I can't believe it took me so long, but I just realised why I hate most Bellatrix fancasts.
They don't have heavy-lidded dark eyes. Heavy-lidded eyes are Bella's most important feature, the one that's mentioned the most, and you cannot create the right atmosphere around her and the aura of a 'dark woman' without this feature.
Helena has the heavy-lidded dark eyes, alongside the strong jaw Bellatrix is supposed to have, and I can't imagine Bella any differently. She really was so perfectly cast. If only the execution was as good too.
This is book Bellatrix's face.
#this fandom should stop fancasting actresses with hooded light eyes as bella#like Eva Green and Katie McGrath#they're the very opposite of how Bella's eyes are supposed to be#bellatrix lestrange#harry potter#bellatrix black#Helena Bonham Carter#fancasts

𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥, 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐭.
Kathryn Merteuil from Cruel Intentions is portrayed by Ketu natives. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amy Adams, and now Sarah Catherine Hook.
Characters that I randomly thought would be Kathryn Merteuil's daughters, just so happen to be played by Ketuvians; particularly known for having manipulative, cunning, power-driven personalities.
This relentless pursuit for power and control extends to other Ketu characters. I have explored this theme already in my Ketu Dominant Themes post, I just didn't use female characters as my examples.
Cersei Lannister is an extreme version of this archetype, set in this non-modern, brutal world in Game of Thrones, known for her psychopathy.
Being extremely ruthless and cunning, with a thirst for power and control and an unchecked ambition, it doesn't come as a surprise that she is portrayed by a fire sign native Lena Headey (Venus nakshatras share these themes, as well).
Reminded me of Cate Blanchett's character from Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, who has a desire for control and maintaining power. She is absolutely heartless and cruel.
The same actress also played Hela who driven by power, is absolutely cunning and even more ruthless, possessing this superiority complex.
Having this deep desire to dominate and conquer, it comes as no surprise that the actress has an Aries stellium; proving it true that the rashi comes first, as the signs alone can be known for these negative, power-seeking traits. These fiery traits in the Ketu section are specifically exaggerated. The Ketu rulership seems to not only exaggerate the traits of the fire rashis, but darken them too. Technically; Ashwini is Dark!Aries, Magha is basically Dark!Leo and Mula is just Dark!Sagittarius lmaoo.
Just shortly describing Hela's Ashwini traits, I thought of Azula, who is voiced by Magha Sun Grey DeLisle.
Having a fiery determination and borderline exaggerated Leo traits; much like Hela, she is obsessed with being domineering. Known for being cunning, extremely ruthless and driven by power and control.
Another Hela-type character is the formidable antagonist, Artemisia, played by double Ketu native Eva Green in 300: Rise of an Empire.
Similar to Azula, she is driven by vengeance and is relentless about it. She is extremely strategic and power-hungry, seeking dominance over others and causing destruction.
Both Magha ASC Eva Green and Magha Moon Katie McGrath played the character Morgana, though with different arcs.
Eva Green's version of the character is more overtly power-driven and manipulative, as she has a double whammy effect of the Ketu nakshatras. While Katie McGrath's portrayal is her journey to villainy as she grows a thirst for vengeance and power, becoming a formidable force in the series.
Madison Montgomery from AHS: Coven! Played by Mula native Emma Roberts, she is undeniably ruthless and chaotic.
She seeks power & status in the witch world, being cunning, mean-spirited and manipulative.
In the same season, AHS: Coven, we also have the ruthless and powerful, vengeful witch Marie Laveau played by Magha Sun Angela Bassett. She means to assert her place in the world, embodying LEGACY (Magha nakshatra nod, much like Azula who strongly represents legacy and her ancestors).
And alongside her is Ashwini native Jessica Lange playing Fiona Goode, another ruthless, cunning Ketuvian/Fire sign character obsessed with power, youth and maintaining superiority over others.
