#bg3#baldur's gate 3#minthara#minthara baenre#evil murder kitten#i know i've posted this one before#but i just can't get over how cute and adorable she is right here - she really looks like a startled cat#regardless of whether you sleep with her or not#the prism still temporarily broke her connection to the absolute and then returned it to her right when she was about to kill you#and it sparked an immediate crisis of faith because everything about that night is all wrong - except for you#you having no connection to the absolute causes her to doubt the extent of the absolute's control#but she also begins to question the absolute as she found peace in the silence - peace in the absolute *not* controlling her for once#even with the absolute having returned to her - she still wants a reason *not* to kill you#in that moment she clocked you as a potential enemy of the absolute and by her oath - she would be obligated to kill you#which is why the only reason you can get her to stand down is by proving to her that you are not an enemy#and it is pretty easy to convince her that you're not an enemy because she is that desperate for any excuse from you#minthara is not the kind of person who would back off and run from a fight - and is definitely not spooked about assassinations#and she most certainly has stabbed someone in their sleep before and has killed a lover#but she does not like to engage in fights that she does not think are necessary nor to kill those she does not have a reason to kill#the fact that she pulled away when you caught her and she didn't immediately escalate the conflict into a full fight#is a pretty big indication that she has some pretty extreme doubts about the absolute - and *she* does not see you as an enemy

me when I think about how much the show has missed the mark on characterizations, motivations, foreshadowing, fight scenes, and the energy of the entire book:
#pjo show crit#look.... this show feels way more like a rewrite than a faithful adaptation#and that would have been fine if they advertised it as such#but like#RR was screaming from the roof tops that this was super faithful adaptation and any change would keep the spirit#but the changes are just... changes#either to characterization or motivation or whatever#walker and leah truly are the highlights of this show#I wish they'd give aryan more to do#and they are pretty much the only parts I enjoy#... everything else?#:/

holy shit i just got a "jesus saves" lecture from the lab nurse. took me by surprise because i've seen her many times before and she was always very nice and only asked a few respectful questions about the whole trans situation. like geez maam i thought we were cool!!
#she ambushed me asking about my family and idk why i didnt think of lying as an option#so i said i didnt really have much contact with my family anymore#and she kept pushing for more info and then āstrongly advised me to read the bible and put my faith in jesus christ like herselfā#and i was like maam i was raised catholic i can tell you i have read the bible.#and she IGNORED ALL CUES on PURPOSE (??) and kept telling me about how we were made just and holy by jesus dying for us#like where are we??? what's going on????#she usually is careful but fast because it's her job but like she forcefully kept me here with a needle in my arm & physically holding me#long after the blood sampler had been drawn (highly unusual!!!!) to force me to stay here and attend her jesus saves! lecture#at some point i feared she wouldnt let me go at all until i said i would go back to church lol#what is this????????#also i am pretty sure the receptionists were gossiping nastily about me in the waiting room. i may be paranoid#but they were shooting nasty glances in my direction (i was the only patient in the waiting room) and they were whispering between#themselves the whole time and one of them (who'd already been nasty to me re: trans stuff but not outwardly) glared at me#i think i caught something that sounded like āno it *is* weird and were it up to me...ā while they looked at me#like once again i may be paranoid and let my inner bullied student speak but.... the combination was. weird#ive never had a problem here before! you'll tell me this is not an actual problem like nobody beat me up or anything and i'll agree ofc#but. still

Finished listening to the audiobook of Conclave.

#aside from turtle erasure I liked it#because its text rather than visuals we get a more thorough look at Lomeli/Laurenceās internal struggles#the scene before the final ballot#when tedesco fully goes mask off even to his followers and benitez speaks up#itās way more impactful in the book imo#that post comparing the scenes is why I finally listened to the audiobook#I think itās way more impactful in the book#and itās shitty that they omitted calling out american imperialism causing the death and suffering of so many people#especially because a lot of the dialogue in the film is directly pulled from the book!#like damn itās a pretty damn faithful adaptation#but yeah if you like the movie check out the book because itās p much the same but more thorough#because we get the thoughts of Lomeli/Laurence rather than just follow him as an observer#itās more clear to the audience that from his pov all the stuff that happens and how it ends is because itās godās will#like I have to remind my agnostic brain that to them and by extension the narrative of the story is because god and the late pope#were like this is how itās gonna go down#itās not playing by the same rules of a political thriller or whatever even though it seems like that on the surface because duh#conclave#conclave 2024#robert harris

