🧡🖤✨ Give Me Ideas for my SM x MLB AU (plz) ✨🖤🧡
okay, if you saw the tags of my last post, you know I was gonna have a little post of ideas I might need for this AU, so here :D
feel free to give me any ideas you have in any form, asks, reblogs, and you can even post something in the sm x mlb au ideas tag I made, if it’s long-
Anyway, if there’s anything specific I need to think about, it’s probably some backstories/reasons for the characters to turn into villains in the first place
For example, I don’t really have a backstory for Jack/The Instigator, the best thing I could come up with is Jack being insecure about whether he’s actually a good cop, or even a good person at all
And there’s also a few characters where I thought of the basics of their backstories, but I also need to think about the specifics of them
Another example, Streber/Count Bloodsucker is obviously gonna get akumatized because of his trauma with Bob, but idk how exactly it would go
And I don’t even have villain versions of some of them, like Patty or Jaune, so ye-
I also still have a few spots for Miraculouses- here’s the plan I made again if you need it, I haven’t really touched it since I made it lol
Tumblr media
okay ty- and just letting you guys know, I’m always up to hear your ideas lol

jobs i think all the saw characters would have if they weren't in saw, and didnt all have like the same 2 jobs (discluding some characters who actually have independent jobs, who i'll just put their regular jobs) with some explanations........
john - architect/engineer (obviously); too old to do anything else (jk) and also the jobs just perfect for him
jill - engineer (obviously); i feel like she could also do some childrens programs though, similar to what ill say to lynn, because she wants to feel like a mom since she never got to be one ,,!!
lawrence - doctor (obviously), oncologist; i dont actually have anything to say about this one but. stream oncol-la-la-la-logist from saw the musical
adam - veterinarian, and freelance photographer on the side (obviously); you know if youve read the og script he talks about how he wanted to be a vet. well we're gonna let him Yeaaaa.
amanda - journalist; a mostly independent job, and i know her and adam are similar in how they are the eyes in the sky, i also think she has very strong senses of justice for this job
lynn - doctor (obviously), pediatrician; she works with kids to help her through what she won't be getting to do with her son, to protect him--so instead pays the service to other children
kerry - lawyer; like amanda, a strong sense of justice. not only do i think she is very good at thinking under pressure, but i KNOW shed be serving cunt in that courtroom
eric - highschool sports coach; has a lot of pent up anger and likes to have control of his situation, especially by people who will just. listen to him. he also uses this to try and get close to daniel by working at his school (its probably not working)
daniel - minimum wage grocery store bagger; hes like a teenager, its this or working at an ice cream parlor and ones less socially demanding for the awkward kid he is
strahm - chef; another job for people with anger (watch the bear streaming on hulu), but idk if i can back this up by anything other than saying his face just looks like he makes a mean omelette?
perez - ceo of some financial services; money money money must be funny in a rich mans world. i know shes super confident and was definitely a math mu kid in school so i think she could top off some banking job, but would probably do some local volunteer service stuff as well #communitygal.
hoffman - detective (obv); since his name is legally detective!! just kidding idk i just cant picture him as anything else.

saw an ig reel about not letting kids have social media until 18 and like. as one of those kids there is... no way that ends well.
straight up banning social media (especially up until 18) is just gonna make kids sneak behind your back and make some anyway. i mean, look at me, im what you'd consider a "good kid" and was very scared of getting in trouble, and yet i still made multiple socials before i was 18! hell, i made this blog when i was 14 years old!!
it just overall creates an environment where your kid won't feel comfortable coming to you if something happens because theres the looming worry of getting in trouble. plus, having all sorts of restrictions - on top of feeling annoying- feels almost insulting as well. i understood why i had restrictions when i was like. 9-14 years old. i hated them at the time, but i understand it now. when i got older though, it felt insulting. it felt like my parents didnt trust me enough, or that they thought that i was too stupid to handle myself online. being 17 and still not being allowed to have socials or be on the internet past midnight didnt feel very nice!
not to mention that the internet can be an important space for kids, i have conservative parents, and so being online is one of the few places i get to be myself. i think it would be better to just. monitor possible social media accounts rather than just. banning it for all eternity and not knowing if something bad happens. kids will find ways around restrictions that are implemented.
and like, i didnt even care about social media pre-covid. i only made accounts because i was bored. but i think that just straight up banning it, rather than allowing it and monitoring isnt good. having the option to make social media, also allows for the option to just. not use it. i feel like i only got as into as i did because i COULDN'T make socials. if i was allowed to when i was, say 15 years old, i doubt id use socials as much as i do now. i seldom used my phone when i was 13, so i imagine id be the same with social media had i been allowed to make them in the first place