Speaking of power-hungry witches; Ashwini Moon native Kathryn Hahn plays Agatha Harkness, who has a lust for power and control, finding herself completely fixated on Scarlet Witch's powers and wanting to gain control over such an immense force to master it within herself.
Magha Moon Helena Bonham Carter played the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, the character having a very fiery temper and an obsession with control. The Leo characteristics being exaggerated by the nodal rulership, she has an oversized ego and an extreme sense of self-importance, ready to inflict punishment on those who slight her.
A far lighter, less sinister, version of this Ketu archetype, is the Evil Queen in Mirror Mirror, played by Magha Moon Julia Roberts.
She still fits this highly manipulative, power-hungry archetype, her motivations rooted in status and control over the kingdom.
These characters thriving on power and control speaks to the emptiness and wounds they hold within. People who naturally possess power do not seek it, yet it seems to be a theme for these Ketuvians to be hungry for it. As if there's a beast inside of them that wants to suck things in and conquer, which makes sense for the Ketu x Jupiter polarity as Jupiter has excess to give out and Ketu wants to possess it (as I've talked about Ketu constantly absorbing things & people intentionally or not). The more cunning portrayals show how these characters live through their domineering force, deliberately using it to pull things under their control; ready to combat any outside forces that mean to take away their status and things that signify power to them. This combativeness is specifically shown in Ashwini Moon Blair Waldolf who becomes very combative when threatened. I believe people forget that Ketu alone is different from Ketu nakshatras. The fire signs will always remind you that they're fire signs, that's why observations like "Ketu nakshatra people have zero ambition and only seek spirituality and they represent nothing" is a completely one-sided statement and a disregard to how the houses and signs ruling these nakshatras operate. If this observation were the case, then I wonder what the Ketu gold-digging archetype implies if not everything I talked about.

GENDER SWAP RENLY AND STANNIS OUTFITS PLEASSSS. And maybe Robert too
SISTERLY DYSFUNCTION WE LOVEEEEE even tho the character of Robert is kinda tricky bc his character is rooted in his manhood but fuck it we ball maybe we can just make Westeros a matriarchy #Feminism
Fem Roberta (definitely named Roberta) (also the middle Katie McGrath pic is the fc) is the kinda the biggest lesbian bait ever. Non-dutiful eldest daughter set to inherit storms end but she does NAWT give a shit she wants to go play around in the Vale with fem Ned and drink and whore etc etc. Rides and fights like a man and even wears men’s armor but still dresses and (sometimes) acts like a noble lady when the situation calls for it. She’s not a tomboy who chafes at nobility she’s a rowdy noble girl who LOVES her status she loves excess. Charismatic girl who managed to get men to follow her into war to get back Fem Ned’s little brother even though she loves him like a prize. And she loves the idea of being connected to Ned more than that. But other than her homoerotic obsession with her best friend and she is totally and completely heterosexual 👍🏻
Fem Stannis (Stana? Castana?) is kinda so Eva Green do we see the vision people. She’s a flop daughter who dresses like a utilitarian, very little room in her looks for comfort. Internalized misogyny for days bc she thinks if she were a son she could be so much better than her sister is. She’s kinda like if Cersei slayed a little less. When Roberta dies she can’t garner any support bc even though they were both women, her elder sister was always more persuasive and well liked, which is half the reason she became queen. So now she’s behind her bastard nephew and nieces who aren’t even related to her in the line of succession (let’s pretend masc Cersei and fem Jamie swapped the kids or smthn idk 😭). And her new red witch is not doing favors for the people who think magic = dark and womanly and evil. She’s such a flop and gay for the older pirate lady who saved her life and she can never do anything right ily girl
And Fem Renly/Rena/Renia is kinda the baddest bitch in the seven kingdoms. She’s even prettier than Roberta was at her age, and just as charismatic, and far more agreeable, acting more like a “proper” lady. Though she rides as well as her eldest sister, and even took up the sword too, wanting to be a warrior queen when she was little. Her fits always go crazy, a fourth of the treasury at storms end is set aside for her favorite green enameling and gold accessories. She’s kinda the star of court and thinks Roberta has gotten lazy and Stana has too much of a stick up her ass to be a good queen. Ofc in true Baratheon fashion she has a gay who worships her like a god, her trusted lady-knight Lora Tyrell, who gives her the support of her house before she unfortunately gets merked. Rip queen I wish you could’ve been mean on the internet
