eventually snaps at Stan.

Stan shrugs and with a little song under his breath screws his own lightbulb in. It works perfectly.

Stanford screams.

Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.

But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.

But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.

It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'
