What makes me angry about straight people exhibiting PDA in public isn't that it's PDA, because who gives a shit. It's that I see the most outrageous, disgusting shit being done by a straight couple in public. Shit that should be done in private is out on full fucking display because they can.

They shove their tongues down each other's throats and grind on each other and grope their genitals because they fucking can. They can be as gross as they want because the general public doesn't see anything wrong with it. In fact, they think it's good! Good for them for being so passionate and in love!

But when my girlfriend has to scan the parking lot before giving me a goodbye kiss or I have to ignore the stares and comments about us holding hands. When she hesitates to disclose our relationship because of potential backlash or I refer to her as my "partner" instead of girlfriend to avoid the Look™.

When shit like that happens, every day, I get so angry because they don't get it. And they never will. Straight people have never had to be afraid of expressing their attraction towards each other or be afraid to talk about their SO. They never have had to lie on a lease saying they're roommates rather than a couple so they don't get denied. They have never had people tell them they're wrong for their love and they're going to burn in hell for eternity because of it.

But then they cry about not having a month "just for them" and cry about us not wanting them in our spaces and cry and cry and cry about nothing. But no matter how many times I explain why gay people get a pride month and they don't, when I explain why there are queer only spaces and why we don't want them there, they don't understand. Because they just don't see the fight we've had to put up just to get where we are now.

They see the pride collection at Target and gay Disney characters and think that we have everything we need and we should be grateful. But they are voluntarily blind to our continuing fight for our right to exist in this godforsaken country. When we have to argue that our meer existence is not a threat to anyone and have to explain over and over and over again that we don't have an agenda or an ulterior motive. We just want to exist in peace and not have our history erased.

But it's too much for them, too much to see us happy and in love. Too much for us to share our stories and history. Too much for us to even mention our identity. They want us to be good little gays and stay quiet and keep the status quo because we're too much. But unfortunately for the straights, we're here, we're very queer, and we're not going to hide or shut up. Ever.

I will keep kissing my girlfriend and holding her hand and spitting in the face of every homophobic piece of shit that comes my way. I don't care that you're uncomfortable with my sexuality, in fact I think it's laughable that you think it even matters.

bruce characterization is so hard because he really has been written all over the place. generally i try to think of him as a man who really does mean well, but whose drive for justice and unprocessed traumas can blind him to his shortcomings and lead to him inadvertently hurting his children. i also think that comics are a medium that doesn't usually lend itself well to character growth, because they to maintain a certain status quo to keep telling stories from, and so the bruce in my mind would honestly develop and learn from his mistakes a lot better than canon bruce actually does, because for someone who espouses the values he does, it makes no sense for him to completely stagnate, right. he's a puzzle you can put together in a lot of different ways and it's fascinating but also can be such a pain because of all the different books writing him in so many different ways, but characterizing him solely as an asshole is just boring and reductive imo...

...but all of that said i still think if martha kent ever found out how he talked to kon in sb94 #85 or in those issues of batgirl '00, she should be allowed to beat his ass with a pitchfork. yknow?