#asoiaf#lesbian Baratheons my beloved#Stannis was already a lesbian without gender bending him but that’s neither here nor there

some hatred towards alysmond is coming from people with weird moral indignation i'm afraid. how do i know? cause in 9 out of 10 aemond×oc fics reader is soft, submissive, boring as hell and aemond is possessive, jealous and control freak. certain people will never like alys cause they can't relate to her. she is cunning, knows how to survive and make the best of it, and she is immediately labelled as dangerous seductive famme fatale. i don't care what they say, i knew for many years that really strong women don't put down those who clearly are confident and smart because they don't feel threatened by them. even if that's about the fictional character but you see those people can't tell a difference between real person and fictional character as they proved when telling olivia they hate her cause she plays a cunt and insulting gayle looks just because they expected eva green of katie mcgrath so they can get the confirmation she seduced him with her looks. sorry to disappoint you but even maesters noticed aemond in harrenhall didn't choose some younger ladies to bed but alys. they can't understand aemond fell in love because she was smart, witty, resourceful? maybe to him looks didn't matter but i dunno, something like personality? but they don't know what personality is so what to discuss here? now having oc with no personality bland as fuck is sign of genius. you know you can't write smart character with personality because then people won't self insert. they only can self insert into complete idiots. good to know they are impressed by someone nameless and faceless and personalityless. fools can only identify with fools.
not gonna lie helaemonds have a part of trashing alys cause they can't get over their disappointment she would be casted when they were sure alys would be cut cause her powers went to helaena. i have ss of their comments or posts so if they piss me off i would public it. they also can't comprehend why aemond would leave capital to begin with he was to fuck helaena during the war. huge bunch of helaemonds openly admitted they don't care about aemond, all they care about is helaena being with someone better than aegon. they don't understand aemond and his motives, they constantly trash aegon as worse than daemon and viserys combined so best to ignore them, their brains don't work anymore.
alys suffers from both teams cause both teams need a punching bag. tb does want every woman to uphold the patriarchy to just call them karens and they will be hugely disappointed because alys doesn't support the patriarchy so this argument works only with alicent and even helaena. tg is full of people with parasocial relationships with ewan and aemond as if any of them would ever have sex with them. they are jealous alys gets to have sex with him and they have to self insert into bland copy paste oc.
i feel really sorry for these writers who think writing alys as bad bitch will make their uninteresting self insert bland oc great or more shippable with aemond. how they are stuck in their black white thinking of the world when they write alys as smart, ambitious=bad bitch and oc naive, innocent, soft, submissive=great girlfriend material. it must be so boring to feel threatened by fictional character who isn't brainless like most of their ocs. so they need to cope by writing blushing virgin for aemond and that's how they convince themselves they'll find their aemond is real life. imagine how sad their life is!
Hi nonnie 🤗
This ask has been sitting in my inbox pile for ages; but fear not, I have finally unearthed it 😭
And honestly, there's not much to add - your words ring true and I couldn't agree more. Keep spilling that pipin' hot tea!

Because people asked me, I made some more Harry Potter Characters with AI, all still based on the descriptions and prompts from @breaniebree for her story and Universe of ASC
The only one I didn't manage to get right was Ginny, I just wasn't able to get a redhead girl with brown eyes who had her "distinctive look" for some reason lol
Starting with Harry, I sadly didn't manage the lightning Bolt scar.
Prompt: "A 20 year old man called Harry potter, with a sharp jawline, emerald green eyes, dark stubble beard, messy black hair, round glasses and a small lightning bolt scar on his forehead"
Next would be Ginny Weasley and for some reason, I just didn't get her right, mainly the eye colour but she also looks a bit too "innocent" lol!