Nienna about to strangle anyone who says that orcs are unredeemable or shouldn't be pitied.
seeing wayyyyyy to many so called āfansā on twitter saying that orcs are āontologically evilā. Tolkien was catholic and ontological evil doesn't exist according to catholic doctrine, since evil is defined as the absence of good so pure evil is just nothingness.
also orcs have souls and only God/Eru can create souls according to the silm, and all souls have some amount of free will to choose between good and evil.
and God/Eru loves all his children, he wouldn't create a soul that is going to be evil with no hope of redemption and salvation. that would be a Calvinist heresy.
that is why Tolkien struggled with the origins of the orcs so much in his later writings and regretted how they had been written.
there are a LOT of things to criticize in rings of power, but humanizing the orcs is not one of them.

The sad thing about the minecraft movie is that even if they listen to the outcry and change the designs i doubt that will actually make it good because a good art direction isn't enough save a movie if the story and writing is ass
#saw some people saying it should get the sonic movie treatment but unfortunately I don't think that's enough in this case#it's another Jumanji ripoff kinda movie that from the looks of it is just gonna poke fun at the source material and make it#the butt of a lot of jokes#same source material that is the whole reason why people want to watch the movie#like. let's think back to the FNAF movie for a sec#was the story pretty mid and the movie failed at actually being scary? yes. but it took itself serious and stayed faithful to the game#you can tell the people who made it actually care. and enjoy. the source material#and that's why it was a sucess despite not being that great of a movie from a critic standpoint#it's a similar thing with the mario movie and the sonic cinematic universe#butni can't seen an ounce of care for the game in the minecraft movie#so yeah. i think even if they change those designs it's still gonna be ass#minecraft#Minecraft movie#hyena ramblings

It's interesting to me that when people are feeling particularly vicious and biting, they always go after Beej. Like, the venom I will see spat at him specifically is just remarkable.
#hawkeye spent entire seasons sexually harassing and bordering on sexually assaulting women and bj hit hawk once#trapper and bj both have violently knocked hawkeye clean off his feet the same amount of times while equally drunk#mulcahy makes it perfectly clear that he would like to hit hawkeye and uses his faith as the last remaining reason why he does not#trapper spends almost his whole time at camp insulting his wife and bj breaks down over his a handful of times#imo margaret and hawkeye and bj are all pretty much tied for the amount of character development they go through in the show#but because bj evolves in challenging ways instead of being a perfect apple pie eating bright white teethed sidekick#he is treated with such a remarkable amount of virulence that i will never understand#i do so much to try and make myself open for all kinds of people to enjoy the content i write#but i do have really painful moments where i have to look in the mirror and seriously ask myself#why i want so badly to be liked by people who would gleefully stab my favorite character a thousand times while i watched#my ramblings

Had this idea for a fic where Ageha picks up on Coco's rancid vibes and tries to convince Nozomi to put some distance between them. Just, like, some gentle nudging and a little advice so as not to come off as condescending or overbearing or anything like that to Nozomi, especially since they don't really know each other that well. I doubt it would cause Nozomi to drop him all at once, but it would be the catalyst for Nozomi to start reexamining their relationship, at least a little.

Eden deciding the subconscious and concepts of humanity brought to life is more ideal that humans themself. the more one loves of human#ity the less one begins to love of humans. Eliza becoming subservient and wanting to activly love humans and her kin even when they hold no#love for her in turn. Both needing to be rewarded or feel rewarded for their dedication. Idealizing each side. the idea of everyone is capa#ble of good and thus should be forgiven and unquestionable love and loyalty. Eden viewing people as senselessly killing oneanother in furth#er elaborate ways and rejects the idea of people all together and finds solance in the Concept than the Living#Angelina and Ryn with how one views time and survival. One hyperfocused on surviving of the current day and neglecting their own very self-#and desires while the other only looks towards the future and idealizes to the point where they dont even see the today. delusion to claw#through reality. Safety team w Brook Eliza Evgeni and Katya is a little harder to explain but the main concept with them as a Group being a#a jab at the happy workplace family that gets along. nuh uh#i guess another idea that is weaved into them is 'survival' and how one sees they can be fit to live or find a meaning to live. and the con#tradictions that arise from anothers perspective and how people 'ought to live'. a clash of either accepting or denying anothers way of#how one should survive. and the projection of a way to live. of 'i view this to be right and thus i will have you do this thing' saving an#aspect or person that they can see themself in to then essentally save themself.#will i be able to handle such ideas with finesse? likely not i dont have faith in myself to properly encapsulate such topics to a perfect#enough degree but it is interesting to explore