I think something I wish I’d make more obvious whenever I write about p1 is how he’s not entirely innocent to his actions in Postal 1. Yes he’s deluded into thinking whats going on around him but even then it takes a certain person to just instantly be ready to slaughter hundreds in the name of survival. Deep down he enjoys the violence, the control, the feeling of having no choice. But he can’t ever admit that to himself because it would destroy him mentally. So constant denial over how he feels 24/7.
P2 is where all that gets funneled into, because he’s certainly honest about his sadism and he doesn’t give a shit. He doesn’t make any excuses for his behaviour. So when p1 feels that way and wants it to go away its a trigger for p2 to front and enjoy it so p1 doesn’t have to deal with the guilt.
P2 doesn’t like how he hides behind him about it. Will just tell him outright he shares the feeling and enjoyment and that he should just accept that and if he feels so bad about it? Stop doing it. Which to be fair after 1997 p1 tries to be a better person, but he WILL use any excuse to fall back into acting that way, all for his safety, all to keep himself safe. But that’s just hiding his desire for it.
Don’t get me wrong p1 wants to be a good person and he’s better morally at some things than p2, AND in those violent moments it is fear leading him. but that doesn’t mean he won’t give into his urges. He’s a deceiver especially to himself. Its something he doesn’t know how to control. Doesn’t mean he can’t though lol.
I love writing characters that aren’t good or bad all the dudes are morally grey and they all have good and bad qualities to them!! Fuck yeah!!!

october part 2 ko-fi fic uploads
hey y'all :D
i absolutely love october and spooky season, so while i know i alredY did a new twilight au/vampire ficlet on tumblr, a new ao3 fic with the trope of "came back from the dead wrong", i also wanted to write a werewolf ficlet to round off the spooky season writing!! the best things come in threes <3
i just posted the link to the gffa werewolf au ficlet (clocking in at around ~4k) to my ko-fi! featuring a lot of homoerotic scenting and wall-slamming and a lil bit of brutal murder as a treat!
as a refresher, the way these ko-fi uploads work is:
Monthly supporters will be able to go into the gallery tab on my ko-fi and click on an uploaded image. The title of the image will be which tumblr-based au the ficlet fits into and how many words it is. The description beneath the image will be a quick summary of the au and a link to the google doc containing the ficlet. The "root" au post, aka the post that started the au on my blog, will be linked as well on that google doc.
(full details of the ko-fi fic uploads here)

I wasn't planning to text post this but I ran out of tags. I will finish off my one day egg meal plan with a late night snack of 4 devilled eggs and have successfully eaten my age in eggs. Once I hit 30 this will no longer be sustainable.
Tumblr media
@rabbit-factory getting more data because it really is an amazing question to ask
This conversation happened at 6am btw
Answer in the tags ↓
#breakfast: scrambled eggs sandwich with bacon and mayo. 2 eggs. i would make a batch of 10 deviled eggs to eat throughout the day#second breakfast/morning snack: 2 eggs worth of deviled eggs#lunch: chicken n egg salad. probably 1 chicken breast and like 3 boiled eggs? idk this part would take some planning#do the eggs in the mayo count?#i think the eggs in the mayo should count#lets say all of the mayo i use in this day is 1 egg to be conservative#but lets me real im white so its gunna be a lot of mayo#2 more deviled eggs for second lunch#im going to dye some eggs to bring some whimsy into what is now an egg fueled hellscape of a day#i subscribe to the dye one eat one model#while one is marinating in the dye i am eating another like an apple#i usually get bored around 3 eggs dyed so thats 3 more nondyed eggs eaten#up to 13 now i think#halfway there#2 more deviled eggs lets go#we're up to dinner now#i want to make a monstrocity of a meal that is cooked to resemble nonegg foodstuffs but is in fact all eggs#so im thinking baked potatoes#these are just boiled eggs that have been split open on top. had the yolks removed. and had scrambled eggs reinserted#with the aforementioned yolk deviled and dolluped on top like sour cream#that's 2 more eggs#now an omlette but rolled into tubes like green beans or asparagus#my vision is really coming together now#lets say thats 2 more eggs#now i want an eggurger#burger but egg#scrambled egg patty#2 more eggs#extra fluffy scrambled egg buns#2 more eggs for each top and bottom