Prompt: "A brave, strong-minded 20 year old woman with a determined look on her face called Ginny Weasley looking like Bonnie Wright, dark brown eyes, fiery hair and lots of freckles"
I also tried it without having Bonnie wright as a reference!
After that we have Hermione.
Prompt: "A 20 year old woman called Hermione Granger looking like Emma Watson with brown eyes and brown, unruly, curly hair"
Next one would be Draco Malfoy who is pretty spot on in my opinion!
Prompt: "A white blond 20 year old good looking man called Draco Malfoy looking like Tom Felton, black suit, dark gloomy"
Next Blaise Zabini, is also alright!
Prompt: A 20 year old good looking man called Blaise Zabini as a mix of Rege-Jean Page and Shemar Moore, dark suit, smug look
Next is Tonks again, just because the world can't have enough Tonks on it.
Prompt: "A 25 year old cool looking woman called Nymphadora Tonks looking like Keira Knightley with grey eyes and short pink hair"
Next is Walburga Black, Sirius´ Mum, which turned out good in my opinion!
Prompt: "A 40 year old beautiful evil looking woman called Walburga Black looking like Eva Green in a beautiful black dress, dark, gloomy"
Next would be Barty Crouch Jr, who is scary lol
Prompt: "A deranged 30 year old man called Barty Jr looking like Bill Skarsgard smiling, dark robes, dark gloomy"
Next the Greengrass Sisters starting with Daphne who turned out great in my opinion!
Prompt: "An arrogant beautiful 20 year old woman called Daphne Greengrass looking like Blake Lively, wizarding dress"
And her younger sister Astoria Greengrass, also turned out good!
Prompt: "A beautiful 20 year old woman called Astoria Greengrass looking like Katie McGrath"
Next, two Brothers and not the nicest of companions, starting with Rabastan Lestrange
Prompt: "An evil looking man called Rabastan lestrange looking like Cillian Murphy, dark suit, dark gloomy"
And his older brother Rodolphus Lestrange
Prompt: " A 40 year old evil looking man called Rodolphus lestrange looking like Peter Greene, dark wizarding robe, dark gloomy"
Next, something I tried, I am not too sure of, Augusta Longbottom, the Vulture hat sadly didn't work.
Prompt: "A confident, good looking 60 year old lady called Augusta longbottom with a determined look on her face in a wizarding dress"
Next, an Original Character, created by @breaniebree, Fiadh Alexander a Fae, also Fred Weasley´s Girlfriend.
Prompt: "A 25 year old beautiful woman called Fiadh Alexander looking like Tiana Benjamin with pale skin short straight black hair and emerald green eyes"
And speaking of Fred, we have the Twins Fred and George Weasley! (Fred on the left, and George with a beard on the right)
Prompt: "Two 20 year happy looking men, they are twins, called Fred and George Weasley, looking like Kenneth Bek, with red-orange hair and stubble, right one with a beard"
And at the end another great Original Character by @breaniebree Sebastian Kane, but Iam not too sure if he meets her expectations lol
Prompt: "A 25 year old man called Sebastian Kane looking like Francis Cadieux with dark brown hair and light blue eyes, stubble and broad shoulders"
All Credit for the Character Info goes to @breaniebree

Ok but I'm genuinely losing my mind over the fact that they had mobius explicitly and without any prompting tell loki that he's single! And not just once! He's single! His wife is very dead! Sir! And they could have given him a wife! Wouldn't it be even more tragic? He would have to leave his sons and his loving wife, presumably Mobius is going to get his memories back! Why not make it even sadder? Queerbaiting? In my house?
(thought they really fumbled their chance to do the funniest and most homophobic thing in the history of television, which is giving mobius a wife and casting someone who looks just a bit too much like loki - think katie mcgrath or eva green)

So I know it’s like a Thing to picture Katie McGrath as Morgan Le Fay (which is fair I always do too honestly. She just has Such a Face for the character I cannot escape it) but I’m curious if there’s anyone else y’all picture for Morgan? I know Eva Green’s is (understandably) very popular and Helen Mirren’s is really good even if the idea of Morgan being blond is so foreign to me
#it is funny the way Katie McGrath has such a hold over Morgan#in a way I don’t feel like any other actor really does for other Arthurian characters#she’s not even my favorite depiction of Morgan I just can’t picture her any other way at this point#Morgan Le Fay#Morgana#arthuriana

Fantasy AU: The Sorceress Queen Morgana Pendragon
Fandom: BBC’s Merlin (canon era) AU AU: Once Upon a Time in Camelot
High King Arthur Pendragon's sister and enemy.
———————————————————————————————
This manip was done in 2019 but was held back because I wanted to come up with a decent and final idea for this AU. But, since it's now 20223 and there's little hope I'll ever achieve that... let's share this Morgana and be done.
(Related works at the AU tag above)
———————————————————————————————
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip) This was done so much time ago that I don't remember much about the making itself. I do remember it was an hardship to find the right Morgana/Kate face to fit the angle of the Evan Green in the original pic, but that's all. It was much fun placing the signature to make it look like part of the stained glass, this I remember.
Credits Eva Green as Morgana from Starz's Camelot (2011). Katie McGrath from Merlin's Season 4. Both pictures found at Far Far Away.

OC WEEK DAY 2
Soranna Lazarescu
Honestly, this is my favorite OFC.
She is a pretty powerful woman and to catch the eye of someone like Vergil, you have to be pretty special.
Is she special? In the grand scheme of things, oh yes. However, she is naive in the beginning of their relationship.
In 'You Know Me Through The Years To Come' she is much more forgiving than her current variant (A new story that will be coming soon) where she is Nero's mother. I don't really want to give too much away about her when I haven't published that story yet.
Other than that, she is around the same age as the twins. She is also an advocate for changing your fate.
Ugh... really don't want to give it away.
Her character model is based on Katie McGrath. I originally used Eva Green as her model, but Katie just had something about her that worked better.

People making crackships popular is gagging me. Clara Oswald and Sherlock Holmes are an Ashwini x Ashwini ship. Why is this CRACKSHIP so POPULAR 💀
Fandom is so annoying
I just realized... Rooney Mara, Ashwini Sun, was also one of the people fancasted as Lady Loki alongside Ashwini Moon Eva Green in the fandom forums back in the 2010s. And also Katie McGrath who could have Magha Moon (depending on what birthday is accurate, her other birthday gives her Shatabhisha Sun and another one gives her Swati Sun; interesting as she's nodal overall and has this Loki vibe to her).
It reminds me when DC fandoms, before Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn, so back in the early 2010s, used to cast Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn to Heath Ledger's Joker.
And they did the same thing for the series Gotham's Joker played by Cameron Monaghan, fancasting another Swati native, India Eisley, as Harley Quinn! I used to watch their fan edits on YouTube repeatedly! 😭
SO NOW!???
Canon live-action versions of this character is portrayed by Swati Moons too!
Also.
An Ashwini moment for me, back in my Loki fan forums.
Idk about yall but he's not beating the Ashwini allegations enough for me (I'm the only one accusing him hehe).
Like.
TH mostly looks Dhanistha though but oh well bro better give out that birthtime. Patterns never fail me unless I'm picking up on whatever his ASC is.

Who do you like more, Eva Green's Morgana or Katie McGrath's? 🙆
Thank you for the ask! @the-king-and-the-druidess
I have been pondering this myself for a few days now, especiallg with all the camelot x merlin shenanigans happening in my asks.
I like the Morgans I’ve seen so far. They all have qualities that make them the best in different categories.