re: Somerton
Not for nothing, but I think we should remember that James Somerton's fans and subscribers are normal people, just like you. They are people who received his output in good faith, and extended to him a normal amount of grace and benefit of the doubt, which he took advantage of.
I don't think it's helpful to respond to the exposé on Somerton with sentiments along the lines of "wow, how could anyone ever think THIS GUY'S videos were any good, ha ha ha, how did he ever get subscribers?" because 1) you have the substantial benefit of hindsight and a disengaged outsider perspective, and 2) it's a rhetoric that creates a divide between you (refined, savvy, smart, sophisticated) and Somerton's audience (gullible, unrefined, easily taken advantage of, terrible taste), which is a false divide, with a false sense of security.
Somerton's success happened because he stole good writing. He found interesting, insightful, in-depth work done by other people, applied the one skill he actually has which is marketing, and re-packaged it as his own. He targeted a market which is starving for the exact kind of writing he was stealing, and pushed his audience to disengage from sources that conflicted with him.
Hbomberguy makes this point in his exposé video: good queer writing is hard to find and incredibly easy to lose. The writers Somerton stole from were often poor or precarious, writing freelance work for small circles under shitty conditions, without the means or the reach or the privileges necessary to find bigger markets. And, as Hbomb demonstrated, when people did discover Somerton's plagiarism, he used his substantial audience to hound them away and dissuade anyone else from trying to hold him accountable.
He stole queer writing by marginalized people, about experiences and perspectives that people are desperate to hear more about, and even if his delivery and aesthetics were naff, his words resonated with people because the original writers who actually wrote them poured their goddamn hearts and souls into it.
Somerton also maintained a consistent narrative of persecution and marginalization about himself. He took the plain truth, which is that queer people and perspectives are discriminated against, and worked that into a story about himself as a lone, brave truth-teller, daring to voice an authentic queer perspective, constantly beset by bigots and adversaries who sought to tear him down. As @aranock, who works with some of the people he targeted, writes in this post, Somerton weaponized whatever casual bias and bigotry he could find in his audience to reinforce his me vs them narrative (usually misogyny and various forms of transphobia), which is what grifters do. They find a vulnerable thread in a community and pull on it. And while you may not have the particular vulnerability that he exploited, you do have vulnerabilities, and they can be exploited too.
People felt compelled to support him, even if his work was sometimes shoddy, because he presented himself as a vulnerable, marginalized person in need of help, he pulled on that vulnerable thread.
Again, he has a degree in marketing, and just like propaganda, nobody is immune to marketing.
YouTube as a system is set up to push for more, constantly more. More content, more videos, more output, more more more more, and part of Somerton and Illuminaughty's success was their ability to push out large amounts of content to the hungry algorithm, even if it was of inferior quality. The algorithm rewarded their volume of output with more eyeballs and attention, and therefore more opportunities to find people who were vulnerable to their grift.
It is a system which quite literally rewards the exact kind of plagiarism that they do, because watch-time and engagement are easily measurable metrics for a corporation, and academic rigor is not. There is pressure to deliver, and a lot of rewards to gain from cutting corners to do it.
Somerton and Illuminaughty and Internet Historian are extreme and very obvious cases, so blatant that you can make a four hour video essay exposing what they've done, but the vast majority of this kind of plagiarism isn't going to be obvious - sometimes it might not even be obvious to the people who are doing it. Casual plagiarism is endemic to the modern internet, and most people don't get educated on what the exact boundaries are between proper sourcing and quoting vs plagiarizing. We had an entire course module at my university aimed at teaching students the exact differences and definitions, and people still made good faith mistakes in their essays and papers that they had to learn to correct during their education.
All of this to say: it is extremely easy in hindsight to call Somerton's work shitty and shoddy, his aesthetics flat and uninspired, and to imagine that as a sophisticated person with good taste and critical faculties, you would never be taken in by this kind of grifter. It is extremely easy to distance yourself from the people he preyed on, and imagine that you will never have to worry about your fave doing your dirty like that.
But part of the point of Hbomberguy's video is that plagiarism is extremely easy to get away with, and often difficult for the average person to spot and call out, and with the rise of AI tools blurring the lines even further, it is not going to get any easier.
So I think we should resist the temptation to think of Somerton's audience as people with bad taste and poor faculties. We should resist the temptation to distance ourselves from the perfectly normal people he preyed on. Many times in your life, a modestly clever man with a marketing degree has fooled you too.
On a personal note, by the same token, I am resisting the temptation to assume that I am too good to be vulnerable to the systemic pressures that produced Somerton and Illuminaughty. No, I've never made a video by word-for-word reciting someone else's work, but I know for a fact that I could do a better job of double-checking my work and citing my sources. I feel the exact same pressure to get a video out as fast as possible, I have the exact same rewards dangled in front of me by YouTube as a platform, and I can't pretend it doesn't affect my work. To me, Hbomb's video felt like a wake-up call to do better.