Most accurate backstory and relationshit with merlin - Excalibur 1981 Morgana (Helen Mirren)
Best in becoming "loosest woman to ever live” - Starz Camelot Morgan (Eva Green)
Best in politics - Eva Green
Best sister/adversary to Arthur - for now Katie Mcgrath but I honestly think the Morgana from Mists of Avalon wins this even though I havent seen it.
Most compelling and logical backstory/reasons for war- Katie Mcgrath (coz her story deals with racial persecution and not just the "women=bad” narrative)
Best in fun shenanigans - Katie Mcgrath.
Katie’s is my fave adaptation coz she got to do all the really fun morgana stuff (minus the sex). Fun traditional Morgana stuff like:
Being really into fabrics
Loving apples
Necromancy
Healing/caretaker
Benevolent and smart
Loving Mordred
Acted as counsel to arthur for a time
Chasing after Merlin hungry for his knowledge, trust and also magic (first honestly then eventually in order to spurn him)
Sullying Guinevere’s honor/revealing gwencelot to arthur
Torturing and the unjust imprisonment of Guinevere and the knights for little reason
Loads of court intrigue
Takeover camelot more than once
Use old crone persona
Use birds for her plans
Healing people just to torture them again
Employinh other/younger girls to seduce knights and spy for her.
Build a community of loyalists sympathetic to her
Playing with Lancelot in a shtty manner
Taunting Gwaine
Having a lot of familiar arthurian allies working with her like morgause, agravaine and mordred
That self-righteousness and feminine fury
Her plans keep getting foiled so she comes up with even better more convuluted plans
Virtually unkillable (until that cop-out execution at the end of DotD)
Like i said before, i appreciate how they jampacked what little i know of legendary morgana into bbc’s adaptation.
Though i dont think this next part is faithful to traditional arthurian morgana, the tyranny part was a good bonus for me coz it’s very accurate to what radicalism/insurgency looks like irl. Plus with BBC Merlin’s premise, it really really works.
Imho The magic ban/persecution actually gave katie’s morgan le fay character more depth coz she now had more solid justification for the awful things that she does...compared to in the legends where it’s basically “morgan le fay retaliating really badly or exacting her sadistic brand of justice when she did not get what she wanted or when she was slighted.”
Also.... I just appreciate the dualistic nature of Katie’s Morgana the most. Katie played her hatred and rage with so much humanity, pain, loneliness, desperation and sadness. Hers is one of the coolest acting performances I have ever seen. (s5 especially)
Tbf tho she had been blessed with 5 seasons to really truly embody the essence of morgana from the legends (except all the sex and being an actual mom). Eva green was also good at this but with only one season given to her, eva green didnt get to play around as much as katie did.
The only thing that was missing was really katie’s morgana taking arthur’s body to avalon. (Mists!Morgana wins this one).
#morgana pendragon#bbc morgana#starz morgan#katie mcgrath#eva green#morgan le fay#tldr katie is my top one#no matter how ppl say she isnt morgan le fay#perhaps the one from mists is much better in hindsight#but i havent seen that

It’s really sad, I check for Alys/Aemond content every day but there’s hardly anything now that we have official casting. It’s like everyone gave after they realized we weren’t getting Katie McGrath as Alys ffs. Makes me so mad. Gayle is perfect and I was hoping to see people share gifs and edits of her. Watch everyone turn coat and be active again when we first see her as Alys and how perfect she will be.
Right? It's so disappointing. And Gayle is gonna rock it. She is a highly trained actor, she graduated from Juillard for fucks sake. She obviously nailed her audition, and from the vibe I get from her, her and Ewan probably clicked immediately upon meeting. I mean, she wasn't even on my list of choices for Alys - mostly because I hadn't heard of her until she was cast - (my little heart was set on Jessica Brown Findlay lol) - but once I got to know her, I was literally vibrating with excitement.
And the thing is, we don't even know if Katie was interested in the role. There was absolutely no inclination of her wanting to be a part of the cast - and the role of Alys seems very similar to Morgana Pendragon, so would she even have wanted to play the same character twice? So I don't understand why folks got so upset over Alys not being played by her or someone like Eva Green, because we just don't know if they tried out.
Some of the content might have gone down because Gayle doesn't have a huge filmography, she's still relatively new, and there isn't that much footage of her that is workable as Alys atm without extensive photoshop. I have certainly run into that issue myself.
Makes me nervous for how folks are gonna react to Hugo Papiernik's official casting as Daeron, and he is obviously not Harry Gilby or Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen.
And all this "hate" that H*la*monders insist they are getting from us evil Alys fans - there aren't any of us here right now, so...I'm not sure where this "hate" is coming from.

As someone whose Admittedly Impossible Dream Fancast for Alys was like... Eva Green, but specifically with hair and costumes roughly styled after her all-too-brief performance as Morgan in Starz's Camelot (the show itself had SO MANY flaws, but damn if I didn't completely obsess over her in that role for the one season it lasted!), THANK YOU for being so refreshingly reasonable about Gayle Rankin's casting! I don't think I've ever watched anything with, but I've heard she's a good actress and she's great with eerie, witchy roles, and personally, I think that's all that should matter.
Honestly, my only complaint is that I would have LOVED for Alys' actress to have a bigger, more visible age difference with Ewan. Not just for the obvious "Aemond likes MILFs"/"Alys is more experienced and tops him" jokes, as amusing (and inspiring if, like me, you like that sort of thing in your ships... ;)) as those can be, but also because it would have just been so nice to see a 40+ actress play a seductive, powerful character hooking up with a cool, younger male fan favorite many people (me included, lol) find hot. I get that Alys is supposed to look youthful, but depending on context, "youthful" can mean anything from "so babyfaced they keep getting mistaken for a teen well into their 30s" to "they have such an energy and such a lively, charming personality that people keep forgetting their actual age" after all...
Then again, I, too, would have also loved for older!Rhaenyra and Helaena to be played by fat people, thus putting on screen two fat female characters whose problems don't revolve around them hating their bodies, other people hating their bodies, or whether their bodies are or can be considered attractive. Still, Emma and Phia are both doing amazing jobs, and as well-cast as everyone's been until now, I don't doubt it'll be the same with Gayle and I'll be able to enjoy her performance... while waiting for industry conventions to slooowly change!
i also watched starz's camelot and had very mixed feelings about the show overall, but i adored eva green as morgan pendragon so much. so she was always who i imagined as alys when i read fire and blood. and i understood why many people felt the same way about katie mcgrath after watching her also as morgana in bbc's merlin. alys rivers just has really big morgan le fey energy, right down to her son.
i have never seen gayle rankin in anything. but she is supposedly a good actress who has played roles with witchy vibes. an pictures and edits of her with black hair as selling me on her casting more and more. i am sure she will do wonderful in the role. my biggest issue was those posts comparing pictures of gayle rankin and a fancast for alys, which was clearly posing gayle as unattractive and dumpy compared to the more conventionally attractive actress. which is just gross. it was gross when they did it to emma, and it sucks that the same cycle is repeating with gayle. they both deserved better.
i am terrified for the actress cast as nettles.
in regards to the rest of the casting, i agree with you entirely. milly, emma, and phia are great, i love both of them and none of this is a reflection of my feelings about them as actors. but rhaenyra and helaena are the only targaryen women who are explicitly described as bigger than a pencil. grrm specified that rhaenyra was "pudgy" as a girl and "stout" as a woman due to her multiple pregnancies, but she is still considered desirable. helaena is similarly described as "plump", but is adored. their canonical descriptions being ignored by both the showrunners and fans is disappointing, but not surprising.
i have strong feelings about some of the casting, but i still found it to be one of the shows greatest strengths. and i have no doubt that these newest additions will continue to elevate the show (the only one i actually recognize was freddie fox as gwayne hightower, he was the king of sweden in hulu's the great and i am excited for him).
